"So what brought you to Kentucky last week?" Lexie asked Spencer.

They were sitting in a diner across the street from Lexie's hospital, the same one they had lunch in two weeks ago. They had been dying to meet with each other, but Lexie couldn't get off work, so they met on her lunch break.

"A child abduction case, those are always the worst." Spencer sighed. He wanted to protect Lexie from everything he saw at work, he wouldn't tell her that the case actually involved children dying.

"Oh, that must be hard, it's always hard when we lose a kid at work," Lexie replied. A silence fell over the two, neither wanted to continue the conversation of death.

"So, I have my board certifications coming up, do you think you could help me study?" Lexie asked, breaking the silence. She didn't really need a study buddy since she remembered everything single thing she saw, but it would be nice to see Spencer more.

"S-sure I would love to." Anytime Spencer could be with Lexie he was happy.

She was wearing her scrubs and her hair was put on in a braid. Even in scrubs, Spencer couldn't help but think about how beautiful she was.  He stared at her as she drank her coffee and slowly ate her pancakes. It was three in the afternoon, but Lexie wanted pancakes. Spencer found her adorable.

Suddenly Lexie's pager went off. "Damnit" She muttered under her breath, "I'm sorry I gotta go." She said giving Spencer an apologetic look.

"Don't worry about it, I totally understand." He smiled back at her as they both stood up. Lexie went to put cash on the table to pay the bill, but Spencer grabbed her wrist.

"I got it, don't worry." He smiled at Lexie.

"Spencer... I'm paying next time!" She joked.

They left the diner and walked back to the hospital together in silence. When they got to the front doors Lexie threw her arms around Spencer's neck pulling him into a tight hug. Spencer wrapped his arms around her back and closed the gap between the two. Neither wanted to leave this moment, but Lexie's pager beeped again, pulling them apart.

"I'll call you when I get off," Lexie said walking into the hospital's doors.

"Bye" Spencer whispered and walked back to his car.

Lexie's shift didn't end up ending until almost midnight. She was absolutely exhausted.

All she wanted to do was curl up in bed and sleep till tomorrow. She got in her car and checked her phone before she started driving when you work in an ER you never text and drive, she noticed Spencer had texted her. Her face instantly lit up, she loved talking with him, even if it was over text.

Spencer

How was your shift? I'm guessing it's running really late, I'll still be up if you want to study or even just a phone call. Talk to you later.

Lexie smiled. He was so kind and caring. She wished she had the energy to stay up and study with him, but she was way too tired. It's a good thing she was off tomorrow, and it was Saturday, so Spencer was also off unless he had a case. She texted him back.

Lexie

The shift was long and hard, I'm exhausted. I have to drive home, but I'll call you when I get home if I don't pass out from exhaustion ;)

She sent the text and started her drive home. She really hoped Spencer was free tomorrow, she loved being with him. She really did need to study more, boards were sooner than she liked. Lexie turned up the radio in hopes that she'll stay awake, it wasn't a long drive back to her apartment, but she already felt drowsy.

After successfully not falling asleep at the wheel, she parked and walked to her apartment, and unlocked the door. She didn't see Caroline's car in her usual spot, she assumed she was sleeping at the hospital for the night.

Lexie put her work things away and jumped in the shower, washing anything that happened to cling to her hair and skin during the day. From the shower, she could hear her phone go off. She cursed under her breath remembering that she was supposed to call Spencer when she got home. She quickly finished up her shower and threw on her pajamas and checked her phone.

Spencer

I hope you got home okay. I was called in for a case in Georgia, so I'll be out of town for a few days. I hope we can meet up when I get back. Be safe while driving so tired.

Lexie frowned. She was really hoping to see Spencer again, but she understands when work gets in the way of something. She replied to his text saying she understood and that they would definitely meet up again and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Spencer smiled when Lexie responded saying she understood, he hates it when work got in the way. He really loves his job, but sometimes cases come at the worst times. He put his phone away and looked out the jet window. Everyone else was asleep except for him and Rossi.

"What's on your mind kid?" Rossi asked sitting across from Reid, whiskey in hand. Rossi could always tell when something was up with anyone, Spencer knew he wasn't getting out of this one.

"It's really nothing Rossi, sometimes cases just come at the wrong time." Spencer shrugged it off. He didn't want to tell them about Lexie, they weren't even in an official relationship yet.

Rossi gave Reid a famous David Rossi look, you could tell he was profiling Reid. "Well whoever she is, I'm sure she'll be there when you get back. You're a catch kid."

Spencer looked at Rossi shocked, he always knew everything. He was so good at his job. Spencer chuckled, "You scare me, Rossi." David smiled in return and turned his head to the window.

Spencer spent the rest of the flight thinking of Lexie. He really hoped Rossi was right, that she would still be there. He eventually drifted off to sleep for the rest of the flight.
