3 promises

"Shehry", was all I could say at the time.

I looked at his teary eyes, staring at me, and his smile, showing how happy he was...for me.

I walked down the stage, as the hosts took over to wrap up the ceremony.

Walking over towards my brother, all the memories flashed in front of my eyes.

***** Flash Back*****

"Hussain, I'm marrying Sidra.", he spoke softly, so no one else could hear us.

"Are you crazy? Can you not? You and Amna are meant to be together. This can't happen.", I whispered to him.

We were at the after party for Yaari, and it was our last day in Pakistan.

He grabbed me by my arm, and took me out of the room.

"Amna...has left me! Do you understand that? She has left me...for the second time. I'm done with this now. Jab jaise chahe waise karti hai. I can't deal with this anymore. Aakhir meri bhi toh feelings hai."

"Fine then..agar tuney decide kar liya hai, toh do as you please. I have nothing to do with this marriage or Sidra.

"Won't you hug me?", Shehry snapped me back into reality, and I realized I had stopped

just inches away from him.

He moved forward and wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. By then Mama, Baba, Sana and Maha had also come, and the atmosphere turned into a very emotional one.

"H-how are you?", I spoke, forcing my voice out of my throat.

He smacked my head, "Stop being all formal Hussain."

I laughed, "Shehry, yaar I've missed you so much."

It wasn't long until my smile faded away, when I saw Sidra.

"Congratulations Hussain.", she smiled at me, and I chose not to say anything. Instead I just forced a smile.

I turned my eyes back to Shehry, not paying attention to her.

"Aaah", suddenly Sidra screamed, grabbing her belly, and we all turned towards her.

"Sidra?", Shehry grabbed her, and then looked at us, "I think we need to go to the hospital."

I was so lost in this emotional reunion that I had totally unseen that Sidra was pregnant.

Without wasting a second, I dialed 911 and called for an ambulance.

"Congratulations! It's a girl!", the doctor spoke, but there was not a single speck of happiness visible in his tone.

"Sab theek?", Shehry asked.

The bdoctor said nothing, but led Shehry into the room, and then walked out and closed the door.

Shehry's POV:

I walked into the room, and saw Sidra laying on the bed with a baby cot next to her. I gently picked her up as she squeeled a bit. Her eyes were so tiny, that she couldn't even open them yet. Her tiny hands were all wrinkly and her fists closed tight. A placed a soft kiss on her forehead and felt her warm skin against my lips. I looked at Sidra, as a tear rolled down her eye.

I placed our daughter in her hands, and sat next to her, holding her hands.

"How do you feel now?"

She nodded, "Better"

A moment silence crept into the room, before she spoke up, "Sh-Shehry...kehte hain Shahjahan ne Mumtaz ke jaane se pehle us se 3 vaade kiye the. Kya tum mujhse 3 vaadey kar saktey ho?"

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, "what are you trying to say?"

"Agar mujhey kabhi kuch ho jaye, to kya tum mujhse 3 vaadey karogey?"

"Bakwaas na karo.", I tried to shut her up.

"Bolo Shehry!", she insisted.

"Kya?"

"Tum pana khayal rakhogey!"

I nodded.

"Tum humari beti ka khayal rakhogey, aur usey kabhi meri kami mehsoos nahi honey dogey."

I nodded.

"Humari beti ka naam 'Sidra' hoga."

********AN*******

So you guys, lemme tell you..... the original ending of this story was the chapter where Amna left Shehry with Sidra.

But later I extended the storyline and all these chapters came along....but then something happened.

So I know I said I would update soon, and I would update longer and all that but honestly speaking, I was actually going to stop writing this story.

Yes, that's right.

I have a few reasons, which I don't want to disclose just yet, which led me to think that I should stop writing. But a lot of you have been messaging me to update, so it finally took me some courage to sit down with my laptop and write out this short chapter.

Thanks for being so patient.

Much love.
