Umeed abhi baaki hai...

3 months later:

“And that is a wrap”, said api, as we finished shooting the last scene of the movie.

“Wow! Can’t believe its done! Its been 3 months already! Time flies doesn’t it?”, Sidra asked me, nudging her elbow against mine.

“It does! It feels like yesterday, that we started shooting and now, it over!”, I said making a sad face, remembering the journey through this shoot.

**snap**

“Oye!”, Hussain snapped his fingers in front of my face, to bring me back to reality. “Let’s go, celebrate yaar! It’s DB TIME!”, he added.

“Yesssss! Lets go!”, Sidra got up, excited, but her smile turned into a frown in no time.

“Umm… Sidra, I said DB time… just us guys! Sorry!”, Hussain said.

“Yaar aise na kar! Sidra and Sana should join us too!”, I said. I felt bad because they were now a part of Yaari, and not inviting them didn’t make sense to me.

Hussain just gave me a ‘I know what I’m doing’ look, and signaled me to keep quite and I agreed, like an obedient brother, which I am!

“Lets go..”, Hussain turned around and walked, and I was going to follow him to the others, but Sidra caught hold of my hand, and I stopped.

“Sidra?”, I said, looking at her, and then lowering my gaze towards our hands, which were still together.

She realized, and quickly let go, and said, “Oh- uhh—Sorry Shehry, I didn’t mean to..”, and lowered her eyes towards the ground.

“What’s wrong?”, I asked as I raised her face up.

She didn’t say anything, but gave me a big hug, which was quiet unexpected.

“Sidra, kya hua?”, I asked, pulling myself back and looking straight into her eyes.

She just stared at me for a while, but didn’t say anything.

I stared back into her eyes, which wanted to tell me something. She held my hands in hers, looked up at me, and said, “Look, I don’t know how I am going to do this, but umm… I just wanted to say..I love you Shehry!”, and leaned in closer to my face, as if she were about to kiss me.

I was shocked. I moved back hastily, “SIDRA! What are you doing?”

“I love you Shehry!”, she said again.

“Look, I’m-I’m sorry. This can’t happen!”, I said, still recovering from the shock.

“Why?”, she asked, astonished.

“Because…I’m not ready for this, just yet…”, I said. Although I wanted to tell her about Amna, and about my past, I decided to keep quiet. “Sidra, listen to me. I’m sure you like me, and I like you too, but just as a friend! I’ve never seen you in that way!”

“Shehry, you’re the reason I did Yaari! It was you all along!”, she said, and a tear escaped her eye.

I grabbed her hand, and took her into my car.

“Whata re you doing?”, she asked, confused.

“Just come with me! I have to tell you something…”, I ordered.

We sat in my car, and I drove towards the coffee shop that was 2 blocks away.

Upon reaching, I parked, and we walked into the coffee shop. I texted Hussain, on the way, that I would be a little late, as I had something important to do.

We sat on a table in the corner, and I ordered a cup of hot chocolate, since I don’t drink coffee, and she ordered a cup of cappuccino.

“Tum coffee nahi peetay ho?”, she asked me.

I smiled, “Nahi, mujhe coffee nahi pasand.”

“Oh”, she smiled back.

As I took the first sip of my hot chocolate, I spoke, “Sidra, there’s something really important that I have to tell you!”

“What is it?”, she asked, with a confused expression on her face.

“Look, I love someone else. I was going to get engaged to her 2 years ago, and then something happened and the engagement broke off, and her parents took her back to Pakistan. We were in love with each other. I haven’t spoken to her since then, but I still love her very much.”, I said, and my eyes got teary.

“My heart belongs only to her and no one else.”, I added.

She looked at me, with a very shocked expression on her face, and said, “Are you serious?!”

“Very…”, I replied, wiping away my tears.

But her expression seemed more of a surprised one rather than a sad one.

“What’s wrong?”, I asked her.

“Shehry, I think you need to know this. Amna, the one you’re talking about…I know her!”, she replied as she held my hands. “She’s my cousin, a distant one, but I know her!”, she added.

“What? Were you at our engagement? Do you know where she is?”, I bombarded her with questions.

“Shehry! Calm down!”,she stopped me. “No I wasn’t at your engagement because I was in New York back then. And our families aren’t very close. But I know, through the aunties in our family that like to spread things about other people’s personal lives, that she was going to get engaged to a guy called Shehryaar, and the engagement broke off. But little did I know that the guy was you.”

“Yeah, and I never announced to DBnation either, so I don’t blame you.”, I said. “But do you know where she is now?”, I asked.

“Umm…mujhe pata toh nahi hai. I heard they moved back to Pakistan back then. Uske baad I never heard anything about her.”, she said, but then paused, as if she was trying to recollect something, and said, “Lekin, I think mama might now. I can ask her , for you..”

Hussain’s POV:

“Yaar yeh Shehry kahan reh gaya?”, Atif asked me with a very irritated tone, while trying to call him on his phone.

“Nahi pata yaar. He said he had something important to do…”, I said trying to think where could he have gone.

Konsa zaroori kaam aagaya hai tujhe, Shehry?

I sent him about 10 texts, and called him 5 times, but got no reply.

“Guys! I think he forgot…”, Waqas said with a sad face.

Right then I got a call from him.

“He didn’t! He’s calling me…”, I told Waqas, and then answered the phone, ‘Shehry, yaar kidhar hai tu?”

“Im-Im sorry Hussain. Where are you guys? I’m coming now..”, he said from the other side.

“Agha Juice! Jaldi aa”, I ordered him, and he agreed.

I disconnected the call, and Atif asked me, “Kya hua?”

“He’s coming now…”, I told him, and we all went in and ordered something to eat or drink. I ordered a Khoya Kulfi for Shehry and I. Waqas ordered a Chocolate Falooda, and Atif ordered a Kola Ganda.

‘Is it ganda? Haha, gande bache ko sirf Kola Gandha milta hai..”, Waqas laughed, after cracking one of his corny jokes. “No? No? Okay..”

We all just looked at each other and nodded, and Waqas felt embarrassed.

“Hey guys!”, I heard, and I turned around to find Shehry.

“Yaaaar where in the world were you?” Atif asked him, to which he replied, “Sorry yaar, koi zaroori kaam aagaya tha!”

He then looke at me and Waqas and asked, “Did you guys order?”

“We did…and we ordered for you too..”, Waqas replied.

“What did you order?”, he asked.

“Khoya Kulfi!”, Waqas replied with a huge ass smile on his face.

Soon, our ice cream was ready, and we all went and sat on some chairs that were placed outside.

“Guys, Guys…I feel so lost! Is it because I’m having KHOYA wali kulfi?”, Shehry said.

“Haha I like that one! That was good!”, Waqas praised him and we all laughed.

We all sat there telling corny jokes, and pulling each other’s legs for a while, and then I looked at my watch and realized it was almost 10 o clock!

“Guys it’s 10! I think we should leave!”, I spoke.

They all looked at their watches, and agreed.

Atif decided to go with Waqas in his Mustang, and Shehry and I went in Shehry’s car.

We sat in, with Shehry on the driver’s side, because he wouldn’t let me drive after what happened 3 months back.

As he turned the car on and started to drive, I asked him, “Dude! Where were you today?”

He just nodded and said, “I had something to do!”

“Do what?”, I asked him, as I raised my voice.

“Did you know Sidra was Amna’s cousin?”, he asked me.

“Wait what? Are you serious? How do you know that?”, I asked him with a very surprised expression.

“Sidra loves me!”, he said.

“Shehry! What Is going on?”, I asked him very confused. I mean he was not answering me, and instead he was just telling me very surprising things that happened that day.

“Answer me man…what’s going on?”, I asked him again.

“She said she loves me, and then I decided to tell her about Amna, and turns out that they are distant relatives.”, he answered.

“Well…? Did you ask her about her? Where is she?”,  I inquired.

“She is in Pakistan..”, he replied.

“Wow Shehry! Like I didn’t know that!”, I told him in a very irritated tone.

“She said she’ll try to find out about her and tell me…”, he said.

**tringg**

We both got a text, and I looked at my phone to see who it was.

Api – We’re going to Pakistan for the Yaari premiere.

“Shehry! We’re going to Pakistan for Yaari premiere!”, I said.
