Palat meri jaan!

Shehry’s POV:

“And now, the star cast of YAARI!”, announced the host, as she welcomed us on the stage.

Hussain walked first, with Sana, I followed him with Sidra and we were followed by Waqas and Atif.

The audience began to applaud, and the entire environment seemed nothing less than a Bollywood movie premiere.

InshAllah, one day people will applaud for me like this, but as a director.

We all took our seats, and there was paparazzi all around. Everyone had their phones, and cameras out, clicking pictures.

There was small group of girls, right in the front, yelling ‘DhoomBros’ at the top of their voices.

DBnation!

Soon the reporters started asking us questions.

“Hussain Asif, you play the lead character opposite Sana. Kya asli zindagi mein bhi you play the main lead opposite her?”, asked one, interrogatively.

Uff in reporters ko iss ke alawa aur kuch bhi nahi aata.

Hussain chuckled, “Nahi, nahi aisa kuch nahi hai..”

“Sana, aapka kya kehna hai is baarey mein?”, he continued.

Sana just smiled, and didn’t answer.

“Shehryaar Asif. Aap Hussain ke bade bhai hai, aapne lead role kyu nahi ki?”, one of them asked me.

“I wanna be a director. I don’t think I have the face, or the talent to be an actor.”, I replied.

Throughout the entire two-hour duration, we were bombarded with questions, related to our movie, life, experiences, everything.

‘Okay guys ab bas. We gotta get going..”, Khurram bhai said, as he got up from his chair.

The reporters continued asking questions, but we decided to ignore and kept moving, otherwise, the even would never get over.

“We did it guys! Our first ever large scale produced movie!”, Waqas exclaimed as soon as we reached the back stage.

Huge smile crept on all our faces, and we all leaned in for a group hug.

“Guys, guys! Lets do a meet and greet! What say?”, Waqas jumped. “I mean DBnation always complains, toh kyuna aaj ho hi jaye?”

“Baat toh sahi ki, par dude, do you realize kitna crowd hoga?”, Hussain said. “I mean its not even an organized meet and greet! Its going to get out of control!”

“True that!”, I agreed.

“Hmm..maybe we should plan it out first then we can have it.”, Atif added.

We all agreed that it was not a good idea to have it now, so we waited for the event organizers to clear out the hall, so we could leave the venue without being bothered.

“Guys! Everyone left, you guys can go ahead now.”, said one of the organizers, as he barged into the room.

Amna’s POV:

Everyone had left, and I decided to wait outside the venue to meet Shehry.

I don’t know if this is the right thing to do. Will I be able to face him after 2 years? What am I going to say?

Weird thoughts raced my mind.

I waited for a few minutes, but then I felt like I didn’t have the courage to face Shehry and so I decided to leave. I got up and turned around to leave but was stopped by someone.

“Hi”

I immediately recognized that voice. Shehryaar!

I turned around, and glanced at his hand, holding mine. Realizing, he quickly let go.

My heart began to beat fast, as I was facing the love of my life.

He leaned forward to hug me, but something stopped him.

“Kaisi ho?”, he asked, staring straight into my eyes. I felt like his eyes were piercing into mine, as if he wanted to get into my eyes, and see everything that had happened in the past few years.

“Main theek..you?”, I answered, softly.

“Main bhi theek.”, he replied, with bland tone.

We stood there, really awkwardly, as none of us spoke.

Say something Shehryaar. Baat karo mujhe se!

H sighed, “So you came to our premire..”

I nodded.

“You and Sidra looked good together on screen.”, I said, although it hurt me so much seeing them together.

He smiled, “Thanks..”

“Itni formality?”, I questioned.

“I guess..”, he replied.

I decided not to answer, and an awkward silence crept between us.

I glanced at his face. He looked so much more mature than he did before. His clean stubble, his perfectly set hair, and his well toned body.

So much had changed between us, even though my heart kept telling me that nothing had changed.

I let out a deep sigh, because there was so much to say, but no words came out of my mouth.

After about a few minutes, he decided to speak up.

“Itni asani se bhool gayi tum mujhe?”, he asked, and I could see his eyes tear up.

Me? It’s you who has moved on Shehryaar!

“Tumne bhi toh mujhe bula diya..”, I replied.

He wiped a tear that rolled down his cheek, with his sleeve, and said, “I guess this is what is meant to be. Have a happy life ahead.”, and started to walk away.

Really? Aise hi chor ke chale jao gey phir se?

A part of me wanted to run upto him, and stop him, and hug the life out of him, but the other part stopped me. He wasn’t mine anymore. He didn’t belong to me. I had no right to stop him.

“Shehry, main nahi bhooli tumhe, aur na kabhi bhula sakti hoon!”, I whispered, wiping away a tear that rolled down my cheek.

“Hi Amna!”, a voice behind me said.

I turned around to find Hussain standing there, with his hands folded across his chest.

“Hussain..hey!”, I replied, trying to hold in the rest of my tears.

“How are you?”, he asked.

“Just holding on to life…”, I sighed.

He caught hold of my arm, and started walking in a hurried manner.

“Huss-“, I tried to speak but he didn’t let me.

“Sshh, just come..”

He took me into the parking, unlocked his car, and opened the door.

“Get in!”, he ordered.

I didn’t know how to react.

“C’mon hurry up…”, he said, tapping his left foot on the ground.

I caught hold of my dupatta, and sat in. He closed the door, and walked towards the driver’s side, and got in.

I was really confused as to what was going on, and he probably saw it on my face.

“Relax.”, he said, as he started driving.

“Relax? How in the world am I supposed to relax when I don’t even know whats going on!”, I yelled.

Even before I could ask him where we were headed to, he interrupted.

“How could you do this to my brother Amna?”, he yelled back, and I was really surprised, because Hussain never spoke to me like that.

“How could He do this to me?”, I replied in the same manner.

“You know how much he loved you..”, he said, making a sharp right turn that threw me towards the window.

“And what about the love I had for him?”, I said, rubbing my arm, that hit the door when he turned.

“What about all those promises he made to me? Hai koi jawab? Na tumhare paas hai, na tumhare bhai ke paas!”, I yelled.

“Bas karo Amna bas! Kitna cheekho gi?”, he said, in a calm manner this time.

“Nahi! Bol ne do mujhe! Let me yell it all out! Itne din se jo maine apne andar chupa kar rakha hai, bahir nikalne do mujhe!”, I cried.

“Kya chupa kar rakha?”, he asked.

“I still love your brother Hussain. I still do! Kitne messages bheje maine, kintni callein ki! Par ek jawab nahi diya tumhare bhai ne!”, I sad, literally bursting out in tears.

“Messages? Calls? He never mentioned about those ever! Instead he always tried looking for you!”, Hussain replied in a very surprised manner.

“Looking for me..”, I said letting out a sarcastic laugh. “It wasn’t that hard for him to find me, considering he already had my number from all those calls and texts..”

“But does your husband know about it?”, he asked, as we came to a stop right outside a building that said, “THE ASIF MANZIL”, that caught my attention.

“Hus-Hussain why ar-are we here?”, I questioned him, raising my eyebrows.

“Because I want you and Shehry to talk it out!”, he replied.

“Tum pagal toh nahi ho gaye ho?”, I yelled, reluctant to open my door. “I’m not getting out!”

“Amna, you guys have to talk! Warna tum apni jagah aur who apni jagah, zindagi bhar aise hi gham mein doobey rahogey!”, he tried convincing me but I was hesitant.

“Nahi main nahi jaa rahi..”, I replied, folding my arms across my chest. “And that’s final!”

“Amna please yaar! I can’t see my brother like that anymore!”, he begged, but I knew I wasn’t going to change my decision.

“Tumhare us bhai ke liye main nahi jaaney wali, jisse toh meri koi parwaah hi nahi!”, I replied.

“Parwaah hai Amna! He still loves you too!”, he said, and those words almost numbed me.

“Loves me? Is that why he is with Sidra?”, I asked.

“What do you mean?”, he asked as if he did not know anything.

“Bano mat Hussain! You know exactly what I’m talking about!”, I replied, looking at his face, that still had the shocked expression.

“He is not with Sidra! He is not with anyone! Jab se tum gayi ho, he hasn’t returned back to Shehryaar! Do you understand that? Aur jab use pata chala ki tumhari shaadi ho chuki, he has completely broken down from the inside!”, he blurted.

“Shaadi? Meri shaadi?”, I was shocked.

“Jee haan tumhari shaadi!”, he replied.

“Meri shaadi ho chuki, aur mujhe hi nahi maloom!”, I let out the sarcastic laugh again. “Was that his excuse, to move on and date Sidra?”

“HE IS NOT WITH SIDRA!”, he said irritated.

“AND I’M NOT MARRIED!”, I imitated him.

“Okay….hold on…”, he said calming himself down. “You’re not married…but that guy…that day…”

I explained to him how he was my cousin’s husband, and he rested his head on the steering wheel.

“SHIT”, was all he said.

But then he suddenly raised his head, and said, “Sidra..Sidra told him you’re married!”, snapping his fingers. “I get it now! She told you that Shehry is dating her, right?”

I nodded. I understood the entire plot too.

“Sidra ki bachi..”, I whispered to myself.

“Don’t worry, we got this..”, Hussain whispered back.
