Jinni mohhabat karaan tenu, ohni hi nafrat kare tu yaaran

Shehry’s POV:

I saw her. She was standing by the ice cream store, looking through the glass, trying to choose a flavor.

She was wearing a black churidar, and had her hair open like the olden days. She looked a lot better than the last time I had seen her at the airport.

“Did she see you?”, asked Hussain.

I nodded, gesturing a no, but my eyes didn’t move from her sight.

I wanted to go and hug her. I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to ask her how she was.

She hadn’t noticed me, so I started walking towards her, but as I got closer I stopped.

A man walked upto her, with a little girl in his hands, and paid for the ice cream.

Who is he? Her husband? Is that her child?

And then I realized, what Sidra had said. She was married.

“Shehry kya hua?”, Hussain asked me as I turned around.

“Dude, uska husband bhi hai. I can’t go talk to her!”, I replied.

Hussain agreed, and we both walked back to the store where Sidra and Sana were waiting for us.

“Kahan chale gaye they tum log?”, Sana asked, with a confused expression.

“Woh…bas aise hi!”, Hussain replied.

“Chalo ice cream khane chalet hain!”, Sidra exclaimed.

Shit! No, not ice cream please!

“Haan! Lets go guys!”, Sana joined in.

Hussain and I just looked at each other, and I moved my head telling him a no.

Hussain nodded and said, “Guys how about we go somewhere else for ice cream? Maine suna, yaha achi ice cream nahi milti..”

Sidra widened her eyes in shock and said, “What? Yaha Lahore ki best ice cream milti hai!”, grabbing my head and walking towards the ice cream store, while Sana pulled Hussain.

As we got closer, I saw Amna was still there, sitting on a table with her husband and child.

We sat in a table at the other end, and Sidra noticed Amna.

“Omg Amna’s here!”, Sidra exclaimed, and Sana turned towards her in surprise, but then saw mine and Hussain’s face.

“You guys go ahead, and meet her if you want to. Shehry and I are gonna stay here.”, Hussain spoke.

Thankyou Hussain.

“I’m staying too.”, Sana added.

Sidra got up and walked towards the Amna, and Sidra placed her hand on her shoulder.

Amna turned around, and was shocked to see her there.

They hugged each other and started talking. Amna introduced her to her husband, and then Sidra pointed at us.

Amna just glanced and then looked away.

“Guys, I cant sit here, please bahar wait karte hain?”,  said, and Hussain agreed.

The 3 of us went out, and waited for Sidra who came after 5 minutes.

“Kya hua?”, she asked.

“Kuch nahi lets go..”, I replied and walked off, and they followed.

Amna’s POV:

I couldn’t believe I saw Shehry, after so long.

“Sorry guys, thoda late ho gaya..”, Alina said, as she returned from the washroom.

Alina is my cousin, who had come from London, with her husband and daughter. I was showing them around Lahore.

“Arey koi nahi!”, replied Azan. “Pata hai, abhi Amna ki cousin ayi thi yaha!”

“Kaun?”, Alina asked.

“Sidra! Yaad hai tumhe?”, I asked her, cause she was Alina’s cousin too.

“Oh yeah I remember!”, she replied.

We then headed home, and all I could think about, that day, was the fact that I saw Shehry. He hadn’t changed one bit. The same face, same hair, same style, The only thing was he had gotten muscular.

I went upto my room, and threw myself on my bed.

But Sidra introduced him as her boyfriend. BOYFRIEND?

Tears escaped my eyes.

I thought about all those promises we made to each other.

I thought about the last time I had seen him at the airport. How much it hurt me to tell him goodbye. How much it hurt me to see him heartbroken.

But I was left with no choice.

I’ve always wanted you back in my life Shehry but not like this.

Really Shehry? Really? How could you do this? You’re dating my cousin. Itni asani se mujhe bhool gaye Shehry?

I tried contacting you so many times, all those voice mails that I left, all those texts, all those messages….was this the reason why you never answered?

Ek ghalti ki itni badi saza?

Main itne din se tumhara intezaar kar rahi hoon, and you’ve moved on, so easily?

Does Sidra know about his past? About our past?

I grabbed my phone and called Sidra, on her number that she gave me at the mall.

“Hello?”, answered a voice, from the other end, and I immediately recognized that voice.

It was Shehry’s.

I quickly disconnected, not wanting to talk to him.

I called again after a few minutes, and he answered again.

Uff! Yeh kyu answer kar raha hai?

I disconnected again, and decided to try later.

Hussain’s POV:

“Who’s it?”, I asked Shehry, who was holding Sidra’s phone in his hands.

“Nahi pata. 2 baar call ki kisi ne likein jawab hi nahi de raha!”, he replied placing her phone on the table.

“Wise Shehry, tu theek to hai? I mean Amna…”, I trailed off.

“Haan yaar, I’m fine. I knew she was married. Whatever, maybe she was never meant for me.”, he smiled.

I know you’re really hurt on the inside Shehry. You just don’t wanna show it.

I smiled back.

Sidra entered the room and said, “I think I left my phone in that bag..”, pointing at the bag that had Sana’s dress in. “May I have it?”

Shehry picked up the phone, and said, “Someone called you twice, but didn’t say anything when I answered.”, handing her the phone.

She quickly grabbed her phone and said, “Kaun?”, going through the recents in her phone.

Her face expression changed when she saw the number.

“Did you talk to that person? What did he/she say?”, she asked Shehry in a very surprised tone.

“Calm down..they never said anything from the other side..”, he replied, and she let out a sigh..

“Kyu? Who is it?”, he added.

“Woh- actually, umm-m-meri bachpan ki d-dost hai…annoying hai bohot. She wants to meet me but I don’t wanna meet her.”, she replied, avoiding any sort of eye contact with any of us.

Why is she behaving this way? Something’s wrong.

After she left the room, I spoke, “Shehry, tujhe iska behavior kuch alag nahi laga?”

Shehry furrowed his brows in confusion and said, “Nahi toh. Tujhe laga?”

I shrugged my shoulders and said, “I don’t know. Maybe its just me..”

Although I knew, she was up to something, and I was going to find out what.

I walked out of the room, and followed her to see who was it who was calling her.

I reached her door, and stood outside, trying to listen.

“Kyu call kiya? Next time please don’t call.. at this time..”

“Oh what happened?”

“Really? He never told me.”

“Oh are you serious? He said he dated someone 2 years ago, and broke up, but never told me about you.”

“WHAT? ENGAGEMENT?”

“OMG!”

“Okay, I’ll call you later gtgo..”

Who is she talking to? And about whom? What is going on? What is she upto?

I then heard her walking towards the door from the inside so I left.

Amna’s POV:

He never told her about me? Does he really hate me so much and wanted to forget me that he never mentioned anything about me to her?

I’m sorry Shehry! I never meant to hurt you.

At that moment I felt like my life had crashed down. All this while I was living in hope that someday, he’d reply, someday he’d get back to me. But that day, I realized the truth. The truth that he wanted to forget me

I didn’t know what to do at that point of time. I felt like my life had no point.

I was numb. I didn’t know whether to cry, or get angry, or feel sad. I honestly felt like bucket of emotions.

I wiped away my tears, sat up on my bed and took a deep breath.

I need to talk to him. I need to know why he did this to me. I need to confront him.

Sidra said they were there for the premiere, which was supposed to happen he next day.

So I decided to attend the premiere.

Baddal, dharti,

Mere naal aalam roye saara.

Jinni mohhabat karaan tenu,

Ohni hi nafrat kare tu yaaran,

Jaani taanu yaad aau vichara.

Haan ik din aauga mera vi vekhi tu,

Jad rooh teri mere vas ho gayi.

Saari umar main Joker jeha banya reha,

Tere piche eh zindgi circus ho gayi.

Kya khoob sikhaya, wah! menu tu jeena,

Zinda vi rehna te zehar vi peena.

Dil te zakham deke menu keha tu,

Rona vi nahi te zakham bhi nahi seena.
