How Far They'll Go

Dabi strolled back into the League's headquarters leisurely after giving Hawks his mission. Maybe the hero would do it, maybe he wouldn't. Dabi found himself wondering how far the heroes would be willing to go to take them down.

Depending on what Hawks did, they would soon find out.

"How'd it go? Did he agree?" Shigaraki asked.

Dabi nodded. "Yeah he did." he said dryly. "So Tomura- where is everyone?"

The crusty man shrugged. "Toga's out killing people with Spinner and Twice, Compress is who knows where and Kurogiri is with Compress in who knows where."

"So it's just you and me," Dabi said, scowling. "Damn. I was really hoping for some intelligent conversation when I came home."

Shigaraki grit his teeth but didn't say anything.

"Too bad. I only have you to talk to," Dabi went on in a sad tone. In his mind, however, he was eagerly waiting to see the blue haired man's reaction, hoping for something satisfying.

"And I can only talk to you. Guess we both don't get what we want," Shigaraki grumbled in response.

"Oh Shiggy, you're not fooling anyone, love." Dabi winked, roaring with laughter internally at the look of horror on his boss' face.

Shigaraki turned to him with disgust written plain on his face. "Ew. Go back to your eye candy I can't deal with you right now."

"My what?"

"Hawks." Shigaraki answered simply, sliding off his bar stool and heading down the hall. "I'm going to bed."

"Want me to join?"

"I will disintegrate you."

The next day, Dabi woke up to a crazy blond with her hair down jumping on his bed. "Daaaaabi, get up!" Toga complained. "It's almost 11:30 and you and I have to go see if the new recruit did as you asked. How anyone other than a pro or commission member would be able to do that is beyond me but- I need you to do my hair, that's the important thing!"

Dabi pushed Toga off the bed sleepily, groaning when she started hopping on him again.

"Get up!"

"Fine, but get off of me Psycho!" Dabi groaned.

Toga giggled and jumped off the bed, shoving a hair brush and bobby pins into his hands.

Dabi rolled his eyes and motioned for her to sit in front of him.
"Thanks!" she cheered, plopping down in front of him.

"Yeah yeah. Buns?" Dabi checked. Toga nodded eagerly and Dabi brushed out her hair, quickly pulling her hair apart and tying it up into its usual duel messy bun style.

"Guess what happened yesterday?" Toga said while Dabi fiddled with a bobby pin.

"What?" Dabi asked, voice still heavy with sleep.

"I bought these things called acrylics and you put them on your nails! They basically are like painting your nails but way fancier and they can be super long. I tried putting some on last night but it didn't really work so I had to..." Toga rambled on about her adventure with acrylic nails, somehow getting sidetracked at one point talking about dinosaurs and at another talking about Barbie.

She reminded him of Natsuo, how he would always ramble the whole time they did their homework together. Even though they were in different grades, the two brothers had always done their homework together.

When Dabi finished Toga's braids he let her keep rambling as he picked out his clothes and entered his closet, glancing at her fiddling with the bracelet he had made her before closing the door with a sharp snap! and changing quickly.

As soon as he stepped out of said closet a blonde girl came barreling toward him, a knowing smile on her face.

"So you're gay?" she asked.

Dabi blinked. "What?"

"You came out of the closet! Oh Dabs, I'm so proud, please keep in mind that I don't judge you at all. I still love and support you and I-"

"Toga!" Dabi interrupted.

"What?" she asked, stopping and staring at him, her smile faltering slightly.

"I'm not gay." Dabi said, rolling his eyes as he walked over to his bed and began to make it.

"Are you sure?" Toga asked, skipping behind him.

Dabi hesitated. Unlucky for him, Toga caught it.

"You hesitated! I knew it!" Toga grinned again and brought her hands up to her cheeks, smiling brightly.

"No I've just... never really thought about it." Dabi corrected. "I could be, I suppose, but I've never felt the need to find out."

"Are you sure? Do you like someone?" Toga giggled. "I bet you do."

"No, I don't." Dabi grumbled, throwing a pillow onto his bed. "And don't we have somewhere to go?"

"Yeah. Who is this mysterious recruit anyways?" Toga asked.

Dabi didn't answer. He knew Shigaraki still didn't want him to tell the rest of the league who the new recruit was- most likely because they were all blabber mouths- but if he didn't want them to know, why had he told Toga to go with him? She was right, only a pro hero or commission member would be able to clear an entire street for four hours.

Whether he would or not was a completely different question.

"Let's go then." Dabi said instead of answering Toga's question.

~

Toga skipped merrily beside Dabi, disguised as a boy with dark blue hair and light blue tips. She looked as though she was about seventeen with light blue eyes and nails painted black. Her name for the current situation was apparently Luka, an aspiring musician.

Dabi had a feeling Luka didn't skip, but he didn't say anything.

They arrived at the street a few moments before the time that Hawks had been ordered to empty it. So far there were still people there.

I hope he gave that little girl her bracelet. Dabi found himself thinking, a soft blue fire flickering in his fingertips. Because if this place isn't empty in two minutes he won't have the time left on earth to do so.

"Hey, tone down the fire before we get caught." Toga grumbled in a low voice. It was weird to hear her sound like anything other than her high pitched crazy self- this person's voice was soft, almost... soulful. It was weird when you realized that it was Himiko Toga speaking.

Dabi quickly let his flames die down. They weren't super big and boisterous at the moment, but fire had a way of getting out of hand really quick.

"There's still people." Dabi grumbled.

Toga shrugged. "Whoever it is still has thirty seconds."

Twenty.

Fifteen.

Ten. Dabi felt a smirk tug at his lips as a few cars still kept coming.

Nine.

Eight.

Seven. There were still a few people around.

Six.

Five.

Four-

"Get out of here, stragglers!" a voice called. A few old cops rushed a final car out of the street before driving out themselves, at exactly noon.

"They actually did it." Toga breathed.

Dabi smirked.

So the heroes were willing to do as they asked.

This could be very interesting. Very interesting indeed.

Teehee I promise you'll be getting some actual DabixHawks soon. I just like slow burn because then it feels like I accomplished more when they finally get together? Oh yeah, and angst hurts more.

Not, because *cough* I'm gonna make *cough cough* angst or *clears throat* anything like that *hides*
