Ruby Feathers

Dabi hurried after Hawks as the hero led the way to a plain white door.

"Extracting blood..." came a muffled voice from behind the door.

Hawks looked to Dabi, mouthing three, two- Dabi nodded and pushed the door open at one.

"Let go of her!" Hawks yelled.

There were about three men inside the room, not counting Kenji. One of those men ran forward and deep blue smoke tendrils were growing on his arms.

"This is Kamiya Nori," Hawks said, backing into a more comfortable fighting position. "Quirk: Smoke. Basically he can create these tendrils of smoke but they-"

Dabi felt the impact of the dark blue smoke slammed into his stomach, pushing him back against the wall.

"-They have actual mass," Hawks finished with a grimace as he sliced a feather through the tendril.

"I figured that out, actually." Dabi grumbled as he hit the floor. "I got it," he added, throwing a well aimed ball of fire at the man's stomach.

"Take care of them!" Kenji yelled to the other two men. Dabi caught a glimpse of Toga, who was strapped down with long strips of leather and cuffs to a hospital bed, a needle poking into her right wrist, her blood slowly dripping into the blood bag next to her.

"You assholes, she's a kid!" Dabi shouted as he dodged a blow from one of the men. Neither man said anything, which just pissed Dabi off more.

Before Dabi could burn the men alive, however, Hawks interrupted him. "Take care of Kenji, I've got these two."

Dabi glanced at him, considering quickly, but Hawks made up his mind for him.

"I've trained for every possible situation for twelve years, Dabi, I know how to fight injured. Toga's the one in trouble!"

Dabi nodded and dodged the men as he ran to Kenji. The room was bigger than he had expected, so it allowed for actual space for a fight, unlike the room he had fought Hawks in that was cramped and piled high with things, this room was so empty.

"Let her go," Dabi growled.

Kenji turned to him, a smirk playing on his lips. "I'd really rather not. I don't know how you figured out the chip, but congrats on that one, really, I was quite surprised when my remote informed me it wasn't connected anymore."

"You're a monster," Dabi spat.

Kenji laughed. "I'm a monster? Well, yes, I suppose I am. But I've always been taught that it takes one to know one."

Dabi growled low in his throat, pushing away the horrible feeling of having his own thoughts voiced to him.

"Help me-" Toga's voice was cut off by a flick of Kenji's wrist.

His quirk allows him to silence people? Helpful.

"Enough with these pleasantries. I offered you a chance to let her go peacefully, but I suppose we'll just have-"

"-To turn up the heat?" Kenji finished with a scary twinkle in his eyes. "Afraid you'd have to be able to see me to burn me."

With that, Kenji's form melted away, and Dabi felt a fist connect with his stomach.

Grunting, Dabi swung wildly around, trying to see some way to find Kenji. The needle in Toga's wrist shifting made a fire grow in Dabi's hand, the villain carefully aiming for the area in that spot.

Whatever had been there wasn't there anymore, because Dabi was suddenly being held by a strong grip and thrown backwards into the wall. When he opened his mouth out to call for Hawks' help, the sound died in his throat.

Dabi bit his lip and looked around the room. Hawks was still busy with the men, and-

Another punch to the abdomen sent Dabi sprawling, gasping silently for breath.

Kenji appeared once more, a wicked grin on his face. "I honestly thought you'd be a more difficult match, I'm disappointed Touya."

Dabi froze, eyes widening in horror.

Kenji chuckled. "Oh yes, I know all about you. It doesn't take a genius to put the two together, not to mention it doesn't seem you did much to hide it."

It was true, Dabi hadn't actually done anything except dye his hair. Most of the 'fake your own death' was done by Endeavor, so Dabi's job was fairly easy- don't tell everyone your real name and keep your hair black.

Dabi opened his mouth to answer but no noise came out.

Kenji laughed again. "Sorry, but I don't particularly need to hear your side of the story." He turned invisible once more. A foot connected with Dabi's side and the villain curled into himself on the floor. He felt pathetic, but what else was he supposed to do? He couldn't even see his opponent, and one fire ball that went too far off course could hit the walls and set them on fire, hit Hawks, or hit Toga, and Dabi was fairly certain that burning the person you were supposed to be saving alive wasn't a good way to get them away safely.

"Help Da-" Toga shouted before Kenji cut her off again.

But it was enough. One glance up and his eyes met Hawks', who had to turn back to his fight quickly.

Dabi simply hoped that he'd hurry up and help him out here.

Kenji appeared again, smiling darkly above Dabi as the villain coughed blood onto the floor and wheezed for breath.

"I'm sorry to do this Dabi, but unfortunately I-"

Kenji's eyes widened and he cut off, falling to the floor in a heap, blood seeping out of his back.

Hawks stood behind him, ruby feather stained the deep red of blood and a horrorstruck look on his face.
