"We Have a Mission For You"

Hawks collapsed through his balcony doors after his patrols finally finished around seven AM. Night Patrols were usually slightly shorter than day patrols.

"What the hell Hawks!" Mirko shouted, running over to him.

Hawks groaned. "You were in no state to go into work Mirko, I had to do something!"

"Well I'm fine now so- so go to bed and I'll take your patrols tomorrow." Mirko demanded.

"Okay," Hawks agreed tiredly. "Knock yourself out."

"I didn't expect you to say yes." Mirko grumbled.

"Ah, but you already agreed little bunny!" Hawks said, booping her nose then rushing into his room. "Thanks!"

Mirko may have said something, but Hawks was already asleep.

Hawks woke up to the feeling of someone watching him. He groaned and rubbed his eyes, expecting the feeling to go away, not to see Dabi sitting in his window sill, eyeing him with an amused glint in his eyes.

"Oh my God!" Hawks shouted, pulling his blankets around himself. Of course the one night Hawks hadn't had the energy to change into pajamas and had just gone to bed in his boxers was the night that the Edward Cullen wannabe would be sitting in his window. "What are you, a Twilight Vampire?" Hawks demanded, much more awake than he usually was in the mornings.

Dabi chuckled and hopped down from the window.

"I like watching you sleep. I find it fascinating." he whispered, laughing. "Ah, that was a horrible series."

"We're gonna have to talk about that little opinion of yours later, but why are you here?" Hawks demanded.

"Ew don't tell me you like Twilight," Dabi groaned.

"The books weren't that bad!" Hawks objected.

"It was all that bad." Dabi retorted. Hawks glared at him and Dabi put his arms up in mock surrender.

"You still haven't answered my question." Hawks said. "Why are you here?"

"I'm tailing you, remember?" Dabi sat down on top of Hawks' desk. "Tell me, do you usually sleep in a nest?" the villain gestured toward Hawks' bed, which had pillows surrounding it to form a nest-like area, a small indentation in the center showing where Hawks slept.

Hawks simply pulled his covers around him more. "Can you at least turn around so I can change?"

Dabi sighed and slipped off the desk, turning so his back was to the hero.

Hawks edged out of the bed, wincing at the bite of cold. Keeping an eye on Dabi's back, Hawks slipped into his closet and changed into comfortable clothes, happily remembering that Mirko was taking his patrols today.

Hawks exited the closet, happy to see that Dabi was still facing the desk.

"I'm done," he informed the villain.

Dabi turned back around, facing the hero who was wearing a white sweatshirt and jeans.

"Took you long enough," Dabi grumbled.

"I didn't take that long!" Hawks objected, sending a feather to close his window. "Also next time you decide to pull an Edward Cullen, please close the window. It was freezing in here!"

"Aw poor birdie. I really don't care if it was cold." Dabi said, rolling his eyes.

Hawks ignored Dabi and left the room, hearing the soft footsteps of the villain following him into his living room. Hawks pulled the friendship bracelet strings he had bought yesterday off of the coffee table and grabbed his phone, watching a video that explained how to make a chevron whatever that was. The finished product was a 'V' design like the one Ichika had given Hawks.

Hawks selected his colors- orange, yellow, and red- and began to try and follow the instructions listed in the description, occasionally skipping ahead in the video to see what the words meant.

It wasn't going well.

Dabi was watching him struggle with an amused expression, occasionally laughing at the muttered profanities of the pro-hero Hawks.

"Guess the number two hero has met his match, huh?" Dabi said suddenly. Hawks glared at him. "Never thought your greatest opponent would be string."

"It's harder than it looks!" Hawks objected.

"Not really." Dabi stood and sat next to Hawks, grabbing the string Hawks had and pulling out pink, red, and red orange string, cutting them and folding them over. "I'll show you. Get new colors."

Hawks did as instructed.

"You start by organizing your colors however you want them, keeping in mind that you'll stop in the middle." Both Hawks and Dabi separated their colors out, one side of the bracelet hanging onto the floor and untouched. "Now knot the bracelet with a 4 knot of sorts, and..."

It took a while, but eventually Hawks was able to make a semi-decent bracelet. Braiding off the ends, Hawks set it to the side and went into the kitchen.

"You hungry?" he called to his 'guest,' but there was no answer. When Hawks walked back into the living room he saw that it was empty.

He didn't even say goodbye.

At around 5 P.M. Hawks left the bracelet on the bush as he had promised then flew to a nearby KFC. He hadn't had that for three whole days- way too long in his opinion.

He flew home with the bucket of chicken under his arm and slipped into his apartment through the balcony like he usually did.

Hawks took a couple bites of chicken, sitting and flicking through his TV channels when a voice from behind him muttered, "Pretty sure that's cannibalism."

Hawks jumped up, a feather already in his hand and turned to face the intruder, eyes hard, feather sharpened and deadly, aiming directly at where the voice had come from.

Dabi raised an unconcerned eyebrow at the feather just below his chin, a little drop of blood falling to the ground and staining the wood.

Hawks lowered the feather. "Jesus, Dabi, don't scare me like that! And I'm not a chicken."

"You're a bird though," Dabi answered. "Isn't that the same thing?"

"No. I'm a hawk, it's literally in the name. And hawks eat chicks, and would probably eat chickens too if they weren't so big." Hawks corrected, rolling his eyes.

"Whatever. We have a mission for you birdie."

Hawks straightened. "What is it?"

"Empty this area," Dabi slid a map into Hawks' hands, tapping an area marked with a red pen with one long finger, "at noon tomorrow until 4 P.M. Can you do that?"

Hawks nodded, wings twitching nervously. Dabi slipped toward the balcony. "Don't mess up. It'd be a shame if those pretty little wings were ash."

Hawks swallowed as Dabi slipped over the balcony railing.

"What are you-" Hawks started.

"I'm climbing down." Dabi interrupted, rolling his eyes. "How do you think I got up here?"

"Door like a normal person?" Hawks suggested.

Dabi smirked. "I'm not a normal person."

Then he was gone.
