Bruises

Pre-lightning, cause he can't have his speed healing

Barry was clumsy.

That was common knowledge.

So when Barry would show up to work with a few bruises, and claiming they came from some sort of clumsy action, everyone believed him.

But that wasn't the case.

"Let go of me Reagan," Barry whispered, yanking his arm away from the man.

"You don't tell me what to do freak," Reagan said, shoving Barry.

Barry stumbled back.

"If I don't see you after work, you'll have hell to pay," Reagan threatened. Then he marched away.

Barry licked his lips and went back to his work.

Gregory Reagan was the officer that tormented Barry. He would beat him up, insult him, but never in front of others. And, quite frankly, Barry was too scared to do anything about it. He didn't even know why Reagan hated him so much. It's like one day he just decided to hate Barry.

It certainly didn't help that he was the youngest and the weakest physically.

Barry rubbed his arm where Reagan had been gripping him. That would leave a bruise. And he'd have to cover it up since it would look suspicious.

Barry was so lost in thought, he didn't hear the Captain come in to give him some more work.

"Allen!"

Barry snapped back to reality. "Captain Singh! Sorry sir, I was a bit distracted."

"I noticed," he said, "I called your name four times. Are you alright?"

"Yeah," Barry assured, "totally."

Singh raised an eyebrow, but didn't question him. He shook his head, "Here's a few more files."

"Thanks."

Singh nodded and walked out.

Singh could tell something was up with Allen. He just wasn't sure what. He decided to keep an extra eye on him, just to be safe.

He came into work the next day, and watched as Allen came in late. Again.

"Allen!" He called.

Barry ducked his head down and walked into the Captain's office. Singh frowned when he noticed Barry had a black eye and a cut on his forehead.

"What happened Allen?" Singh asked.

"Oh," Barry said, "Uh... well... funny story. So, on the way home yesterday, um, there was this pole that grew out of the ground. And I um... I walked into it."

"You walked into a pole?"

Barry nodded, but wouldn't meet Singh's eyes for more than a half a second. Singh started talking, and he waved his arm.

Barry flinched.

It was almost imperceptible, but Singh noticed and took note. Barry left and Singh paced his office. Something was up with Allen, and he was pretty sure he knew what. He really hoped he was wrong, but he doubted it.

***** LINE BREAK *****

A few days later, there was a crime scene. It was rather gruesome, and Barry didn't think he'd be eating the rest of the day.

Well, that could also be because his ribs were killing him.

Reagan had beat him up again. This time though, it was more brutal. And Barry went home with a few cracked ribs, lots of bruises, and a twisted ankle.

He tried his best not to show it, but, damn, it hurt.

He got back to the precinct and up to his lab, where, much to his dismay, he was met with Reagan.

Barry frowned and tried to ignore him.

"Don't ignore me freak." Reagan growled.

He slammed him into the brick wall, and Barry was pretty sure he heard a few cracks. Barry bit back a cry of pain.

Reagan didn't normally beat him up at work. What changed? Barry thought.

Then, Reagan started to choke him.

Barry was confused and in pain. He couldn't understand why Reagan was trying to kill him. And why he would do it in a place filled with police officers. If Barry were the one trying to kill one of his co workers, he do it somewhere without police officers.

Black spots danced in his vision as Barry's lungs begged for air. He could feel himself slipping into unconsciousness, but then, Reagan's grip slackened and then released completely. Oxygen filled his lungs. Barry gasped for air and rubbed his throat gently. There would be another bruise there for sure.

He heard the familiar clinking of cuffs, and then a thud.

"Allen, you alright?"

***** LINE BREAK *****

Singh watched Allen work with a frown. He was clearly in pain, despite how much he tried to hide it.

Whatever was going on, it needed to stop.

So Singh quietly followed Barry up to his lab once they got back to the precinct.

He saw Barry hesitate, then walk into his lab.

Singh frowned and walked towards Barry's lab. He heard a quiet gasp, the kind when you're searching for air, and he ran the last few steps to the room.

Singh despised what he saw.

He quickly pulled Reagan off of Barry, who slumped to the ground. He cuffed Reagan who tried to fight back, so Singh landed a nice punch to knock him out.

He rushed to Barry's side.

"Allen, you alright?" Singh asked.

Barry didn't say anything, just nodded. Singh rolled his eyes.

"Well, you're not right now, but you will be."

"Rea'an?" Barry croaked.

"Is going to jail." Singh assured. "Now let's get you taken care of."
