Betrayed

WARNING! Not for fans of Iris.

Barry walked up to Joe's house with a heavy sigh.

It was family dinner night, but Iris was bringing her boyfriend. Again.

It's not that Barry didn't like him... He just.... didn't like him.

He was, in reality, a really great guy. He was pretty smart, funny, kind, and loyal from what Joe and Barry could tell. He was also good with medical jargon. Barry didn't trust him fully yet though, same with Joe.

And, it had nothing to do with him dating Iris. Barry had finally gotten over his crush on Iris. He was single and he was happy.

And he just wanted a family dinner without Iris' boyfriend.

Barry took a deep breath, plastered on a smile, and walked into the house.

"Hey Bar!" Joe called when he heard the door open.

"Hey!" Barry said.

Iris and her boyfriend were sitting on the couch.

"Hey Iris. Hey Jonathan."

"Hi Barry." Jonathan greeted.

Barry went into the kitchen to help Joe and Jonathan was nice enough to set the table. They all sat down, but Barry had this uneasy feeling that was lingering in his gut. And it was not the lasngna.

Dinner passed normally, until Iris abruptly set down her fork with a startling clang.

Everyone jumped and looked at her.

"Barry," Iris said, "I want to tell Jon."

Barry frowned, "No."

Jonathan raised a confused eyebrow, "Tell me what..."

Joe glanced at Barry, "Nothing."

"No!" Iris shouted, "It's not nothing. I want to tell him."

"It's not your secret to tell Iris," Barry said firmly.

Iris furrowed her brows in anger.

"Look, I don't know what it is that you want to tell me babe," Jonathan said, "But if it's not for you to tell, and Barry doesn't want you to tell me that's fine."

Barry nodded his head, "Thank you, Johnathan."

Joe nodded, "Iris, sweetheart, you know we don't just go around telling people."

"Well, too bad," Iris huffed. She turned to Jonathan and Barry's eyes widened.

"Iris don't-"

"Barry's the Flash." she said.

Jonathan's eyes widened. "Yeah, that was definitely not your secret to tell Iris." He tuerned to Barry, "I won't tell anyone, I swear. But I'm going to leave now. Iris, we're over."

Iris gaped like a fish. A very angry fish.

Jonathan smiled tightly, "Thank you for dinner, it was delicious." Then he left.

Joe looked at Iris, fuming, "What the hell was that?! You had no right to tell him that!"

"I wanted to!" Iris said, "He was going to be in my life for a long time! He deserved to know."

"He hasn't been in our lives that long. And clearly he isn't in your life anymore." Joe said.

Barry was staring at the table, yet to speak.

"Barry," Iris said.

"Shut up." Barry said.

Iris gasped, "Really? Barry-"

"No!" Barry shouted, standing up, "You don't get to say anything! I trusted you Iris. You were my best friend. And you just threw away my bigest secret like it was nothing! Even after I told you no several times. You betrayed my trust, Iris." He paused. "You are off of team Flash. I don't want to see you at STAR labs. In fact, right now, I don't want to see you at all."

Then he raced out of the house.

Joe turned to his daughter, "What you did was unacceptable. Get out of my house. Get your own apartment. And if you leak any word about Barry or the Flash, you will be in so much trouble."

Iris growled and stormed out of the house. Joe shot Barry a text that Iris was gone and he could come back if he wanted.

One week later, Iris was out of the picture, and Jonathan was the newest member of team Flash.
