It's the Easiest Thing to Do

January 10, 2006

Today, Danny, Dougie and I were heading up to Danny's house in Bolton. Danny insisted we take his car, rather than the tube so I made my way to the band house at eight in the morning as we loaded up Danny's car and left.

Danny Drove, Dougie was in the passenger's seat and I was behind Dougie. The boys were having casual conversation about the next album and planning and what not and every once and a while I would nod my head, even though I was more focused on doing a crossword puzzle.

about half way through the drive, Danny was going on about something (To be honest, I had no idea what) and I was filling in the word "amorousness" when I felt a tap on the side of my leg closest to the window. I looked down to see Dougie's arm shoved between his seat and the door with his hand held out to me, while he was agreeing with Danny on whatever they were talking about.

I smiled to myself and place my hand in his. I will admit, it was difficult to continue my crossword puzzles with one hand, but I didn't mind. It was worth it.

Danny's house wasn't extremely big, but it was bigger than Dougie's. It was two stories unlike Dougie's and had a decent sized yard with a beautiful garden in the back.

Danny took his mum's room while leading Dougie and I down a different hall to two rooms across from each other. Dougie received Danny's old room and I received his sister Vicky's.

"Unless you two want to share a room." Danny says, just before Dougie and I make our way inside our rooms.

"What makes you say that?" I snap at him, seeing Dougie with a nervous look on his face.

"Calm down Lil. It was a joke." Danny laughs. "I would never subject you to something like that." I sighed, taking a pound out of my back pocket and handing it to Danny.

"What was that?" Dougie asks us.

"Vocabulary money." I say, before exiting into Vicky's room.

From what I could tell, Vicky wasn't your typical 21 year old. Her walls were painted a dark green and were lined with lots of different posters for lots of 60's rock and roll bands. She had a full bed that was plainly covered with a dark purple duvet and dark purple curtains lined her windows, making the light that was able to stream into the room have a greyish tint.

I noticed a record player on her desk and looked through a basket of records. She had things like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and even a copy of Wonderland (Which I thought was cute).

I didn't spend too much time in Vicky's room, and neither did the boys in their rooms, because it's not like we could unpack, since there were people still living there.

Danny suggested we go out to dinner and maybe go into town a bit. I was excited because Bolton was my home and I couldn't remember much about it.

We piled into Danny's car, and I insisted on getting the front seat this time on the way, and Dougie complied.

The ride wasn't going to be long so as soon as Danny started backing out of the driveway I wedged my hand were Dougie had put his on the car journey up, and I smiled to myself as I felt a warm hand grip mine.

The night was great, and the weather wasn't too horribly painful for January.

Danny took us to his favorite restaurant after we walked around for a bit and bought us all massive glasses of beer. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was cozy, and I was certain I never wanted to leave Bolton.

I sat across from Dougie and Danny when we went to the restaurant and I smiled as I felt Dougie (or at least, I believe it to be Dougie) grip my hand from under the table.

Danny made us order these chips with seasoning on top, and I had never been such a pig in my life, but I practically ate them all. I couldn't help myself. They were so good.

When we got back to Danny's house it was eleven at night, since Danny had dragged Dougie and I to a bar that he also claimed he loved after we had left the pub. Neither Dougie or I minded though, especially as tipsy Danny paid for all the drinks. Some may call this taking advantage of your friend, but we considered it to be taking advantage of an opportunity that was handed to us.

Danny told Dougie and I that tomorrow he had to do some chores around the house that his mum had asked him to do, and then later on he would be visiting an old friend of his from school.

It was about midnight when we all decided to go to bed, Danny bidding us adieu as he turned down a separate hallway from me and Dougie.

I pulled on a pair of warm pajamas, and got under Vicky's warm covers. It may not be 'bad' for January, but it's still cold.

I turned off the lamp next to the bed and picked up my phone on my bed stand.

From Harry Judd: Hey Bolton girl! How's home? Juddy x

I laughed to myself.

To Harry Judd: As amazing as I'd hoped it be. Doubt you're asleep, but I'll talk to you tomorrow. x

Just as I was about to close my phone, I received another text. Expecting it to be Harry, I opened it.

From Dougie Poynter: Come to my room... Danny's room. Well not the room Danny's in, but the room I'm in, which is Danny's room.

To Dougie Poynter: Be right there babe. x

I flipped my phone, putting it on the bed stand and quietly made my way across the hall to Danny's old room. When I opened the door, there were no lights on, but I could see Dougie on one side of the bed from where I am. I closed the door behind me and sat on the bed next to him.

"I don't like the babe thing." He whispers, even though Danny is far enough away that he wouldn't hear.

"You don't? Why?" I whisper back.

"That'll do pig, that'll do." Dougie smiles at me.

"Only you would relate a sweet comment to a movie about a pig." I say. And he laughs.

"You know what I do like?" He asks.

"What?" I smile at him.

"Your hair like this." He smiles.

"It's a ponytail." I say and he chuckles as I lay down next to him. "Move over."

"Well...I like your hair anyway." He says. "And I like us holding hands. I could get used to that."

"Aww babe." I say, and Dougie fake gags, making me laugh.
