New Assignment

Hawks pov

After picking Y/N up from her hangout with Kiyoko and having a quick chat with Y/N's new friend, I checked my phone's notifications. The email titled, 'NEW ASSIGNMENT' seemed important so I clicked on it,

Hawks, I hope this message finds you well.
As you know, the Cutter's attacks have been occurring more frequently and they have progressively been targeting larger and larger buildings.
On careful consideration, you've been elected to track the Cutter down and take them in.
As usual, you'll have access to all the necessary documents to complete your investigation.

Regards, Stacy'

The Cutter, huh? I got into my office chair and used a couple of feathers to propel the wheeled chair to my desk, then got to work. I studied cases the Cutter had been confirmed or suspected of being involved in, occasionally munching on a few chicken nuggets.

Hawks had been assigned a case and was studying up on his new 'target.' I left him to his own devices, content to text Kiyoko all day, but was interrupted by a shout from Hawks, "Y/NNNNNN! CAN YOU GET ME SOME MORE NUGGETS?!? I RAN OUT!!"

Stifling a chuckle at the childishness of the famous Pro-Hero, I did as requested and delivered a plate of Hawks' favorite brand of chicken nuggets. Since Hawks had created a preset in his microwave for chicken nuggets specifically, all I'd had to do was empty a whole bag onto a plate and push a button. He took them gratefully and I glanced at the screen, skimming over an official-looking document titled, 'The Cutter Strikes Again In Western Musutafu.'

Intrigued, I read on, wondering if my parents were already dead at the time of the incident described. I'd purposely asked not to be told how my parents died or who killed them, preferring not to linger over such things, but before I could reach the victim's names, Hawks nudged me, "Your phone just went off again."

Suddenly all thoughts of the article were erased from my mind, replaced by the thought of Kiyoko. Hawks sighed in relief, glad he'd been able to keep me from reading the victim's names: M/N L/N and F/N L/N.

Blissfully unaware of the bullet I'd just dodged, I happily resumed texting Kiyoko. We organized a sleepover at her house and Hawks seemed happy enough, so it was set.

~~Timeskip~~

On the day of, Hawks insisted he fly me over, so I packed my bags and he carried me the whole way. I thought I saw my old house on the way, but couldn't be sure. As we flew, I noticed him deploying feathers all over Western Musutafu. We landed in front of Kiyoko's house and she ran out to greet us. When she saw me in Hawks' arms, her jaw dropped, "H-Hawks?!?"

My father looked vaguely insulted, "You didn't tell her about me?"

I rolled my eyes as he set me on my feet, "If everyone knew the number 3 hero was my dad, they'd run away screaming."

He glanced around, then deployed a feather which proceeded to tickle my chin, "Be careful."

I tilted my head in confusion as the feather stuck itself in my pocket, but Hawks continued before I could ask why, "If you're in trouble, just speak into the feather and I'll get over here as fast as I can."

A woman which must've been Asiko emerged from the house, her long black hair reaching her waist and swishing as she walked. She put a hand on Kiyoko's shoulder, "Is this the fabled Y/N I've heard so much about?"

She spoke gently, but there was an edge to her voice which I couldn't identify. Kiyoko nodded, "And Hawks is her dad!"

Asiko's face twitched and she was seemingly forcing herself to be kind when she next spoke, "Alright then, where would you like to go for dinner tonight, Y/N?"

Just as I was about to answer, Hawks tilted his head as he always did when hearing one of his feathers, then called, "Goodbye, have a good time!"

He shot off and I rolled my eyes, "He's been sending our feathers all morning! Must be that case he's been assigned. Anyways, what about F/R?"

A smile stretched across Kiyoko's face, "I've never been, what's it like?"

I proceeded to tell her all about F/R as we set up a futon I'm her room and we googled it afterward. She quickly found a food she liked on the menu and that was that. She then reached under her futon's covers and pulled out a F/T, "Did you bring your favorite toy too?"

I grinned, remembering her strange instructions to bring my favorite toy and my favorite shirt. I pulled my F/T put of my bag and she quietly squealed in delight, "They're the same! I didn't know you had a F/T too!"

I then unzipped the jacket I was wearing, revealing my favorite F/C shirt. With her eyes wide, Kiyoko gasped and unzipped her jacket as well. Her favorite shirt was also F/C! We celebrated like mad, then began theorizing that we may in fact be long lost siblings. We were in the middle of discussing how our quirks would work if we were related when we heard a soft knock on the door, "If we don't go to F/R now, it'll be too late."

Asiko seemed much more composed now and we had soon arrived at F/R. With nostalgia, I realized the F/R we were at was the one Hawks took me to for lunch on the first day I knew him. I led my friend and her mother to the booth Hawks and I had sat in, and with relief, I saw that it was empty and we slid in. I sat next to Kiyoko and her mum sat opposite us.

I ordered F/F as usual and Kiyoko ordered her food, with Asiko not eating anything. Kiyoko's food looked horrible, and after a quick taste, was deemed inedible. The way Asiko was looking at me with a predatory gaze instantly made me lose my appetite and I pushed my F/F towards Kiyoko, "Here, you have it..."
