Resolution

***This is the chapter you've all been waiting for!!!***

Reader pov

After Shoto and Fuyumi left, I shuffled up to Hawks and quietly asked, "Hey, Hawks, how much do you weigh?"

Hawks almost fell over. He had such an offended, incredulous look on his face that I couldn't help but start laughing. Realization dawned on him, "About 80kgs."

I pouted, "Shame."

Still, I shot a few threads at him and yanked, but as expected, they did nothing. He chuckled, then plucked a few like guitar strings, "Don't worry, we'll work on that. How about we see how much you can lift?"

As Hawks gathered up various household objects with his feathers, I suddenly remembered the day I discovered my quirk.

"Mum, can I have a cookie?"

My mum sighed, "You've already had a cookie."

I pouted, "But- but, I'm your favorite kid!"

She laughed while putting the cookie jar on top of the fridge, well out of my reach, "You're also my only kid."

She turned and began preparing dinner on the kitchen counter, but I was staring at the cookie jar with an intense look of concentration on my face. One of my hands stretched out towards it, almost as if I believed I could reach it, and suddenly a thread shot from my finger. One end was attached to my pointer finger and the other was attached to the cookie jar's lid. The thread was also attached to the ceiling, almost like an invisible pulley was on the ceiling by the jar. I pulled the thread down and it began shortening into my finger. The cookie jar slowly began moving, then fell off the fridge.

Just as I tried to lengthen the thread to lower it down, the lid popped off and the rest of the glass jar dropped like a stone. It shattered on the tile floor and my mum whirled around, but her eyes immediately focused on the thread and not the broken jar. The lid dangled from the other end of the string and I innocently hid my hands behind my back, then released the thread. The lid landed in the glass pile as a smile stretched across my mum's face, "Y/N-chan! It's your quirk!"

"Y/N! Y/N! Can you hear me?!" Hawks was snapping his fingers in front of my face and I slowly blinked, then shook my head, trying to get the image of my mother's kitchen out of my mind. He knelt in front of me and rested his hands on my shoulders, "Are you okay?"

I nodded slowly, "I saw mum, but she's not actually here, is she?"

The man I'd come to accept as my father gave me a sympathetic smile as he shook his head, "She's gone."

I took a deep, calming breath, then glanced at the items he'd assembled with determination blazing in my E/C eyes, "I know, and I also know she would've wanted me to be the greatest hero I can be, so let's get started."

~~Mini Timeskip~~

After finding out that my carry-limit was about 20 kgs, we both went to bed.

~~Timeskip~~ (Sorry, I didn't really know what else to put there ^^)

On Monday morning, Hawks and I went to school together. He smiled cheerfully at my schoolmates as we walked past and at least 10 of them asked for a picture with him. I was about as embarrassed as I'd ever been in my life.

Noticing my embarrassment, Hawks, being the great and compassionate person he is, slung his arm around my shoulder and gave me a squeeze. Never before had I gotten so much attention and I truly wanted to disappear. He laughed, "Don't worry, Y/N, they won't say anything while I'm around."

I elbowed him in the ribs, then, while he was half doubled over, I hissed in his ear, "That's not the problem!"

He rolled his eyes, then wrapped one of his wings around me, completely obscuring me from my schoolmate's view, "Is that better, my princess?"

I drew my arm back to elbow him once more and he quickly distanced himself from me, "Forgive me, your highness!"

I laughed, "Very much so, my liege."

We walked to the office in that fashion, Hawks keeping out of elbow-range and me hidden behind a crimson curtain of feathers. He used a feather to open the door, and once we were inside, he tucked his wing in again. Brittany, Karen, and a man whose name I didn't know were already waiting for us in the meeting room, where my homeroom teacher also sat.

My teacher, Asuka, glanced at Hawks and I through her glasses as we sat down, then cleared her throat and began, "Since the beginning of the school year, there have been multiple instances where Brittany Peters has bullied Y/N L/N. Within the last month especially, Y/N's grades have plummeted because she hasn't spoken or written anything, which we now know is because Brittany kept changing the languages she could speak and write. Do the Peters have anything to say?"

Karen nodded, "Yes we do."

She glanced at the man and he stood up, "From what I've been told, everything that L/N girl has been saying about my daughter is a lie to get attention. My daughter would never bully anyone, and even if she did, I'm sure she'd have a good reason to!"

Karen slammed her hands onto the table, "It's clearly because she's adopted! She wants attention because her parents are dead, so she pretends my daughter's bullying her!"

Asuka gave them looks of irritation, "There are also multiple records of Brittany, completely unprovoked, physically harming Y/N."

Karen sniffed, "Clearly my precious thought she was in danger and acted in self defence! Isn't that right, Edward?"

The man, who I assumed to be Edward, glared at me, his blue eyes boring into mine, "Exactly so, darling. Now what is your side of the story?"

He directed the last part at me and Hawks gave me a reassuring nod. I took a deep breath, then began, "Has Brittany told you about a boy called Katsuki Bakugo?"

Karen and Edward nodded, the latter adding, "That's the boy she has a crush on."

I gave them a wry smile, "Bakugo doesn't like Midoriya. I tried to befriend Midoriya. Brittany thought Bakugo would like her if she harrassed me and Midoriya. When Bakugo didn't respond, she continued pulling stunts. And then someone who I won't name but is sitting between Edward and Brittany fixed the language I spoke, found out that I was adopted, and told Brittany. Brittany then loudly announced it to the school during lunch after tripping me up. There are security cameras in every room and I'm sure they record audio too. With that in mind, my dad asked them to look through some footage and pull up some clips."

I glanced at Asuka, who turned her laptop around and pressed play. A short montage of Brittany pulling my hair, tripping me,  and purposefully bumping into me played. Every so often, a small flash of UV light signaled that she used her quirk on me. Her parents went deathly silent.

After the video ended, Asuka nodded at Hawks, who began talking, "My child would never just sit still and allow herself to quietly be bullied, and even if she felt that she had to stay silent about it, I would've found out about it anyway. Now, hypothetically, if my child were to hypothetically be bullied, and the hypothetical bully's hypothetical parents were to, hypothetically of course, sit in a hypothetical meeting room and hypothetically tell me that she deserved it, I would, hypothetically, do everything in my power to ensure that the hypothetical parents understood their hypothetical daughter's hypothetical harassment of my child."

Then, with a shit-eating grin and a dry tone, Hawks leaned back in his seat and added, "I do hope you appreciate how many times I added in the word 'hypothetical.' It was quite hard."

Needless to say, Brittany received a harsh scolding from both parents. Just before leaving, they all bowed down in front of me and apologized. Edward stayed behind to quickly add, "I'm so sorry my daughter was harassing you all this time. Most likely, we'll have her move schools. She's developed quite a negative reputation in this school, and rightly so, but we don't want it to affect her grades. Goodbye, L/N, I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day."

And with that, the troublesome Peters family was gone. Asuka then smiled gently at me, "Y/N, there's something we organized for you outside too."

As Hawks and I walked outside, I saw the faces of everyone who'd witnessed Brittany's announcement the week prior. Bakugo and Midoriya stood at the fore, and on a hidden command, they all bowed, "We're sorry, L/N! We were disgusted at her, not you! Please forgive us!"

I wiped the tears running down my cheeks away, then, through choked sobs, "D-don't worry, you're all forgiven!"

***Sorry this chapter's coming out a little bit late, but I really wanted to completely resolve all the bullying in this chapter, which is also why it's so long! Good day to you all, and see you in the next chapter!***
