Trapped

As we ran, I began feeling more apprehensive, "Uhm, Yoko-chan, why don't we just call the owner?"

She shook her head firmly, "I don't know his number, but I do know where his wife lives! I used to deliver newspapers to their house!"

Well, that sounded reasonable enough, but suspicion was steadily eating away at my trust in her. Finally, we stopped in front of a brightly colored house. I sighed in relief, this place wasn't creepy at all! She knocked on the door, "Okisa! Are you home?!"

She then gave me a sad smile, "Sorry, Y/N. Looks like we won't be getting your phone back after all."

The door opened, and instead of a kind old lady, Asiko stood there. Within a second, she'd twisted me around and blades pressed to my throat. She addressed Kiyoko over my shoulder, "Well done! Now go, Kiyoko, I'll catch up with you once the 'negotiations' are over."

Kiyoko, my best and only friend, gave me a sympathetic smile, then ran off. I realized with dread that Kiyoko had tried to warn me too: Okisa was Asiko backward. Asiko dragged me deeper into the house, locking the door after us, then grabbed me by the throat and slammed me into a wall.

She pushed me up so my toes couldn't touch the ground anymore and I was clawing uselessly at her rock-solid grip. I suddenly remembered the feather Hawks insisted I always keep in my bag, and even though Asiko was crushing my windpipe, I started shouting hoarsely, "Hawks! Help me! I-I'm in a brightly colored-"

I was cut off by a strong punch to my gut. I coughed wildly and I thought I even saw blood at some point, but I couldn't give up, "We're on Aryeh stree-"

This time, I was silenced by my head being slammed into the wall. Then she leaned in really close, whispering into my ear, "Thank you, Y/N-Chan. You're leading Hawks right into my trap."

I realized her plan and began fighting again, kicking at her head and arms to get her to release me while bellowing, "Hawks! Don't come here! It's a trap! She'll kill you!!"

Shock and horror settled in as I realized everything was going to plan for Asiko. The more helpless I sounded, the more likely Hawks would come to my rescue. I went limp, accepting that I'd just gotten my father killed, and sucked in what I hoped to be my last breath.

And then I heard a loud crash.

Hawks pov

~~3 Minutes Earlier~~

I listened to Kiyoko and Y/N's conversation as they left school, wondering what it would take for Y/N to learn. I loosely tailed them, making sure to stay out of sight. I tried to stay pretty high up, tracking Y/N remotely through my feather, then I decided to send her a text, 'Y/N, are you on the way home yet'

I listened as Kiyoko suggested a way to dodge trouble when Y/N came home late, then heard a clatter. Apparently Kiyoko had done something on accident which caused Y/N's phone to fall out of reach. Then Kiyoko suggested a way to get the phone back, which stopped me from swooping down to check up on Y/N. Since it seemed like she'd be back on track soon enough, I decided to investigate a mugging I'd just seen out of the corner of my eye.

Two minutes or so had passed and I'd just handed an old lady her stolen purse when I heard screaming from the feather in Y/N's bag, "Hawks! Help me! I-I'm in a brightly colored-"

It was cut off by the sound of a muffled impact, most likely a punch, and followed up by Y/N's hacking cough. But she kept going, "We're on Aryeh stree-"

This time, it sounded like she'd been slammed into something. I simply tracked my feather, flying as fast as I could towards Y/N. Finally, a voice I recognized as Asiko, the Cutter's, hissed, "Thank you, Y/N-Chan. You're leading Hawks right into my trap."

Trap, eh? We'll see about that. I listened intently, then fear for Y/N's safety settled in as I heard her stop struggling. I then winced as it quickly shifted from silence to a hoarse scream, "Hawks! Don't come here! It's a trap! She'll kill you!!"

Sorry, but I can't let you die, Y/N. I kicked the door down with a crash, seeing Y/N being held up to the wall by her throat and Asiko pressing a blade to Y/N's throat. Asiko grinned, then flicked her wrist and let a knife fly at me. I batted it away easily with one feather and Asiko tutted, "Now now Hawks, you shouldn't do that! After all, everytime you don't get cut, Y/N does."

Y/N gave me a tiny nod as Asiko threw the next knife and I repelled that one as well. Asiko sighed, "I guess I'll have to demonstrate."

The hand around Y/N's throat released, then a knife formed in said hand and was plunged into Y/N's forearm. Y/N screamed and I cursed under my breath. I couldn't attack Asiko, but I couldn't flee either, as both would get Y/N hurt even more. I simply stood there as Asiko's next blade embedded itself in my leg. Y/N began thrashing wildly, then a light came into her eyes.

Reader pov

I couldn't stand the sight of blood dribbling down Hawks' leg, especially since I'd caused it. I lashed out, my foot connecting with Asiko's nose as I caught her off guard. Even as blood coursed down my left arm, an idea came to me. My eyes darted around the room as I planned my next move, my mind honed by Hawks' training. I quickly compiled a series of actions I'd take, then executed the first one. My threads connected to one of the doors in the hallway we were in, then abruptly pulled it open. It opened outwards, blocking Asiko's view of Hawks. I then shouted, "Hawks! Run!"

Asiko's satisfied expression contorted to one of rage as katanas formed in her hands. She reared back to deliver a sweeping downwards arc which would cut me in half as Hawks slammed the door in front of him shut. I did the only thing I could and created a web of threads between Asiko and me, then began praying as the blades which could cut through anything descended.
