gwen collapsed next to mark in an on call room after a good morning session.

"wow. that... you really know what you're doing." gwen breaths heavily.

"are you grading me?" mark asks brushing her hair.

"maybe i am a little." gwen props up on her elbow to have a better look at him. "you're gettin' an a."

"i don't know. i'm kind of an overachiever. i'd like to go for the a-plus." mark smirks leaning in to kiss her again.

"how about a second round?" gwen asks.

"i counted so far 4 orgasms of you. so it would be our fifth round." mark smirks as they started to make out again.

after getting out of the on call room gwen immediatly was greeted with callie who walks down the hall.

"hey." they greeted each other.

"how's your research with derek going?" gwen asks.

"oh, the diagnostic look good. i just slipped out for a sec." callie explains.

"do you think you're gonna make it to the shower?" gwen asks.

kepner's and matthew's wedding was in a few days.

today was her shower party.

"oh, crap. kepner's shower is today?" callie asks seemingly forgotten it.

"yeah, it's today." gwen nods. "and she's our friend, so..."

"i know she's our friend." callie cuts her off. "you don't have to tell me she's our friend."

"sorry. i just-"

"i'll be there if i can." callie assures her.

"great." gwen smiles.

"dr.shepherd, dr.torres." leah greets them standing with jo and stephanie at a nurses station.

"dr.murphy." they greet back contuing to walk.

"that was good. professional. i bought it." gwen whispers to callie.

today was cristina's big surgery. she puts the printed conduit into nathan. it was a big thing so the hospital wants to live stream it so others could learn about it but nathan's parents had their concerns.

"the cameras are only recording the doctors and the surgical field. your son's identity will be completely protected." owen assures the parents.

"good morning." cristina greets them entering the room with gwen.

"we're just hearing about the cameras." ashley, nathan's mom, says, her voice breaks.

"sorry?" cristina asks and gwen was also confused.

"we just told the glaziers we have a lot of people who'd like to observe, so we've set up a live stream." ross explains.

"okay, but i think we would feel better if we knew the focus was on our baby, not putting on a show." don, nathan's dad, says.

"the cameras are there so that, in success, other doctors can learn this technique to help other kids like nathan." owen tries to convince them while cristina and gwen gave each other a look.

"no, no, that doesn't work for me. he's a baby." ashley declines sobbing.

"ashley, ashley look at me." cristina steps forward. "i will be performing the operation, and my only focus will be your son. that is all i care about, okay? that's it."

the parents nod before the doctors left the room.

"you spring this on me the day of surgery?" cristina asks owen as the group came to a halt.

"what?" owen asks confused.

"this circus?" cristina raises a brow.

"ross said that this came from you." owen explains her.

"everyone in this hospital's been asking to watch the procedure. i got e-mails from ucla and baylor. they wanted a stream. and i felt none of that should be on your plate, so i made some executive decisions." ross explains. "i'm happy to have you veto any of them."

"yeah, like all of 'em." gwen spokes up.

"if that's what dr.yang wants, consider it done." shane says all of them looking at cristina.

"ross, hang on." owen cuts him short. "this is a teaching hospital. we need to create conditions where more people can learn from what you're doing."

"live streaming? what if something goes wrong?" cristina asks.

"even if something goes wrong, you're doing important work, and people should see that." owen replies as his pager chimes in. "i need to take this. cristina?"

"fine." cristina gave in.

"are you excited?" mark asks his wife approaching her.

"i am more nervous, actually." gwen confesses. "this is a big thing not only for the hospital but for cristina as well."

"you will rock it, i know." mark assures kissing her temple.

"i hope the surgery is long enough for me to have an excuse to not go to april's shower." gwen sighs.

"you don't want to go?" he asks confused.

"i prefer not to." gwen says. "just imagine four kepner's in one room." gwen then walks away leaving him smiling to himself.

god, he just loves that woman.

cristina and gwen stood over nathan doing the surgery.

"dr.yang, surgeons at baylor have joined us." gwen informs her what a nurse just whispered into her ear.

"okay, at this point, i have dissected the scar tissue and put the patient on bypass." cristina announces looking into the camera that was hold up. "timing is everything. we just received word that the conduit has gone through its final round of tests and is on its way to the o.r. while we wait, dr.shepherd can give a brief patient history."

"nine-month-old born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. he's rejected the synthetic conduit that was previously placed. this conduit was granted by the fda with compassionate use." gwen tells them as ross came in with the conduit.

"this is dr.ross." cristina introduced him. "and this is the conduit we printed on the 3d printer. okay, let's commence with the implantation process."

"blood pressure is falling." gwen announces.

"you know, the conduit is a little smaller than anticipated." cristina discovers as she tries to put it in. "i'm gonna do a triangular cut with a patch."

"cvp is low, he doesn't have enough volume." gwen states.

"okay, uh, give another, uh, bolus of lr." cristina instructs.

"you're gonna fluid overload him." gwen informs her.

"what's that piece sticking up on the conduit? is there a gap in the anastomosis? dr.yang?" shane keeps asking. "he's in v-fib."

"damn it." cristina curses. "starting cpr."

"internal paddles." gwen orders. "charge to 10."

"turn the camera off." cristina instructs shane in a low voice.

"clear." gwen shocks the heart.

"ross, get the camera off." cristina repeats.

"stop filming."

after the surgery gwen, cristina and shane talked to ashley and don about the surgery.

"we've sat outside all night long waiting to hold him, and now you're telling us that we have to wait longer?" ashley asks outraged.

"nathan's numbers still aren't stable enough for-"

"we should've never let you talk us into this." don cuts shane off. "we should've gone with the synthetic graft. we should've listen to you."

"it's still early. the conduit could still be a success." gwen assures them.

"do you believe that?" don asks her. "look me in the eye and tell me you believe that."

"let's focus on what we know." cristina changes the topic. "right now, he's on the oscillator to force oxygen into his lungs, and if he can maintain his sats, we hope to be able to get him on a normal ventilator. one step at a time. okay?"

then the doctors left them in privacy.

"thanks for the strong show of support." cristina scolds gwen.

"sorry, i've got... a lot on my mind." gwen apologises.

"gwen-"

"yeah, it's just been a crap couple of days." gwen adds.

"gwen." this time she gets her attention. "do you really think the conduit's gonna be a success?"

"i don't know." gwen sighs.

"please, just be my attending for once. be dr.shepherd and not gwen." cristina begs.

"if i would've asked you this what would you answer?" gwen asks smiling supporrantly squeezing ger shoulder before leaving.

gwen stood at the nurses station when callie and mark walked up to her.

"i thought you went to kepner's shower?" callie asks.

"i didn't make it in time." gwen replies.

"after you practically forced me to go there?" callie asks.

"did you went?" mark spokes up giving his tablet to a nurse.

"no. my patient was able to move her hand for the first time because of our sensors." callie smiles proudly. "i have to go."

gwen said goodbye before turning to her husband.

"are you done for today?" he asks her.

"yes, we can go home." gwen smiles.

he puts his arm around her waist guiding her down the hall.
