"i hate that i have to go to this stupid game instead of working." gwen complains to mark as they lay in bed in the morning.

"it's not a stupid game." mark says getting up from the bed.

weeks have passed and gwen was highly pregnant. her water could broke any minute.

"but i'll be bored out of my mind. i prefer to just work." gwen tells him honestly.

"but you get the chance to support your husband on the field." mark says.

"that's not better. besides don't think i believe that you are excited for this game." gwen snaps.

"yeah, but you have to see the bigger picture. which is?" he asks as he walked closer to her.

"we're getting a baby. bla bla bla." gwen sighs annoyed.

"right." mark kissed her before he left the room.

"sometimes i want to kick your daddy in his ass." gwen tells her belly.

"i heard that." mark calls from the floor.

gwen just chuckled while standing up.

gwen sat on a bank with a bottle of water in her hand and callie sitting next to her watching the game.

mark throw a ball to arizona who couldn't catch it.

"okay, okay, okay, okay." arizona says as fell to her knees trying to get the ball.

"come on. robbins don't be afraid of it." owen says from where he stood watching the staff.

"wait. it flew at my head." arizona defends herself finally getting up with the ball in her hands.

gwen tried to step up to walk over mark. he saw it and immediatly helped getting up.

"not bad. not bad." gwen smirked at him.

"you like that?" mark asks.

"i said not bad. don't go crazy." gwen dismisses him.

he leaned down to kiss her long.

"sloan!" derek called him but mark continued kissing his wife.

the others continued while the couple continued to kiss.

"we should stop." gwen says between the kisses. "everyone is watching us."

"i don't care." mark dismisses her.

suddenly derek had to go because of a consult. after him everyone followed not quite interested in playing baseball.

"looks like i can still get to work." gwen smiles.

back in the hospital gwen walked down the hall with cristina.

"you said great. is it a transplant? is it a heterotopic transplant?" cristina asks getting excited.

"no." gwen simply replies.

"but you said great. is it big?"

"it'll probably take you all morning." gwen informs her as she opened a door to see a patient on the gurney. "mr.felker, this is dr.yang. and she will be performing your angioplasty."

"nice to meet you." the patient smiles at cristina.

cristina forces a smile before turning around so she could speak to gwen more privat.

"any first year can do this." she complains to her attending. "i thought i was gonna be working on a heart."

"you're gonna be working on preventing mr.felker from having a heart attack." gwen says in a low voice.

"i mean, i thought i was gonna be working on a heart in the o.r." cristina explains.

"hey." mr.felker got their attention. "is someone gonna roto-rooter my veins out?"

gwen smiled at cristina giving her the patient's chart before walking out of the room.

when the door closed gwen suddenly felt a contraction.

"not today. do not come today." gwen whispers to her belly.

gwen got paged by meredith a little while later for a consult on a pregnant woman.

"it could be postpartum cardiomyopathy. i'll transfer her to telemetry." gwen informs meredith outside the patients room.

"okay." meredith nods. "hey, dr.shepherd. why is cristina doing an angioplasty?"

"excuse me?" gwen raises a brow.

"i was just wondering, and i know she was, too. is this all going somewhere? i mean, i know it's none of my business, but-"

"you're right." gwen cuts her harshly of before soften her tone. "as a first year, you do an angio to learn a technical skill, but an angio as a fifth year is about learning respect. respect for the heart disease that cristina will see for the rest of her career. it all starts there, in the artery. you have to go back to the beginning to understand the end."

then gwen walked away.

"all right. what do we have?" gwen asks stepping into callie's o.r because she got paged.

"a thoracic aortic dissection." cristina explains. "kepner excised the defect and he's going to need a graft."

"all right. let me get scrubbed. you'll first assist." gwen says to cristina. "callie, can you clear out?"

"can you work around me?" callie asks from where she sits at the patients hand. "i mean, i'll move if i have to, but..."

"callie, i'm trying to save his life." gwen says.

"i know, but trust me, i'm saving his life, too." callie insisted. "can you work around me?"

"fine." gwen nods as she walks to the scrub room but she stopped and turned around. "yang, why didn't you just start the graft?"

"i didn't need to. kepner had it." cristina informs her.

gwen nodded proudly at her resident.

after finishing the surgery gwen watched cristina closing the patient.

"why didn't you just start the graft yourself? why'd you wait?" gwen questioned her resident.

"is this a trick question?" cristina asks confused looking up at her.

"no. i'm asking." gwen says.

"come on." cristina sighs. "now i'm in trouble for waiting for you? you would've ripped me a new one if i didn't it myself."

"two months ago you would've bodychecked kepner in order to get into this guy's chest, and now you let her just do the surgery?" gwen asks.

"yes, i could've done it myself, but she had it." cristina defends herself.

"exactly." gwen nodded.

gwen waited for mark in the attendings lounge so that they could drive to the game.

"you ready?" mark asks as he walked in taking off his coat.

"yes." she nods smiling bridely.

"why are you so happy?" mark chuckles.

"i had a surgery today and did consults and i feel great because of it." gwen smiles hiding the fact that she had contractions the whole day. "i told you the baby isn't coming until-"

mark turned around when gwen suddenly stopped talking.

she looked down and felt warm liquid on her pants.

"gwen?"

"my water just broke." gwen announces.

"for real?" mark asks with wide eyes.

"no, i just invented that because it's fun." gwen snapped.

"okay." mark nods walking over to his wife. "just sit down. i'll page o.b and robbins."

gwen sat on couch mark in front of her holding her hands.

"let's having a baby." gwen smiles.

"ahhhhh!" gwen screamed as she pushed. "oh, my god. this hurts! son of a bitch!"

"shh baby. you do good. you're doing fine. just keep pushing." mark encouraged his woman as she pressed his hands.

"just one more push, gwen. then you will hold your baby." the o.b tells her.

"ahhhh!" gwen yells. "i can't. i can't."

"you can. come on, baby. i know your strong." mark whispers in her ear.

"okay. one more push, gwen."

then gwen pushed like her life matters from it. she pushed until they both heard a scream.

"you did it." the o.b smiled. "it's a beautiful girl."

mark kissed gwen on her forehead before walking over to arizona who looked over their baby.

"is she okay? mark?" gwen asks still breathing heavily.

"she's great and so pretty." mark sobs rubbing his daughters cheeks.

"can i hold her?" gwen asks to which arizona nodded.

"of course. she is doing great. i will do an exam later." arizona says.

mark walks over with their baby in a pink blanket.

"here this is our daughter." mark hands his wife the baby.

"oh, my god. she's is so beautiful." gwen cries. "we waited for so long. oh, my god."

"she's got your eyes and the sloan nose." mark couldn't prevent tears either.

"she's perfect." gwen states.

"how do you want to name her?" arizona asks taking of her gloves.

"we want to wait till everybody is here." gwen smiles.

gwen looked down at her daughter who grabs her mother's finger.

"we have a baby. oh, my god. she's... mark. look at her." gwen cries.

mark brushed their little girls head.

after gwen got cleared up and dressed derek and callie stepped into the room. both having a big smile on their faces.

"oh, my god." callie immediatly beams walking over to her best friend. "hi. hi beautiful. she's perfect. can i hold her?"

"of course. here go to auntie callie." gwen spokes in a baby voice handing callie the baby.

"how are you?" derek asks concerned.

"i'm fine. tired and exhausted but it was worth it." gwen replies.

"i'm happy for you two." derek smiles hugging mark.

"thanks man." mark chuckles.

"so how do you want to name her?" arizona repeats her question. "now that everybody is here, spit it out."

"her name is hailey calliope shepherd-sloan." gwen tells them.

"you named her after me?" callie asks tears brimming in her eyes. "now i feel bad that i didn't did the same."

"it's okay. really. i'm just happy that she's okay." gwen smiles.

"now, come to uncle derek." he took hailey into his arms. "i love to welcome you to family shepherd, hailey."
