one hundred thirty

today this gala took place.

gwen wasn't really into it. she never liked galas. not even when she won the harper avery award.

she and mark stood in the bedroom putting on their clothes.

mark wore a black suit and gwen wore a tight black dress.

gwen put on some more lipgloss.

"can you close my dress?" she asks mark.

mark walked up behind her closing her zipper.

"you look stunning, baby." mark smiles kissing her neck. "but i prefer it on the floor."

"you couldn't hold that back, could you?" gwen chuckles.

"you know me." mark nods. "i'll get piper."

he left the room while gwen stood in front of the mirror.

she had her hair straight, light make up.

she put on her black heels before she walked down the stairs to see hailey playing in her little play area.

"are you ready to go?" gwen asks her daughter.

"uh, almost." mark answers who carries piper in carrycot. "someone doesn't want to put her shoes on."

gwen walked through the big crowd searching for someone she knows.

she watched some of the circus artists doing tricks.

cristina and callie waved her over when they saw her.

"gwendolyn shepherd, as i live and breathe." cristina greets. "i haven't seen you in ages. how's, uh, mark liking maternity leave?"

"he's on paternity leave." gwen corrects her. "we have a deal. i don't work. neither does he. it's working out well."

"i live in your house. you're bored out of your minds." callie states. "yeah, they've got all this pent-up surgical energy and now everything's a competition."

"it is not." gwen tells her friend.

"and he's winning." callie adds.

"he is not winning." gwen tries to convince them. "he couldn't even get hailey to put her shoes on tonight. i did that. i got her to put her shoes on. so i'm winning." both women looked at her with a raised brow. "i need to come back to work."

"drink?" one of the waiters asks.

but gwen back away when she saw his scary face.

when he was gone the three started to laugh.

"that's the creepiest waiter i've ever seen." cristina laughs.

"bailey's gonna lose her mind." callie comments. "she can't stand clowns. this is gonna be hilarious."

"bailey's not coming." cristina informs them.

"what? wait we can do that?" callie asks. "okay, i have been dreading having to be in the same room with arizona. if this isn't mandatory, i'm going home."

"wait, nobody's going home." jackson orders them as he walked by. "i'm giving 10% of tonight's take to the department that raises the most money. spread the word."

"wow." cristina gasps.

"mark is really good at this kind of thing." gwen confesses. "i should get started before he does."

"oh, i think he already has." callie points behind gwen.

mark stood there flirting with a rich looking woman. gwen got pretty jealous even tho she knew it was for the money.

but anyways she walked over to him.

"can you excuse me for a second?" mark asks the woman.

then he turned around to his wife.

"she looks rich." gwen states looking at the prada wearing woman.

"you know i flirt because of the money, right?" mark asks.

"i know you do." gwen smiles. "and i have a deal. you see that woman behind me?"

mark looked behind her to see an attractive woman staring at gwen.

"she stared at me since the moment i stepped in here." gwen informs him.

"and what's the deal?" mark asks confused.

"the one who will get more money from his chick can do whatever they want to the other one." gwen smirks.

"deal." mark nods shaking her hand. "i will win shepherd."

"we will see."

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

"oh, you're under a lot of pressure at work." gwen tells the woman as they stood a little further away from the bar while gwen checked the pulse on her wrist. "lots of late nights and weekends. but still, you stay active. lots of, uh, physical activity?"

"you can tell all that from my pulse?" the woman asks.

"sure, and the way your dress fits." gwen smirks when she glanzed at the watch. "oh, my, this watch is gorgeous."

"it's vintage. it was my father's, actually." she replies. "he, uh, would wager watches. and so he won this one."

"you know, you need another one." gwen points to the drink. "i'll be right back."

the woman watched her with a smirk as she walked over to mark and this lady.

"can you excuse us for a second?" gwen asks the lady who only nodded at her.

the lady walked away leaving the two alone.

"whiskey soda." gwen tells the bar dude.

"you are barking up the wrong tree with that one." mark tells her pointing at the younger woman gwen flirted with. "you're never gonna get a donation out of her."

"why is that so?" gwen asks.

"she looks at you like you're something special. she looks at you the way i look at you." mark tells her honest.

"you don't need to worry. it's nothing serious." gwen chuckles grabbing the drink walking back.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

a little while later gwen walked up to alex at the bar.

she wanted to get her 'date' another drink.

"whiskey soda." gwen tells the bartender.

"that's your fifth one." he points out.

"who are you, my mom?" gwen asks as he poured the drink.

then she turned to alex who sat there quiet sipping on his drink.

"i'm not drinking." gwen tells him even if she knows he doesn't care really. "gotta stay sharp. this is for the cfo of aec interactive."

gwen turned around looking with alex at the pretty brunette who was smirking at gwen.

"got her on the ropes." gwen continues. "every drink she knocks back is another zero added to the cheque i collect at the end of the night."

"that sounds wrong. you're married." alex reminds her.

"right and wrong don't live here, son. this is the wild west." gwen says. "besides mark and i have a deal. this is so much fun. it's like when i was an intern, stealing surgeries, playing dirty. i don't really get to do that any more."

"does this look stupid?" meredith suddenly asks from behind gwen making them look confused at the sweather she wore. "the kid spit up on my dress, and in my dress. all over, really."

"oh, that's why i got a babysitter for my girls." gwen says making her role her eyes.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

the gala took a tragic turn when one of the acrobats fell down on the floor while jackson did a speech.

"what's the update on the paramedics, avery?" owen asks jackson as the other doctors helped the injured people.

"should be here any minute." jackson replies.

"do you think she's watching?" gwen asks alex and meredith who helped with the injured woman.

"who?" meredith asks.

"miss richie rich. 'cause we look freaking amazing right now." gwen smiles devilish.

"gwen, gross." meredith says.

then gwen cell phone starts to ring she looked at it to see it's edwards from the e.r.

"edwards, someone better be dying." gwen snaps.

"i'm really hoping to avoid that, dr.shepherd. ross is doing a pericardial window in the e.r." stephanie informs her.

"okay, when he aspirates the fluid, get him to the o.r. i'm on my way." gwen tells the intern.

"go. we got this." meredith assures her.

gwen stood up ready to leave when she almost walked into alex.

"where are you going?" he asks her.

"oh, back to the hospital." gwen answers walking backwards so she could face him. "some junkie with endocarditis is tamponading."

"which junkie?"

"there's more than one?" she asks as she spots cristina. "yang! come on, let's go."

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

gwen stood in the o.r. together with cristina and ross the junkie opened in front of them.

"let's take him off bypass and see how we did." gwen says listening to the steady beeping monitor.

"everything okay, dr.shepherd?" ross asks her.

"pericardial window is a pretty risky move for an intern." gwen says making him stutter.

"i didn't have a choice." he defends himself. "the fluid was too thick for a pericardiocentesis."

"you had a choice." cristina cuts him off. "you could've called someone the minute he temponated, like me or dr.shepherd, but you didn't. you basically got to do a surgery in the e.r. and now you're up here with me, while edwards is down in the pit. you're a shark."

"i'm not! i swear." he says.

"ross, it's a good thing." gwen smiles. "all great surgeons a sharks. you see what you want and do whatever it takes to get it. like me. and never apologise. sharks don't apologise."

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

mark walked around the hall with much less people in it.

"have you seen my wife?" he asks jackson.

"uh, she, uh, hopped on a rig with yang and the paramedics." jackson replies.

"damn it." mark cursed.

"hey mark! sloan!" jackson called him but he still walked away.

only to be facing with the woman, jasmine, he has been flirting all night with for money.

"hey you." she greets him drunk.

"hey, i'm sorry but i have to leave. the hospital.." mark trails off.

"oh, what a shame i thought we could spend some time together." she smirk walking closer.

"i'm sorry, m'am, really, i have to-"

"m'am? that's what you call me?" she asks slightly hurt.

"m'am, i can't. i have a wonderful wife and i want to go to her." mark insists.

"oh, come on. don't leave me now." she pouts.

callie who stood a little further from them walked up to mark taking his hand and kissing his cheek.

"you coming, honey?" she asks.

he looked confused for a few second before realising what she does.

"yes, yes, umm, it was nice meeting you jasmine." then he walked away with callie. "thank you. you saved my ass."

"gwen would kill me if haven't done that." callie chuckles looking behind mark only to see jasmine watching them outraged. "she's older but pretty. maybe i get her."

"shut up."

"and you called her m'am? dude. that was rude." callie adds.

"okay, i shouldn't have said it. don't tell gwen. she will bite of my manhood if i tell her." mark says making callie chuckle.

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

gwen was closing her patient when she looked up to see the woman from the gala in the galerie smiling down at her.

gwen finished and walkes out of the o.r. into the main hall where she already waited.

"i saw you were here." gwen smiled at her. "i just wanted to, um, catch you before you leave."

"here i am." the woman smiled. "i like the blue." she points at gwen's scrubs.

"oh, thank you." gwen blushed looking at the floor. then the woman handed gwen a cheque. "oh. there are more zeroes than fit in this little box."

"let's get outta here." she whispers walking closer to gwen.

"to, uh, where?" gwen asks confused.

"come on. don't be coy. you like me. there's no way this was all about the money." the woman smirked walking closer brushing a hair behind gwen's ear.

"oh, no, it was all about the money." gwen tries to convince her.

"you flirt with me all night, get me write this big cheque, and then nothing?" she asks.

"yeah."

"and you don't feel even a little bit bad about that?" she asks as gwen stepped around her.

"no." gwen shoke her head.

"that's even hotter." the woman smirk trying to grab her wrist.

"you have a good night." gwen chuckles walking backwards.

"it doesn't have to be all about the money. you could sleep with me for free." the woman shouted.

gwen smiled turning around to see mark leaning against the wall.

"you saw this?" gwen asks ashamed.

"yes, i did." he nods.

"you're mad?" gwen asks not even looking into his eyes.

"not at all." he chuckles taking her chin so she looks up at her.

"you're not?" gwen smiles.

"nope. she flirted with you. as i said she sees something special in you." mark sighs.

"i'm sorry. i should've listen." gwen apologises.

the two walked out of the hospital to their car.

"i think you won." mark tells her opening the car door for her.

"why?" she asks sitting inside.

"after i dumped my chick she took her cheque with her." mark chuckles starting the car. "so what do you want me to do?"

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

"that's good. oh, baby. right there." gwen moaned laying in bed her back resting on the headboard.

she looked down only to see mark massaging her feets with with coconut oil.

"you like it?" he asks a bit annoyed.

"yes, mmm, you should do this more often." gwen smiles triumphantly at her husband. "and after that you could change piper's diapers, cooking dinner and put the kids to bed."

"you're the devil in person." mark groans.
