CELESTE STARLING

was a beautiful girl with blonde hair and eyes that could mesmerize the worst of people. Her mother used to call her angel because of her angelic and soft features. Celeste was a very sweet creature, never wanted any harm to happen to anyone. She and her uncle were best of friends and when Olivia entered their lives, it was no longer the two of them against the world but the three.Β

Celeste adored Olivia.

After the day Celeste and William met Olivia, she became just a friend of William. Then some time later, Olivia and William shared a kiss and began dating. It took several years for William to gather the courage and ask Olivia to marry him, but with some help from Celeste, he did that three years ago.

Starling family's move to England was because of uncle Will. He has worked in the Magical Congress of the United States of America for years now but was informed some months ago that he was going to be transferred to England.

Celeste wasn't too happy about it but it didn't take her too long to accept the news.Β Her long life in America had come to an end and a new one in England was ready to start.Β

The break up with her boyfriend Leo Marchal was one of the many reasons why she didn't mind leaving ― seeing Leo strolling around the halls of Ilvermorny wasn't what Celeste needed at the moment. Leaving her two best friends, Nathan and Beth was going to be more difficult and Celeste nearly dreaded the moment when she has to leave them behind. But that dreadful moment never came because Nathan and Beth's families had agreed to let them change into Hogwarts as well.

All Celeste could think of England was rain and tea.Β

It was actually quite funny because when she and her friends arrived to Hogwarts, it was raining.Β

Celeste scanned the interior; everything was so different from Ilvermorny. Instead of students wearing blue and cranberry colored uniforms, everyone wore dark ones. The walls of the school were aged and you could clearly see that the place has a lot of history, a lot of bad history. As Ilvermorny was a old school as well, the faculty kept it updated and light but in Hogwarts you could see the dust in the windows and the corners of the rooms. Celeste glanced at her friends who were clearly thinking the same thing. The trio walked along side with the two professors until they reached Headmaster Dumbledore's office.Β

When they entered his office it felt like they've just walked into another world; it was nothing like the school. The atmosphere was light and magical, there were tons of books and magical objects laying around the shelves and tables. Dumbledore guided the trio even further in where they spotted more adults; a short older woman who had a creepy smile on her face, she was wearing an all pink outfit which made it hard to watch her. Next to her stood a even older woman with a black pointy hat and a long black dress and a dark green cloak over it. Behind her stood a huge man with a frizzy brown long hair and beard; even though his appearance might've startled them at first, he looked very kind. Next to him stood another kind looking woman with big glasses over her eyes and a frizzy blond-ish hair.

"Meet some of our extraordinary staff," Dumbledore smiled and held his arm towards the professors. "This is Professor Dolores Umbridge, she's new here as well," he started before pointing to the woman next to her. "And this is the one and only Minerva McGonagall."

"It is very nice to meet you all," she said with her kind and soft voice. "I hope you'll enjoy your stay here in Hogwarts."

"This Rubeus Hagrid," Dumbledore continued and pointed at the huge frizzy haired man.

"Pleasure to meet 'ya," said Hagrid.

"And this is Sybill Trelawney," Dumbledore said last.Β

Professor Trelawney didn't say anything but gave them a nervous smile.

After introducing the professors, a awkward silence hovered in the air but was broken by Celeste. "Hello," she started. "I'm Celeste Starling, and these are my friends Annabeth Laurens and Nathan Gray," she introduced herself and her friends.

"We are really happy to be here," Beth said with her soft smile.

"We are glad to hear that," said Dumbledore as he walked towards a stool and a hat. "Now you have come here in the middle of a year, meaning that you missed the first semester."

"Yes well, my uncle's work got just transferred," explained Celeste.

It was rather odd to start new school in January but there was really nothing Celeste could do about it.

"And that is all right, Miss Starling. I only meant that you haven't been sorted."

Nathan nodded, taking his role as a protective brother and was the first one to sit on the stool. He felt the Sorting Hat sitting on his head as it whispered to him. It didn't take more than ten seconds for the Sorting Hat to announce his decision.

"Ravenclaw!"

Celeste wasn't surprised when Nathan was sorted into Ravenclaw ― he was an intelligent boy with a witty mind ― just like Beth and her. So when Beth was sorted into the same house of blue, Celeste grinned because she just knew that she was going to be the next one to be sorted.

But unlike Beth and Nathan, the sorting took awhile. The hat didn't say anything really, it just sat quietly on Celeste's head as she anxiously waited for the answer. She could feel the professors' eyes at her and she didn't like that ― Celeste wasn't a fan of attention. Especially unwanted attention.

"Come on..." she muttered before the Sorting Har cleared it's throat and gave her the answer.

"Ravenclaw!"

Celeste sighed out of relief. Being in a new school was already a lot but to be sorted into a different house than her friends would had been terrible. The three friends really depended on each other.Β

"Now that this has been cleared, here are your schedules," Dumbledore interrupted and handed the schedules to the trio. "And Professor Flitwick is going to guide you into your rooms."

"Thank you", Beth said.

The trio looked around while they walked to their room. Everything was so big and somehow hollow; there was so much room for everything yet the place felt really empty but not in 'there's no furniture' way, it was more like there was no light. They walked more and saw some students in their dark uniforms but instead of smiling and beaming, everyone looked sad and scared. Beth swallowed a lump that had performed to her throat after seeing the students. Celeste noticed this and took Beth's hand as they walked further until they reached the Ravenclaw tower.

"Well this is it," Professor Flitwick said. "This is the Ravenclaw Tower and your rooms will be the first ones from each staircase. I hope you'll enjoy your stay in here," her informed them and walked away.

THE COMMON ROOM

was old looking but yet very home alike; all furnitures were covered in blue fabrics, the fire place was on and the couch was filled with students. The trio walked in and suddenly all the talking in the room stopped and everyone turned their head towards the newbies.Β

Celeste hesitated a moment before opening her mouth to greet everyone. "Umm hi" she smiled. "We are new here, from America. I'm Celeste Starling."

"I am Nathan Gray," said Nathan and waved his hand awkwardly.

"And I'm Annabeth Laurens," Beth said lastly. "But you can call me Beth."

Everyone stayed quiet for a second and looked at each other questioning until a blonde girl walked to them. "I'm Luna Lovegood," the girl said dreamily, extending her hand and shaking everyones. "Welcome to Ravenclaw."

Celeste smiled at the girl ― she seemed lovely. "Thank you."

Many of the girls in the room introduced themselves first to Nathan. It was no lie that the boy was good looking and could steal any girl if he wants to ― but he didn't. He didn't want to steal a girl.Β

While everyone were parading themselves around Nathan, Luna walked over to Celeste and Beth. It was clear that the girl was a little different from others but Celeste didn't mind different and neither did Beth. She seemed nice and sweet, maybe a little lonely.

"You can come and stay in my room," offered Luna. "There's one other girl, Aubrey in there but she doesn't really spend that much time in our room."

Celeste felt bad for the girl. "That would would wonderful."

Luna lead them up the stairs to their room. She opened the door and let Celeste and Beth walk in first, the room was pretty much decorated the same way as their common room; everything was dark brown wood and blue fabric. The room had four beds and desks; quite the same way as in Ilvermorny.

"It's cure," Beth smiled and took one of the beds. "Wow, Cele! You got to try the beds, they are so soft."

Celeste grinned and sat down on a free bed while Beth walked to her trunk which was already brought in the room earlier on. Soon enough both, Beth and Celeste, started to sort their belongings before heading to bed while Luna read her book. After the girls finished unpacking they both sunk in to their beds.

"So you are from America?," Luna smiled and placed her book down.

"Yes," Celeste grinned at her new friend. "I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts with my mum and dad. I've known Nathan since I was six, he lived right next door. Beth and I met at school."

Luna was listening with such interest and enthusiasm, people didn't often talk to her. "Is your family magical?"

"Yeah my mum and dad were purebloods, so is my uncle and his wife," explained Celeste. Although mumΒ and dad died when I was six, a car accident." Celeste sighed and looked down on her palms.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Luna apologized over the news. "My mum's dead too."

Celeste gave Luna a soft smile.Β

"But I have my dad so it's all right. But what about you? If they both died..."

"My uncle raised me," said Celeste while grinning. "He's great and he's married, so I have an aunt too. She's a professor in Ilvermorny, or was. She's actually coming to teach here."

After questioning Celeste for some time, it was Luna's time to ask questions from Beth.Β

The trio continued talking; Celeste told stories about her childhood in the village, her brother-sister relationship with Nathan and stories about her uncle and aunt. Beth told her history; she was born into a half-blood family among her three siblings. Luna told more things about her life and it was quite clear that she was a lonely girl but she didn't seem to mind it too much. She didn't want t change for people which was something Celeste and Beth respected.Β

Hours later, the three of them had completely ran out of things to talk about, so it was the prefect time for some rest. They wished each other goodnight before closing their eyes, excitement traveling through Celeste's body when thinking of tomorrow's classes.
