Personality: Imani is a very open and attentive person. She enjoys being the center of positive attention and loves taking part in social settings. She is not one to get nervous easily and tries to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. She prides herself in her accomplishments and tries to use her failures as guidance for her next steps. If she ends up disliking you, it's best to assume that you are the problem because she will give everyone several chances to earn her friendship. Imani is protective over everyone that she cares for but will put her life on the line for her younger sister and Eehb. Background: Imani Wu was born in Queens, New York to Wu Xiuying and Chu Hua. Growing up, the Wu household was constantly filled with music, Xiuying a lyricist and Chu Hua a producer. Seeing their financial and creative freedom, Imani wanted to follow in their steps. However, with both Imani and her sister often recording demos for their parents' songs, Imani found herself enjoying recording more than producing. Though she knew the benefit of being able to produce her own music, Imani found herself taking more care in developing her skills as a performer.

She spent much of her early teen years dreaming about becoming an idol in China but after a few failed auditions in both China and the US, her dream felt more like a dream. Xiuying kept encouraging her daughter to continue, but with the constant criticism she received for her vocals, Imani felt like her effort was pointless.

Eventually, Imani picked up rap when she was 16 and for once, she was praised for her voice. Of course with her skill set, it wasn't enough to pass auditions right away but in late 2020, Imani finally received an opportunity to show off her potential when she participated in Crystal Girls. The show only aired for a month and miraculously, Imani placed first and debuted as the center of KSGIRLS in 2021.

Unfortunately, the group ran into hard times immediately after the failure of their debut. "Colorful Horizon" failed to catch attention and outside of those who watched the show, their debut went unnoticed.

With the hope of reviving the group, she participated on Girls Planet 999 as a member of C-Group, and to say it was a nightmare for her was an understatement. All of the Chinese trainees were treated terribly by the Korean staff but they all held their tongue, not wanting to cause trouble for the rest of their team.

Unlike most of her teammates, Imani had received positive attention when her profile was released, everyone praising her visuals and her "chic" appearance. For the most part, the general public seemed to like her. The praise continued throughout the first mission, despite Imani knowing that she could have done better. She hoped the support would continue but she didn't know it was contingent on her looks.

Imani had cut her hair before the 2nd mission and everyone's reaction to it was dramatic; a lot of people complained that Imani now looked mean and claimed that she looked like she would bully the other girls. MNET of course took this small distaste towards her and used netizen reactions to change her character completely. From a small disagreement with her teammates, Imani was suddenly portrayed as a selfish and disrespectful person that couldn't take criticism from her team. Her leadership was then called into question and she was being compared to another leader, Kim Dayeon.

Imani watched her character be assassinated in favor of Dayeon and to be honest, she wanted nothing to do with the girl after that but of course, nothing could ever go the way she wanted and the two both ended up on "Snake" team for the next mission.

Being the only Korean member on the team, Dayeon was painted as the angel of the team and it irritated Imani.

She contemplated leaving the show, wanting to give up and go back to her parents but Xiuying stopped her.

"Don't give them the satisfaction of quitting. Make this your best performance and make them see how good you are."

She was eliminated after giving her best and even though it was discouraging, it felt good to escape that hell hole.

After leaving Korea, Imani returned to China briefly to leave KSGIRLS; while she wanted to continue as a musician, there was no way that she was going to be able to while in the group, especially with their lack of content. Following her contract termination, Imani returned to Queens to take some time to rest before figuring out her next steps.

She started working alongside her parents, producing music to at least keep herself motivated but was contacted by Nebula Records to join the label in March of 2022.
