Personality: The easiest way to describe Kyungri is prideful. If she can't be the best at something she's passionate about, she'll keep working until she's recognized for her abilities. She is extremely playful, often playing jokes on those she's really close with. She is very mischievous, getting into the most random things she shouldn't have since she was a child. Overall, she is a really lovable person that gets along with most people she encounters, most known for her generous and compassionate nature.

Background: Cha Kyungri was born and raised in Goyang, Goyanggi, South Korea to Miyazaki Hitomi and Cha Jihun. She was the youngest of three and for the most part, she had a normal childhood. She went to school, got in trouble for doing everything she shouldn't have been doing, and was put in ballet when she was 8 to keep her busy while her parents were at work.

When Kyungri had turned 11, she was scouted to join SM Entertainment. Initially there for acting, she had shown interest in being an idol and was transferred to that section to continue training.

After two years, Kyungri was chosen to debut as the youngest member of SNSD. There was a lot of opposition to her debut because of her being in middle school at the time and it took a few years for SM to prove they had good intentions for debuting someone that young. To keep fans from boycotting the group, SM had kept their concept on the cuter side for the first few years.

Right before the release of their 4th mini album, Mr. Mr., Kyungri was the center of media attention as fans suspected that she was dating Got7's JB, who had debuted that year. Both SM and JYP were quick to dismiss the rumors, stating that Jaebeom and Kyungri were close friends since high school.

With both label's statements, most fans had moved on from the rumors but some continued with their suspicions and to some extent, they weren't wrong; Kyungri and Jaebeom had been sleeping together since their third year in high school but it never went beyond that, especially with JYP's ban on dating. Only their groups knew of their relationship and they had no intention of changing that.

In Kyungri's opinion, that year leading up to their 7th anniversary and their potential contract renewals was the most hectic; they released their 3rd Japanese album, toured around Asia, she managed to get in a scandal, released a mini album, and they lost Jessica. In hindsight, she saw it coming. She knew that Jessica wanted to stay but she wasn't willing to put the group first enough, even if it was for a few more months. Then came the hate towards Taeyeon for Jessica's dismissal. It was confusing why she was getting blamed for another member's actions but SM stopped them from speaking up regarding the situation, effectively keeping them from being able to defend Taeyeon.

It was around this time that Kyungri realized SNSD's decline was near. August 19th, 2015 marked their last promotion for almost two years. During that time, Kyungri began her almost complete transition into acting, making her first cameo on "Kill Me, Heal Me" as Ahn Yona. She went on to get the leading roles in "Local hero" as Bae Jungyeon and "Gogh, The Starry Night" as Goho in 2016 and "Innocent Defendant" as Seo Eun-hye in 2017.

After the release of Holiday Night, Kyungri decided to not renew her contract with SM, leaving the label after 12 years.

In late 2017, she signed with BH Entertainment to continue with acting and in 2018, she had leading roles in Sound of Your Heart – Reboot and Dae Jang Geum Is Watching.

She started growing stagnant in 2019, not really knowing what to do next. She truly enjoyed acting but it wasn't enough for her. She missed performing and it didn't seem like SNSD had anything planned in the foreseeable future. To get what she needed, she knew she would have to move on.

Kyungri ended up riding out the rest of her contract with BH before refusing to renew at the end of 2020 and began looking for another label. It wasn't until February of 2021 when Lay reached out to her, asking if she would like to join Nebula.
