Jason had been very tired since the funeral. He had been overworking himself to forget his pain. Joyce saw this, and was worried about him. She confronted him, and he asked if he could leave for a while. Obviously, since it has been quite traumatic for Jason, she allowed it.
When Jason arrived home, he cleaned his apartment up. He had been neglecting it along with his personal life. Jason had cut himself off from everyone, including Max. Jason sat down at his desk, and began writing a note. He intended to disappear for a few months to become himself once again. Jason finished the letter, and went to his bedroom to pack his bags. He also made sure to lock away all of his vigilante gear in the spare room turned central hub.
Once Jason had everything he needed, he sent out a message to everyone to go to his apartment, and he left.

It has been three months since Jason Todd was last seen. Missing posters were everywhere around Arcadia Bay, and everyone was looking for him. But he was utterly gone. The police inspected his apartment, but never found his vigilantism gear surprisingly.
Max stood at his apartment door, and wished for him to come home. She turned to leave, but was startled by someone standing in the dark, greeted by familiar face. One that was thought dead for three months. The face belonged to Roy Harper, Jason's deceased best friend.
"Come, Max," Roy said. "We need to find Jason."
Roy held out his hand, and it was a golden metallic color. Max accepted the offer, and the two went to find Jason Todd to bring him home.
