Chapter 33: Let's Chat

Nathan's POV:

I looked out the window as we traveled through the plains. There was a beautiful sunset that could be seen. A flock of Fetchlings flew through the sky. It all looked so peaceful, but I knew that it wasn't. Somewhere, people were searching for me, wanting to kill me. Even tho I loved this universe and everything in it I didn't feel safe.

I looked down at Eve who was sleeping on my lap. I petted her and I felt a tear in my eye. I didn't want to part with her. It felt like she was my pet cat or something. Jacob walked in from the next car over.

Jacob: "How ya feeling?"

Me: "Ok, I guess." He sat down across from me. "How are thePokémon?"

Jacob: "They're all sleeping in the other car." It became silent for awhile. "What's going on between you and Maia?"

Me: "Huh? W-What are you talking about? There's nothing going on between us."

Jacob: "Sorry for asking. I guess I was just a little curious."

Me: "Come on, You know how I am with girls. I-I'm just... 'sigh' I'm not good at that type of stuff."
Once again, there was silence. "Well..."

Jacob: "Yes?"

Me: "'sigh' I guess... I do have a crush on her." Before Jacob could say anything, I spoke up. "But I can't tell her. I mean, who knows how she'll react? For all we know, she would punch me in the face."

Jacob: "You worry about this stuff too much. Just tell her how you feel next time you see her. I'm sure..."

Me: "Shh.... Do you hear that?"

In another car, we could hear someone playing the ocarina. Jacob looked at me and got up, heading towards the sound. I set Eve down to sleep and followed. When we entered the other car, we could see Toon Link playing the ocarina and Toon Zelda looking out a window. Se looked at us and smiled. (You should know by now...)

T Zelda: "Hello there."

Toon Link stopped playing and looked at us too.

T Link: "Hi guys. Were you attracted by the sounds of the ocarina?"

Me: "Yes. you play it wonderfully."

T Link: "Why thank you. I found it buried in the Haunted Grove and I can use it to..."

Jacob: "Change from day to night in an instant,"Jacob interrupted.

Link and Zelda both seemed very surprised.

T Zelda: "You know about the ocarina?"

T Link: "I did hear from Maia that they knew quite a lot about our world, I just didn't know they knew about the ocarina."

Jacob: "It's a common it... er, instrument."

Toon Zelda smiled and walked towards us.

T Zelda: "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Zelda, princess of Hyrule. And that is Link. Who may we call you."

Me: "I'm Nathan, and this is my good friend; Jacob."

T Zelda: "So, you aren't from this world. Is this true?" Jacob and I looked at each other and nodded. "May I hear some about this world of yours?"

Jacob and I looked at each other again.

Me: "You want to hear about our world?"

T Zelda: She sat down next to Toon Link. "Yes. Come, sit."

We both sat down across from them.

Jacob: "What do you want to know about?"

T Zelda: "Anything. Pick anything and tell me about it."

Jacob and I looked at each other trying to think of what to say. I soon thought of something but was a little nervous about talking about it for some reason.

Me: "Well, umm... You see, we have these devices that are... well, screens."

T Zelda: "Tell me more about these screens."

Me: "Well, they're about this big," I said putting my hands in the shape of a phone. "They, uh, can do... many things."

T Zelda: "Like?"

Me: "Well, you can talk to others with them. Uh, you can, well... play games on them. You can... watch movies..."

Jacob: "He's talking about this." Jacob pulled his phone out of his pocket and gave it to Zelda to look at. I felt so stupid now. Zelda looked at it fascinated.

T Link: "Oh, I've seen Maia using a device like this before."

Me: "You have?"

T Link: "Yeah. She used it all the time to talk with Alex."

Me: "She did?" I wasn't sure why I was interested about this.

T Link: "Yeah, that is, until Alex gave Maia his and left to find the Smash Stone."

A bunch of thought soon raced through my head after hearing this. 'Why did Alex give Maia his phone,' I asked myself. 'Did Maia give a phone to Midna? And why wouldn't Alex want his own sister to contact her?'

T Zelda: "Oh, would you look at that." Zelda was looking out the window in the direction the sun was falling. It was below the horizon and the sky was dark. "My, how time does fly. We should chat again sometime."

Jacob: "Sure, I would love to."

T Link: "Well, if you need anything, we'll be up front."

Toon Link and Zelda both walked to the front of the train, leaving Jacob and Me in the car alone. Jacob let out a yawn.

Jacob: "Well, I should get some sleep." He laid down. "You should too if we're both going to learn how to defend ourselves."

For the moment, I just ignored him. All I could think about was what Toon Link said. I asked myself the same question I did before. 'Why wouldn't Alex want his own sister to contact her?'

Me: "Hey, Jacob?" He didn't respond. I looked in his direction. He was asleep. I decided to let him be and move to the next car over where Eve was still sleeping. I petted her on the head and laid down to sleep. I wanted to ask Susan a few questions. She was Alex's partner Pokemon after all. She had to know what he was thinking.

I soon found myself back in the dark room, the single light still illuminating from the ceiling. Before I could speak, Susan spoke.

Susan: "You have questions."

I wasn't surprised by what she said, I was surprised by the fact it wasn't a question like she knew I had questions.

Me: "Yeah, Why didn't Alex want to be contacted? Why did he give Maia his phone before he left to find the Smash Stone?"

Susan: "These are questions that can only be answered by the one who made the decisions."

Me: "But, that would be Alex."

Susan: "Correct."

Me: "Isn't he... uh... well... dead?"

Susan: There was a short pause. "Have you seen him dead?"

Me: "No, but everyone else has presumed..."

Susan: "Has anyone else seen him dead."

Me: "Not that I know..."

Susan: "Then there's no proof that he is dead."

Me: "So he's alive?"

Susan: "You must answer that for yourself."

Me: "Is he with you?"

Susan: There was another short pause. "You will have to find me to answer that."

Me: "But, I don't know where you are. I'm not even sure if we'll ever meet."

Susan: "Destiny has decided that we shall meet. When we meet is time's decision."
