Work Sucks

I traveled with Sonny for about  week and a half. Maggie left a few days before me to fly into Philly and I flew back out to LA for some work things. Christmas came and passed pretty uneventfully. I went home for it and while I was home, Luke put subs in my car as a present. Sonny's birthday also passed uneventfully. I wasn't spending it with him but he was flying home about a week and a half after my birthday and we agreed to spend some time to celebrate everything then. He promised to give me a night with no work involved which I didn't see happening but I was okay with just spending any time with him, work or not.

I was on a flight to Toronto to help Joel with Mau5trap. I brought Mason along with me and I felt absolutely terrible that I was making him miss Valentines day with Luke but he insisted that it wasn't a big deal and that they didn't really celebrate it anyways but I still felt bad. My birthday was in two days too and Toronto was the last place I wanted to be spending it.

My dad was in absolute shock that I wasn't throwing a party this year. Said it was so unlike me. A bunch of acquaintances and friends were even asking me about it. It was actually getting really annoying to the point where I just ignored people. I was trying to keep my spirits up but it was hard because I was going to be working on valentines day and my birthday for an asshole. That was a big reason why Mason coming was essential. I needed someone to make me smile.

Sonny was currently in Asia touring and I knew he was going to be in Kyoto on my birthday which was even more upsetting but I was trying not to focus on that. Joel was actually incredibly prepared for us from having a car to drive us around and he was going to get us seperate rooms but I told him one was fine as long as it had two beds. He pretty much said anything I needed he would get which was nice.

We were going to dinner with him tonight to go over everything. I was praying he would bring his girlfriend along so I could see them in person together but I knew that was a long shot. When we landed I bee-lined for the first coffee place I saw and got myself a large coffee. I was going to need all the caffeine I could get in these next few days. I was waiting for my drink when my phone started ringing. Sonny's name flashed across the screen and I was surprised he would be calling.

"Hello?" I answered while taking my coffee from the girl and putting my purse back on my shoulder.

"Happy valentines day!" He shouted into the phone and I could instantly tell he was drunk. Especially because there was a lot of noise in the background.

"That's not until tomorrow." I corrected him and he was laughing even more.

"I'm way ahead of youuuu. It's valentines day here! I fucking love you." He said and there was shouting and a big howl in the background. "Wait wait wait." Mason and I walked to pick up our bags and meet our driver. "Okay! On three!" He said to everyone and counted down and at the same time everyone he was with shouted "We love you Baylee!!" And I was so touched. I'm sure I looked like an idiot walking around with this big ass smile on my face but it was impossible not to smile!

"Aww." I said and started giggling. "Thank you." I said.

"Where you at?" He asked.

"Just landed." I replied standing next to the baggage claim that had yet to start moving.

"Who went with?" He asked. More like slurred.

"Mason."

"Tell him happy valentines day too!" He started laughing and I smiled and rolled my eyes.

"You tell him yourself."  I said and handed the phone to Mason who questionably took it.

"Hello?" He asked and was laughing seconds later and shaking his head. "You're funny." He said into the phone and I was happy when the belt started moving. "Oh of course. Yeah. Happy valentines day to you too dog." He laughed and handed the phone back to me.

"Hey, I've gotta go." I said when the bags started coming out from the restricted area. I said my goodbyes and hung up.

"He's so drunk." Mason said laughing and it was my head to shake my head this time but I was still smiling. "So precious that he called though." He finished and I smiled even more.

"I know." We got our bags and made our way out where we say a man holding a sign with both our names on it. We followed him to his car and I texted Joel to tell him we made it and were on our way to the hotel.

When we got there I instantly took a shower and sat at a desk against the wall with my hair in a towel looking through all my social media. Sonny posted a few new pictures of everyone in Kyoto. Todd posted a few videos of Lilly that I commented on saying how adorable she was. Mason tagged me in a photo from an hour ago. It was me standing at the register ordering coffee. The caption was "Toronto with this beauty" and I smiled and looked up at him who was sitting in the middle of the bed on his laptop.

"Thanks for the instagram picture." I said and he winked at me before going back to his computer.

"I emailed this lady about inflatable beach balls with the OWSLA logo on them and she said it's a go so we can bring all those down to Miami next month." He said and I nodded.

"Thanks." I told him and unwrapped my long hair. He offered to straighten it for me which I gladly accepted. I hated doing it myself since I had so much hair and it took so long but we had nothing else to do in the meantime. I dried it and set my straightner on while he played music from his laptop.

I sat in the desk chair while he stood behind me straightened my hair. I played on my phone the whole time while we gossiped for the most part. I got an email when he was about halfway done with my hair from an old professor at UCLA.

She said she heard I started my own buisness and asked how that was going and wanted to reconnect. I shot her one back explaining everything and asked how she was. She was actually my favorite professor at school and I got my first internship through her so I owed her.

Mason finished my hair and I got dressed. Since this was a buisness trip we decided to keep in buisness casual. I got dresed in a plain black dress that went just above my knees and a white fitting blazer over it. I grabbed some black heels with a nice necklace and did my makeup. Mason put on a nice pair of khakis and a nice button up shirt. We both looked like a million dollars, not going to lie.

We went down to the lobby and waited for the car to take us to dinner with Joel. We passed a mirrored wall in the lobby and we both made a face at each other in it which made us both giggle.

I ended up asking a bellhop to take a picture of us in the lobby. I set my purse down and we decided to make it a joke gangster picture. So he crossed his arms and lifted his chin and I put my elbow on his shoulder while crossing my leg over and pointing at the camera with a straight face.

The guy probably thought we were idiots but we were both laughing when the car finally pulled up and that's all that mattered. I posted it to instagram with the caption "We mean business." and I tagged him. I decided to tag Joel in it too because I thought it was funny and posted it.

We got dropped off in front of a nicer resturant and walked in and told the lady we had a reservation under Joel's name and she led us to some back table. I saw Joel sitting with a woman covered in tattoos and instantly knew who it was. I pinched Mason's arm while we were walking but didn't say anything. Joel stood when we both approached giving me a hug which I found incredibly forced and uncomfortable. He shook Mason's hand and we both sat down.

"This is my girlfriend Kat. Kat this is Mason and Baylee." He said introducing us and we both reached over to shake her hand.

"Nice to meet you." I said smiling probably a little too much but I was so happy she was here. I was dying to know how he would interact with her since I thought he was an asshole to everyone else.

"Sorry to ask you to fly out this weekend. Sonny told me it was your birthday too. I wouldn't have asked had I known that." Joel said and I shrugged him off.

"Work is work." I said and Mason shot me a smile. I jumped straight to the point and pulled out a folder that I was keeping in my purse that had everything we needed in it. It was filled with papers and recipts for the most part with some pictures of things. He went over it all and continuously nodded.

"Damn. Sonny didn't lie." He mumbled flipping through it and both Mason and I were playing it cool but I was trying not to roll my eyes at him. Of course he wouldn't lie. I have my shit together so what makes him think I wouldn't be prepared? Asshole.

Kat stayed silent for the most part, only saying "I like that." or "That looks good." Every now and then at all the pictures.

Mason went over every detail and wrapped it up pretty nicely. "This is all perfect." Joel said and I smiled at him but it was more of a "Fuck you" smile that I'm sure he picked up on because he returned it and I noticed both Kat and Mason look back and fourth between us.

"So where are you from, Kat?" Mason asked her breaking the tension and I went back to my food that had just arrived. Found out she was from Mexico and recently opened shop in LA. She said she didn't get much time off so she was happy with being in Toronto for a few days. Joel excused himself to go to the restroom and as soon as he was out of hearing Kat turned to me.

"I know you two hate each other." She stated and I could feel my face flush.

"That's not true." Mason said frowning a little and I was grateful for him stepping in.

"Oh yes it is." She snorted and I really didn't know how to respond. Like who the hell just says that. This was supposed to be buisness only.

"Like Mason said, that's not true." I repeated and put a bite of food in my mouth to stop myself from talking.

"Yeah, okay." She snorted and I made a mental comment of how unlady like that was.

Thankfully Joel returned and we continued to make boring small talk for the rest of dinner. Joel treated us and we all made our way out. Our car was already waiting and I told Joel I would contact him tomorrow to follow up on everything.

When we got in the car Mason just burst out laughing. "So fucking uncomfortable!" He practically shouted and I started laughing too because it was true.

"I need a drink." I said taking my blazer off and holding it in my lap. "Let's find a bar." I said and flipped my hair and Mason nodded unbuttoning a few of the top buttons.

"I like your thinking." I said and I checked the time to see it was almost ten at night. I got a text from Sonny about thirty minutes ago that just said "I'm still drunk." and I snickered at it.

"Good morning Sonshine." I texted back and put my phone back in my purse.

"There is one right across the street from our hotel. I'm yelping it now." Mason said looking down at his phone.

"Perfect. I can drop my shit off and we can go." I said and I was excited to have a good night. It would take my mind off the fact that I was in fucking Canada on my birthday and not with Sonny.

We made it back to the hotel and I left my blazer on the bed and grabbed a clutch that was small enough for just my phone and money.

We went across the street to this little bar. It was actually really nice and there was music playing. The crowd was around our age and there were people both standing around and sitting at the bar.

"I like this." I turned to Mason who nodded. We took a seat at the end of the bar and he ordered a beer and I got a cranberry vodka.

"Bitch." He laughed when I ordered and I slapped his arm. We both took our phones out putting them on the bar and laughed about how uncomfortable dinner was.

"I can't believe she just said that!" I was still weirded out by the whole thing and he laughed.

Sonny texted me asking how dinner was and I told him I would call tomorrow about it. Mason and I continued to drink and I bought us a few rounds of shots. The place was clearing out a little and the bar tender who was a younger guy stayed down at our end and chatted with us for a while. He said it was usually like this and then would empty out the later it got.

I was pretty drunk when I looked down at my phone and noticed it was almost one. "Hey, what are the odds I can plug my phone in to the music for a second?" I asked the guy and he looked around for a few minutes before shrugging.

"I don't see why not. Nobody here is paying attention." He said looking around at the group of girls gossiping in the corner and the few guys sitting at the bar with their heads down or watching the TVs up on the walls.

"Dance with me." I told Mason who laughed and jumped up. I handed the guy my phone with Sonny's Bangarang EP and told him to pit play when he plugged it in. I was incredibly happy when the music came out and the guy even turned it up a litle more for us laughing, probably because we were tipping well. We probably looked like idiots but I didn't care I was just having a good time.

I put my hands up and jumped around a little and I noticed Mason was recording it laughing which made me stop and just bend over laughing at him.

"Stop!" I shouted and reached for the phone. He put it down and kept laughing while looking at his phone while swaying back and fourth.

"I sent that to Sonny." He said over the music and I all I was capable of doing was smiling. After we were done dancing to most of the EP he gave me my phone back and turned their music back on.

We finished up and cashed out. We stumbled back to the hotel and while we were crossing the street Mason started laughing down at his phone.

"What?" I asked.

"So I sent that video to Sonny and he just replied 'Drunk ass'." Mason said laughing. I checked my phone going up the elevator and smiled at the text from Sonny saying he missed me.

"How you feeling?" I texted careful not to make any mistakes.

"Better now. Only slept for like two hours." He responded almost instantly. We made it to our room and I grabbed all my things to change and got ready for bed. I came back out to see Mason passed out in his bed and I crawled into mine after turning all the lights out. I squinted when my phone lit up the room but I opened the conversation between Sonny and I.

"Happy Valentines Day." I sent him and frowned at being alone in bed. Being drunk and lonely was the worst combination ever.

"I love you, Baylee." He sent back instantly and I smiled. I was going to reply but I passed out. I slept like a rock that night. I woke up the next morning to a knocking at the door. I groaned and raised my head. Mason was sitting up at this point looking over at me.

"I don't know who's knocking." He said just as confused so I crawled out of bed with my eyes still half closed and pulled open the door with an annoyed look.

It was a bellhop holding a boquet of roses and a plain red gift bag. "I'm looking for a Miss. Baylee." He said in a pompous voice and I rubbed one of my eyes trying to figure out what was happening.

"Yeah, that's me." I said and he held out the items for me.

"These are for you." He said and I took them still slightly confused but the roses were so gorgeous I couldn't help but smile at them. He continued to stand there and I realized he was waiting for a tip.

"Oh shit." I mumbled. I'm so classy. "Hold on for one second." I said and I went in to the room to put the things down on the desk and grabbed my wallet that was laying on the floor. I pulled out a few bucks and went back to tip the guy.

"Thanks." I mumbled closing the door. I went back to stare at the flowers in the pretty vase and the red bag. I looked over at Mason who was smiling at me.

"That boy really loves you." He said and I put my hands on my hips and went back to staring at the pretty roses and bag. "Well open it!" He shouted after a few moments of silence and I smiled before grabbing the bag. The first thing I pulled out was a card that had my name on the front. It was obviously in Sonny's handwriting which just made it that much greater. I tore that open to find a plain white card with a small red heart on the front. I opened it to see Sonny's handwritting again in the middle of the plain card that just read, "You are a cinema. I could watch you forever."

I instantly wanted to melt at how fucking cute this was. I pulled out the tissue paper from the bag and pulled out a small black box with a white ribbon tied around it. I pulled the ribbon and opened the box to reveal a gold necklace with a big monogram of my initials in pretty cursive. It was perfect and I could already think of a ton of outfits to wear it with.

I set it down and pulled out my phone to call him but it went to voice mail. "Oh my god. Call me back!" Was all I said before I hung up.

This was all so great and it made me feel bad that I didn't do anything really special for him today. I made a note to make it up to him when we were both in LA soon.

Mason and I got ready for the day and we were going to explore Toronto for a bit before meeting with Joel and few people who worked at Mau5trap at the venue tomorrow. We got dressed and I put on my new necklace to go with my outfit and we were out exploring. I put my hair up in a pretty ballerina bun which I was grateful for since it was windy out today.

We found some cute little restaurant to eat in and we both ordered beers and food. I was holding the bottle of beer and looking at it since it was some weird exported beer when Mason took a picture of me and posted it to Instagram with the caption "Beauty and Beer on Valentines Day."

"Stop!" I giggled at him. "Stop posting shit like that." I smiled at him putting the beer down.

"No way in hell. You're gorgeous so naturally I'm going to be taking your picture all the time." He winked at me and I smiled and shook my head at him.

"I love you." I giggled at him and he smirked and said "I know." before going back to his food.

My phone started ringing during the meal from Sonny. I felt rude answering in front of Mason but he shook his head. "Answer it. I don't mind." He said and I was flashed back to the day I met him when he said pretty much those exact same words to me.

"Hey." I answered.

"Happy Official Valentines Day." He said and I smiled.

"Thank you so much for the flowers and necklace." I couldn't stop smiling.

"You like it?" He asked.

"Of course I did! Listen, I'm at lunch with Mason right now. Can I call you later? When are you free?" I asked and after a few minutes of trying to work out a time that would work for both of us we just setteled for tomorrow morning.

"Okay. Love you. Bye." I hung up on him and looked back at Mason. "Being in Toronto right now fucking blows." I said and frowned and he took a bite of food shrugging.

"He's paying a lot. More than Wes does anyway. So I'm just going to stay positive and be glad that I'm here with good company." Mason spoke and he did have a point. He lifted my spirits a little and afer lunch we walked around for a bit.

"Sonny commented on my photo." He said looking down at his phone as we walked.

"Saying what?" I asked.

"It was just the guy with the heart eyes emoji" He said putting his phone back in his pocket. We walked around for a bit more before going to meet Joel for buisness. That was incredibly uneventful and his girlfriend was there and I was about a big of fan of hers as I was of Joel's so that wasn't too much fun.

The next morning I was able to talk to Sonny for a while and it didn't even feel like my birthday. Talking to Sonny put me in a good mood for a while until Joel's party that night. He was welcoming in new artists he signed recently and I couldn't give any less of a fuck the whole night. I just made sure the whole night went as planned.

I was beyond happy to go back to LA the next day. Like it was ridiculous how excited I was. The day we got back I cuddled on the couch with the obnoxiously large teddy bear and ate garbage food. The only thing that was getting me through the next week was the thought of Sonny coming home. I felt like I physically needed him here with me or I was going to melt away or something. I just needed him.

--The next part will be obnoxiously long and have both POVs so bear with me!--
