Down the Rabbit Hole

Mason and Luke had moved my coffee table leaving a big open space. The two of them plopped down on the ground and Mason threw the baggie filled with weed and glass pipe on the ground.

"Who's packing it?" He asked and Luke rolled his eyes reaching for it.

"Obviously me." He said.

Sonny and I walked over and sat down opposite of them so we formed a mini circle.

"I feel like I'm in That's 70s show." I said. I hadn't smoked in the longest time. It just didn't have to much appeal to me, to be honest. I'd rather sit around and drink with friends than smoke. I watched as Luke packed the right amount moving it around to get it just right like it was some art form or something. He reached into one of his pockets and then the other huffing. He was about to open his mouth but Sonny beat him to it.

"Here." He said holding out a yellow plastic lighter.

"Thanks dude." Luke said and sparked the flame. He covered the little hole and lit the little pipe inhaling a large amount of smoke. He tilted his head back and out came these perfect O shaped rings.

"Fucking show off." Mason said rolling his eyes while Luke chuckled just blowing the rest out. "We can't all be stoners like you."

"I don't even smoke weed that much. It's all hookah." He argued passing the pipe and lighter to Mason.

"Fun fact, supposedly hookah is worse for you."

"Says the fucking chain smoker." Luke laughed while Mason lit it up inhaling smoke. He passed it to me and I sighed as I took it out of his hand.

"You have to be the only person who is upset to receive free ganja." Mason huffed.

"If you don't want to do it, then don't do it." Sonny told me. It's not that I didn't want to do it, it just seemed like a hassle at the moment.

"It's fine." I said holding it up and lighting it. I blew out a puff of smoke and was just glad I didn't cough quickly passing it off to Sonny. I don't know why I was so surprised he was a pro at it. Of course he gets offered this shit all the time on tour.

Mason jumped up and put music on. Welcome to Jamrock came on and it was almost too cliche for me to handle. It got passed around a few more times and Luke was doing all these smoke tricks. All this was doing was making me hungry and tired but the three of them seemed to be getting along swimmingly. They kept cracking jokes and giggling like school girls. Mason handed me the pipe that was freshly packed and I skipped it and handed it straight off to Sonny who eagerly took it. I shot him a "really?" look and stood up.

"What?" He said in a whiny voice.

"Nothing." I said walking to the kitchen.

"It's cool. Clearly marijuana is not her vice." Luke said in a fake Italian accent which was the funniest thing in the world apparently. Even I giggled a little. I grabbed a bag of pretzels and walked back over. You'd think I was feeding the birds or something how quickly all their hands reached out for some.

"Jesus." I said, startled. I just let them grab at it first and then grabbed the bag and put it in my lap happily stuffing my face. Luke was asking about his tours and the new label. Sonny revealed he was getting the logo tattooed at the end of this week but I already knew that.

"Hey, you're already planning stuff for an opening?" He turned and asked me. I just nodded while I continued to stuff my face.

"It's going to be dope." Mason smiled. Smile was probably an understatement. He was cheesing hard. "And it'll be BayBay's first event under her own name. I'm so proud." He put a hand to his heart.

"No it won't. I just did Mad Decent on my own." I said.

"Yeah, but they just cut you a check to your name. This'll be your first business one!" Mason cheered.

"You're way too happy about this right now." Luke said laughing at his stupid boyfriend.

"You're starting your own thing?" Sonny asked me sounding surprised. I hadn't told him yet because I wasn't even sure it was happening. I hadn't gotten the ball rolling on anything. I shrugged.

"Maybe. I don't know yet." I said putting the chips in the middle and my hand barely left the bag before Luke was grabbing them. I decided to lay down on the ground and I put my head on Sonny's thigh. His hand instantly went to the top of my head.

"How long have you two been dating?" Luke asked with a mouth full of pretzels. I looked up at Sonny and he looked down at me. I started giggling at how neither of us had an answer right away.

"Uh." I said trying to concentrate.

"Your birthday." He said.

"No, no. Way before that." I countered.

"i asked you to be my girlfriend at your birthday party." He said.

"Oh god. I bet it was an adorable moment." Mason said swaying back and fourth. "Remember when we started dating? Talk about a magic killer." He said rolling his eyes at Luke who threw his head back and laughed.

"Let me guess. He asked you?" I asked Mason who threw his hands up.

"Oh no. He didn't ask." He said and Luke was still chuckling.

"I was working under a car and I kind of just told him we were dating mid conversation." Luke chuckled. "Fucking magical." He poked Mason's face who slapped his hand away. Mason gave him and annoyed look and Luke raised an eyebrow. "Hey, I made up for it so drop the attitude. Diva." And Mason rolled his eyes and picked up the pipe again.

"We were totally together way before." I told Sonny reaching up to grab his hair.

"Okay, then how long are we talking?" He asked running a hand through my hair.

"I want to hear how you two met." Luke said and Mason said an "aww". I've already told Mason before but obviously he's never told Luke.

"I ran into her on my skateboard." Sonny started chuckling but that turned into a full on laugh. "It sounds so bad." He kept laughing which made me want to laugh.

"Like knocked me down and busted my arm open." I said holding up an arm as if the cut would still be there. He grabbed my hand that was in the air and kissed my wrist. I smiled and felt incredibly tired all of a sudden. I put my arm on my stomach and closed my eyes. Sonny playing with my hair felt amazing.

I must have fallen asleep because when I came to they were still talking and I had no idea about what. I was too tired to open my eyes though so I remained there, motionless. It was just Luke and Sonny talking so I guess Mason left or something. I don't know, I was too tired to figure it out.

"I've got Rolling Stones talking to me about having someone shadow me and do an interview for a feww days. I don't know how I feel about that." Sonny said and Luke snorted. I had no idea what they were talking about.

"These are your problems." I could just imagine Luke rolling his eyes.

"You don't think that's weird to have someone follow you around all day? I feel like I would have to entertain them or something."

"That's like when we get new people down at the shop. My boss always makes me train them all day. At some point I just pretend they aren't there." He chuckled.

"Plus, when I'm in LA, I don't want to feel like I'm working all the time. I just want to relax a little and spend time with everyone." Sonny went on.

"No shit. Don't you only get like a week total off every year?" Luke said over exaggerating.

"I try to get back as much as possible. I'm always working with deadlines though." Sonny said and I could feel he picked up a strand of my hair and ran his hands through it. I must have dozed off again because I was woken up again by loud noises and Luke's voice.

"Where the fuck does this bitch keep a spatula?" He was I'm assuming rummaging around in the kitchen.

"Hey." Sonny said in a warning tone.

"I'm gay. I'm allowed to say shit like that." Was Lukes argument as he continued to bang around in the kitchen. "Found it." He said and I could smell he was cooking something. I wondered what time it was. I was about to fully wake up and sit up but Luke started speaking for.

"What's this shit with you and the British girl? What's her name again?" He asked bringing over the food and the only reason I could tell was because I heard a plate get set on the ground and I could smell the food. I was drooling.

"Ellie. Nothing. We worked on a song together and we're just friends." Sonny answered. "Why?"

"Just wondering. Bay was freaking about it. Kinda funny. She freaks about everything though, I've learned that."  Luke said through a mouth full of food.

"She's got nothing to freak about." Sonny said in a slightly annoyed tone.

"Can't tell bitches anything." Luke laughed thinking he was a comedian. "That's why I bat for the other team." He kept laughing.

Sonny ran a hand through my hair and I heard him yawn. "I should probably turn in. I've got a flight and show tomorrow." There was a long pause and Luke started laughing again. "Do I just wake her up?" Sonny asked and Luke kept laughing.

"Bay." He said shaking me slightly and I tried to pretend like I was still asleep. "Bay." He said again shaking me a little. I opened my eyes and looked up at him. "Let's go to bed." I groaned at the thought of getting up and moving right now.

"Get up!" Luke shouted and I damn near jumped out of my skin. I saw Mason laying on the couch passed the fuck out. I sat up and stretched a little. I saw that Luke had made a grilled cheese and the plate of food sat between the two. Sonny stood up and held out both hands to help me up which I was incredibly grateful for since I felt like a slug.

"You better clean up tomorrow." I pointed to Luke and he put his hands up.

"Calm down, it'll be clean by the time you wake up." I actually knew it would I was just reminding him. If he didn't clean it then I knew for sure that Mason would.

"Goodnight." I told him and he nodded. I put a hand on Sonny's back thinking we'd start walking but he looked over to Luke.

"If I don't see you tomorrow, it's been real."

Luke wiped his hands on his shirt and stuck a hand out. "Yeah man, let's do it again next time you're in LA." They did some stupid bro shake thing and I rolled my eyes and just walked into the bed room. I swear my bed was calling for me to get in it. I stripped down and changed into just a regular but cute pair of underwear and I was way too lazy to put a top on so I just climbed into bed like that. As soon as I plopped down Sonny came in closing the door behind him.

"I like you're friend. He's a pretty cool dude." Sonny said digging through his pile of things.

"Mhm." I said closing my eyes and melting into the bed. This is what heaven felt like. Sonny climbed into bed and wrapped an arm around me pulling me closer to him. I was hit by a wave of sadness. He was leaving tomorrow and I wasn't going to see him for almost two months. I was in my own thoughts wondering why either of us put up with this.

Maybe he would do better with Ellie. She's in the same boat as him and I'm just sitting on the shore watching it sail away.

I knew it was just because my mind was in a haze but I wanted to start crying. I don't even know what I wanted to start crying for. I wanted to cry because we didn't have enough time together. I wanted to cry because his career was on the rise and I felt stuck in mine. I wanted to cry because I suddenly wasn't feeling as confident as I usually was.

I must have been showing signs of panicking because next thing I know I have Sonny sitting up and leaning over me.

"What's wrong?" He asked and I shook my head on the pillow.

"Nothing." I tried to play it off and he made a small snorting noise.

"That's why you just started breathing like you just ran a marathon? Because nothings wrong?" He was grabbing my shoulder and turning me over. I tried to fight it but I didn't really have a chance. So I was on my back staring up at him trying to hold back tears. I knew if I started crying he would think I'm so psychopath and that was totally not the case.

"I hate getting high. That's it." I told him and grabbed a little locket of hair that was hanging. His face said he didn't really believe me but he laid back down. I stayed on my back and he put an arm around my stomach and curled into my side. I could feel his breath on my neck.

He must have sensed I was still in panic mode because he started talking. "Have I ever told you how amazing I think you are?"

"Technically you just did." I answered.

"Seriously Baylee. You're everything I imagined my dream girl being." He continued.

"Thank you." I whispered but I still felt like crying. Silence filed the room and just as I was about to fall asleep I heard him whisper, "I'll always pick you."
