South America

Sonny's POV

I was beyond excited for the South America trip. Like beyond excited. When we landed at our first stop which was Costa Rica I was feeling giddy. I was so grateful to travel with great people to great places. Everyone's spirits were high and I was totally vibing off the energy. When we got there we immediately jumped in vans and headed towards the festival.

We were meeting Ellie there which I thought was going to be an issue but I was pleasently surprised when Baylee walked right up to her and gave her a hug with a big smile. Ellie was going to travel down with us to Brazil since she was performing at Lolla too.

I wasn't going on until night so it was nice to just mosey around and meet some cool people. Baylee had brought Mason with so the two of them disappeared almost as soon as we got there. About an hour before I was on we were sitting in a big tent in the back that had a table of drinks and food. I was catching up with Ellie when I saw Baylee and Mason walking up. Baylee had a big indian hat with a load of feathers on it. Both her and Mason were laughing.

She looked good and I couldn't help but stare at her. Thankfully I was wearing sunglasses so it wasn't obvious. Her and Mason were still laughing when they walked in.

"Look! I ran into a group of your fans and one of them gave me their hat." She giggled and reached up to touch it.

"Tell her she looks like a dork." Mason snickered and Baylee slapped his arm and kept laughing.

"I do not!" I noticed Liam, a camera guy of ours, came up behind me and snapped a picture of her without anyone really noticing. He looked down at his camera and then noticed me staring at him. He tilted it my way so I could see the tiny screen to see a picture of Baylee in the ridiculous hat laughing. I just smiled up at him and went back to watching Mason and Baylee tease each other, completely ignoring everything around them.

"What the hell are you wearing?" Hog came up next to Baylee and she just bent over laughing.

"Why is everyone hating on the hat?" She laughed and took it off her head shaking her hair out. Baylee and Mason made their way to get a drink before leaving the tent again.

"You two have been dating for a while now, right?" Ellie asked next to me.

"Yeah. Three years, give or take." I tried to calculate in my head but was drawing a blank. I usually just measured it by my EP release dates.

"I'm jealous. Wish I could find something like that." She sighed.

"Haven't you been getting cozy with Adam?" I asked with a smirk.

"Who'd you hear that from?" She asked with a frown and I was confused.

"Wait, you're not? Aren't you two working together?" I was confused.

"Yeah, but we are trying to keep it quiet." She frowned.

"Well apparently home boy can't keep his mouth shut." I snickered and leaned back in my seat.

"Men." She rolled her eyes and I just raised my cup to cheers her as a joke.

"We're starting to set up, Son." Hog came and patted me on my shoulder and I got up and decided to start and get ready.

My set went almost flawless. I almost spilled a drink on my stuff but I caught it in time. Other than that though everything went well. We went back to the same tent and celebrated a good show. I couldn't stop laughing at one of my equipment guys asking what whiskey and vodka would taste like together so I made him a drink which was disgusting but he drank it so props to him.

It was good to just hang out and mess around with everyone before going to the hotel. I was half expecting to just head up to my room but we all went in one of the party rooms in the lobby and kept the party going. We ran into some weird choir group there and invited them along. Wes ended up here since he was playing the festival tomorrow.

"Wesley!" Baylee smiled and hugged him. The two of them chatted for a bit. I wasn't keeping track of Baylee all night but...I was totally keeping track of Baylee all night. I've been thinking about asking her to move in with me officially. I feel like I'm carrying this weight on my shoulders or something. The only people I've talked to this about are Wes and my mom who both think it's a great idea.

I could tell she was getting drunk because every time she gets hammered she is always cheesing so hard and she couldn't stop smiling and giggling all night. Wes grabbed me and asked to mess around with me on the table which I was always down for so him and I set up in the corner and blasted music.

After we played for a bit we started to slow the music down and I could tell everyone was getting a little too drunk to keep going. Wes and I were on the same floor of the hotel so we decided to leave. I grabbed Baylee who grabbed Mason and headed out into the lobby to catch the elevator. She had an arm around Mason and the two of them couldn't stop laughing. That's when I noticed in her other hand was a bottle of Grey Goose.

"You did not grab a bottle." I asked while we waited for an elevator and she started giggling and tried to hide it.

"Shhh." She told me and tried to hide the bottle in her shirt.

"You going to drink all that now?" Wes asked chuckling.

"We're going to share." She said and wrapped her arm holding the bottle around Mason who also just stood their giggling.

"We aren't done partying." He whispered like it was some secret. "We're wild for the night, Skrillex. You should know all about this."

Wes started laughing. "Did you know you're girl knows every word to that song? Like every fucking word." Wes pointed at Baylee who started laughing again.

"No?" I questioned because I didn't know this.

"Come party with us." Mason laughed. Wes looked at me and shrugged.

"Sure." I laughed. We headed up towards Mason's room and Baylee wasted no time in opening the bottle and taking a sip. "You know, I'm beginning to think you're an alcoholic." I told her sitting at the desk chair. Wes came over and hopped up on the desk.

"I want to hear this rap again." Wes laughed and pulled his laptop out of his bag.

"I'm too drunk!" She giggled and covered her mouth before passing the bottle to Mason who also took a sip.

"No! You're doing it!" Wes shouted and took the bottle from Mason.

"Okay. You have to do the Skrillex part though." She pointed to Mason who just laughed and nodded. I was so incredibly shocked that she actually knew every single line to Wild for the Night. Wes had grabbed his phone and toke a video of most of it too. It was hysterical because we were all drunk and Baylee was getting into it pretending to be a legit rapper.

The next morning after I managed to drag Baylee back to our room was rough. Baylee threw on a shirt with my logo that was a little too baggy and tucked portions of it into her while shorts. She looked like a mess but she looked great doing it. She was also wearing sunglasses and had a permanent frown on. We stood outside waiting for a bus to take us to Brazil.

"How's your head?" I snickered while grabbing her face.

"I'm still drunk." She mumbled. "Like this is bad." I couldn't help but laugh at her and she just shoved me. "Be nice to your drunk hungover girlfriend." She frowned and I just grabbed her face again and kissed her.

"Stop that right now." Mason came up behind Baylee and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Hi friend." She reached back and patted his head.

"I want to die." He mumbled putting his forehead on her shoulder.

"We went to hard in the paint. Also, I rapped the whole Wild for the Night rap?" She asked slightly confused and I just started laughing and pulled my phone out to show her. "Wow this is embarrassing." She mumbled while watching it. Mason was watching over her shoulder chuckling.

Eventually the bus pulled up and we made our way to Lollapalooza. Again, I wasn't playing until night so I had all day to mosey around. I was going to go watch Ellie's performance which Baylee agreed to come with.

After that Baylee went off to walk around with Mason and I got to talk with Ellie. We were sitting up in a lawn area smoking without being disturbed. It was very refreshing. We were talking about music for a while before I brought up Adam again. We talked about him and his work for a while before she asked about Bay.

"Is it hard? Always being on the road without her?" She asked and I shrugged and took a drag.

"She comes out a lot. Shit, between Wes and me and Joel, she's all over the place."

"Well obviously you think it's worth it. Or she's worth it." She said taking a drag of her own cigarette.

"Wouldn't put up with it if I didn't think it was." I told her and she nodded.

"So you two are pretty serious?" She asked and I raised an eyebrow confused as to where this conversation was going.

"Yeah..." I trailed off.

"Like, how serious?" She asked and I just looked at her funny.

"Where is this going?" I finally asked and she sighed and then groaned.

"I feel like I shouldn't be telling you this but I overheard a conversation between her and Mason that I obviously wasn't supposed to hear about you. Something about you asking her to move in with you." She said and I just looked out at the festival.

"Huh." Okay, so she already knew I was going to ask her. Fucking Wes probably said something. I felt like I was gossipping in high school or something.

"There's more." She said with a frown. "She mentioned something about you talking to another girl." I turned to look at her. "See! Fuck. I shouldn't have said anything!" She mumbled and threw her dead cigarette in the grass and stepped on it with her foot.

"What the hell?" I mumbled. I mean, it wasn't a total lie but I wasn't talking to her like that. I met her at a show and she was a painter. We ended up following each other on Instagram and then we exchanged numbers somehow and I guess we kind of talked. But really, nothing like that.

"It's really not my place to ask but...Do you? Talk to other girls?" She asked me and I frowned and took a big drag.

"Not like that. And it's just one chick." I mumbled and she sighed and rolled her head back.

"Sonny." She said in a warning tone and I stuck the cigarette in my mouth before sitting up and grabbing my phone out of my pocket. I unlocked it and opened the conversation with Charmaine. I threw the phone at Ellie who barely caught it.

I watched her eyes scan over the phone and she'd scroll ocassionally.

"See, nothing bad." I told her and she just frowned and handed the phone back but stayed silent. "What?" I questioned and she bit the side of her mouth. "What? Tell me."

"I'm just saying. If I were her and I read this I wouldn't be too happy either." She frowned.

"What is so wrong with this?!" I asked confused.

"I don't know Sonny. I'm really not the one to be giving relationship advice here." She frowned and looked out. "Heads up." She nodded her head and I looked over to see Baylee, Mason, and Liam heading over.

"Hey! You did amazing!" Baylee smiled and sat down in front of us with Mason. Liam came and sat next to Ellie to show her some pictures he took of her performing. "We just saw like half of MGMT." She said to us and bobbed her head.

"How was it?" I asked and gave her a small smile. Meanwhile, in the back of my head all I could think of was what Ellie had just told me.

The rest of the day was the same as it usually is. My set went well and everyone was having a good time. We were driving back to Costa Rica to the house that Hog had found for us. We were going to be getting there obnoxiously late but we had all day tomorrow to relax which was going to be nice.

Baylee fell asleep on me in the ride over and I almost knocked out too but right before I was about to we pulled up. It was a nice house with an even nicer view. Even in the pitch black it was obvious this place was gorgeous.

Baylee and I both passed out as soon as our heads hit the pillow. I woke up the next morning to a soft glow filling the room. I raised my head to see the whole sky a nice orange and everything lighting up. The upstairs had an outdoor balcony thing so I decided to quietly crawl out of bed and step out there to check things out.

Everything looked amazing. It looked like a postcard of paradise. I decided to wake Baylee up since I knew she would want to see this. While she stared out at the ocean in silence, I decided that today would be the day I ask her to move in with me. Most of my morning was spent thinking of when and how to do it though and I felt like I wasn't even soaking up all that this place had to offer. We decided we needed food and drinks so a group of us went to a grocery store to buy stuff which ended up being mostly just alcohol.

When we got back, we all swam for a bit before everyone just lounged around. I decided to chill on the balcany upstairs for a while and just look out. Baylee and Mason were sun bathing next to the pool which I had a nice view of from up here. It was getting a little later and I watched Baylee get up and disappear inside before I heard her upstairs shortly after.

"You've been making me nervous." She appeared on the balcony and I swung around and jumped down off the ledge.

"Why?" I asked coming up to her and pulling her to my chest, rocking back and fourth slightly.

"I've just been waiting for you to fall off. I'd really rather not witness your death." She rubbed my back for a second before leaning back and looking up at me.

"Like I'd die from one fall." I snickered and she rolled her eyes. "Want to head down to the beach in a bit. Just you and I." I asked and she smiled.

"Yeah!"

She came up here to throw on a college shirt over her bikini. It was ripped at the collar though and somewhat slouched over one shoulder.

"No shorts?" I asked with a laugh and she turned around to look at me.

"Nope." She winked before heading back downstairs. She went back outside to sit down by the pool and I ran into Hog in the kitchen.

"Hey. I need a favor." I asked him as he poured himself a drink.

"Sure. What's up?" He asked.

"I'm going down to the beach with Bay. Mind making sure nobody bothers us for a bit? Kind of important."

"Are you popping the question dude?" I saw his eyes widen and I instantly shook my head.

"No no no. Just going to talk." I said quietly and he nodded.

"I was going to say, you can't just spring things like that on me!" He laughed and took a drink. "But I got you, don't worry."

"Thanks dog." I headed back outside to where Baylee was. I hovered over her and she looked up. "Let's go exploring." I told her and she jumped up.

"You kids have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" Mason winked at me and I rolled my eyes before grabbing Baylee's hand and leading her down the path we found earlier that led to the beach.

"Oh wow. It's gorgeous down here." She stood on the sand and looked out at the ocean. The sun was just about to start setting on the horizon and everything seemed to have a glow to it.

"I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come on this trip with me." I said and put an arm around her shoulder and kissed the side of her head. "Want to walk?" I asked and she nodded. I grabbed her hand and we walked along just where the water was meeting the dry sand. I was getting frustrated with myself because I didn't even know how to bring up this conversation. We walked in silence for a bit before I finally just decided to rip it off like a band aid.

"I've been meaning to ask you something." I mumbled and she stopped walking and turned to look at me. I was half expecting her to chime in with a comment but she remained silent. I almost wish she would have interrupted me so I had something to go off of. "I've been thinking for a while and I think it would uh," I started tripping on my words. "I mean I think we're in the place to be...shit." I mumbled and ran and hand through my hair. She just raised an eyebrow at me but I saw that spark in her eye which was the only thing calming my nerves down right now. Why was this so hard?

"Spit it out, babe." She finally snapped her finger at me and I sighed.

"I want you to move in with me." I blurted. I looked up at her and her expression stayed pretty much the same. She opened her mouth to say something and then closed it. I guess in my head I pictured her jumping up and screaming yes, not sitting here taciturn which was making my heart pound in my chest.

"Sonny." She looked torn.

"This isn't really the reaction I was expecting, just so you know." I mumbled to her and she frowned at me.

"I just..." She sighed and looked around for a second before looking back at me. "This is a big deal."

"Okay?" I questioned confused. Maybe I should just stop talking?

"Before I say yes I just want you to, I don't know, be honest and say that this a step towards something else." She grabbed her hair and sighed. I couldn't help my self. I started laughing. "What the hell are you laughing at?" She said angrily and I just kept chuckling but shook my head.

"We both sound absolutely ridiculous. Neither of us can speak." I chuckled and she started smiling.

"I'm trying to be serious here." She slapped my arm and I just nodded.

"Okay okay. I'm listening." I told her and she crossed her arms and stared at me.

"This has to mean something to you." She said and I was confused at what she was trying to get at.

"Of course this means something to me Baylee. I've been thinking about this for a while now and I couldn't be more sure." I told her and she sighed.

"Fine, I'll just come out and say it." She looked down at the ground. "I went through your phone and read a conversation between you and some chick." She glanced back up at me to read my reaction.

Shit, do I pretend like I didn't know she knew? Or do I call her out on it?

"You're mad." She mumbled and looked back down.

"No, I'm not. I know what you're talking about and I assure you that nothing about her is meaningful. I met her at some show through some mutual friends and she's into my music and shit like that. Means absolutely nothing to me." I tried to assure her.

"It's just, if I say yes I need you fully committed to us, you know?" She said and I reached out and pulled her into my chest.

"I am, Bay. You're the only thing I see when I see my future now because you're the only thing that's been constant in my life since the day I met you." I told her and I felt her rest her head on me and wrap her arms around my back. "Just to be clear, did you just agree or...?" I trailed off not really sure where we stood. She started giggling into my chest.

"Yes, Sonny. I will move in with you." She smiled up at me. "Clear enough?" She asked with a hint of sarasm and and I reached down and picked her up. She screamed and started laughing. As soon as I started heading towards the ocean she started squirming.

"No! Put me down!" She screamed but once I was about knee deep I fell over with her in tow and soaked both of us. She got up and screamed with her hair all over her face. "I'm going to kill you. My hair was just starting to dry!" She kicked water at me and I laughed and jumped up. She spit and frowned. "I just swallowed a bunch of salt water."

"Spitters are quitters." I teased her and she glared at me before jumping on me and tackling me back into the water. Once we were done messing around in the water we started to head back since it was starting to get dark.

"I think I'm going to jump in the pool when we get back. I'd rather be covered in chlorine than keep tasting this salt." She said and I smiled and grabbed her hand. As we were walking back up the path she turned to look at me.

"First one to the pool wins!" And she took off.

"Hey!" I shouted and ran after her. We both ran up the path and jumped onto the patio and we both cannon balled into the pool. We both swam up to see everyone on the patio startled by us coming out of no where and jumping in.

Tomorrow we were back on the road for more shows but all I was really looking forward to was going back to LA.

--Chapter loosely based off the video. If you ever have the chance, Lollapalooza is the greatest music festival ever so if you ever have the chance to go I totally recommend. Also Also, I like had an epiphany the other day to Deadmau5's Seeya so everyone should listen to that because that's all I've been listening to for like a week now. --
