Sounds Good

Sonny's POV:

This week was going to be ridiculous. Actually, this whole month has been so far but this week in particular felt extra stressful or rushed or whatever. I was speaking at the International Music Summit and I still didn't really know what I was talking about. I had two shows in LA while I was here and Wes was flying in to start to piece together our EP. To top all of it, Baylee's dad was in town so I felt like I needed to spend time with him. Long story short, there are not enough hours in the day.

Baylee was all over the place too between work and getting everything together for the wedding that was in three months. She even commented the other day how she felt like she never had a moment to herself anymore.

I was at the Nest when working on a set for my show tomorrow night when Baylee walked in with her dad who was looking down at his phone with a frown. He then looked up and was surprised to see me sitting there. "There's my favorite DJ!" He smiled and I stood up to greet him. "What are you working on?" He asked.

"Trying to put a set list together for a show tomorrow." I told him and he looked interested. Baylee always joked that her dad had a crush on me which I thought was hysterical.

"Let me hover over your shoulder while you work." He chuckled and I really didn't care. Baylee sat down at one of the tables we had with a frown. It was then that I realized both of them were dressed up.

"Where were you at?" I asked.

"Courthouse." Her dad answered and I felt like an idiot for forgetting that. That was the whole reason her dad was in town in the first place was to help Todd fight for custody.

"Right right. I forgot that was today. How'd it go?" I asked and continued to build my track list.

"Oh she came out guns blazing! She's clearly going to make this nasty." Her dad chuckled. "Shame he had to knock up such a crazy broad." He joked and Baylee looked up from her phone with a glare.

"Dad, seriously?"

"What? It's true!" He shrugged and stepped back around the table I was sitting at to go sit with Baylee. "Sonny when's your talk thing? What is that again?" He asked.

"Uh, not tomorrow but the next day and to be honest I don't really have a clue. I'm going to in blind." I told him and he nodded.

"Well I'm looking forward to that." It was quiet for a minute before her dad turned to Baylee. "What's Cara doing these days? Every time I try to talk to her she blows me off." He said and Baylee laughed.

"Yeah, you and me both. She's so taciturn these days."

"Is she dating that guy? The mouse one?" He asked and I couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm just going to say yes but I really have no idea. Anytime I question her about it she avoids the question."

"What do you think of him?" Her dad turned to face me. What was he looking for me to say? "Everything I watch about this dude just tells me he's a dick."

"Nah, he's a good guy. Really smart dude." I told him and he waved me off.

"You're biased." I laughed and shrugged. He was pretty accurate. What was I going to do? Trash the guy who gave me my first contract? "Show me around." Her dad tapped the table to get Baylee's attention.

"Uh? Okay? I thought we were going to dinner?" She said and he stood up.

"That can't wait ten minutes? What are you, a savage?" He teased her.

"I haven't eaten a damned thing all day so yes." She said. I looked back to my computer and went back to work. She showed him around and explained everything as she went.

"Alright. We're leaving." Baylee said. "You're more than welcome to join."

"I'm good. I want to try and finish this so I'm not cramming tomorrow." I told her and she gave me a thumbs up.

"Alright, let's go old man." She pushed him out the door.

I finally finished a track list and got everything ready. I even practiced it because I had time and I was really the only person here, which was rare but I decided to take advantage of it. I wraped up all my shit and threw my laptop in my backpack. I dug around for Baylee's car keys in my bag before finding them.

I drove myself home and wasn't surprised to see Baylee sitting on the couch surrounded by papers and on the phone.

"No, that's not what I want." She looked up at me for a second before digging through all the papers again. I set my bag down on the other couch and stood over, seeing what she was looking at. "No! I specificly told you no to those. I'm staring right at a copy of the sheet I sent you, so I don't know why this is such an issue." She rolled her eyes and leaned back on the couch.

Obviously she was on the phone with someone about the wedding since she was surrounded with all of her planningn papers. "Yeah, okay. Send me a picture when it's fixed. Yeah. Thanks." She mumbled and hung up. She grabbed a small throw pillow and put it up to her face screaming.

I couldn't help but smile at her frustration and sat down next to her, leaning back and putting an arm over the couch. She threw the pillow on the couch and sat forward to re-organize all of her stuff.

"Where's your dad?" I asked.

"At his hotel. He had a business call with someone in china or something." She mumbled. "I was just trying to relax and watch my stupid show," She pointed to the TV that I just realized was on but on mute, "and now I'm dealing with this bullshit because people can't do their jobs right!" I was waiting for the smoke to start coming out of her ears, like in those cartoons.

"Relax, babydoll." I smirked at her. She looked back at me for a few moments.

"That's new." She commented and then stood up, grabbing her folders of papers. I watched her walk over and set them down on the kitchen table. She was wearing very short cotton shorts and an OWSLA shirt that was two sizes too big.

"You should take a day off tomorrow." I said and she made her way back over crossing her arms and standing in front of me.

"I'm going to the courthouse again to support Todd." She said.

"Well what time are you going?" I asked.

"Shit, I don't know. Around one or something." She said trying to remember.

"So sleep in and then go do something for yourself. Get your nails done or something." I said and she just looked at me with her head cocked to the side a little. She looked like a confused puppy. It was actually adorable. Then she uncrossed her arms and looked at her nails which just made me smile.

"I could use a manicure." She muttered and I stood up. I walked over to her and kissed her lips before heading upstairs to change.

"When you come back down can you bring a blanket with you?" She asked. When I came back down she was balled up on the couch watching whatever was on TV. It was beyond nice to spend the night in for once even if I did have to sit through Baylee's shitty TV shows.

"What are you forcing me to watch here?" I asked. I had no idea what was going on other than it looked like a bunch of rich kids who were overly dramatic.

"I'm not forcing you to watch anything. You came and sat with me." She sassed.

"Okay, what am I voluntarily watching because I want to cuddle with my future wife?" I told her and I saw her smile. She had the blanket around her and was leaning on me. She sat up and crawled on top of me so she was sitting sideways in my lap.

"It's Gossip Girl. It's only the best teen drama series." She smiled and went back to watching while her head leaned on my shoulder.

"Want to tell me why I'm twenty six years old and watching a teen drama series?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Because I like it." Simple as that. I don't even know why I asked, I wasn't going to win. I put my arms around her under the blanket and lifted her shirt up a little to rest my hands on her skin. "This is nice." She said quietly and I agreed.

I asked questions about the show because I had no idea what was going on. I really didn't care what was happening either but she was happy to talk about it and I was happy to make her happy so it was a win-win.

I was loosing interest after a while though but she was still completely invested. How can chicks watch this shit? It sucked.

"Oh this is my favorite scene." She said and sat up a little, leaning forward. I watched some guy and girl make out after exchanging too many cheesy lines for me to keep up with. I took the opportunity while she was leaning forward to kiss the back of her neck.

"Don't distract me from my favorite part." I heard her say but I just smiled against her skin and kept going.

"Mhm."

"Sonny." She said in a warning tone but she tilted her head back in my direction which was all I needed to keep going.

Baylee's POV:

I was about to switch my career path to wedding planner and just plan this whole thing on my own because everyone who was helping me was doing it wrong. It was driving me absolutely insane. Sonny wasn't much help either but I couldn't blame him for that.

I felt bad for my dad for dealing with my constant bitching about this on top of all the legal shit going on with Todd. He never seemed to complain about it though so I was just going to continue to bitch about how nobody can do their job.

The next morning I woke up before Sonny and stretched a bit before deciding to take a shower and get ready for the day. I closed the bathroom door behind me and turned the water on. I smiled remembering last night. I pulled my shirt off and striped down. I was in such a great mood and I was excited for Sonny's show tonight so I was on cloud nine. I glanced in the mirror mostly to look at how wild my hair was. It was sticking out in every direction which made me giggle. Just as I was turning I noticed something out of the corner of my eye and I looked back.

I turned my head and noticed two big purple marks, one kind of behind my ear and the other on the back half of my neck. I touched them and realized that I was staring at two hickeys. Are. You. Kidding. Me. I took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door, not even caring that I was half naked.

"You're fucking dead!" I shouted which startled him. I raced over and jumped on top of him, slapping. He buried his face and tried to push me off.

"What the fuck!" He finally said but I just kept slapping at any part of him I could reach. "Fuck! Baylee!" He reached up and grabbed my wrists and flipped us over. I was getting tired so I just let him. He was leaning over me staring down.

"What the fuck!" He said loudly.

"Yeah! What the fuck, Sonny! I thought I said no more hickeys!" I said and turned my head. I watched his eyes glance over me and then he started laughing.

"Oops." Was all he said and I tried to free my wrists but he wasn't having it.

"I'm going to kill you when you let go of me." I told him and he just smirked down at me.

"Guess I'm never letting you go." He leaned down so his face was almost touching mine. "I'm sorry, Bay." He said and I wanted to melt.

"I hate you." I muttered which only made him smile more.

"I think you'll get over it." He said back and his lips met mine. Everything I was mad about completley went out the window and all I could focus on was him. My morning ended up just being a repeat of last night before we went about our day.

Sonny's show was successful and he was somewhat nervous for his talk that he was doing. I think he was nervous only because he didn't do that many interviews and he was blocked in to take up an hour.

I was excited for it because there would be so many press people there and those are my people. Journalists and Public Relations teams and managers; it was heaven! We were backstage with Sonny before he was supposed to go on and he was getting to know the guy who was the moderator so it wouldn't be as awkward. I snuck away and managed to get both my dad and I press passes so we could sit in the audience.

"You're press now?" Sonny asked and held the tag attached to the lanyard around my neck.

"Yeah. I'm going to sit in the audience and ask you embarrassing questions." I teased him.

"I'll start shouting out song requests." My dad added and I laughed.

"Basically, we're just going to make a big scene." I giggled. "But you'll do great and I'll see you after." I kissed him on the cheek. My dad and I made our way out into the audience where a sea of people mingled with each other and networked. "Want to sit in the back?" I asked and my dad nodded. Just as we were making our way I heard my name being called. I looked around but couldn't find anybody.

"Baylee!" I saw someone waving at me and I recognized someone that I went to school with.

"Hey Ben!! I haven't seen you in so long!" I hugged him and he smiled at me. "You look good!" I said politely.

"I didn't know you were into music. I thought you went into party planning?" He asked and I laughed.

"I'm kind of both now I guess. I plan for labels." I explained and his eyes lit up.

"Oh which ones? What firm are you with?"

"I'm independent. I work with Sonny's label," I gestured to the stage. "And then Mad Decent which is Diplo's whole project." I was happy to talk about work with someone who actually knew what I was talking about for once.

"Oh my gosh! That's amazing! How'd you score that?" He asked animatedly.

"Uh, well I met Sonny when he was up and coming and just got the ball rolling from there." I nervously explained. I wasn't about to go into the workings of my relationship with a near stranger. "Where are you working?" I asked.

"I'm currently representing Atlantic." He said and I nodded.

"Okay, Sonny's got a deal cut with them because of his Dog Blood project he did and then he's independent too. Isn't like David Guetta and Flux signed there too? Oh, and Penny just signed there!" I asked and his eyes lit up.

"For someone not in music you sure know a lot about it." He wiggled his eyebrows at me. I didn't really know what to make of that so I just polietely smiled and I was saved by the lights dimming a little. "Well it was great seeing you. Find me after and we'll catch up some more." I waved at him and went to go sit next to my dad in the back.

I thought it was funny because for someone who was nervous, Sonny was pretty damn animated when he talked. I did a happy dance when a guy walked up and handed him a pair of promotional headphones. I also smiled when a guy explained he was a struggling DJ and Sonny told him to throw his flash drive up.

"For someone who dropped out of school when he was sixteen, he sounds very intellectual. I'm impressed." My dad whispered in my direction and I didn't know whether to be insulted on Sonny's behalf or agree. My dad left afterwards to go deal with his own work, which left me alone. I left the room, not feeling like being social and creeped into the back.

"What's up, chatter box?" I smiled and popped up next to him.

"Was I talking too much?" He asked with a frown and I started laughing.

"No! You sounded good. My dad was impressed but he had to leave. He sends his love." I smiled which made him smile.

"I felt like I kept tripping over my words." He said and I shook my head.

"No, you sounded good." I reached up and kissed him on the cheek. "I like listening to you talk." He put an arm around my shoulders and smiled down at me.

"Sonny, I just got an email from someone at Bonaroo." Hog said coming over and looking down at his phone. "Asking if you're interested in a mini documentary." He said and I warpped my arms around Sonny and squeezed him.

"Say yes." I said instantly which made Hog laugh. Sonny just looked at me. "Come on, the Red Bull one was amazing!" I squeezed him again.

"You only say that because they filmed the proposal and gave you a special copy." He smiled down at me.

"And a lot of free shit." Hog said and but I ignored him.

"Do it." I told him and he looked up at Hog.

"Yeah, sure." He said and I squeezed him again. Sonny stayed and mingled for a bit before we all jumpd in cars and headed back to the Nest to celebrate a successful day. Maggie and Mason came by which was nice since I felt like I hadn't spent time with them in a while.

"Nice hickey." Mason commented halfway throughout the night and I could feel my face turning red. Maggie started laughing and let out a little cheer.

"You hate hickeys!" She said in between laughs.

"Yeah, no shit." I glared at her which just made Mason laugh too.

"Sonny!" Mason shouted and we all watched as Sonny's head turned in our direction. "You're a dog." Mason pointed at him and started laughing which just made me slap him upside the head.

"How's the planning going?" Maggie asked.

"Everyone is an idiot. I'm about to just take over myself." I told her. She smiled at me.

"I'm surprised you haven't already." She poked me.

The rest of the night was spent with good company and good vibes. It was the first time in a long time that I didn't feel stressed or the need to be doing something work related in a long time, which was refreshing. All I needed to worry about was Todd and getting his shit figured out and the wedding which was wrapping up.

That night both Sonny and I were a little drunk when we plopped onto the bed. I started giggling at him after staring at his face for some time.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing. I'm just happy." I smiled and he smiled back. "Everything is coming together nicely." I told him.

"Good. I'm glad you're happy." He said.

"I'm always happy when I'm with you." I giggled again, the alcohol taking full effect.

"You weren't so happy this morning." He started laughing and I fake glared at him.

"Yeah, thanks for the hickeys asshole." I reached over and slapped his chest.

"I'm wounded." He curled up in a ball which just made my drunken self laugh. "Help!" He called out.

"You're a dork."

"But I'm your dork." He smiled at me.

"You know, in less in a few months I'll have your last name." I said with a small blush.

"And I couldn't be happier about it." He said and reached over and kissed me. "Mrs. Baylee Moore." He said and I wanted to start dancing or something.

"Sounds good." I smiled and kissed him again.

"Sounds amazing." He said, his mouth on mine.
