we looked back to the lake. jason was getting Patricks body from under the water. while jason was distracted eddie jumped into the water. "Where is he going?" robin asked. "to the other side of the lake to hide. if hopper has asked for back up as soon as that back up sees eddie they will arrest him" i answered. 

i felt so bad for eddie. he had seen two people die and he was being blamed for something he didnt do. 

within minutes hoppers back up had arrived. i had to sit over by the house with jason calming him down but all i wanted to do was punch him for blaming eddie for something he didnt do. "its ok jason just breathe, ok?" he nodded his hands shaking, and his pulse was very fast. i looked over to where the cops were. they were now covering up patricks body. i felt sick knowing that could be me in less than 24 hours and there was nothing i could do about it. i didnt have a favourite song and everyone seemed to forget that i was cursed after the events that had just happened. 

"y/n we've got to take you back home" nancy came over and said. "oh yeah um sorry for your loss jason" i got up and walked off with nancy to the others. 

"eddies walkie is probably damaged from the water when he jumped in so y/n are you ok finding him?" steve said to us all in a low tone. "yeah" i replied. "Nancy you take dustin, el, will and mike. steve you take max, y/n, robin and lucas and i will lead you guys there with hopper" joyce told us the plan. "doesnt hopper have to stay here?" i asked. "not if he claims he is looking for eddie" she states smartly. we go to the cars and head to a nearby parking lot. 

once we arrived at the parking lot away from everybody i wrapped a bandana around my eyes and focused on eddie. "a big rock. surrounded by trees" i described the area. 

"is it on raised ground?" steve asked

i climbed on top of a smaller rock next to it. "yes but i can also see the lake from here" 

"Skull rock" steve instantly said after my reply. "right I'll get my compass out" dustin stated and i take the blindfold off. "can we at least eat the food that hopper got us first" max stated and i nodded in agreement. "im starving" robin added. steve grabbed three pots of fries and handed one to me, el and robin. "Fixed you can eat on the way there". he started walking towards the woods. "well that definitely went as planned" robin said shovelling a few fries in her mouth and following steve. 

we finally made it to skull rock and eddie was sat there holding onto a piece of a broken coke can so he could use it as a weapon. i held my hands up beside me to tell the others to stop going closer. "hey eddie?" i spoke softly. him flinching instantly. "its me y/n. its ok im here to help" i got closer to him and was able to get the weapon out of his hand. as i threw it away he pulled me into a hug. "i dont wanna see that again y/n, i-i cant" his voice cracking in the middle of his sentence. "its ok we are going to stop this" i held his face in my hands. "i dont want it to happen to you y/n i cant l-... we cant lose you" we where holding intense eye contact our faces inches apart but our bodies close.

"ahem" steve cleared his throat causing me and eddie to back away from each other. "what just happened" dustin said in a confused panicked tone. we all ignored him. robin and max laughing. "look lets just get straight to the plan. y/n has less that 24 hours to her name and max well her future is more complicated than steves love life" mike stated. 

"wait a minute that no-" steve tried to say but joyce started to talk over him.

"so thanks to y/n we all saw the glowing red under the water which i think we can all agree that it was a gate"

"a water gate" dustin added

"so the detective is sending out a little search tonight on the water to see if there are any clues to what caused this other that eddie" when hopper said that eddies hand tightened around mine making me realise we were even holding hands. "so that means there will be spare boats on the lake that we can all hop in so we can stay together. i will go into the water to double check that it is a water gate then i will come back up and we can go back to land and decide on what to do next". we all nod our heads and go back to the cars. me and eddie at the back. eddie holding my hand the whole way back but trying to hide it at the same time. 

i held his hand tight so he knew that i was there to protect him. "dont do that" he said slowing down his walking pace, so we were far from the others. "do what?" i was confused at what he meant. he just sighed. "you are protecting me but i cant protect you it hurts me knowing that i cant potentially do anything to stop this vecna from getting you" his eyes were starting to well up. "its fine eddie, im fine. actually, there is something you can do to help" desperation filled his eyes. "You can help me find my favourite song". a smile spread across his face. im glad i can bring happiness to others in what could be my last few hours of being alive. we caught up with the others, thankfully they didnt notice we were gone, and hopped back into the cars following hopper back to his cabin. 

"Sorry the foods cold guys" hopper said handing out the heaps off food at the table. "its ok" some of us said together. robin turned to me. "hows eddie?" i looked over to the entrance of hoppers room. "i dont know, he didnt really say anything apart from sorry and the occasional im going to throw up" i could tell everyone felt so bad for him as their faces dropped. "Hopefully he will feel a lot less sick tomorrow" nancy said sadly. i grabbed some of wills fries and put them in my pot. "hey!!" he raised his hands. "for eddie" he instantly went quiet. "im going to try and get him to eat" i stood up and headed to the bedroom. 

"hey eddie?" i spoke softly. he was just laid there staring at the ceiling, emotionless. i sat on the bed next to him. "i brought you some food if you want it" there was no point trying i was definitely not going to get an answer. but i was determined on getting something out of him. "do you want to help me find my favourite song, be my hero?" still nothing. "plea-"

"just get out i dont want to speak to you. GET OUT!!!" i had never heard him speak like that before. to be honest it scared me. i flinched at his shouting which made him instantly regret it. but before he could apologize i got up and left the room. "hey, are you alright y/n?" i just ignored max a kept-on walking out of the door, slamming it behind me with my powers. i walked and walked until i was at the other side of the lake, which wasnt that far of a walk. i laid on the damp grass not caring if my clothes would get wet or not. i stared up at the sky and decided to do something crazy. 

"hey peter or 001 or henry" i let out a slight laugh. "im just going to keep it simple with peter, its been 4 weeks since i last spoke to you, since you last held me in your arms." my eyes started to sting from the tears "i miss hearing your laugh and seeing you smile. it kills me because im starting to forget what your voice sounds like. i feel so guilty for that. you should have never left because i want to join you. and i may not have the right state of mind at the moment but all i know it i would do anything to be with you" i sighed wiping the tears from my eyes. "thats why im going to do this" 

i stood up wiping the grass off of my butt and legs not worrying about my back. "im sorry guys" i looked back towards the cabin. 

"COME GET ME YOU SON OF A BITCH" i screamed towards the nights sky. "YOU MIGHT AS WELL, I CANT BE ARSED TO PLAY A WAITING GAME WITH YOU, im ready" i lowered my voice.
