i woke up and looked at the watch, the memories flooding my mind. everyone else was asleep so i got up quietly and walked out of the door. i sat down by the lake plucking the grass out of the ground. "Hey that's my lawn you're ruining there" i turned around and saw hopper with a mug in his hand which had steam coming from the top. "sorry". "dont worry it was only a joke" he walked over to me and sat down. "011 told me about that boy" he sighed. "if you ever need to speak to anyone im here, ok?" i smiled and nodded. "so this boy, 011 wasnt sure if he was your friend or boyfriend" he chuckled. "to be honest i dont know either, he took a big risk for me, well not only me but eleven too" he nodded understandably. "look kid i was up half the night hence the cup of coffee but i was able to get someone to get you and 011 birth certificates" a beaming smile appeared on my face. "Really?" he nodded and i jumped into a hug. "Watch the coffee i need it" we both laughed. 

"hey 004" i saw the curly haired boy at the door. "whats his name?" i asked hopper. "mike" i smiled to say thanks. "yeah?" i got up and walked over. "joyce said us kids could sit down over there by the lake and get to know each other, but we have to wait for her to do the picnic". "sure" i walked inside to go see 011. i lightly shook her shoulder and she woke up. "hopper got us birth certificates so we can stay here. we can go to school" her face turned from half asleep to a happy and excited expression. "Lucas give these to the girls please?". Lucas walked over to us and handed us a new pair of clothes. once i was dressed i walked out of the bathroom and saw 011 wearing some shorts and a pink vest. i was wearing some shorts and a red vest. us three girls and the four boys walked over to the small clear patch of grass on the side of the lake. me and the ginger girl who i learnt was called max laid out the picnic blanket as 011 and mike where talking. i hadnt seen 011 this happy in ages. lucas, and the other two boys who names i also learnt, will and dustin were throwing rocks into the water. 

we all sat down and passed out the picnic food joyce had made. i looked back over to the cabin and saw hopper and joyce happily watching us. suddenly a man came out from the bushes and shoots them. i go to turn back to the others to warn them but the were gone. i saw someone that i didnt believe. "Peter?" he looked up at me and smiled. "but you're" he just frowned at me. i felt as if i were falling but i was still sat in the same space. "004?" i suddenly snapped back to reality. "sorry just thought i saw something" i smiled to brush it off and we all went back to our conversations. i looked back at the cabin and saw hopper and joyce sat on the floor smoking. thank God they were safe. "so have you guys ever been swimming?" both me and 011 looked confused. "like when you go in the water and like swim around" he did a motion with his arms which i suspected is what you do when you swim. we both shook our heads. "we've only ever been in deprivation tanks" i said and they all looked confused. "ill let 011 explain this one". 

once she had finished, we all stood up and one by and jumped in the lake. it was freezing but i eventually got used to it. We all huddles in a circle. Ripples forming around us from our little paddling to keep us afloat.  "so 004, 011 do you have the same powers?" will asked. We both shook our heads. "i can only do telekinesis" 011 said. "I can do telekinesis, mind control and I can project feelings or memories to people, or I can experience people's feelings by entering their minds" I looked back over to the cabin where hopper and Joyce where keeping a close eye on us. "how do you project memories?" dustin asked. "like this" I closed my eyes and eventually I was in the void. I focused on a memory which was when me and 011 where running through the woods. I then thought of the group who I wanted to project the memory to. One by one they appeared. Watching me and 011 run from afar. "wow that's sick" Mike said feeling the leaves on the floor. "I wish i could do this" max said as she looked over to me.

Then I snapped out of it and we where all in the water. I wiped my nose. "kids it's time to get out" Joyce was now by the picnic stuff holding a towel each for us. We swam back over to the land. Once we where dried and our clothes where changed we sat in the living room showing off our telekinesis. We told them all our stories of how we ended up in the lab. Hopper probably went through 20 cigarettes with Joyce and probably developed a couple new wrinkles on his forehead from his eyebrows being raised so much. "right, lucas, dustin, Mike and max I'm sorry but you're going to have to go home. I told your parents you would only be gone for 2 days". All of them groaned and whined. We all said goodbye and they promised they would come back tomorrow. About an hour after they left we had some food and headed to bed.

Ever since the experience I hadn't slept well. I missed him, this was his dream too and he didn't deserve to miss out on it. Its just the fact that I didn't get to process his death it all happened so quick. I remember being held in his arms and falling asleep. Having our little private sessions. Knowing ill never be able to see his smile again. It really breaks me. I was eventually able to get to sleep but was soon woken up by a noise. I looked over and saw that the door was open. I looked over to the other two airbeds on the floor. I could only see 011 but not will. I climbed out of bed placing my feet on the freezing cold floor. I saw will stood outside looking straight forward. "will?" I whispered. He had no emotion on his face. I shook him slightly but he never responded. I knew I had to enter his mind to get him out of this trance.

I closed my eyes focusing on will. Suddenly I fell to the ground. I was next to the lake by the cabin but it was different. The sky was cloudy and there where red lightning bolts shooting across the sky. I looked and saw will by the door but he wasn't alone. Their was a thing next to him, almost like a shadow. "WILL?" I shouted and he turned his head to me. The shadow thing was getting closer and closer. I had to stop it somehow. I raised my hand moving it further and further away. It struggled, trying to take a different shape to try and escape my clutch. With my other hand I signalled will to come over to me. Once he got to me I held his hand and we came back to reality. Before I could take in what just happened he pulled me into a hug. Grasping onto me so that thing couldn't get him again. I lowered myself to sit on the steps making will do the same. I slightly pushed him away so he could look at me.

"what was that" I asked. Tears now slowly falling down his cheeks. "well it all started in 1983 I was on my way back home from Mike's House..." after he explained the whole story to me I was shocked. "so that thing. The shadow monster you thought it was gone" he nodded. "but now it's back. When did this all start again."i asked." Um probably the night before we found you and el. I had feelings that it was back. Well I get goosebumps and I feel cold" he rubbed the back of his neck. "how do we get rid of this thing?" he just shook his head. "there is one thing I have never told anyone before" I raised my eyebrows indicating for him to carry on. "there is one thing that controls it all. It's not the shodow monster it's the thing that took me that night. It's like a human but inside out, like...fleshy"
