The Master of Masters {Part 3}

Final part of "The Master of Masters" Mentions of Order 66 and the Clone Wars, so if you see some errors, or if I got them mixed up, PLEASE let me know in the comments. Anyways, here we go!

We all stared at her with wide eyes.

"I don't believe it... It's really you..." Ahsoka said.

Zunela smiled softly at her.

"So, you knew who we were when you met us at the jungle's edge, didn't you?" Kanan asked.

"Darling, I knew every Master and Padawan since Order 66. I knew your Master's Master... Kanan Jarrus." Zunela said.

Kanan's eyes widened.

"And I knew your Master's Master... Ahsoka Tano." Zunela said.

Ahsoka couldn't help but smile. I walked over to the others and sat down on the sofa, Zunela's lightsaber in hand.

"And you, Zelara June, your mother, and her Master were the finest duo I've ever seen," Zunela said.

"You knew my mother?" I asked.

"Of course. She had an amazingly big and kind heart."

"Just like you." Ezra said, nudging my arm.

I smiled at Ezra's words and continued to listen to Zunela.

"All of your Masters were incredible. The four of you are spitting images of each of them," Zunela said.

"Even me?" Ezra asked.

"Of course. Your Masters are forces to be reckoned with."

Kanan and I chuckled at Zunela's words.

"But you... You're no Master, nor Padawan." Zunela said, turning in Isen's direction.

"No ma'am. I'm just a cousin of one." Isen said, looking at me.

I smiled sweetly at my cousin.

"Zunela, why did you hide out here for all these years?" Ahsoka finally asked.

Zunela's pale eyes closed and sighed before standing up and walking to a table.

"I'm over a hundred years old, dear... I can't do what I use to, especially now since I can't see a darn thing..." Zunela said.

A sympathetic look was painted on my face.

I can't imagine how she must feel...

Zunela picked up a piece of paper and a hologram and soon brought them over to us. She placed them on the center table, and we all leaned in to get a better look. On the paper was the Jedi Order symbol.

"I know that symbol. They were always on the cover of books my mother once had." I said.

"That symbol was more popular than the Resistance's back then." Kanan said.

"What's on the hologram?" Isen asked.

He picked it up and turned it on. Then, an image appeared of seven Jedi.

"Who are those guys?" Ezra asked.

"In the middle is me, and the six at my side are Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Mace Windu, and Nomi Sunrider. We were some of the strongest Jedi back then. They were also my best friends..." Zunela said.

We stared at the image in awe.

"Wow... You all look really strong, too." Ezra said.

"Thank you, my boy." she said.

Isen turned off the hologram and placed it back on the table.

"I wish I could fight like I used to, but without my sight and my old age..." Zunela said.

We all looked at her with sympathetic looks. I looked at the lightsaber in my hand and smiled.

"Trust yourself, trust the Force," I said.

"What?" Zunela asked.

"It's something my mother used to say. You don't need your eyes to see; you have the Force. The Force can't restore your vision, but it CAN replace it."

"What do you mean, Zelara?" Ahsoka asked.

"The Force is always around to lend us a hand. For instance, it can help you see things you've never seen before. If you can see yourself, you are never truly blind."

The others smiled and nodded in agreement. I got up and walked over to Zunela, holding out her lightsaber.

"What do you say... Master?" I asked.

Zunela sighed and took hold of her lightsaber. A bright smile appeared on my face. She then walked over to the trash bin and dropped the lightsaber in it. The look of confusion and surprise was clear on all of our faces.

What...?

"I appreciate the encouragement, but it's going to take a lot more to get me going again..." she said.

"But Zelara's right..." Ezra said.

"My boy... I can't... Not anymore... I'm blind and old. What can someone like me do?"

Venus walked up to her and made a sound as if she were purring.

"I'm going to take a walk... You kids are welcome to stay..." Zunela said.

She then walked out of the freighter with Venus close behind. We were left in silence.

"This is not what I was hoping to find..." Ahsoka said.

"We're with you. None of us expected that, but can you blame her? I mean, she fought in every war, Ahsoka." Kanan said.

"I can't even begin to imagine how she must feel..." I said.

Ahsoka picked up Zunela's lightsaber from the trash bin and sighed.

"I wish I could turn back time and... change everything..." Ahsoka said.

"You are not the only one..." I said.

The boys nodded in agreement. Ahsoka sighed and placed Zunela's lightsaber on the center table.

"Well, we better start heading back to the fleet." Kanan said.

I sighed silently and nodded.

"Still, why would Zunela quit being a Jedi?" Ezra asked.

"Who knows." Isen said.

"I don't think she quit being a Jedi. Maybe something happened to her over the years that made her... step down from that role... Now that I'm thinking about it, can someone actually quit being a Jedi?" I asked, turning to Kanan.

Kanan shrugged his shoulders.

"Back then, you could leave the Jedi Order if you wanted to, but I don't think that ultimately means you're not a Jedi anymore." Kanan said.

I turned to Ahsoka who remained silent, staring down at the lightsaber

"Well, maybe something happened to Zunela that made her leave." Ezra said.

"That is a possibility. But what could have upset The Master of Masters to make her leave the Jedi Order?" Isen asked.

We all fell silent. I soon got up and made my way to a desk with old books and papers. I then picked up a brown leather book with the Jedi Order symbol on it. I opened it and saw that it was a journal.

"What do you have there, Zelara?" Ahsoka asked, walking up to me.

"I think this is Zunela's journal. I'm not one for snooping, but I'm curious," I said.

"Curiosity killed the Lothcat, you know." Ezra said.

"But satisfaction brought it back."

Ezra then huffed out a chuckle. I rolled my eyes with a smile and then began to read a random entry.

"Another day, another victory. I just finished beating Anakin in a duel, again. I must say, he is a very formidable opponent. He's a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure. Sometimes, I can't help but smile when I hear his Padawan cheer him on, even when he's losing. I know I am not her Master, but I cannot wait to see what kind of Jedi she becomes."

"Ahsoka, that's you she's talking about." I said.

Ahsoka turned away slightly with a sheepish smile on her face. I turned back to the journal and flipped through the pages, continuing to read.

"A new day, a new war. The Republic waged war on the Jedi Order out of the blue. But I'm not going down without a fight. Our once clone friends turned against us and the Jedi Order. A good clone friend of mine almost killed me. I just hope the others and I can prevail and end this senseless war..."

"The Clone Wars..." Kanan said, walking up to us.

Ezra and Isen soon walked up to us and began listening as well. I then turned to what appeared to be the last entry.

"How am I still alive? Not a day goes by without me asking myself that question. I fought and survived every war. I was told war was to support our homes and nations, but it is a lie. Told by those who profit from bloodshed themselves... I don't want to fight in another war... I can't watch my friends get killed... I can't watch my friends betray and leave us... and I'm willing to give up my sight to make sure I don't have to fight in or see another war ever again. The last thing I want to remember seeing is the beautiful, Coruscant sunset..."

All was silent.

"I chose to become blind." said a voice.

We turned around and saw Zunela.

"Using the Force, I ran my lightsaber across my eyes. Next thing I knew, I couldn't see anything," Zunela said.

"But, how did you get all the way here to Yavin 4?" Ezra asked.

"The Force guided me here. I don't know for what purpose, but I'm just grateful I'm still alive."

"And you will be, long after we're gone, won't you?" Kanan asked.

"By the will of the Force."

Ahsoka and I nodded in agreement.

"Come back with us. Come back with us to the Rebel fleet. Your fair share of knowledge will be a big help." Ezra said.

"You want or you need?" Zunela asked.

"What?" Isen asked.

"You WANT me to come back to help you and your Rebel friends, or do you NEED me to come back to use my knowledge to take down the Empire?"

She has a point. There is a HUGE difference between wanting and needing...

I sighed silently and stepped forward.

"We want you to come back with us. Everyone will be overjoyed to see you again after all these years." I said.

"The Empire will soon know of my existence and try to kill me." Zunela said.

"Like you said; you're not going down without a fight." Ahsoka said.

"We've dealt with the Empire hundreds of times. There's nothing they can throw at us that we can't throw back." Ezra said boldly.

"I made the mistake of running away from my problems... I don't want to see someone like you make the same mistake." Isen said.

"What do you say?" Kanan asked.

Zunela faced our direction with her pale eyes and sighed. She walked over to the center table and picked up her lightsaber. She then started making her way to the trash bin.

Knew it was too good to be true...

She then opened the freighter door and walked outside. She looked back at us and smiled sweetly.

"Well? What are you lot waiting for? Aren't we heading back to this Rebel fleet of yours?" she asked.

Our faces broke out into surprised smiles.

"You really mean it...?" Isen asked.

"I'm done hiding from the Empire. It's about high time I show them what happens when they mess with The Master of Masters." Zunela said.

"All right!" Ezra said excitedly.

Ahsoka walked up to Zunela and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Welcome back... Master..." Ahsoka said.

Zunela placed her hand over Ahsoka's and smiled. Zunela then whistled and the Howlers from before came scurrying over. They all let out a cry before we got on their backs.

"Back to where we met them, you guys." Zunela said.

Like before, the Howlers crawled up the towering trees and began leaping across the branches at top speed. This time, Ahsoka, Kanan, and Isen enjoyed themselves while riding the Howlers. They then started crawling down the trees and we were back at the Phantom. We got of them and stroked their orange-yellow heads. Zunela turned to Venus and placed a hand on her head.

"I promise to visit you and the others when I get the chance." she said.

Venus then let out a purr like sound.

"Thank you for being with me for all these years. I'll never forget you..." Zunela said.

She wrapped her arms around Venus' neck and hugged her tightly. The others and I smiled at the sight.

Being that Zunela established such a deep connection with these creatures, I'm not surprised that she would miss them. I mean, she lived with them for so long.

Zunela stepped away from Venus and stepped into the Phantom. We waved goodbye to the Howlers before taking off into space.

"So, you want us to drop you off at Dunoir, Isen?" Kanan asked.

"Are you kidding? I'm sticking with you guys," Isen said.

"Really? What made you change your mind?" Ezra asked.

"I want to put an end to the Empire's rule, and I can't do that fighting in droid battles all the time. I want to work and fight with you guys. Whatever you want me to do, you name it, and I'll do it."

I smiled at my cousin as we jumped into hyperspace.

I'm glad that Isen's changing his life around and wanting to help others...

We soon came out of hyperspace and were soon back at the fleet. We walked back inside the main ship where Sabine, Zeb, and Hera were waiting for us.

"There you guys are. I was getting so worried." Hera said.

"Really? Didn't know you had the heart to worry." Kanan teased, wearing a cocky grin.

Hera glared at Kanan before playfully punching his arm.

"Where were you guys all day?" Zeb asked.

"Out looking for someone." Ezra said.

Sabine then noticed Isen and tilted her head to the side.

"Who's he?" she asked.

"This is Isen Cobalt, my cousin. He was wondering if he can join the Rebellion." I said.

"Anyone who hates the Empire as much as us is welcome in my book." Zeb said.

"Thank you. I'll do everything in my power to live up to your expectations." Isen said.

"We also found..." Ahsoka began.

We all stepped to the side and revealed Zunela.

"This is Zunela Cordway. You may know her as The Master of Masters, or General Cordway." I said.

Hera stepped back in surprise.

"THE General Zunela Cordway? I thought you were..." Hera said.

"Nope, I'm still here. It's a pleasure to meet you three. Your friends have told me much about you on our journey here," Zunela said.

"I remember studying your military tactics in the academy. You were one impressive general and tactician." Sabine said.

"The Empire still doesn't know how we were able to foil their plans."

"And with you on our side, they'll never know what hit them." Zeb said.

Zunela couldn't help but chuckle.

"Now, how can I be of service to you kind folk? I may be blind, but that doesn't mean I can't help." Zunela said.

Hera soon led Zunela around the ship, introducing her to everyone.

"I'm glad we found her." Ahsoka said.

"Yeah. Maybe I'll be able to spar with her one of these days." Ezra said.

"Ezra, just because she's blind, doesn't mean she can't beat you in a lightsaber duel." Kanan said.

"Even if she wasn't blind, she would still kick your butt, kid." Isen said, ruffling Ezra's hair.

Ezra let out a laugh and pushed away Isen's hand. I smiled at the boys before turning back to Zunela, who was talking with Commander Sato.

It's just like Zunela said; she's not going down without a fight...

Hey everyone! Sorry this took so long. I really hope you enjoyed this part. I enjoyed making it. May the Force be with You!
