The Wonders of Life (Cassandra Sandsmark, aka Wonder Girl)

She was scared. Her eyes stared at the door, her mind still unable to comprehend what was happening to her. Technically she knew what happened, but she didn't want to admit it. It was still something that she was still trying to comprehend herself. She didn't have the time to have others preoccupied because of her. Yet here she was at the mansion that belonged to one of the greatest superheroes she has ever met. Her hands trembled, as a sudden urge to vomit invaded her throat.

"Calm down, Cassie... You can do this..." She tried to steel herself, to prepare for what she had to do. She still didn't know just how it happened. Or how everything came to be. But one thing was for certain, and it was that she was pregnant. The news that she was becoming a mother is only known by herself. She didn't even know how to prepare or what else to do. Because all she knew was that on that crazy night, she didn't manage to control herself quite as well as she would have hoped. But before she could prepare herself even further, the door opened.

"Cassandra..." She gulped quite loudly, the man that she was hoping to see was now staring directly at her. She could see the slight confusion in his eyes as she slowly lowered her hand from the doorbell of the mansion that she failed to touch. Just looking at his eyes was enough to make her stop breathing even for the slightest of seconds. Now that he was in front of her, she didn't know what to say or even how to explain herself. "It is nice to see you again"

"N-Nice to see you too, B-Bruce..." She stuttered out, her hands behind her back as she didn't dare to even move from the spot that she was currently occupying. Words got stuck on her throat, her mind unable to decide just how to tell him the news. He was sure to be shocked, the single moment that she got careless was the exact moment that she had to start ovulating. She couldn't hold it against her body, she should have known that she wouldn't be as lucky when she even decided to do what she ended up doing.

"Is something wrong?" And she also hated the fact of just how Bruce Wayne, who stood across from her and looked with curiosity in his eyes, was able to know everything. She tried to start talking, she did try. But whenever her words wanted out, fear invaded her entire body and her throat would just clamp up. She knew that the sole reason for her trip back to the Wayne Manor was to tell the man the news, to let him know that because of her actions he was now going to be a father. And she really couldn't blame him either, he had tried to stop her. But she knew how she acted when there was something in her mind and when she wanted something.

"I..." She started, trying to find the way to explain everything to the hero across from her. The fact that she also knew that Bruce Wayne was also Batman was all thanks to her brief relationship with Timothy Drake. What made things worse was the fact that she had recently started seeing Tim once more, though she was certain that he only asked her out once more as a way to get his mind out of the failed relationship he had experienced recently. "I'm seven weeks pregnant"

Silence filled the entrance of the manor. As soon as she analyzed exactly what her words were, her eyes widened in shock. She didn't want to just outright tell the man without first explaining that he was the father. She knew for a fact that Bruce Wayne was the father of her unborn baby. Tim had only returned into her life about three weeks ago, and the only one that she had that sort of relationship at that time was with the Dark Knight himself. But her eyes stared at his own, and if she had to be honest with herself, she didn't know how he would react to the news.

"I'll have to congratulate Tim" She looked at him, really looking at the Dark Knight in front of her with a slight intensity in her eyes. She expected to see or even hear something from the man to know that he was, for the first time in his life, joking with her. But time passed and she didn't see any change from his earlier comment. It made her slightly frustrated to hear that, but it is not like she could hold it against him for just assuming that the child was Tim's. She had yet to tell him the truth, yet to confirm even the slightest doubt that he may have in his mind.

"Bruce... We've only been back together for less than three weeks..." She finally cleared things up a bit. She could definitely see the cogs turning in his mind, as if trying to guess who exactly the father of her child was. She would have slightly mocked him for not realizing that it had been himself who placed the baby inside of her, but she didn't want to torture the man like that. He had suffered enough just for her to add more problems to him. She just wanted to tell him, to let him know that he would be a father. "It's yours Bruce..."

Yet again, silence ruled all over the entrance to Wayne Manor. She saw just how his eyes widened slightly, his eyes looking slightly down before going back into staring at her carefully. She didn't deviate her sight, she knew that he was the father and there was no shame in admitting it. What she didn't expect however, was just how the man took out his mobile and quickly dialed a number. A raised brow was exactly how she reacted, looking at the hero in question waiting for whoever he called to answer the phone.

"Alfred?" She blinked, never expecting the man to call Alfred of all people. She expected him to call someone to verify her word. Expected him to reach out to their various common friends so he could verify her story. Yet calling his butler was one of the things that she didn't expect. "Cancel all of my meetings today" She widened her eyes, looking at the man. She could feel his stare, feel the way he was looking at her with such care. It only reminded her of that night seven weeks ago. Reminded her of moments that she wanted to relive once more. "And contact the family doctor. I need him to arrive at the manor as fast as he can"

She smiled, a genuine one, just watching how much he cared. She knew that he may not show it most of the time, but he was someone that really cared about people. And she could say for sure that he would go an extra mile just for those who were his family. She just stared at him, looking just how focused he was ordering everything that she may need during these few weeks. It only amazed her further. She was very happy to know that Bruce was not going to ignore their baby's existence, that he would be there for their child once he or she is born. And she also couldn't wait to feel just how doting he would be with her.
