Manifesting Love (Carol Ferris, aka Star Sapphire)

"The nerves!" A woman in a very exotic black dress shouted as she kept on driving her red luxurious car down the road. Her brow was twitching in anger, her mind just punishing her for being so oblivious to what was really happening. She was so wrapped in the past that she didn't see what was in front of her.

She stopped the car, giving the keys to the valet, before striding towards the entrance in haste. She didn't want to talk with anyone, didn't want to see anyone. All she ever wanted to do was think back and just wonder what she missed to not notice just how down he fell. To see the real man behind the hero she once knew.

She slowed down her pace, walking a bit more slowly through the hallways and heading inside the room she had bought for two nights. She had her eyes closed, a slight tear escaping from her socket as she gave out a sigh. She still didn't want to believe that he had become such a narcissist in such a short amount of time. But she had seen it with her own eyes. And it was then that she knew, that she would never find her real love.

"I need your help, Sapphire" The woman quickly donned a pink ring, an energy suit covering her almost in seconds. Her eyes were wide in shock, looking to the side to see the white of the man's eyes... the pupils hidden in the darkness of the shadows of the room. "There is a-"

"How the fuck did you get in my room?!" She screeched, her pink ring shining brightly and started to create an ethereal looking rope. But as soon as she created her manifestation, it suddenly disappeared. It made her remember that since she didn't possess strong amounts of love, her powers were vastly weaker.

"That is not of your concern, Carol" She gritted her teeth, her ring shining strongly but unable to manifest anything at all. The now known as Carol Ferris, is a member of the Pink Lantern Corps denominated as the Star Sapphires, was almost glaring daggers at the man in the shadows. "Just know that I need your help because this is your area of expertise"

"Oh? The Dark Knight having troubles in paradise?" She mocked, a sly smirk on her face. Carol was having a field day thinking that Batman had problems with the fairer sex. She positioned her hands over her hips, accentuating them slightly, but she didn't see a reaction from the man. Her teeth clicked together in slight irritation, though she did stop trying to capture him.

"No" She almost faltered, the straight forward answer provided by the man was shocking but expected. She knew of the serious attitude of the man in the shadows, so she was not as surprised as she would have been if it was another person. What shocked her was the fact that he even answered her question with such forwardness. "Ivy has been manipulating Gotham with pheromones. Making them love her as if she was perfection itself"

She stood there, her eyes darkened by the black bangs of her hair. She tightened her hands into fists, feeling just how her atms started to tremble slightly. She loathed the fact of people using love in such manners. And while she couldn't say anything since then she should call herself a hypocrite, she had changed from what she once was. And knowing that Ivy was manipulating people by using fake love... It made her almost snap.

"What do you need me to do..." She growled out, anger dripping from her mouth in haste. She already knew that the hero already had an idea on just what to do to stop Poison Ivy. She was technically the last piece he needed to complete the plan, and she knew it.

"She has been using one of Ace Chemicals' labs from the outskirts of Gotham to spread the pheromones out" The man explained, which made the woman frown a bit. She crossed her arms under her chest, looking at the man with a blank stare. "I have already prepared the counter formula to Ivy's pheromones. All I need you is to distract her long enough for me to sabotage her plans" She raised a brow at that. It was very well known that Batman had his 'family' to help him on such occasions. So it intrigued her to know that he didn't trust them with this. "And before you ask, Robin and the others are under Poison Ivy's 'love'"

"I... see..." She whispered, her mind finally catching up to the real predicament of the situation. It was not just civilians this time around, but heroes and, possibly, villains were also under Ivy's control. There was no time to just dwindle around and do nothing. "When do we leave?"

"Right now" His answer was short and to the point, and she could definitely not judge him for wanting to be quick about it. She wouldn't like to see a lovesick Superman trying to protect Ivy. That was a fight that she knew that she would never win.

"Shit..." Carol whispered, as she evaded a flurry of batarangs thrown by a love-sick Nightwing. Her Power Ring also acted, manifesting a pink wall to disrupt the momentum from Red Hood. She was really tired of fighting them, all of them being as tenacious as the leader of the famously called 'Bat-Family'. She could even notice just how Robin, Batwoman, and Spoiler were already starting to wake up and struggling against the restrictions that she had created. "When will he be done with this?!"

"Dear, Carol..." She heard the voice of Pamela Isley, the one behind the act that enraged her. She couldn't help but glare at the woman. She may have been a vicious villain in the past, but she was trying to do better. Even if others were still fearful of her change. "There is no stopping me. Their love for me will make them do anything I want" Just hearing the pale green skinned woman say the word 'love', made Carol want to strangle the villain plant user. But those moments were enough to distract her, receiving a blast straight to the face thanks to an exploding batarang. "I will finally save my children from their hands"

Carol saw just how every love-sick person was surrounding her, the feeling of unable to escape this situation increasing every second. She glared at the smirking Ivy, her eyes unable to focus on the female. Her mind was concentrating on the people surrounding her.

"Now... Nightwing, be a dear and be done with-"

*CRASH*

She looked up, her eyes widening slightly at seeing the Dark Knight dropping from the glass roof. His cape took the form of actual bat wings, helping him glide down to attack the one nearest to her. Her chest felt a slight constriction, her heart pounding loudly against her chest as she saw the hero defend her from his own family.

Everything slowed down for her. Her eyes only focused on the dark figure of Batman, watching carefully and critically every movement the man did to defend her. Her ring pulsed, timing itself with the beats of her heart. The sudden surge of power manifesting out of nowhere was increasing at a rapid rate.

"Sapphire..." She looked at him, her ring manifesting various animals to restrain the people who were under Poison Ivy's control. Just looking at his face made her heart and powers soar to the sky. "We need to stall them for at least five more minutes" She ducked, avoiding a batarang thrown by Batman himself. She glanced behind, looking just how the batarang pinned an officer to the wall. She looked back to the Dark Knight, watching just how the man tossed another officer over his shoulder. "Can you still go?"

"Of course" She confirmed, but her heart wanted something else. She needed the boost in power, or she wouldn't even last the whole five minutes. She had been fighting over five hours already, and that was while using even less than half of her powers since her ring depended on the amount of love she felt. "But I have to recharge my ring's power"

"Do it quickly. We don't have-" It was then that she acted, her purple tinted lips kissing the Dark Knight. She felt the slight tension of the man's body but apart from that, he didn't even blinked. As soon as she kissed him, her powers rippled like waves, pushing everyone away from the two. The kiss didn't last long, her lips disconnecting from the Dark Knight's lips slowly.

"Hmm~" She moaned, licking her lips as she stared at the man for a few seconds before looking at Ivy with a predatory stare. "Ivy, you will never understand love..." Carol stated, looking just how Ivy was glaring at her. She returned it, the fierce look never dropping. "So... Why don't we start round two?"

The fight was going to be a fierce one, but nothing Carol hasn't faced before. But this was no longer a fight. This was her way to show the Dark Knight that while everything started as business between the two, it had evolved into something more. She just hoped that the man would give her a chance to really show him her surging feelings.

"Thank for inviting me, Mr. Wayne" Carol Ferris stated, once again wearing an exotic dress. Only this time, it was a dark purple dress adorned with black trims at the end. She held the hand of Bruce Wayne, her mind admiring the billionaire who was also the hero Batman.

She had found out by accident. Coincidentally, it was all thanks to Damian Wayne when he was getting out of his controlled state after finishing their battle against Poison Ivy. She didn't believe it at first, but noticing the glare that the Dark Knight gave Robin was more than enough to confirm it for her.

From there on, she did everything she could to be affiliated with the man. She affiliated her company, Ferris Industries, with Batman's own, which was Wayne Enterprises. Both companies were already revolutionizing many projects, but this allowed Carol to be closer to Bruce Wayne.

"No problem at all, Ms. Ferris" She was actually surprised to see the man behind the mask act as a completely different person. She could definitely see some characteristics from Batman surging into Bruce's personality. But she could say without any doubt that she was way more attracted to Bruce Wayne than to Batman. "We, as owners of our respective companies, must show everyone that we agree with each other's mission to help society"

"Glad to see that we agree on it" She smiles, her lips noticeably twitching into a smirk. She fully enjoyed being with Bruce. It reminded her from her relationship with Hal Jordan, just how much chemistry they had. But she had been clouded by the illusion of the perfect man, that she didn't see Hal's true nature until it was too late. "So, care for a dance?"

"Of course" With that, both owners of respected industries walked to the dance floor, and began to move in rhythm with the slow dance. She softened her smile, reclining her head against the shoulder of the man. Her feelings had increased over the past month, and so did her powers as an effect of her love for him.

She removed her head from his shoulders, looking at him with a sincere expression on her face. She couldn't get the image of their kiss out of her mind, a vivid dream ever since she actually kissed him. Sure, while she was convinced, at that time, that she loved him, it was very far away from the truth.

Her need to find an attachment made her blind to true love. And while the surge of power she got that day was amazing, it quickly diminished in seconds after the fighting was actually over. It was because of it that she decided to be closer to the man, get to actually know him before getting attached.

"Bruce..." She whispered, saying his name for the first time during the gala created by both owners. She saw just how his eyes focused over her own, blue meeting each other as everything seemingly stopped for both of them. "I... I haven't forgotten our kiss" She neared her face to his own, her lips almost closing the distance between the two. She was so close yet, she knew that she needed to tell him her true feelings. "Can... Can I?"

She was answered when she felt him close the distance between the two, making her softly mewl into the kiss. She moved her arms to snake around his neck, their lips embracing each other as they ignored everything around them. She had been waiting for this moment ever since a month ago.

Their kiss was promptly interrupted when both heard whistles and catcalls from the others at the gala. She giggled softly as she relocated her arms to snake around Bruce's right arm. She was very happy, and her love for the Dark Knight only increased since the day she thought to be the last day she would ever feel love.
