Wondrous Love (Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman)

"I'm sorry it took me so long…" She whispered, her eyes staring at the two outfits in the mannequins. She did, however, concentrate her sight on one specifically. Her eyes resting over the black and gray outfit. Her heart clenched strongly just remembering to whom it belonged.

"I have no regrets, Diana" She, physically, did not react to the voice of Bruce appearing right behind her. She expected something like this from him, as a way to communicate beyond the grave. But her heart clenched in pain just by hearing the voice that had drawn her in many years ago. "I knew exactly how my story would end"

"Oh, Bruce…" She wanted to cry, even as she broke off the glass that protected the suit. She held the glass in her hands for the briefest of moments, a moment she used to glance at him. She could only see a blue spectral hologram of the man she had loved standing right next to her. "You're always several steps ahead of everyone else"

"I was never ahead, I just accepted the role I played in" She let go of the glass, her mind unable to comprehend any of his words. Was it because she was still hurting inside? She really did not have the answer to it. Because when she was not trying to save what little hope there was left, all she could do was remember the past.

"And what does that mean?" She questioned Bruce, her mind creating the ideal scenario for her. Creating an illusion of times where the two were alone and talking normally. But she knew that it had passed, that all the time she lost could never return. And it was because of it that she felt guilty, even if she lied to herself about it.

"I was less a player and more of a structural component" She did not want to believe his words. He was the person who always had a plan, the one who always managed to find another way. He was the man who had stolen her heart, the heart that she would never take back even after his death. "And at the end I questioned whether I was complicit in what transpired…"

She didn't want to believe that Bruce was just blaming himself for what happened. It was never his fault, he did everything he could to be able to save Gotham. It broke her heart knowing just how he felt during those times. Times where chaos started to spread and broke even the most hardened hero apart.

"You loved this city, Bruce…" She whispered, her eyes softening quite a bit. She had forgotten how it felt to talk with Bruce, her heart feeling relaxed just by being near him. The feeling he brought her was one she had locked away in the deepest parts of her heart. But even being close to someone that sounded like him was enough to bring them out.

"I did…" His simple answer made Diana remember just how much Bruce had sacrificed himself for Gotham. Bruises and scars he had gotten for Gotham, and she knew that he didn't care about it. It was his mission, his will. "To most, Gotham was a corrupt dump, but I never gave up" She watched just as the spectral hologram of the man she still loved looked at her. His eye even held the same care she had seen Bruce sent her once upon a time. It made her feel weak, the barriers crumbling down in seconds. "I don't believe in lost causes, Diana. We are instruments of changes. There is still time, and you are critical for the future"

"I'm struggling to even imagine a future at this point, Bruce…" She looked away, her eyes almost on the verge of tears. She couldn't imagine a future without him by her side, yet she was living a nightmare without him. It slowly broke her spirit to even continue going forward. Yet she kept on going, thinking that it was what Bruce would have told her to do.

"If there's even a single drop of goodness left, it's worth fighting for" She shivered as soon as she felt the coldness of his hand. It didn't feel the same, but still she couldn't help but want to be near him. "You've always been our heart" She couldn't hold it in any longer. Tears dripped down her cheeks as she just wanted to embrace him once again. To hold him in her arms again. "And that is what's most wonderful about you"

She wanted to say it. Her true feelings for him yet she knew that if she openly expressed her feelings, it would be worse for her. She wanted to maintain memories of the two together, when everything was perfect. She definitely did not want to remember his dismembered body. But just looking at the eyes of the spectral hologram was enough for her.

"Some things are worth dying for…" Her breath hitched, her eyes widening quite largely. Her tears began to drop faster, her eyes looking at the hologram of the man she loved in shock. She did not want to believe what he wanted to say with these words. She did not want to. "I love you, Diana. And I would die once again for you"

"B-Bruce…" She couldn't hold it in any longer. Her heart broke in two just getting the confirmation she feared to get. She was in despair, even if she was just letting her tears freefall to the ground. But she wanted to scream, to wail to the skies at the injustice that it was her life. "I-I love you too… I miss you every single day…"

But she received no response, letting herself drop down on her knees. She was all alone, yet she knew that he would always stand by her. She wiped away her tears, looking at the belt in the outfit of her beloved. Attaching the belt around her hips, she gave out a small hurt smile. She would always have a part of him with her, even if it was as simple as a belt. Because she held something else from him, and it was his love. Something that she would treasure for the rest of eternity.
