Flying Towards Tomorrow (Maxine Hunkel, aka Cyclone)

She landed softly on the roof of Wayne Enterprises, a soft smile over her face as she just looked at the night in wonder. It had been months since she had been trapped in the future, discovered by the Justice League of America. She was happy to know that their legacy had continued, even if the name was different.

"What a wonderful night" Maxine Hunkel, Justice Society of America member called Cyclone, just enjoyed her time watching the stars. It had been something she would often do now that she didn't have many of the things she would do. She didn't have to look back to realize someone was there, the sudden shift in the winds told her enough. "Don't you think, Bruce?"

"It is alright..." She closed her eyes momentaneously, only to open them just to see the man walking towards her. She was very grateful for the help she had gotten from the Justice League, especially from Bruce, who was the hero known as Batman. He had gone and made everything she needed to live comfortably in the future.

"You were pissed at me, weren't you?" Cyclone sighed, watching the moon as the clouds parted away. It was an amazing sight, just watching the beauty that the cosmos could create at night. She glanced at the man, who stayed quiet, knowing full well that the anger from before was because she got injured. She could definitely see that it was his way of worrying about others, a way to keep them at arm's reach and close at the same time.

"I wasn't" She chuckled slightly, knowing full well that it was a lie. She had to deal with Jason Garrick's excuses all the time, so it was easy to tell that the Dark Knight of Gotham City was lying. But she didn't dare tell it to his face. He probably had ways of explaining himself that would deter her from keep on asking.

"I see..." She just kept staring at the moon, slightly disappointed that clouds were slowly covering it from view. But it gave her time to really talk to the man next to her. "You know, I have seen that you are the kind of man who would put himself in danger" She whispered, loud enough for him to hear her. It really was not hidden much, even though she had seen many videos of Batman supposedly throwing himself into harm's way to protect anyone. "Even if you get burned..."

"I am a hero. Is what I do" She had already expected his short but direct answer, which made her look up once more towards the night sky. The moon was fully covered now, but she could definitely notice just how the clouds were moving away. "Is that a problem?"

"No..." It was now her time to be direct with her words, just telling him a simple word for his question. She would have added something more, but she knew that it would not matter at all. She could not control his life and the actions he may do along the way. "Is just..."

She, for once during their entire conversation, faced him and looked directly into his eyes. Onyx drew her closer, a sense of security entered her body as she just stared right at him. She loved feeling safe, even if she loved most of her life living on the edge of death.

She kissed him, her green painted lips smashing themselves against the rough lips of the Dark Knight. She even had to use her powers to be able to kiss him, the height difference being quite large. She had her eyes semi open, experiencing just how the moon shined upon them as they kissed. She melted right into the kiss once more, giving out a slight muffled moan in return.

She parted her lips from his own, the bridge between them slowly dispersing into nothingness. She just reclined her face against his own, enjoying the moment she currently had with him. She didn't know if she really did love the man, but she knew that her feelings were reacting the hardest when near him. And the kiss just made it harder for her to ignore it.

"I just don't want you to die..." She could see just how his eyes widened by centimeters, the fraction of the movement being noticeable because of the close proximity between the two. She didn't want anyone to die, but Bruce held a special place in her heart ever since he gave her everything. She enjoyed the moments they had together, but by far this was the best one she had thus far. "Promise it to me..."

She was shocked, feeling just how Bruce closed the distance between the two once again. The feeling between the two merging into one, as they let it all out with the moon and the stars as their only observants. She felt her heart skip a couple of beats as they continued with their kiss. An unspoken promise between the two of them was agreed on.

"I promise..." She smiled, the words she had been waiting for as they just relaxed against each other. A spoken and an unspoken promise, both meaning the same thing. Both of them needed to stay alive, as nothing would stand in their way. She knew that she had people probably worried for her back in the past, but there was nothing she could do now. She was in the future, which was now her present, and she hoped she could have a tomorrow with the man across from her.

"Thank you..." She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment. She didn't want to return to her time no longer, she had everything that she may need right here and now. A man that was very special to her heart was a man out of her time period. And she was not going to separate from him. That was a promise that she didn't have to say to see it true.
