Preparations And Realizations - Part 17

(Y/N) POV:

It was slowly getting closer, only about 3 weeks away to be exact. You grew more excited and less stressed as the days grew closer to the wedding day. Mostly everything was done preparation wise but there were still a few small details you wanted to add. You could tell that Ricky was getting more and more nervous. It kind of worried you a little bit, what if he just left you at the altar? Hopefully that won't happen.

You were currently driving back from your shop downtown. It had been another late night of working and Ricky wasn't there to help since he had band practice. The music from your car rang out into the night as you took the empty roads back home. Ricky was probably still going to be up but you weren't going to be surprised if he wasn't.

You pulled into the driveway and parked your car in the garage before getting out and walking into the house. It was quiet in the house except for the TV that was on in the living room. Ricky was probably up watching TV waiting for you to join him.

"Hey babe I'm ho-" You walked into the living room only to be met with Ricky curled up in a ball on one side of the couch, asleep. He must have had a long day at practice. It was cute seeing how tired he was. He normally always went to bed if he was tired but he must have been extra tired today.

You smiled and quietly walked past and into the bedroom trying not to wake him up. He probably needed the rest more than anything right now. You grabbed a tank top and shorts and quickly changed into them and out of your work clothes. It wasn't too bad at the shop today, mostly just the regular people came in, but it was still super busy. You threw your hair up into a messy bun and walked back out and into the living room. After all, Ricky deserved a cuddle buddy.

You smiled and slowly sat down on the couch. The blanket that normally was on the couch was already wrapped around Ricky which you gladly got under next to him. You wrapped your arms around Ricky and laid your head on his arm. He shifted as he felt your arms around his torso. Ricky seemed a little more stressed than normal. Was there something he wasn't telling you? Or was he really just that stressed about the wedding? Whatever it was you were definitely going to have to ask him about later.

Ricky slowly began to wake up from the sudden touch of you wrapping your arms around him. It was clear that he was super tired. He never fell asleep on the couch like this. As he woke back up and returned from reality, he moved his arm and rested it on your back. You smiled up at him as he rubbed his eyes still trying to wake up.

"Hey when did you get home?" He yawned and looked down at you with a small smile spread across his face.

"Eh maybe 20 minutes ago." You smiled and looked back up at him meeting his eyes.

"How long have I been asleep?' He laughed and pushed himself up so he was sitting up on the couch properly now.

"Well at least since I got home." You sat up with him still sharing the blanket between the two of you. "Did band practice kick your ass or something?"

"Yeah kind of I guess." He yawned again and leaned his head on his hand.

"Well come on mister sleepy head." You got up from the couch and put your hands in Ricky's trying to pull him up off the couch. He finally gave in and laughed standing up. You were getting pretty tired yourself so you were excited to finally get into a nice soft bed.

Ricky followed you into the bedroom and changed into his pajamas instead of the skinny jeans he was in before. You walked into the bathroom and quickly brushed your teeth getting ready for bed. By the time you finished brushing your teeth, Ricky was already in bed and on his phone waiting for you. You smiled and set your phone on the nightstand before crawling in bed next to him. The both of you said your I love yous and good nights before completely passing out.

Ricky's POV:

It was blatantly obvious that (Y/N) and I were both extremely tired last night. I had apparently fallen asleep on the couch and (Y/N) was just about to fall asleep next to me. Thankfully we both made it to our nice warm bed. Normally I made it to our bed but I have been so tired lately from over practicing on something that just needed to be perfect.

I woke up before (Y/N) did, probably because I had already been asleep when she got home the night before. It was a long band practice last night but little did (Y/N) know, it was all just planning for the wedding. Last minute, I decided that I wanted to come up with something that I could sign and play at the wedding that would be special for both of us. Chris had suggested I play eternally yours. I honestly thought this was a really good idea, so we spent the whole time practicing that song so I could play it perfectly.

When I had gotten back from band practice, she was still passed out when I got up so I decided to just let her sleep. I got up and, without even taking off my pajamas, made my way to the kitchen to fix breakfast. (Y/N) had the day off today, so why not make her breakfast in bed.

The wedding was only 3 weeks away and the pressure was definitely hitting me. It wasn't the fact that I wasn't ready to get married, It was the fact that this was a huge commitment we were both making. At the end of the day I really didn't want to have to pay for a divorce so I just really had to put all my hope in that (Y/N) was just as ready as I was.

I started making pancakes, I never was a really good cook but it was something nice that I wanted to do for (Y/N). As I continued to make breakfast, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my torso.

"Morning." (Y/N) mumbled into my back, clearly still tired. Well there goes the breakfast in bed idea. However I did ruin her surprise party so this kind of made us even in a way.

"Someone sounds tired." I laughed and flipped one of the pancakes. She laid her head against my back before speaking again.

"Damn right I am." She yawned while trying to speak at the same time. I let out a small laugh before flipping another pancake. "Whatever your making smells good though so hurry up." She laughed and let go of me to sit at the table.

After getting a few good pancakes done, I put them on a plate and handed it to her. I then proceeded to make my own plate and sit down next to her. It was cute how I had syrup all over mine and she had fruit all over hers. That was just one of the many things that made us two different people.

"So how much of the wedding planning do you have done?" I questioned taking a bite. She was really the main person planning it all out and I was only here helping as much as I could.

"Yeah I just have a few more things to make and then it should be all done." She smiled and took a bite of her pancake. "Oh yeah I do need you to do me a favor and go to the store and grab a few things that we don't have." She smiled even more sweetly at me.

"Alright fine but only because I love you." We both laughed and got up putting our dirty plates in the sink.

"Thank you I'll write you out a list right now." She turned and gave me a quick kiss before running off to go and get a piece of paper to write the list on.

I made my way over to the bedroom and pulled on a new pair of clothes. I didn't have band practice or anything today which was nice. It very rarely worked out where the two of us didn't have work on the same day. That's why I always wanted to help (Y/N) in the shop as much as I could.

"Hey here's the list." She walked in, still in her pajamas and a messy bun, looking gorgeous as always.

"Thanks i'll be back asap." I gave her a small kiss before walking out of the house and over to my car.

(Y/N) POV:

Ricky had gone to the store and now it was only you left. Your main goal today was to finish the flower decorations you had yet to finish. There were a bunch that needed to be completed since they were going to be sat at each table during the reception.

You pulled out your hot glue gun and began to hot glue each flower together. Knowing you however. It didn't last long before you were running to the sink cursing at how bad the burning glue hurt. You were always kind of an accident prone person but that of course didn't make the pain stop. The cold water cooled the hot glue enough to where you could peel it off your finger, however left in its place was a big blister. Great just what you needed right now.

You continued to make flower bundle after flower bundle after flower bundle. You mind drifted to Ricky, wondering if he was really ready to commit to you for life, after all being married meant a lot, or at least to you it did.

You had always wanted to get married only once. You didn't want to have your marriage break up after a few months or even years. That was going to hurt you way too much. You knew you were ready to make the commitment, but was Ricky? Maybe he was and you were just over thinking, to be fair you did that a lot.

You continued to make the flower bouquets as your thoughts overflowed in your head. Oh shit! You still had to write your wedding vows! That was something you were going to have to focus on for a few days before writing out. You wanted it to be perfect especially since you would have to say them in front of everyone.

"I wonder if Ricky wrote his?" You spoke out loud and as if almost on cue, Ricky walked right through the door, a ton of bag in his hands.

"Hey hot stuff you're finally back!" You smiled at him and glued the last flowers together.

"Yep and I got you your favorite!" He smiled and held out ice cream from your favorite shop. He really did know the way to your heart.

"You're the best you know that?" You smiled and took the ice cream taking a big bite out of it as Ricky laughed at you.

"Oh and the store that you wanted me to pick up the wedding invitations from had them ready." Your eyes lit up seeing Ricky holding the package you've waited so long to get. You decided to get special cards made and the last time you went to the store to get them, they weren't ready yet.

"YES!" You set the ice cream down and grabbed the package from his hand. "Have you seen them yet?"

Ricky shook his head no and you smiled opening the package. You really hoped he liked him, you were the one who created them so if he didn't like them it would be a let down. He smiled at you as you handed him one of the cards. It had a cute picture of Ricky and you on the front and the wedding date in fancy letters on the bottom. You loved them! They turned out perfect!

You scanned Ricky's face for an answer as he looked the card over. After a minute, he smiled and wiped a tear off of his cheek. He for once was showing the softer side of him. You walked over and wrapped your arms around him giving him a deep kiss. Ricky smiled into the kiss and pulled you closer to him. After a minute, he pulled away and looked down at you.

"They look amazing.......thank you." You smiled and booped him on his nose.

"You don't have to say thank you for them silly." You both laughed at one another.

"I didn't mean for the cards hun, I meant for saying yes to marrying me....." Ricky locked eye contact with you and you could tell how much this really meant to him. You smiled back up at him, this really did give you the reassurance you needed that he was ready to be committed to you for the rest of your lives.

"Well mister Olson thank you for popping the question to me." You poked his sides and watched as he squirmed trying to get away. This new softer side of Ricky was definitely something you liked, He didn't always need to be so emotionless and you were happy to be seeing this side of him.

"Oh yeah also we need to write our vows." He laughed and nodded. They were going to have to get done sooner or later.

"Okay but the couch is getting lonely so why don't we sit down and just chill out on this day off that we have." Ricky laughed and picked you up carrying you to the couch.

You sat down and Ricky sat next to you putting his arm around your shoulder. You could honestly say that you were ready to get married and you felt that Ricky felt the same way. You had both come so far from the beginning. You were supposed to only be his roommate, but now you're getting married to him in less than a month. Maybe craigslist wasn't so bad after all.

Ricky smiled down at you and you gladly responded with a smile of your own. You cuddled into his side and watched the movie that was currently playing on the TV. In less than a month you were going to be married to the man of your dreams, and that day couldn't come soon enough for you.
