A Not So Perfect Upbringing - Part 6

(Y/N) POV:

You groaned and buried your head into the palms of your hands as you looked over another merch idea that you sketched out. It just wasn't coming out how you were hoping it would and it was getting frustrating. The shop was super slow again today so you figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some more merch ideas out onto paper. Ricky had another studio day but said he would try and stop by once they were finished if it wasn't too late.

You were sitting in the same exact place that Ricky had confessed his love for you. You and Ricky had been officially together for just over a week now and it was going so good! Ricky was seriously the perfect guy for you in every way possible! You smiled as you continued to sketch out another idea for a hoodie, only to be interpreted by the buzzing of your cell phone. The phone lit up showing a cute picture of you and Ricky kissing, you had set this as your background to remember how much you loved him. Your phone also had a new text notification, of course it was from Ricky.

"Hey I'm on my way to the shop now, we got done early because Chris got fed up with his vocals again." Finally you were going to get some company around here.

"Thank the lord, I think if I have to be alone in this place any longer I'm going to actually go insane." You knew Ricky would laugh at that.

You quickly cleaned up some of the random paper balls that were scattered around the table and threw them in the trash. The shop was still bare so you decided to run to the bathroom quickly to make sure you looked good for when Ricky showed up.

Your reflection appeared in the mirror before you, you always hated how you looked. Maybe you were just being too hard on yourself, but for some reason you could always pick out at least one other person who was prettier than you. Sometimes your mind drifted, wondering why Ricky thought you were so pretty. However you just pushed these thoughts away and out of your head before they went too far.

The lip gloss you had been wearing had begun to disappear, so you quickly fixed that and straightened out the black shirt and ripped jeans you decided to wear along with one of Ricky's beanies that you stole from him. You took one last look at yourself in the mirror before you heard the shop's bell ring. The smile that had been slowly forming on your face grew bigger as you heard the door shut. You ran out of the bathroom and back up to the front, only to realize it was just a normal customer. The smile that was spread across your face, now became a frown as you watch the customer browse the shop.

God you just wanted to see Ricky again. While the customer browsed, you went back to fixing a few parts of the sketch. All of a sudden the bell above the shop's door rang once again. Your head shot over to the door only to see your boyfriend walk right through. Your face lit up and you were ecstatic! You could barely contain your excitement as he made his way over to you. As soon as he got behind the counter, you ran over to him and hugged him tightly.

"God I missed you so much." He hugged you, wrapping his arms around your torso as you buried your face into his shirt. You breathed in deep, his scent was so calming to you. This is where you're supposed to be, and you're safe with him. You stayed like this enjoying the calming effect your boyfriends arms had around you before you could hear the customer awing at you from the other side of the counter. Ricky looked at you and laughed.

"You should probably help them." He laughed and whispered. You laughed back and nodded, turning to face the customer. Ricky stood next to you putting his arm around your shoulder.

"Sorry, what can I help you with today?" To your surprise it was an older lady, she reminded you of your grandma. Very few old people came into your shop as they clearly didn't understand your type of style.

"Well I must start off by saying you two are the cutest, most in love people I've seen in awhile." You looked up at Ricky. He gave you a small smile and squeezed your arm tightly.

"Thank you for such kind words" You smiled at the old lady, her words really touching your heart.

"Oh you don't have to thank me dear, However I would like to get a gift card for my granddaughter, she loves your shop a lot" She smiled pulling a 20 dollar bill out from her purse. You greatly accepted the money and grabbed a gift card ringing it up.

"Listen here sonny, you got such a beautiful girl here, so don't you mess this up. I see how she looks at you with pure love in her eyes." You blushed as the old woman laid into Ricky.

"Oh I assure you ma'am i'm taking good care of her." He smiled and pulled you into a side hug. You laughed handing the woman her gift card.

"Don't you forget to get her home in time either." The woman laughed and walked out of the shop and over to her car.

"She reminds me of my grandma" You laughed and wrapped your arms back around Ricky looking up at him.

"Awwwe, You know you've never really told me too much about your family..... I know you said you only have a few cousins and aunts left but what happened to everyone else?"' You sighed. This was going to happen eventually and you knew that, Ricky was just curious and he had every right to be.

"Umm can we talk about that later.....sorry I just really don't feel like crying while i'm still on the clock...." He nodded which you were grateful for, He understood that you needed time.

Ricky's POV:

"RICKY I SWEAR!!!" (Y/N) and I were mopping the floors of the shop so we could finally leave and go home. Sure I may have been having a little too much fun by sliding around on the wet floor, causing me to bump into her while she mopped, but I could tell we were both having fun.

"YOU LOVE ME AND YOU KNOW IT!" I laughed, sliding into her again. This time when I did though, I accidentally made her slip too.

"RICKY!" I quickly caught her before she hit the floor. Good save Rick. She grabbed onto me breathing heavily, clearly afraid that she was still going to fall. I looked down and gave her a quick kiss.

"You go draw, and I'll finish up mopping okay?" she nodded and walked behind the counter after handing me the mop. Before I knew it she was back into the world of drawing. I occasionally looked over, watching how invested she was into drawing what she was. God she made my heart beat faster every time I looked at her. I smiled to myself and continued to mop the floors of the shop.

"Hey, what do you think about this?" She held up a drawing of a skull with roses around it. It was amazing! How could someone be so good at something like this?

"I love it! I especially love how detailed the flowers are around it" I smiled, awestruck at the paper she held in her hands.

"Thanks......roses are my favorite flower." Great now I can buy her flowers and get the kind she really likes.

"Of course, So is that for merch?" I went back to mopping up the spaces that I missed.

"Unless you want to get it tattooed....." she mumbled loud enough for me to hear.

"Really? Because if you're serious I would love to get it tattooed......" I looked over at her at the same time she looked at me. Her face lit up and I couldn't do anything but laugh. I had been wanting to get a new tattoo for a while now anyway and her art was so amazing. I know getting a couples tattoo is bad luck, but was it really a couples tattoo if she didn't get one?

I finally finished up the mopping and put everything away as (Y/N) continued to draw. I walked over and slowly wrapped my arms around her.

"You ready to go babe?" She nodded and yawned, clearly tired from another long shift. I helped her clean up her art supplies and carried it out to my car. We knew I would be coming to the shop after practice so we decided I could drive her to the shop this morning, that way we would only have to take one car back home. I was eager to get back home so that I could finally learn more about (Y/N)s family. She had told me some things about them, but she never really told me that much. I know her brother isn't alive anymore, but what about her parents? I wasn't going to push her on anything, but my curiosity was killing me here.

--------------------

(Y/N) POV:

"So....what do you wanna know?" You sat down in Ricky's lap on the couch nibbling on a leftover piece of a bread stick from dinner. You  trusted him enough to the point where you felt comfortable explaining your family to him. It of course wasn't normal and you just had a hard time talking about it. You laid your head on his shoulder as he set his hand on your back.

"Hmm well what about your mom?" Your mom wasn't a big touchy subject for you. She died when you were young and you really didn't remember much about it or even her for that matter.

"She died when I was 7 from cancer, I don't really remember much about her. She was a good mom from what memories my mind holds onto." Ricky nodded understanding.

"So what about your dad then." Now this was something you had a harder time talking about. As you began to remember the good memories you had with your dad, you got more and more choked up. He was there for you through thick and thin. Sure he didn't agree with some of the things you did, like going to art school, but you were always his little girl.

"H-He..." You started, your voice already getting shaky, "He died 2 years ago because of a heart attack.....he was my biggest supporter and was there for me no matter what...." You sniffled and Ricky pulled you into his chest more. You quickly wiped away a tear hoping Ricky wouldn't notice.

"Well what about your brother then....." This hit you like a ton of bricks. You haven't told anyone about your brother since he passed away just a few months ago. He was your best friend. No one could ever replace the bond you had with him. He was always there to help you, especially after you begged him to let you move in with him after your ex kicked you out of your old home. You showed up on his doorstep in tears and he welcomed you in with open arms.

"H-He was my b-best friend......" You looked up into your boyfriend's eyes. "I miss him Ricky...." Ricky could feel his heart breaking for you. Even though you didn't tell him much about your brother, he could tell you had a special bond with him that no one could ever replace.

"I know you do baby" he sighed and wiped your tears as they fell onto his sweater. "But hey, he wouldn't want you to be sad, he would want you to continue on with your life and be the best damn art student you can be." Rickey smiled softly looking into your eyes. You wiped the final tears away and cuddled back into his chest. You listened to his heart beat, slowly closing your eyes as he played with your hair.

"Well hey at least I have you......right?" You opened your eyes back up and looked up into his crystal blue ones.

"Of course, you'll always have me." He gave a comforting smile. You got up and moved your body so you were now sitting in his lap. Ricky wrapped his arms around your back as you wrapped yours around his neck.

".......Promise?" You asked in an unsure tone.

"Promise." and with that you closed the distance between you and Ricky by smashing your lips against his. He smiled into the kiss and pulled you closer to him so your bodies were now touching. You ran your fingers through his long black hair, deepening the kiss. He licked your bottom lip begging for entrance. But you weren't going to give in that easy. You fought with him for dominance, You ended up losing anyway but it was worth a shot. You melted into the kiss as Ricky explored. His lips were so soft against yours, and not to mention how good of a kisser he was. He really knows how to let you enjoy the moment, Nobody had ever treated you like this before, and you were loving every second of it.

Ricky ran his hands up to your hair feeling just how soft it was. He loved the smell of your shampoo and was thoroughly enjoying how soft it made your hair. You always made sure to take good care of your body, it was something you had pride in. You pulled away from the kiss breathless, Ricky did the same. You smiled at him, He just pulled you into another hug laughing.

"You know (Y/N), you make me feel a certain type of way.." You laughed as he rubbed your back.

"Right back at you." You smiled and looked back up at him. You were ready for this to become your new normal, you never wanted moments like these to end. He made you happier than any of your exes have or could have for that matter.

"Oh yeah are you willing to go to an award show with me on Friday?" You sat back up into his lap.

"Yeah that should be fine, i'll just close the shop for the day then...... However you have to go dress shopping with me then." He rolled his eyes and smiled.

"Well you have yourself a deal there Missy. I will warn you though.....The guys have been dying to finally meet you...." You haven't met Ricky's band yet, well you met Chris but that really wasn't a formal introduction. The more you thought about it, the more nervous you got. These guys were your boyfriends best friends.....what if they didn't like you?

"What if they don't like me Ricky...." You spoke suddenly.

"They'll love you Hun, and if they don't......well too bad because i'm not breaking up with you." He smiled at you and you nodded understanding. It was getting pretty late and you were starting to get tired, you probably just weren't thinking right anyway......
