A Not So Romantic Way Of Doing Things - Part 11

(Y/N) POV:

Okay maybe this whole Ricky on tour thing wasn't the worst thing in the world.... Oh who were you kidding, it was horrible! However he was finally coming home today after he played his last show. The shop was super busy yesterday like you had thought it would be so that took your mind off of things for a while. You still missed Ricky like crazy though. The thought of just being back in his arms made your stomach erupt with butterflies.

You were currently at the shop, It had been another decently busy day and you were ready to go home already but your shift didn't end for another few hours yet. Ricky had been texting you back and forth and should finally be home later tonight around 12 am. You had planned on being able to get off of work at 9 pm to have enough time to clean the house and make Ricky a sweet little dinner.  He deserved it, after all he had spent the past 3 days on tour and was probably missing the food you made.

The shop was littered with people, mainly people who reflected your same style. As you were starting off, looking downtown through the open door from behind the counter, A boy and his friends walked up to you. He looked no older than maybe 17, however you were bad at placing ages on people so he really could have been 25 for all you knew.

"What can I do for you today?" You smiled and greeted him sweetly like you did to everyone else.

"More like can I do you?" He smirked acting like he was so clever, yep he was definitely 17.

"Well considering I have a boyfriend and I don't sleep with customers, why don't you go find someone else to be your fuck buddy." You gave him a cocky smile. You never liked to be hit on by guys, even when you weren't in a relationship. It just made you feel even more self conscious then you already were.

The boy and his friends quickly left the shop laughing at the kid who you just shot down. If Ricky had heard what the boy had said, he would have definitely had a huge fit over it. Ricky loved you a lot and was not okay with the idea of others hitting on you. You found this cute, he was very protective over you and you loved it.

The time seemed to be ticking slower and slower. You really just wanted to go home, but it was only 3 pm so that decision was a no go. Maybe Ricky finally texted you back? You sent him a message a few hours ago saying how much you missed him and just giving him an update on how the shop was running today, but the last time you checked he hadn't even opened the message. You checked your phone again and just like before, he still hasn't opened it.

You let out a sigh, Maybe he was just busy playing on stage? Who knew, you just really wanted to hear from him again. In the meantime you decided to clean up the shop. You walked out from behind the counter and straightened some shirts and restocked a few things. Everyone the was once in the shop had now left and it was just you all alone.

This quickly changed as a young girl, maybe the age of 5, ran into the shop. You looked over startled at the sudden footsteps, she was a cute little blonde girl with her hair in two long pigtails with a cute little pink dress on. She was clearly crying and scared as you came closer to her.

"Hey sweetie....." You started out softly not really knowing what to say. "Are you okay? You look a little scared..." she nodded and wiped her eyes.

"I can't find my mommy or daddy...." She sniffled. You remembered seeing her in the shop a little while ago. "Mommy always says that if I get lost to go and get help from someone...."

"Aww sweetie it's okay come here." You knelt down and opened your arms which she gladly ran into. "Do you know your Mommy or Daddy's phone number?" You questioned her but she just laid her head on your shoulder and shook her head no.

"Who's that?" You heard the little girl whisper in your ear as you slowly stood up putting her on your hip. It was only you in the shop and no one ever came in the back door so who was she talking about? You slowly turned your body around and was met with someone you didn't think you would see in the shop.

"......Ricky!"

Ricky's POV:

"Ricky!" Well (Y/N) was clearly glad to see me!

We had played our last show earlier in the day and got the chance to come home early, which I gladly took advantage of. I decided on the plane that I would go and visit (Y/N) at the shop, plus there was something I really needed to ask her. Yeah I could have waited to ask her until she got home but honestly I didn't have the patience to wait.

However as I walked in the back door of the shop, (Y/N) was hugging and talking to a little girl who I didn't recognize at all, which was weird. I had never seen (Y/N) with kids before so this was definitely a different sight to see.

"Hey!" I smiled and waved a little, "We got the chance to come home early so I took it." I laughed as I watched her face light up with joy. "So who's this new little friend you got here?" I winked at the cute little girl which made her giggle while she wiped her tears.

"Well she says she lost and she can't remember her Mom or Dad's phone number." I nodded listening to what (Y/N) had to say.

"Hmm, well what's your name sweet heart?" I walked closer to the both of them.

"Scarlet....." The little girl trailed off and spoke shyly.

"Well I promise you that we will find your mom and dad okay?" She nodded slowly, setting her head back down on (Y/N)'s chest.

"Come on I have some things you can color with." (Y/N) smiled and walked behind the counter setting scarlet down on the counter, giving her a few markers and paper from her sketchbook.

I moved behind the counter standing next to my girlfriend watching what they were drawing. (Y/N) would draw out a small outline and Scarlet would fill it in with whatever colors she wanted. It was cute watching them and until this point I never really realized how good (Y/N) was with kids.

"Hey Ricky, would you mind going out to try and find her parents?" I heard (Y/N) whisper to me as Scarlet colored. I smiled and nodded happily to help with whatever I could.

Both (Y/N) and Scarlet kept on drawing and giggling as I walked out of the shop to try and find her parents. Who just goes and loses their child? Yeah sure some parents just lose sight of them and they run off but if I ever have kids I definitely will not let them get lost.

I walked downtown a bit trying to find Scarlet's parents but once again I had no luck. It was starting to get a little later out and there was definitely a small breeze. I didn't mind this though, It was nice to feel considering it was a hot summer night. I slowly walked back to the shop letting myself be in my thoughts for a small bit. Was I really going to be able to pull off the big idea I had planned? I really hoped so.

"Excuse me sir!" A distraught man and woman ran up to me, breaking me from mu thoughts.

"Do you know where our daughter is? Her name is scarlet have you seen her?" Ah these must be Scarlet's parents.

"Yeah she's actually with my girlfriend at our shop, I was actually looking for you guys." I laughed and rubbed the back of my neck.

"Oh thank you so much!" I watched the looks on their faces go from stress to relief.

"No problem." I laughed again and began walking in the shop's direction. "Here just follow me."

Scarlet's parents walked with me all the way back to the shop. When I walked inside I was met with (Y/N) and the little girl both still coloring and enjoying the presence of one another. My heart melted seeing this, maybe someday (Y/N) and I would have kids of our own. It was nice to know she was so good with kids if we ever did have some of our own.

"Hey Scarlet I found your parents!" Both Scarlet and (Y/N) looked up into my direction as the girl's parents walked in.

"Oh Scarlet honey!" The mom rushed over and picked up her child. I walked back behind the counter and put my arm around (Y/N).

"Thank you guys so much, here go enjoy a nice dinner with us tonight." The dad smiled and handed me a 20 dollar bill.

"Hey no problem she really is a joy to be around, and here she colored these." (Y/N) laughed and handed Scarlet's father the papers she had colored on, which he gladly took.

Scarlet said goodbye to the two of us before her and her parents walked out. It was nice to see that she was safe and going home to her parents, and hey now both of us could go out to dinner tonight too. (Y/N) turned to me and before I could even spit out a few words our lips were already pressed together. I quickly deepened the kiss, I had forgotten how much I loved the feeling of her lips on mine. We stayed like this, enjoying the moment together, until (Y/N) pulled away for air.

"I missed you so much you don't even know Ricky." She smiled looking up at me and I could tell that she really truly meant that. It had definitely been hard to be away from her for the 3 days that I was on tour and I was so glad to just be in her presence again.

"I missed you more than you even know." I looked down and gave her another small kiss. "......There's something we need to talk about though..."

(Y/N) POV:

"......There's something we need to talk about though..."

What the hell did that mean? Was he going to break up with you? Did he cheat on you while he was again? What did the two of you need to talk about?

"O-Okay?" You asked unsurely. You really didn't know what he was going to say but you knew it probably wasn't good.

"Listen (Y/N), I love you a lot.....and uh um...." He began to stutter and stumble over his words. Ricky almost looked stressed out to you and he was never really stressed!

"Hey, baby its okay." You reached your arm out and grabbed his hand with yours. He nodded and you could see the stress leave his face.

"Fuck it." You looked at him confused as he laughed. All of a sudden Ricky took a step back and got down on one knee. Holy shit was he proposing to you right now?!?!

"Look I know we've been together less than 2 months but I'm ready to take the next step and whatever happens I know we can get through it together, so (Y/N) will you marry me?" You sniffled and wiped a tear.

"YES! Now get up here and kiss me!" You laughed and wiped another tear as Ricky got up from the ground and picked you up so your feet were off the ground. He pressed his lips against yours as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You let the kiss continue for a moment before you pulled away and Ricky set you back down.

You watched as Ricky slid the small silver and black engagement ring onto your finger. You watched as it sparkled in the lights of the shop. Holy shit you were getting married! And to the person who was just supposed to be your roommate! You really believed that things happen for a reason, and this was just another one of those things.

"I know it's not the most romantic place to ask you but I thought this spot was special since we both confessed our love to one another here." Ricky smiled at you and pulled you into a hug.

You had always wanted a cute wedding with your love someday. It didn't really matter how the person had popped the question to you, at the end of the day it was really just a question after all. You found it cute that Ricky planned it out like this though. He had been so sweet in his little speech too. This just gave you even more reasons to love him and marry him.

"I love you so much thank you!" You both laughed and looked at the ring. You could tell that he bought it with the necklace and earrings you wore almost every day since it matched almost perfectly. It fit your finger perfectly and it made your hand look so much better. You slowly looked up at Ricky and he smiled back down at you.

"Why don't we go celebrate at the first place we ever went out on a date." You smiled and nodded at Ricky's idea.

"Just let me clean up the shop really quick and I'll close early." He nodded and walked over grabbing the broom to help you. It was official, you were now Ricky's fiancé and you couldn't be anymore happy about it.

--------------------

After cleaning up and locking the shop up. You and Ricky walked to the small diner that you had gone to on your first unofficial date. However this time instead of sitting on two opposite sides, Ricky sat with you on the same side with his arm around you. You leaned your head into his shoulder staring at the ring on your finger while you waited for the food.

"Hey let me take a picture." Ricky grabbed your hand in his before taking the picture of the tow of your hands.

"Let me guess, the guys group chat?" You laughed and looked at his phone as he sent the picture.

"Yeah, they kind helped me plan it all out and they wanted to see proof because they were almost 100% sure I was going to chicken out." Ricky laughed at this just as the food came out.

"So are you ready to be stuck with me and only me for the rest of your life?" You laughed and ate a fry.

"Of course I am!" Ricky smiled and took a fry for himself.

"Well if you're ready then I'm ready too." You smiled and stole his fry eating it. He laughed and kissed you on the side of the head. You were really ready to settle down with Ricky, after all he was definitely the love of your life.

"I love you (Y/N)"

"I love you too Ricky"

And with that you went on and enjoyed the post proposal dinner, thanks to Scarlet's parents.
