Chapter18: Clowns

For the first time since he became Batman he didn't know what to do. Should he call Clark? Tell her parents? Talk to Gordon? He was racking his brain for answers but the only thing he could think of was how scared she must be. He looked back at the blood drying on his glove then realized he needed to stop wasting time and bring her back to him.

After the men were gone she set her plan in motion. First she needed to save the children. There was no way she was going to leave them there with him. She wanted to see just how many children were there so she asked. She concluded that there must have been at least 15. There were a few teens but the rest were all children. She wanted to know what they wanted with all of them.

Lucy:"Does anyone know how they got here?"

An older boy in the cell next to hers answered.

Boy:"They broke into my house and took me while I was asleep."

Lucy:"What's your name?"

Boy:"James. James Montana."

The name sounded familiar but she didn't know.

Lucy:"James, who is your father?"

James:"Bill Montana."

She differently knew that name. His family owned one of the biggest pet food chains in all of Gotham. Her father always invited them to their parties.

Lucy:"Anyone else?

Next a little girl answered.

Katie:"My name's Katie, they pulled me into a van while I was shopping with the house maid."

The last one to answer was an older boy named Billy.

Billy:"My dad is a surgeon. Why do you think they're doing this?"

She differently knew what this was about now.

Lucy:"For ransom."

But what does Joker want with money? She wanted to relax knowing the only thing they wanted was money but she couldn't. Not with Joker involved.

First he called Clark. He met him at the cave and they shared whatever information they had on the kidnappers.

Superman:"So far that's all I know."

Batman:"I wish I knew when she was taken."

At this moment Alfred was bringing down refreshments.

Alfred:"Why don't you check the cameras we installed last month?"

Superman:"You've been spying on her."

Batman:"Relax, I only put them in the living room. And the front of the building."

He pulled up the feed and played it back until he saw something. The whole think only took 12 minutes. He was glad to see her fight back. After they knocked her out the taped her hands together. One of the men threw her over his shoulder and walked out of the building. No one was around so he couldn't ask anyone. How was he going to find who had taken her? For a moment he lost hope then he noticed the man's faces were painted like clowns.

Batman:"Joker."

Sorry about the wait guys. I'll try to update faster. I know not a lot happened but that's because I'm thinking of ending this book soon so I'm trying to prolong it. Thanks again.
