Chapter16: Some alone time

Batman ran as fast as he could and Superman flew right behind him. As they approached her door the screams got louder so Batman ran faster. They turned a corner and were shocked to see that the screaming wasn't coming from Lucy's apartment but from in front of her apartment. A man was trying to mug an older lady so they stopped him. Batman was apprehending him while Superman helped her off the ground and walked her to her apartment, which was just around the corner from Lucy's. He stood up when he heard the click of a door. As soon as he turned his head to see what it was something hit him in the stomach. He looked down to see brown hair. Her arms were wrapped tightly around his abdomen. He didn't know what to do so he stood there confused. She quickly let go once she realized what she was doing and stepped back into her apartment.

Lucy:"Sorry. I was just um..."

Sara came to the door not long after and she stared at him in awe.

Sara:"So you are real?"

Lucy:"Is that the man?"

She pointed to the man sitting on the floor.

Sara:"We called the cops but they wouldn't have gotten here in time anyway."

Superman:"Batman I walked her to her apart-"

When he turned the corner they all stopped and stared at each other. Sara realized what was going on so she spoke.

Sara:"You're Superman right?"

He nodded.

Sara:"Well that was kind of you. You wouldn't mind walking me to my cab would you?"

He smiled.

Superman:"Of course not."

As she walked pass Lucy she whispered.

Sara:"I'll give you some alone time."

She grabbed Superman's arm and left. After they were gone the two of them stood there in silence. Batman keeled down and pulled the man to his feet.

Lucy:"I um haven't seen you in a while."

Batman:"That's a good thing."

Lucy:"Really?"

Batman:"It means you've been staying out of trouble."

He gave her a little smile and her heart melted.

Lucy:"I wanted to ask you something for a long t-

Batman:"Maybe you should take care of that first."

He pointed to her stove. So she ran to turn off the cookies she and Sara were making. She returned to find the hallway empty so she closed the door and decided to go to bed.

As Batman got to the front steps of the building the cops were just pulling up and Sara was just leaving. Superman waved goodbye and walked over to Batman.

Superman:"Greez that women can talk."

Batman:"I know she works for me."

He handed the man over to the police and walked away.

Superman:"Where are you going."

Batman:"Home."

Superman:"What about Lucy?"

Batman:"I told you she'll be fine."

After Batman was gone she went to get ready for bed. As she took off her dress she noticed a smell that wasn't her own. She sniffed it harder, 'Bruce?' But that didn't make any sense. Why did it smell like Bruce when she hugged Batman. Then it dawned on her.

A week had gone by and nothing exciting happened. Bruce did his best to stay away from Lucy he thought of apologizing for what happened at the party but Sara informed him that Lucy was still mad so he gave her some time.

On Friday he sat in his office filling out paper work all morning. He rubbed the tried out of his eyes and walked over to his door and locked it. He then made a call to Alfred, they spoke about the recent kidnappings in Gotham.

Not long after he realized he needed Lucy to reschedule a meeting he had, but he hadn't seen her all day so he went to find her. First he checked Sara's office but neither of them were there. So he headed downstairs where he found Sara talking to Justin.

Bruce:"Sara we need to talk."

She excused herself.

Bruce:"Where's Lucy?"

Sara:"I was asking Justin the same thing."

Bruce:"You haven't seen her all morning?"

Sara:"I called her when I noticed she was late but she didn't answer."

He walked fast to the font doors.

Sara:"Bruce!?"

Bruce:"Tell everyone to go home."

He drove as fast as he could to her apartment, he had considered going home to change first but decided against it. Once he got there he ran to her apartment and banged on the door.

Bruce:"Lucy!"

No answer. So he did it again, still no answer. He grabbed the knob and turned it. Her apartment looked like it had been robbed. He ran from room to room calling her name but she wasn't there. His palms were sweaty and his heart was racing. He began to look for signs of forced entry but didn't find anything. Then he noticed something on the floor, he moved over to it and rubbed it.

Bruce:"Blood?"

Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll be able to update really soon.
