chapter 4 - Condition Terminal

From 5.03 "Dream Catchers", in the clinic, Tracy's skin broke apart, releasing black blood that splattered over them all. A tail sprung out of Tracy's back, slapping Stiles, slicing into his chest, making him fall to the floor. Tracy stood on the table, using her tail to slice into Deaton, making him fall to the floor. She spun around, using her tail to slice into Tara, making her fall to the floor. She used her tail to slice into Stacie's cheek, making her all to the floor. She slashed into both Scott and Ari with her claws, making them fall to the floor. Ari leaned against the table behind her.

Liam: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"

Scott and Tara were lying on their backs on the floor next to each other, their heads turned to look at each other.

Tara struggled to move to no avail, breathing heavily. "It wasn't a Werewolf."

Scott sighed. "Kanima."

From 5.03 "Dream Catchers", in the Sheriff's Station, Lydia, Angel, Malia and Kira walked toward Sheriff and Nicole.

Tracy was hanging upside down from the ceiling. She had her Kanima tail grown, her eyes yellow, and her skin scaly. She growled at them.

Tracy slashed her tail into Lydia's stomach deeply, making her scream in pain.

Lydia held her bleeding torso in agony.

Kira jumped onto the desk, spinning the sword, all around her body, above her head. She started to glow with Kitsune aura.

Angel looked at Kira in shock.

Kira jumped off of the desk, slashing toward Tracy's head, about to kill her.

Angel grabbed Kira's arms to stop her from decapitating Tracy. "Kira!"

From 5.03 "Dream Catchers", in the basement of the Sheriff's Station, Angel and Tracy were talking.

"You're not dreaming, Tracy," Angel told her.

Figure 1 appeared next to Tracy, injecting Tracy in the neck.

Angel started to run forward.

Figure 2 appeared next to Angel, grabbing her by the head, pushing her against the wall, keeping her pinned.

Tracy fell to the floor, dead.

Figure 1 and Figure 3 walked down the hall.

Figure 2 let Angel go, following them.

Angel pushed away from the wall, groaning in pain, turning to look down the hall.

The three figures phased in and out of reality, disappearing.

Angel leaned against the wall in confusion, sliding to the floor slowly, looking at Tracy's body, guilty that she couldn't stop them, shaken up that she had to have had watch her die, tears in her eyes, breathing heavily, shakily, not knowing what to do, and not knowing what to make of all of this.

Flashback

 Night - Jordan and Angel's House - Jordan's Room

Jordan was lying down, flipping a playing card.

The card featured the queen of diamonds; The queen looked like Lydia.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Night - Jordan and Angel's House - Living Room

Lydia and Jordan were sitting at a table.

Lydia held a lighter in her hand, lighting it.

"Are you gonna do a magic trick?" Jordan asked.

"No," Lydia answered. "But you are."

"I only know one trick, and it's with a playing card," Jordan told her.

"Well, this one involves a lighter in your hand," Lydia told him.

"This is sounding less like a magic trick and more like assault," Jordan told her.

"It's a little dangerous, yes," Lydia admitted. "But it's not as bad as being lit on fire in a Deputy's Sheriff's car. Which, by the way, both you and your niece walked away from unscathed."

"Not entirely," Jordan told her. "I had to pay for the uniform."

Lydia tilted her head. "Give me your hand."

"I think I've seen something like this in a movie," Jordan told her.

"'Lawrence of Arabia'," Lydia told him.

"Remind me what the trick was," Jordan told her.

"Not minding,' Lydia answered.

Jordan held his hand toward Lydia.

Lydia held the lighter underneath Jordan's hand, lighting it, putting the flame to his skin.

Jordan groaned, pulling his hand away. "Oh, son of a..."

Lydia chuckled. "You can last longer than that. This time I want you to do something different. Don't think about the flame. Don't think about the heat. Don't think about it hurting. Don't even look at it."

"Okay," Jordan told her.

Lydia put the lighter underneath his hand, holding his gaze with hers so he wouldn't look at the flame. She lit the lighter, putting the fire against his skin.

Jordan gazed off, his eyes drifting.

Smoke started to rise.

The flame was on for so long the lighter heated up to the point that it burned Lydia's thumb, making her gasp in pain and let it go.

Jordan was brought out of his trance. "What? What happened?"

"Oh, it was too hot," Lydia answered. "My thumb was too close to the flame."

"Are you okay?" Jordan asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Lydia answered. "What about you? Did it hurt?" Jordan showed her his hand. His skin was blackened. Jordan rubbed away the soot, revealing that his hand was unharmed. "When you were looking at me... your eyes kind of drifted. What were you thinking about?"

"A dream," Jordan answered.

"A dream?" Lydia repeated.

Jordan nodded.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Dream

Night - Beacon Hills Preserve - Nemeton

Jordan was naked, covered in soot. His eyes glowed the color of fire. Everything around him was on fire.

Flashback

Night - Jordan and Angel's House - Living Room

Lydia and Jordan were sitting together at the table.

"I've had it here and there for about six months," Jordan told her. "I'm walking in the woods, carrying a body. But it's completely burned. I can't see who it is, or who it was."

"Where are you taking it?" Lydia asked.

"A clearing," Jordan answered. "There's a huge tree in the middle of it."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Dream

Night - Beacon Hills Preserve - Nemeton

Jordan carried a female burned body toward the Nemeton.

Jordan: (voice over) "You'd think it was 1,000 years old. But it's been cut down. It's just a stump."

Lydia: (voice over) "It's real. It's a real tree."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Flashback

Night - Jordan and Angel's House - Living Room

Lydia and Jordan were sitting at the table together.

"In a real part of Beacon Hills," Lydia told him. "It used to be the center of a grove of trees called a Nemeton."

"What's a Nemeton?" Jordan asked.

"A sacred meeting place for Celtic Druids," Lydia answered. "They were scientists and healers thousands of years ago."

"Angel told me about it, but I've never seen this place," Jordan told her.

"But that's why you're here," Lydia told him. "It's why Angel's here. It drew you and Angel here. That's what it does. It's a beacon for supernatural creatures. It might even make them more powerful. What else happens?"

"I put the body down," Jordan answered. "I--I lay it down on the rings of the trees, and..."

"What?" Lydia asked.

Jordan shook his head. "Nothing. That's it. That's the end of the dream."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Night - Jordan and Angel's House - Jordan's Room

Jordan was lying on the couch. He flipped the queen of diamonds.

A black burned smudge appeared on her face.

Jordan flipped the card again.

The smudge disappeared.

Jordan slid the card to the side, revealing two cards, one with the smudge, and one without.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Dream

Night - Beacon Hills Preserve - Nemeton

Jordan placed the body down on the rings of the Nemeton, sitting next to it. He held his head, seeming to be in a complete daze. He lowered his hands, looking up, his eyes glowing with fire.

Jordan and the Nemeton were set in flames, burning bodies all around them.

¤•¤°¤•¤

There was a black wolf with red eyes.

Scott looked up. He blinked. When he opened his eyes, they were glowing red.

Scott stood alone in a cloud of dust or smoke. Tyler Posey.

Stiles stood at a translucent crime board, adding a few things. Dylan O'Brien.

Stacie looked straight ahead, holding a crossbow in hand, holding it pointing up in front of her face, looking straight ahead. Zoey Deutch.

A Dread Doctor's face appeared.

Ari and Adriana stood back to back. Ari looked to the left, holding her motorcycle helmet in her hands, the irises of her eyes glowing blue. Adriana looked to the right, tracing her double infinity tattoo on her wrist, her eyes glowing completely purple. There was water sprinkles everywhere as they both looked up. Katherine McNamara.

Scott and Tara kissed passionately, pulling away.

Tara stood with her back toward you, looking over her shoulder, black blood covering her skin, her body reflecting each other. Victoria Justice.

On the back of Tara's hand, a triskele appeared. The spirals were black. The tip of one spiral was Beta blue. The tip of one spiral was Beta gold. The tip of one spiral was Alpha red. The intersection point was half-breed purple.

Lydia's hair covered her face, her hands held in front of her. She tossed her head back to get it to fall behind her. Holland Roden.

Natalie sat in a chair, half turned, her left leg to the left side of the chair, her right leg in front of it, her left arm lying on the back of the chair. Her eyes glowed gold. Sasha Pieterse.

A double infinity sign tattoo appeared on Adriana's wrist.

Malia was in the woods, her arms raised at her sides. Shelley Hennig.

Kira was in a fighting stance, holding her katana sword raised ready. Arden Cho.

Angel stood within fire, water and electricity, air blowing through her hair. She had her arms raised to her sides as if taking flight. Her eyes were glowing a dark, fiery gold. Ginny Gardner.

Natalie and Liam kissed slowly and softly.

Liam looked to the right. He was completely shifted. He returned to normal, looking straight forward, letting his eyes glow gold. Dylan Sprayberry.

On Scott's arm, two bands appeared, the top band thicker than the other.

The black blood pulled away from Tara's body, almost as it was never there.

Scott stared ahead. His eyes glowed red. He tilted his head toward his chest.

Same Night as the ending of 4.03 "Dream Catchers"

Night - Sheriff's Station - Donovan's Cell

Donovan was still in his cell. He could hear the growls from the fight in the basement. "Hey! Can someone let me out of here? Hey! Come on. Let me out, come on."

The Masked Figures walked in.

Figure 1 waved a hand in front of the electronic key card reader.

The cell door unlocked, rolling back.

Donovan backed away into the cell, as far as he could to get away from the Figures.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari, Tara, Deaton and Theo arrived.

They saw blood staining the floor, walking further inside.

Jordan was helping Sheriff stand.

Stacie ran to help Sheriff stand.

Ari and Tara followed the scent of blood to the side, seeing Lydia lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from her wound.

Kira and Malia were kneeling next to Lydia.

Kira was keeping pressure on Lydia's wound.

Malia was taking Lydia's pain.

Ari instantly went to Lydia's other side, kneeling next to her, taking off her belt, wrapping it around Lydia's waist.

Stiles stood in the doorway, unable to move.

Ari fastened the belt around Lydia's waist as a tourniquet.

Scott and Tara walked closer.

Nicole walked in, looking at Lydia worriedly, grabbing Ari's shoulder in denial. "Oh, God."

Nicole knelt next to Ari, Lydia, Kira and Malia.

Tara followed a trail of blood to a doorway.

"Stiles," Scott told him. Stiles was still frozen in the doorway to the Sheriff's Office, looking at Lydia. "Stiles." Stiles looked at Scott. "Stiles, come on."

Stiles looked at Lydia.

Lydia forced herself to smile, nodding.

"It's okay," Ari told him. "She's all right."

Lydia whimpered. "Tracy. I'm fine. Help Tracy. Find Tracy. Go."

"Stiles," Stacie told him.

"Come on, Stiles," Sheriff told him.

Stiles walked toward them.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Basement

Angel was still in the basement with Tracy's dead body, in denial, not knowing what to do.

Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Tara, Deaton, Sheriff and Jordan ran inside. They stopped when they saw Tracy's body, looking at Angel.

"It wasn't me, Tara," Angel told her.

"Angel, what the hell happened to her?" Tara asked.

"Tara, there were these people," Angel told her. "They had masks. Um, there were... three of them. I think there were three."

Jordan walked closer. "What--what are you talking about?"

Angel stammered, overwhelmed. "They were strong, Uncle Jordan. They had a weapon. Jordan, I didn't do this."

Jordan pulled Angel away, trying to get her to calm down. "Okay. Hey. It's okay."

Angel breathed heavily, trying to calm herself down.

Scott, Tara and Deaton knelt next to Tracy's body.

"She's not changing back," Deaton told them. He looked at Scott and Tara. "We're gonna need to get her out of here."

"Hey," Sheriff told them. "Absolutely not. This is a crime scene. We call the coroner."

"I think the coroner might be very confused by this girl's reptilian tail," Deaton told him.

"I don't care," Sheriff told him.

"You should," Deaton told him. "Unless you're prepared to hold a press conference announcing the presence of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills."

"Dad, he's right," Stiles told him.

"Maybe at the clinic, we can figure out how to change her back," Scott told him. "Then call the coroner."

Sheriff stammered. "There's a line. There is a line that we have to draw."

"Dad, you've already crossed it," Stacie told him. "More than once."

"Sheriff, please," Deaton told him. "Let me help. I've dealt with things like this before."

Sheriff hesitated, giving in. "Just do it fast."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Dark Laboratory

Donovan was strapped down to an examine table.

The Masked Figures stood around him, taking turns examining his head and his mouth.

Donovan was terrified, panicking. "What the hell are you doing?"

They didn't answer.

Figure 1 looked at Figure 2 and Figure 3. "His condition looks promising."

"What--what does that mean?" Donovan asked.

Figure 2 held Donovan's chin to hold his head still.

Figure 3 started to pull Donovan's teeth out one by one, making him scream in pain.

Donovan's gums welled up with blood. It smeared across his face in a grotesque parody of clown makeup.

New, sharp, needle-like teeth began to grow in double rows.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Hallway

Lydia was being wheeled down the corridor.

Macey, Nicole, Adriana and Ari followed.

Lydia moaned in pain.

"You're going to be okay, Lydia," Ari told her. "It's your spleen."

The paramedics took Lydia away.

Macey, Adriana and Ari exchanged a look, turning to face Nicole.

"Aunt Nicole, what did you see at the Sheriff's Station?" Adriana asked.

"Adriana, all I saw was some lunatic girl trying to kill everyone," Nicole told her. "I'm sorry, I just--I have to go be with Lydia."

"Nicole, I'm Lydia's surgeon," Macey told her. "She's going to be just fine."

Nicole let a few tears fall in relief. "Thank you, Macey. Thank you so much."

Macey nodded. "Of course. You can go wait with her for a few moments before the surgery begins."

Nicole walked away, leaving.

Ari turned to face Adriana. "Adri, what were you saying?"

"Tracy was buried in a hole," Adriana told them. "Buried alive. Crawled out. Then we found another hole."

"Who was buried in that one?" Macey asked.

"I don't know, but I think we're gonna want to find out," Adriana told them.

Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Tara, Natalie, Kira, Malia, Angel and Liam walked closer.

"How bad is it?" Stiles asked.

"Could have been worse," Macey told them. She looked at Ari. "Nice work with that tourniquet. You saved her life, Ari." She looked all around them. "All right. She's about to go into surgery. So, it's going to be awhile. Any other supernatural details that I need to know about, or do we just stitch her up and hope for the best?"

"It was the tail," Kira told her.

"Yeah, Tracy cut her with the tail, if that makes a difference," Malia told her.

"Okay," Macey told them, walking away, leaving.

"But it wasn't just Tracy," Angel told them. "There were the others. The guys in the masks."

Angel didn't seem to believe that they really believed her about that part of the story.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Operating Room

The doctors were preparing to undergo Lydia's surgery.

Macey was standing over her. "Okay, can you do a little countdown for us, Lydia? Starting with ten."

Lydia looked at the ceiling above. "Ten, nine..." The anesthesia began to take effect. Lydia was beginning to lose consciousness, seeing the regular doctors and nurses phase into the Masked Figures, and then back again. "Eight... seven... six..." Macey put a blanket over Lydia. Lydia saw Macey phase into Figure 1. "Five..."

Lydia was almost out of it, looking at Macey/Figure 1 phased back to Macey.

Macey phased into Figure 1 as she spoke, their voices mingling together. "Keep counting."

Lydia continued to count down, nearly unconscious. "Four... three..."

The Figures crowded in around Lydia.

Stilinski House - Stiles' Room

(Song:) Till My Heart Stops - Too Far Moon

Stiles was writing 'Masked' and 'Tracy Stewart' on his Plexiglas murder board.

Malia was sitting on the bed behind him. She looked at another written statement on the board.

Who is the Desert Wolf?

Malia stood, walking closer, picking up an eraser, beginning to erase that part of the board.

Stiles looked at Malia, confused.

Malia looked at Stiles, nodding.

¤•¤°¤•¤

The Loft

Scott and Tara walked into the loft, sighing.

Tara turned on the light, walking down the steps.

Scott closed the door behind them, walking down the steps toward her.

Tara looked at her arm where Tracy had slashed into her to paralyze her just that night, gazing off. Scott stood in front of her, taking her arm. Tara looked up at him.

Scott leaned his forehead against hers. "Tara?"

"I never thought that I would feel this bad over not being able to save someone," Tara told him. "What did you do to me?"

Scott smiled sadly, kissing her head. They looked at each other for a long moment, kissing slowly, softly.

(Song Ends)

Deaton walked closer. "Sorry to interrupt." Scott and Tara looked at him. Deaton put a duffle bag on the table, pulling out a jar with the creature's talons. "A Werewolf with the talons of an eagle. It's possibly a shapeshifter known in the eastern mythology as a Garuda." he set the jar down on the table, pulling another jar out of his bag with Werewolf claws. "Tracy's claws. The unmistakable claws of a Werewolf." He put the jar on the table. "But a Werewolf who also bears the venom and the scales of a Kanima."

"What do you even call that?" Scott asked.

"Personally, I call it terrifying," Deaton told them. "But at the moment, I'm more interested in how Tracy was able to get across the Mountain Ash."

"I thought nothing supernatural can do that," Tara told them.

"As did I," Deaton told them.

"So, if Tracy was able to cross the Mountain Ash, and no one supernatural can do that, Tracy's not a supernatural creature," Tara told them.

"Exactly," Deaton told them. "If she wasn't born, and she wasn't bitten, she had to have been made."

"Made?" Scott repeated.

"Someone is trying to make supernatural creatures with non-supernatural means," Deaton told them. "And whoever they are, they're somehow managing to blur the lines between science and the supernatural."

"But there's more," Tara told him. "Adriana, Natalie and Liam said they found another hole out in the woods."

"Burying them could be part of their process, a kind of incubation," Deaton told them.

"What are we supposed to do?" Scott asked.

"Same thing you've always done," Deaton answered. "Protect your friends. Protect each other."

"So, what about someone like Tracy?" Tara asked.

"I wish I could tell you," Deaton told them. "Hopefully, I'll have more answers soon. I'll be gone a few days."

"You're leaving?" Scott asked.

"Just a few days," Deaton told them.

"How scared should we be?" Scott asked.

"I've lived in the world of the supernatural a long time," Deaton told them. "But I'm still a doctor. Still a man of science. Something like this happens, it rattles the foundation of everything you believe. Something like this shakes you to the core."

"Something like what?" Tara asked.

"The rules," Deaton answered. "The rules have changed."

Day Two

Morning - Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Lydia's Room

Lydia was sleeping. She heard martial arts fighting on television, waking up, rolling over to find Jordan sitting in a chair by her bed.

Jordan was watching the fighting on the TV. He looked at Lydia.

"What are you doing here?" Lydia asked.

"Officially, I'm here to gather eyewitness testimony," Jordan answered. "Unofficially, I'm trying to find something to watch. But the only thing that comes in is this Kung Fu movie. You like Kung Fu movies?"

Lydia watched the movie. "Angel told us that you were teaching her how to fight like that. And it made her able to take on even Tracy and get her to wake up. Can you teach me?"

"You want to learn jiu-jitsu, hand-to-hand?" Jordan asked.

Lydia nodded barely. "I want to learn how to fight. Can you teach me?"

Jordan nodded. "Yeah, I can teach you."

Lydia managed a small smile.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills High School - AP Biology

Ari, Scott and Kira were sitting in their usual seats in the front row.

Ari looked at the empty seat next to her where Lydia was supposed to be. She was making a list of everything that was going wrong right now to figure out what actually was going on.

Mrs. Finch turned to face them. "If 99.9% of our DNA sequences is the same as other humans, what could account for the missing 0.1% difference? Kira?"

"Um, nucleotides," Kira answered.

"That's right," Mrs. Finch told her.

Ari's list looked like:

Belasko (creature)

An arrow pointing down.

Talons

An arrow pointing down.

Tracy

An arrow pointing down.

Kanima

An arrow pointing down.

Wolf

Scott raised his hand.

"Yes, Scott?" Mrs. Finch asked.

"Can there be more than one species in the same DNA?" Scott asked.

Ari looked up.

"No," Mrs. Finch answered. "But there can be multiple sets of DNA in the same individual. We call that a Chimera. Anyone know where that term comes from? Sydney?"

"Greek mythology," Sydney answered. "It's a lion with a goat coming out of its back and a tail that ends in the head of a snake."

"That's right, Sydney," Mrs. Finch told her. "Do you want to read us the full Wikipedia on your phone?" Sydney looked down, putting her phone away. Ari drew an arrow under 'wolf' on her list, writing 'Chimera' underneath the arrow. "But that does get us into the next topic of mutation. As you know from the reading, DNA is a fragile molecule. Isn't it, Ari?" Ari looked up. "Or did you miss last night's assigned reading?"

Ari pressed her lips together, nodding. "Yes."

"Martin's your last name, right, Ari?" Mrs. Finch asked. Ari nodded. "Any relation to Lydia?"

"My cousin," Ari answered. "I was with her at the hospital all night."

"Well, then you get a pass, this time," Mrs. Finch told her. "But thank you for another helpful transition in topic." She walked toward her desk, picking up a pile of papers. "Drop dorms. All those now acutely aware that they do not belong in this class..." She walked toward a girl sitting behind Ari, handing her a drop form. "You should fill one out." She handed out two more, walking toward her desk, holding them up for the class to see. "The rest will be on my desk."

Mrs. Finch put the forms on the desk.

The bell rang to dismiss class.

The class stood, walking out, leaving.

Scott hesitated at Mrs. Finch's desk, looking at the drop forms on her desk. He took a moment to think, taking a form.

Sheriff's Station - Sheriff's Office

Valerie was showing the Sheriff footage from the jail cell from the night of Tracy's attack. "Wait for it."

The video staticked, grainy, cutting out for a second, resuming.

Donovan was no longer inside the cell.

"Well, that's a pretty convenient time for a camera malfunction," Sheriff told her.

"Very," Valerie agreed.

"By the way, isn't this your day off?" Sheriff asked.

"I stood there, listening to that kid threaten your life, and your children's lives," Valerie told him. "He tried to attack Angel, who happens to be my sister's friend. I'm not taking time off until he's caught."

"Wherever Donovan is, I'm pretty sure that he's running as far away as possible," Sheriff told her. "As fast as he can."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Dark Laboratory

Donovan was still strapped to the table.

Theo walked in, looking a clipboard in his hands. "You're lucky they're allowing me to talk to you. They don't usually do that. They're not giving me much time, either. See, these guys? They... they believe in numbers. And their results. They'll weigh the pros and cons. And they'll decide pretty quickly."

"Decide what?" Donovan asked.

"Whether or not you die," Theo answered. "By the way, this is your psych evaluation for when you applied to be a Sheriff's Deputy. Multiphasic Personality Inventory. You know what that is? It's a test that assesses abnormal behavior. It's supposed to be able to tell when you're lying or being defensive or if you're a total psycho. Your results were pretty disappointing, Donovan. You scored high on the Psychopathic Deviate scale. And that--that's bad." He walked closer. "I'm not even going to get into your Anger Expression Inventory. Just this one quote here at the end. 'Not suitable for law enforcement'. It sucks, right? I mean, you never get to be a cop like your dad. But it doesn't matter, because... you've got something else now. Power. Real power. Strength, speed, heightened senses. So what do you do with power like that? I know what you're thinking. 'Go after Stilinski'. Break his legs, cut off his ears... pull out his teeth? Problem is, though, sooner or later, physical pain? It's--it's manageable. See, the real pain is emotional pain. That is the kind of pain that lasts. And if you want to cause Stilinski that devastating, soul-crushing, emotional pain... you don't go after him. You go after someone he loves."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills High School - Library

Scott, Stiles, Stacie and Ari were sitting at the table.

Adriana and Natalie walked closer.

Natalie was holding the Bestiary.

Ari looked at Adriana. "Adriana, did you get in to see Lydia?"

"Yeah," Adriana answered. "I went while using my free period. She's still in the ICU."

"And we got another thing," Natalie told them, putting the Bestiary on the table in front of them.

"Anything in here about half-Werewolves, half-Kanimas, Natalie?" Stacie asked.

"The Chimera," Ari told them.

"Um, what?" Stiles asked.

"Chimera," Ari answered. "It's a creature made of incongruous parts." She looked at Adriana and Natalie. "Adri, Nattie, if you two said you found two burial sites, it means Tracy's not the only one."

Stacie turned a page in the Bestiary.

"Who's the second Chimera?" Natalie asked.

"Yeah, and why would they bury them?" Stiles added.

"Deaton thinks it's part of their process," Scott answered.

Stacie turned to a new page where there was an image of a Wendigo attacking a Viking.

A Wendigo is strong enough to not only fight an Alpha Werewolf, but to possibly win such a fight.

These vicious supernatural creatures were an unwelcome discovery among the native people of the new world. They are known to have an uncontrollable appetite for human flesh which leads them to kill despite any better judgment they might processes.

Sneaky creatures, Wendigos can maintain a human appearance while hiding multiple fanged teeth (similar to Kanimas) behind their lips. However, when in their true form, Wendigos' eyes shimmer with a white glow.

While there may be a tactical strike known to kill these supernatural cannibals among the tribes who have been most affected by Wendigos, it is yet unknown to us.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Night - Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Hallway

Two paramedics had wheeled a patient inside.

The patient was a teenage boy. He screamed in agony.

Macey and Melissa ran closer.

"Macey, can you clue me in as to what's wrong with this kid?" Melissa asked.

"I'm pretty sure it's this," Macey told her.

Melissa looked at her in confusion.

Macey lifted up the teenage boy's arm to reveal a large, oozing wound on his arm.

The teenage boy screamed in pain.

Sinema - Outside

(Song:) Looking at You - SpeakerHedz

Liam and Natalie were walking toward a club called Sinema.

Natalie was looking at her phone.

"Natalie, can you put your phone away for five minutes?" Liam asked. "Scott can howl if he needs you."

Natalie put her phone away, sighing. "I just feel like I should be doing something, Liam."

"You are, Natalie," Liam told her. "We both are. You once told me that we couldn't stop living our lives, and so that means I get to take you out on a date."

Natalie smiled. "I was drunk from messed-up music at a bonfire where we nearly died when I told you that."

"So what, Natalie?" Liam asked. "I'm supposed to meet Mason here because I'm his wingman tonight, and considering the state of his dating life, he needs a wingman, co-pilot, and a really hot flight attendant."

"So, I'm his hot flight attendant?" Natalie asked.

Liam nodded. "Pretty much. And besides, Angel works here, and she told me that Adriana, Stiles, Malia and Kira were coming tonight. Adriana and Brett; and Stiles and Malia have a date, and Kira's hanging out. So we can hang out and have a date, too, Natalie. And considering that our last date got ruined by assassins trying to kill us, and our first attempt at a date got ruined by me being put in the hospital where a Wendigo tried to kill both of us, and I was bit to turn into a Werewolf, we deserve at least one date that doesn't end up ruined by someone trying to kill us, Natalie."

Natalie sighed, smiling a small smile. "Fine. Let's go."

They walked toward the door.

Angel opened the big, heavy metal door for them. She was wearing a multi-shade blue UV glow dress and rollerskates for the black light inside. "About time you losers made it to the party." Natalie smiled sarcastically. Liam handed her the tickets and the money to get inside. Angel smiled. "Welcome to Sinema."

Inside

(Song:) Orion - DallasK

Natalie and Liam walked in.

Strobe lights were flashing.

'Night of the Living Dead' was playing by projector on the beads and chains hanging from the ceiling.

Angel skated her way past Natalie and Liam, through the crowd, toward a teenage girl.

The teenage girl was holding two trays of shots. She handed one to Angel. They smiled, skating away in opposite directions.

Adriana and Brett walked in from across the club.

Kira was talking at the bar.

Stiles and Malia were drinking.

Mason was scoping out the club.

Natalie smiled. "Yeah, I can get used to this."

Liam smiled. "Then let's start having fun, Natalie."

Brett and Adriana walked through the crowd.

"So, this is what you call a date?" Adriana asked. Brett turned to face her. Adriana smiled. "I love it. You may not have noticed this, but..." She spun to face away, her back to him, dancing and swaying sensually to the music, looking at him from over her shoulder, smiling slyly. "But I love to dance."

"Oh, I've noticed, Adriana," Brett told her.

Adriana and Brett smiled, continuing to dance.

Beacon Hills High School - Outside

Stacie and Ari were walking outside, along the stone steps of the school.

Ari sighed. "Stacie, I'm dropping by Tracy's later to see what I can find."

"Because of what Angel said she saw?" Stacie asked.

Ari nodded. "I believe her, Stacie. I believe Angel."

"Yeah, well, crazy as it sounds, so do I, Ari," Stacie told her.

Ari smiled a small smile. "All right, Stace, I'm gonna go ahead and go. Have fun with track practice, Stacie."

"Oh, you know I will," Stacie told her. "I mean, I always feel better when I run. It's a release. I get to leave everything behind for a little while."

"Stace, lacrosse is also a release for the both of us," Ari told her. "Stacie, can't believe that I'm gonna say that I actually can't wait for the season to start."

Stacie smiled. "All right, I'll see you later, Ari."

"Bye, Stacie," Ari told her, walking toward her motorcycle in the parking lot.

Stacie turned around, walking toward the athletic building.

Ari slid onto her bike, pulling on her helmet, starting the bike, driving away, leaving.

Angel and the teenage girl were getting fresh tray of shots from the bar.

The bartender took one of the shots from the girl's tray, drinking.

"You remember that we have to pay for these out of our own pockets if we don't sell them, right?" the girl asked.

The bartender smirked. "Yeah, Hayden. I remember."

The bartender took a shot vial from Angel's tray, drinking.

"Yeah, that's great, Phil," Angel told him sarcastically. "You just stay back there, getting drunk as usual."

Phil held out his hand to show them how steady it was. "Steady as a rock."

Hayden and Angel skated away.

"I'm never going to make enough," Hayden told her.

Angel turned to face her friend. "Yeah, you will. I know you don't want me to help you, but I'm not giving you the money that I actually earn. I'm giving you the money I get for selling the stuff I never should have gotten in the first place."

Angel skated away, past Chayton. "Hey, Chayton. Bye, Chayton."

Chayton watched her go curiously. "Hey, Angel. Bye, Angel."

Malia and Stiles were sitting at the bar, still, looking over the club. They saw Natalie and Liam dancing; and Adriana and Brett dancing. They saw Mason talking to a boy.

Malia sensed something, looking confused. Her senses heightened. She looked around, seeming to see everything in slow motion as the music faded from her hearing. She heard the tap, tap, tap of someone's shoes.

Everything returned to normal.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Hallway

Scott and Tara stepped out of the elevator onto the second floor of the hospital.

Macey and Melissa were waiting for them.

"This way," Melissa told them. They led Scott and Tara down the hallway. "He came in about 45 minutes ago."

They could hear the teenage boy screaming.

"Melissa, I'm gonna find an anesthesiologist covering acute pain," Macey told her. "See what you guys can do."

"Okay, Macey," Melissa told her.

Macey walked away, leaving.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Hospital Room

Melissa led Scott and Tara inside.

The teenage boy was in bed, bleeding, screaming in pain.

"Mom, what's happening to him?" Scott asked.

"It's the pain," Melissa answered. "Nothing's working. We've already pumped him full of morphine."

The boy whimpered in pain.

"Can't they do anything to help him?" Tara asked.

"We can put him in a medically-induced coma," Melissa answered. "It's how we help burn victims deal with the pain. I'm sure you already knew that, Tara."

Tara looked away at the mention of Peter.

"Let me see if I can help," Scott told them.

The boy screamed in pain. "Please, make it stop. Please make it stop."

Scott took the boy's hand, starting to take his pain, black veins crawling underneath his skin. The pain was too much to take it. It seemed to take hold of Scott, making him groan in pain, unable to let go.

"Scott," Tara told him. "Let go. Let go of him."

Tara pulled Scott away.

Scott gasped in pain, trying to catch his breath. "I'm okay, Tara." The boy was no longer in pain. Scott looked at the bandages on the boy's arms. "Let me see it. Let me see his arm." Melissa undid the strap restraining the boy to the bed on his injured arm, removing the bandage to reveal gruesome, bleeding sting wounds. "Holy...."

"What is that?" Tara asked.

"The lab says scorpion venom," Melissa answered.

"Scorpion?" Tara repeated.

"I know," Melissa told them. "But that's not the weirdest part. Because a sting this bad means that he should have been dead 10 hours ago, and the scorpion that stung him would have been 10 feet tall."

"Please tell me that doesn't mean there's a giant scorpion running around Beacon Hills," Scott told them.

"Lucas," the boy told them. "It was Lucas."

(Song:) Area 51 - Hardball & DallasK

Angel skated through the club with her tray of shots, toward Adriana, Natalie, Malia and Kira were talking on one side of the club. "Hey." They looked toward where Stiles, Liam, Brett and Mason were standing at the bar. "What's going on?"

"Malia says she sensed something that no one else did," Kira answered.

"No, I didn't catch anything," Adriana told them.

"Adriana, no one else in here's like us?" Malia asked.

"I don't know," Natalie told them. "Maybe. It's Beacon Hills. What's the difference?"

"It felt different, Natalie," Malia answered.

"What do you mean?" Kira asked.

"It felt off," Malia answered. "It felt wrong."

A teenage boy was looking toward Stiles, Brett, Liam and Mason at the bar. He looked at Mason.

Mason noticed, pointing at the guy, looking at Stiles, Brett and Liam. "Hey, uh, do you see that guy? He keeps looking over here. Do you know him?"

"Yeah," Liam answered. "I used to go to school with him and Brett at Devenford."

Brett nodded. "That's Lucas."

Lucas held his hands behind his back. Thorn-like spikes began to form along his arms, like scorpion stingers.

Malia sensed something in the club, letting her eyes glow blue.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Hospital Room

The boy was lying in his bed, looking over the wounds on his arm.

Scott and Tara stood at his bedside.

"Hey, Cory," Tara told him. "What Lucas did to you, he's gonna to do it to someone else, and it's gonna be much worse. We need to know what happened."

"I don't really know," Cory told them. "He's never been like that before."

"Like what?" Scott asked.

"Aggressive," Cory answered. "We were taking it slow, but it wasn't me. He was the shy one. Then we're hanging out today, and it's like he was a different person."

"Like, different how?" Scott asked.

"Like, super confident," Cory answered. "We were just kissing, and then I felt this sharp sting on my arm, and--and then I looked up at him, and I swear his eyes turned black."

"You mean totally black?" Scott asked.

"The whole eye," Cory answered. "But it was only for a second. And then he said sorry, and he'll see me at the club tonight, and then he just left. And then a few minutes later, I'm in the worst pain of my life."

"Hold on, you said club," Tara told him. "What club?"

"Every Friday night," Cory told them. "Sinema."

(Song:) Superfuture - DallasK

Angel was weaving her way through the crowd with her tray of shot vials.

People were dancing too close to her, making it unclear for her to see in front of her.

Angel bumped into someone, nearly falling and dropping all of the shot glasses, making them shatter.

Chayton was the one she bumped into, grabbing her arms to keep her standing.

Angel lowered the tray to her side in exasperation. "You've got to be kidding me. Those were $10 each."

Angel put her hands to her head.

"Sorry, Angel," Chayton told her.

Angel lowered her hands, looking around at the dancing people that were jostling them still. "Yeah, not your fault, Chayton. But it's not like the bartender's just going to refill them for me."

"20 shots for ten each's $200," Chayton told her. "I'll get back to you on that."

Chayton turned around, walking away.

Angel watched him go curiously, confused. "Wait, Chayton..."

Natalie and Liam were dancing. Liam curled his arm around her to place a hand on her back for them to dance closer. Natalie turned her back to him, raising her arms in the air, leaning back against him as she danced. Liam kissed her neck. Natalie closed her eyes, loving the feeling of being there with him, feeling free for the first time in a long time. She turned to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck as they continued to dance. They looked at each other, smiling small smiles.

(Song:) America - No Ego

Adriana led Brett behind the beads and the chains dangling from the ceiling. They saw that the movie was still playing on the chains. In hiding while on the lookout for the threat that could be coming for Adriana, Theo was across the club, watching.

"'Night of the Living Dead'," Adriana told him.

"What, the movie?" Brett asked.

"Yeah," Adriana answered. "It's one of the first classic zombie movies. Me, Ari and Lydia used to have Friday Fright Nights all the time. Have you seen it?"

"Never," Brett answered. "How does it end?"

"The zombies pretty much win," Adriana answered. Brett stepped closer to her. "All the good guys die."

Brett stopped merely inches in front of her. "So, are you saying it's better to be one of the bad guys, Adriana?"

Adriana slowly shook her head, gazing up at him thoughtfully, tracing, the double infinity sign tattoo on her wrist. "No. 'Cause in the end, the bad guys don't have anything to live for or to die for. The good guys do. And that's what makes life worth living."

Seeing Adriana trace her tattoo that signified her bond with Theo once again while she was with Brett, Theo smiled slightly.

Adriana slowly drifted closer teasingly, a small smile playing over her lips. Brett leaned closer, kissing her slowly for the first time. They pulled away, looking into each other's eyes. Brett gently backed her into the wall behind her. They smiled, kissing more deeply than before. He laid his hands on her waist and her back against the wall behind her, pressing them closer. Adriana weaved her fingers through his hair. The more they kissed, the more passionate it became. They pulled away, smiling small smiles, wanting more.

Theo was, annoyed, rolling his eyes, though he was still keeping an eye on Adriana because of the secret danger she was in.

Scott broke open the back door, walking inside.

Tara walked inside, closing the door behind them.

The alarm started to go off.

Scott looked at Tara worriedly.

Tara looked around in annoyance, finding a pipe on the wall, tearing it down, throwing it at the alarm bell on the wall, breaking it, making the alarm stop.

Scott smiled, looking at Tara in admiration. "God, I love you."

Scott walked into the main part of the club.

Tara was too surprised to react for a moment.

(Song:) Alienz - DallasK

Mason was walking alone, confused.

Lucas stood behind him. Scorpion stingers appeared on his arms and neck. He grabbed Mason, pushing him against the wall, going to attack.

Malia grabbed Lucas from the back of his shirt, pulling him off of Mason, throwing him across the room into the other wall, making him fall to the floor.

Malia turned to look at Lucas. "Run!"

Lucas stood, his eyes completely black.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

Scott and Tara walked through the smoke produced by smoke machines in the club, walking through the crowd.

Scott looked around. "I don't get it. They're supposed to be here, and I'm not just talking about Lucas."

Tara looked through the crowd. "Stiles. Angel."

Stiles and Angel heard her. Scott and Tara walked closer.

"Scott, Tara, hey," Stiles told them.

Tara sighed. "You've seen Malia, Kira, Natalie and Adriana, right?"

"And Liam and Mason and Brett," Angel answered.

"Where did they go?" Scott asked.

Stiles looked around, not seeing anyone. "Um... I saw them go back there."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Back

Lucas ran toward Malia, trying to stab her with the scorpion stingers. Malia ducked out of the way, spinning to try to backhand punch him in the face. Lucas caught her arm, gripping her throat, pushing her back against the wall. Malia kicked him back. Lucas tried to stab her with his stingers. Malia ducked. Lucas spun to try to stab Malia. Malia flipped out of the way, turning to Lucas.

Liam and Natalie ran closer from one way.

Adriana and Brett ran closer from another.

Lucas turned to Malia, kicking her in the stomach, making her fall into the wall. He slashed his stingers across her stomach, ripping her clothing and skin, making her fall to the floor. He raised both arms to stab Malia with the stingers.

Adriana cartwheeled closer to kick Lucas' arms with such force that he flipped forward to the ground. She looked at Liam and Natalie, pointing at Mason. "Get him out of here!"

Liam and Natalie ran to Mason to get him out.

Lucas ran toward Adriana while she had been distracted, tackling her to the floor, trying to stab her with the stingers.

Brett caught his wrists before he could, headbutting him in the head, pushing him off of Adriana to the floor.

Adriana sighed, flipping up to a standing position, spinning to face Lucas.

Stiles, Angel, Scott and Tara ran inside.

"You're a little late," Natalie told them.

Stiles ran toward Malia, pulling her out of the way of harm.

Kira took off her belt, snapping it out to form a sword.

Tara ran to a piece of scaffolding behind Lucas, grabbing one, spinning around it to kick Lucas in the back, making him fall to the floor.

Lucas stood.

Tara jumped down from the scaffolding.

Adriana slashed toward Lucas.

Lucas ducked, rolling away, standing.

Lucas and Scott faced off. Lucas kicked him back, punching him in the face, pushing him into the scaffolding.

Kira spun her sword, slashing toward Lucas. Lucas raised his arm, using his scorpion stingers to block the move. Kira spun around, slashing toward Lucas.

Stewart House - Tracy's Room

Ari sat in Tracy's room at her house, sitting on the bed, thinking. She looked at the sketches and drawings on the walls, standing, walking toward them, looking them over. She turned around to see a book and a diary on the desk. She walked toward the desk, placing the diary aside, looking at the sticky note on the book that said:

Here's the book you asked for. Cheesy stuff, but still a fun, scary read.

Ari picked up the book, peeling the sticky note off.

The book had the Masked Figures on the cover.

The subtitle read:

A terrifying tale of science fiction and horror

The title read:

THE DREAD DOCTORS

The 'THE' and the 'DOCTORS' were in white block letters. The 'DREAD' was in yellow block letters.

(Song:) God Loves War - Black Sugar Transmission

Theo was watching the fight, hoping that Adriana wasn't hurt by another Chimera that 'just happened' to be at the same club she was that night, who had already tried to kill her.

Kira slashed her sword toward Lucas repeatedly. Lucas raised both arms, using his scorpion stingers to block the moves.

Malia was writhing in agony on the floor.

Stiles held her close to him, looking up. "Adriana, a little help here."

Adriana ran to Stiles and Malia's side, kneeling on the other side of Malia, looking at the wounds that were causing her agony in her stomach. She took Malia's hands, taking her pain away with one hand, while giving her a little bit of power with the other to take all the pain away and help her heal faster. The hand taking pain had black veins crawling beneath Adriana's skin. The hand giving Malia power had gold veins crawling beneath her skin, into hers.

Malia was breathing heavily, slowly relaxing once the pain was gone and she started to heal.

"What is that thing?" Brett asked.

Kira swung repeatedly toward Lucas. Lucas backed away enough to make her miss. Kira tried to impale Lucas. Lucas pivoted back on one foot to make her miss, grabbing Kira's wrist, trying to make her drop the sword. Kira pulled her wrist free, slashing toward Lucas. Lucas ducked, spinning around her, turning to face her. Kira turned to face Lucas, kicking him back into the chains behind him. Lucas pushed away from the chains, running toward Kira.

Scott stood in Lucas' way, lifting him off the floor, pushing him down.

Lucas' black eyes returned to normal.

(Song Ends)

Kira's eyes glowed gold. She was engulfed with Kitsune aura. She ran toward Lucas, spinning around, shouting in Japanese. "Watashi wa shi no shisha da! [I am the messenger of death!]"

Kira slashed the sword toward Lucas, about to decapitate him.

Angel caught the sword before she did. "Kira!"

Kira glared at Angel. She realized what she was doing, letting the aura and the glow in her eyes fade.

Everyone was confused.

Scott looked at Stiles, Malia and Adriana. "Is everyone okay?"

Stiles and Malia nodded.

Kira ran a hand through her hair, overwhelmed.

Lucas twitched.

Adriana stood, walking closer.

"We need to get him out of here," Tara told them. "Natalie, Liam, Adriana, give us a hand."

Scott, Tara, Adriana, Natalie and Liam took Lucas' body, about to lift him off the floor.

Theo heard a electronic clicking, looking worried that the threat against Adriana had arrived, the reason that he had been keeping an eye on her since he had gotten to town.

A retractable dart nearly shot into Adriana. Adriana quickly backed away before it could kill her. The dart shot into Lucas' chest, into his heart, killing him, making them drop the body. The dart was pulling out of Lucas, back into its casing.

Everyone followed the movement toward the three Masked Figures, and as the cover of the book called them, the Dread Doctors.

Theo was unsurprised that they had tried to kill Adriana already, after trying to have her killed twice, rolling his eyes in annoyance, looking like he would do something about it.

"Why did you do that?" Adriana asked.

"His condition was terminal," Doctor 1 answered.

"What does that mean?" Adriana asked. The Doctors looked toward where Theo was in hiding. Theo was clearly afraid of them but unwilling to let them hurt Adri, shaking his head. The Doctors reluctantly turned to leave. Adriana repeated the question forcefully, angrily. "What does that mean?"

Doctor 1 turned to look at Adriana. "Failure."

Adriana looked at the Dread Doctors in confusion, looking disoriented and shaken.

Electricity flickered.

Lights shattered.

The Doctors phased in and out of focus, seeming to disappear altogether.

Theo sighed in relief, closing his eyes.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Morgue

Macey, Adriana and Ari were in the morgue, standing over Lucas' body.

Macey sighed. "I'm sure they'll come up with a reasonable explanation for the stingers in his arms. I guess it's better than trying to explain a tail."

"Better than the truth?" Ari asked.

"Maybe," Macey answered. "This is the best that we can do for now, Ari."

They put Lucas' body away, closing the door.

Ari sighed, shaking her head. "I should've been there. I--I--I should've known that this was going to happen. I should've been able to stop it."

Macey walked closer. 'You know, Ari, your grandfather used to have a saying about the word 'should'. You know what you're doing when you say 'should' too often, Ari? You're should-ing all over yourself."

Ari and Adriana managed small smiles.

Adriana looked at Ari. "Believe it or not, you did good today, too, Ari. You found a word for the newcomers, Chimeras, and you found out who those guys in the masks are because of the book."

Ari nodded. "Yeah. 'The Dread Doctors'."

Adriana rolled her eyes. "Can we please not call them that?" She seemed thoughtful and distant. "But there was something familiar about them."

"What do you mean, Adri?" Macey asked.

Adriana shook her head. "I don't know. It's just... like a strange sense of deja vu."

Macey sighed. "Adri, I know that I can't be the Mom that says, 'I don't want you to do anything about this'. 'Cause you're both always going to be involved, because not only do you have the power to do something, you care enough to do it. So, Adri, all you really need is to ask yourselves, 'What are we going to do?'"

"We're going to stop them," Adriana answered.

Ari nodded in agreement.

"All right," Macey told them. "Let's go visit Lydia one last time before we call it a night, all right?"

Ari and Adriana nodded.

Macey, Ari and Adriana walked out of the morgue, leaving, turning the light off and closing the door behind them.

Jordan walked in, taking the body.

Beacon Hills High School - Outside

Stacie was outside, waiting, dressed in running clothes, hot, sweaty and tired, leaving a message for Stiles on her phone. "Come on, bro, pick up. My third time calling. I need you to come pick me up so that I don't have to run home. I'm tired, Stiles. Give a girl a break."

Stacie hung up, putting her phone in her pocket, sighing tiredly, tilting her head back, closing her eyes, feeling the cool breeze against her skin for a moment.

Donovan walked up silently behind Stacie. He raised his hand, which seemed to have a lamprey mouth in the skin. He latched his hand onto Stacie's shoulder from behind.

Stacie opened her eyes, seeming to be in anguishing and excruciating pain, screaming as if she was dying.

Stacie took a crossbow from the bag, shooting at him.

Natalie: (voice over from 5.05 A Novel Approach) "Probably really bad."

From 5.05 "A Novel Approach", outside of Eichen House, Ari fell to the ground, breathing deeply, trying to stay awake.
