chapter 17 - A Credible Threat

Outfits in the external link

From 5.12 "Damnatio Memoriae", in the tunnels, Ari and Adriana were talking to Theo.

Ari: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"

"What is it?" Ari asked.

"It's not a Chimera," Theo told them.

"But it's just a kid underneath," Adriana told him. "Someone like us."

From 5.15 "Amplification", in the hospital hallway, the group saw bloody Beast-like footprints on the floor. They followed the trail to see that it eventually turned into bloody human-like footprints.

Theo: (voice over from 5.12 Damnatio Memoriae) "Not anymore."

From 5.13 "Codominance", in the desert, Kira and Noshiko were talking to the Skinwalkers.

Skinwalker 2 looked at Kira. "You wield the sword, but the fox wields you."

From 5.16 "Lie Ability", in the morgue of Eichen House, Kira was flickering with electricity, looking at Malia. "I should've stayed in the desert with the Skinwalkers."

"You can stop it," Malia told her.

Kira's eyes started to glow dark gold of their own accord. Her voice became distorted. "I can't!"

From 5.14 "The Sword and the Spirit", in the girls' locker room, Adriana and Theo were talking. Theo took out the large needle.

"That's supposed to keep the dark urges and anger away?" Adriana asked.

"No," Theo answered. "It'll just give you more control over yourself. Make sure that the darkness of your bond with Ari doesn't take you over completely like it did when you were an Alpha. It's not permanent, and it'll wear off. You know that without this, you'll end up snapping and hurting or killing someone."

From 5.16 "Lie Ability", in Angel's room, Angel and Chayton were talking.

"Theo thinks he's gonna be able to take its power," Angel told him. She scoffed, shaking her head. "He's crazy. It's gonna rip his head off."

"He thinks you and your uncle can take him down," Chayton told her. "That's why he wants to get to you. I think that you will be able to defeat the Beast. I think you can save everyone."

"I can't do it alone," Angel told him. "I need help. From Scott and Ari, from my pack. And I need your help."

Day One

Night - Angel and Jordan's House - Living Room

Jordan was sleeping on the couch.

Angel was watching him from the corner of the room, sitting in her chair.

Jordan: (voice over) "It happens every night. I don't know when and I don't know what triggers it, but at some point every night, I leave. When I come back, I find burned clothes and blood. If I didn't know certain things, I'd call it sleepwalking. But I'm not just wandering out the door. I'm heading out with purpose. I'm searching for something. That's why I need you to follow me. I need to know where I'm going, and what I'm doing. If people are getting hurt because of me. If I'm adding to the body count. I have to know. When I wake up at night, when it takes over, I want you to follow me. And if you have to... Angel, I want you to stop me."

Jordan stood, taken over by the Hellhound, walking out of the house, leaving.

Angel watched him, leaning forward, pulling on her skates, texting Scott.

He's on the move.

Angel stood, skating out of the house, following Jordan.

¤•¤°¤•¤

On the Road - Stiles' Jeep

Stiles was driving the Jeep. Stacie was in the passenger seat. Scott, Tara and Ari were in the backseat.

Scott checked his phone. "Angel said he's headed for the school."

"Why's Parrish headed to the school?" Stiles asked.

"It's not Parrish," Tara told them. "At least, not right now."

"Okay, why's a Hellhound going to the school?" Stiles asked.

"'Cause he's got a yearning for higher education," Stacie told him sarcastically. "Stiles, Hellhound's at the school, so, drive to the school. Okay?"

Stiles gave Stacie a sarcastic look, driving faster toward the school. "Ha ha, Stacie."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills High School - Outside

Angel followed Jordan to the school, skating below the alcove on the steps, seeing a banner for tomorrow night's lacrosse charity game on the ground and burning. She heard a car driving up, turning to see the Jeep pull up to the curb.

Stacie, Scott, Tara and Ari got out of the car, closing their car doors very quietly, walking toward Angel.

Stiles got out of the car, closing his car door loudly.

Stacie, Scott, Tara and Ari stopped, turning to give Stiles a look.

"Sorry, Ari," Stiles said to rhyme, to lighten the mood.

They walked toward Angel.

Angel skated closer to them.

"Where's Parrish?" Stacie asked.

"I lost him, Stacie," Angel told her. "He's moving too fast."

Stacie looked away, seeing a figure lying on the ground nearby. "Guys. He's not moving at all."

Angel, Tara, Scott, Ari, Stacie and Stiles walked toward the figure on the ground.

The figure was a man that had been slashed and torn into, dead.

They walked around him, walking around the corner to find another man on the ground.

Ari looked at the buses. "Look."

The buses had been scorched, burned and broken into.

Several bodies were lying in the bus.

A boy looked up weakly. "Help me..."

Jordan walked closer, shirtless, covered in soot. "It's a trap."

"Please," the boy told them.

Jordan looked over his shoulder toward the others, his eyes glowing with fire, fire seeming to be glowing from underneath his skin. "You can't help him."

The boy's body fell apart, his upper half falling to the ground outside.

Stiles jumped.

The Beast was inside the bus.

"That's big," Stiles told them, reaching toward his sister to pull her back protectively. "Stacie... No one said it was that big."

"I did," Angel told them.

The Beast roared.

Jordan burst on fire, roaring.

The Beast ran to the front of the bus.

Jordan ran toward the bus.

The Beast burst out of the windshield, making it shatter, continuing to run away.

Jordan ran after it.

The Beast and Jordan ran away, leaving.

"Ari, what the hell's happening?" Tara asked.

"It's getting smarter, Tara," Ari answered.

They looked at each other, not liking the sound of that.

¤•¤°¤•¤

There was a black wolf with red eyes.

Scott looked up. He blinked. When he opened his eyes, they were glowing red.

Scott stood alone in a cloud of dust or smoke. Tyler Posey.

Stiles stood at a translucent crime board, adding a few things. Dylan O'Brien.

Stacie looked straight ahead, holding a crossbow in hand, holding it pointing up in front of her face, looking straight ahead. Zoey Deutch.

A Dread Doctor's face appeared.

Ari and Adriana stood back to back. Ari looked to the left, holding her motorcycle helmet in her hands, the irises of her eyes glowing red. Adriana looked to the right, tracing her double infinity tattoo on her wrist, her eyes glowing completely purple. There was water sprinkles everywhere as they both looked up. Katherine McNamara.

Scott and Tara kissed passionately, pulling away.

Tara stood with her back toward you, looking over her shoulder, black blood covering her skin, her body reflecting each other. Victoria Justice.

On the back of Tara's hand, a triskele appeared. The spirals were black. The tip of one spiral was Beta blue. The tip of one spiral was Beta gold. The tip of one spiral was Alpha red. The intersection point was half-breed purple.

Lydia's hair covered her face, her hands held in front of her. She tossed her head back to get it to fall behind her. Holland Roden.

Natalie sat in a chair, half turned, her left leg to the left side of the chair, her right leg in front of it, her left arm lying on the back of the chair. Her eyes glowed gold. Sasha Pieterse.

A double infinity sign tattoo appeared on Adriana's wrist.

Malia was in the woods, her arms raised at her sides. Shelley Hennig.

Kira was in a fighting stance, holding her katana sword raised ready. Arden Cho.

Angel stood within fire, water and electricity, air blowing through her hair. She had her arms raised to her sides as if taking flight. Her eyes were glowing a dark, fiery gold. Ginny Gardner.

Natalie and Liam kissed slowly and softly.

Liam looked to the right. He was completely shifted. He returned to normal, looking straight forward, letting his eyes glow gold. Dylan Sprayberry.

On Scott's arm, two bands appeared, the top band thicker than the other.

The black blood pulled away from Tara's body, almost as it was never there.

Ari stared ahead, letting her eyes glow purple. The purple faded from her eyes, turning into red.

Scott stared ahead. His eyes glowed red. He tilted his head toward his chest.

Tate House - Outside

Tara was making sure that Malia was going to be okay while she was at home that night, standing outside. "I'm going to head home. Are you gonna be okay tonight?"

"Do we really need to do this, Tara?" Malia asked. "Tara, Deaton said the Desert Wolf can't get her power back unless she comes for me on a full moon."

"Just because there are rules to taking power doesn't mean she plans to follow them," Tara told her. "Your mother, Corinne, tried to kill both you and me, and she almost succeeded. You're lucky that I'm not making you stay with me at the loft so that I know you're safe. I've come up with a rule of my own..." She held up a jar of Mountain Ash, pouring it along the front door of Malia's house. "Never be too careful. This way, both you and your dad will be safe."

Tara turned to leave.

Malia took a step after her cousin, but couldn't come outside. "Tara..." Tara turned to face her. "Thank you, Tara. For looking after me. For helping me. And protecting me."

"You're family," Tara told her. "And I don't have a lot of family left."

Malia and Tara both smiled small smiles.

Tara walked away from her house to go back to her home.

The Loft - Tara's Room

(Song:) Bloodsport '15 - Raleigh Ritchie

Scott and Tara were sitting on the bed, kissing slowly and passionately, heatedly.

Tara slowly pulled his shirt over his head, seeing that his chest wound was finally healed, smiling in relief, a little smugly. "I told you that would heal once we were a pack again, once you stopped blaming yourself for what happened."

Scott smiled. "Ha ha. Tara, are you okay?"

"Just worried about Malia," Tara answered.

"The Desert Wolf almost killed you and her," Scott told her. "Tara, why would she want to kill you?"

"Because she blames my mom for taking Malia away from her before she could kill her when she was a baby," Tara answered. "And she can't kill my mother because she's already dead, but..."

"But she can kill you," Scott finished. "You're in danger from her, too, Tara."

"I can take care of myself," Tara told him.

Scott smiled a small smile. "I've noticed. I have a lacrosse game tomorrow. I forgot about it until I saw a banner at school. I'm totally out of practice. We're probably going to lose. You want to come to the game tomorrow night?"

"So I can watch you lose?" Tara asked in amusement.

"So I can watch you, Tara," Scott answered. "Make sure that you're okay. You can worry about Malia. I can worry about you."

Scott and Tara both smiled, continuing to kiss. Scott pulled her shirt over her head. Tara wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him closer into a kiss. They laid down, continuing to kiss. Scott slid his hand over her skin. Tara smiled. Scott laid kisses along her skin over her chest and neck. They kissed slowly, sweetly and passionately.

Day Two

Morning - Yukimura House - Kira's Room

Kira woke up in her pajamas, walking toward a display sword on her dresser, picking it up. It wasn't real, just for show. Kira swung the display sword around in several moves, letting her eyes glow dark gold, looking more like the fox than Kira.

Beacon Hills High School - Boys' Locker Room

Cory and Mason were talking in the boys' locker room, getting ready to leave.

"So you're just going to leave?" Mason asked. Cory zipped his bag closed. "What about your parents?"

"They barely noticed when I died the first time," Cory answered. "Look at this." He pulled his shirt off, revealing the burns on his body that were left by the Hellhound in 5.16 Lie Ability. He was mostly healed, though. "This is life in Beacon Hills. This is what happens." Mason was horrified by how bad the burns looked, reaching out to lightly touch the healing wounds. "It doesn't hurt. It's just taking forever to heal."

"But you are healing," Mason told him. "Maybe it's taking longer because of how bad you were hurt, but it's happening. I mean, look at you. You can make yourself invisible. You're fast. You're strong. People like me need people like you to save our asses. I need you."

Cory pulled his shirt on, turning to face Mason. "No, you don't. You're too smart to need anyone. And it's the smart ones who always survive."

"Then survive with me," Mason told him. "Look, Scott and Ari are going to have a plan. They always do. A couple of weeks ago, they brought Hayden and Chayton in here with cellphone jammers to block the frequency of the Dread Doctors..." He started to realize something. "Follow me."

Mason led Cory out of the locker room.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Outside

Mason and Cory walked outside the school together.

"It's frequency," Mason told him. "Every time the Beast shows up. Angel and Hayden saw it at Sinema when a technician was using cellular transmission to fix a problem. The attack downtown happened right near the radio astronomy observatory. Uh, Deaton and Adriana were attacked by the Beast at an army base, which has huge radar arrays."

"Still not getting it," Cory told him.

"The Beast always shows up near a transmission source," Mason told him. "What if that's how the Dread Doctors are doing it? By broadcasting a high-frequency transmission?"

"So we should be looking for some sort of transmission?" Cory asked.

Mason stopped walking, looking ahead of them. "We don't have to look."

There were a couple of TV vans parked in the parking lot.

A news reporter was interviewing Brett Talbot. "While tonight's game is a charity event, we hear Devenford Prep and Beacon Hills have a long-standing rivalry."

Brett chuckled. "Devenford always plays to win, but especially when it's for charity."

"And especially when 100% of the proceeds go to the winning team," the reporter told him. "Isn't that right?"

Brett smiled. "Which is why we'll be 100% kicking Beacon Hills ass."

The reporter smiled, looking at the camera. "Tickets still available for purchase. This is Kathleen Cassidy for KQNB."

Brett looked toward the school to see Adriana walking toward the school. Adriana slowed when she saw Brett. Brett waved. Adriana nodded in return, looking a little nervous because of the things that had happened since the last time she saw him. Brett noticed something off.

Mason turned to Cory. "The local news always covers the game. There could be three, maybe four vans. All of them transmitting."

"Are you saying that thing's going to be out there tonight?" Cory asked.

"I'm saying... people are going to die," Mason answered. He looked toward the news vans worriedly. "A lot of people."

¤•¤°¤•¤

¤•¤°¤•¤

The Loft

The pack was meeting in the loft.

"Mason said it's not just to transmit frequency," Liam told them. "It's high powered. Like, a really strong signal."

"And that's causing it to shift?" Lydia asked.

"No," Tara asked. "I don't think it's just that. It's getting smarter. What if the Dread Doctors are trying to make the Beast grow faster?"

"With frequencies?" Scott asked.

"No, by shifting," Tara answered. "The frequency's just the trigger. The important part is when it shifts into the Werewolf."

"Like Tara's uncle," Ari told them. "Malia's dad."

Scott nodded. "Right."

"Yeah, when Peter was an Alpha, he got stronger every full moon," Tara told them. "Eventually, the burns healed and he was back to normal."

"So, the Dread Doctors don't want to wait for the full moon," Natalie told them.

"Right, Natalie, they want the Beast to be as strong as possible, as fast as possible," Ari told her.

Angel nodded. "Because of me and Uncle Jordan."

"So, if this is happening tonight, what are we going to do?" Adriana asked.

"Uh, we've got one clue to go on," Stiles told them, pulling out a picture from his bag, putting it on the table for all of them to see. "This came from the hospital." The picture was of a half footprint of blood from the hospital. "Whoever's lurking inside the Beast is wearing a size ten of indeterminate make.

"Indeterminate?" Malia repeated in confusion.

"Means it's a partial print," Stiles told them. "Basically, it was all we were able to get considering all of the fire, blood and carnage."

"How many size 10s are out there?" Scott asked.

"Only one with Parrish's blood on the sole," Stacie answered.

"So, are we going to try to get the game cancelled?" Liam asked.

"No, no, you're going to play, but we're just going to hope really hard that it doesn't turn into a blood-soaked massacre," Adriana told him sarcastically.

"Okay, but, um, aren't we kind of missing out on a chance to catch this thing?" Malia asked. "We don't have the 'who', but we have the 'where' and the 'when'."

Liam, Tara, Stiles and Adriana looked as if they agreed with Malia.

Stacie, Natalie, Angel and Lydia were torn on the decision, looking at Scott and Ari.

"There's too many people," Ari told them.

"And we still don't actually know if it's going to happen," Lydia added. "It just might end up being a regular lacrosse game. It's possible, right?"

Natalie nodded sarcastically. "That's absolutely possible."

No one believed that it would be a regular lacrosse game, given their history with lacrosse games.

Angel chuckled. "Nice sarcasm, Natalie. I think what Natalie means is that this school has pretty much never had a lacrosse game that was just a regular lacrosse game. And Natalie also probably means that this school will never have one. Right, Natalie?"

Natalie nodded. "Absolutely, thanks for summing it up."

"Well, Natalie's not wrong," Stacie told them.

"No, Natalie's right," Ari agreed.

"So, going by Natalie's logic, we're still getting the game cancelled?" Liam asked.

Scott nodded. "We're getting the game cancelled."

They stood, walking out, leaving.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Angel and Jordan's House - Living Room

Angel was just now getting home, putting her skates and her bag by the door, looking around. "Uncle Jordan? You home?"

She heard Jordan's weak voice from further in the house. "Angel. Angel..."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Hallway

Angel walked into the hallway, seeing that Jordan was propping himself against the wall, sitting on the floor, badly slashed from his fight with the Beast the night before. She walked closer worriedly, kneeling next to Jordan. "JP?"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Sheriff's Station - Sheriff's Office

Stiles and Stacie went to the Sheriff's station to talk to Sheriff.

"Stacie, I'm--I'm not so sure I actually have that authority," Sheriff told her.

"You're the county Sheriff," Stiles told him. "You can't cancel a high school lacrosse game?"

"It's a charity game, which generates tens of thousands of dollars," Sheriff told them. "I'd have to go to the school board with evidence of a credible threat."

"A giant Werewolf might rampage across the field, killing people," Stacie told him. "That's an incredible threat."

Sheriff sighed. "Stacie, we're going to have a presence at the game already. I'll double it. I'll triple it."

Stiles jumped up slightly. "Triple? Dad, quadruple it. Octuple it."

Sheriff turned to face them. "There's always a person who could forfeit the game. The Coach."

"Not when you're stuck with a substitute who's strictly by the book," Stacie told him.

"Stacie, what about Finstock?" Sheriff asked.

"Rehab for the last seven months," Stacie answered.

"Maybe it's time to check on his progress," Sheriff told them.

Stiles and Stacie exchanged a look, nodding in agreement.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Stepping Stones, Beacon Hills Rehabilitation Center

Scott, Stiles, Stacie and Ari went to the rehab that Coach was in, walking up to the door.

Stiles looked around in confusion.

Ari pointed at Coach on the couch.

Stacie sighed. "Oh, my God." They walked inside, walking toward Coach. Coach looked up blankly at the ceiling. "What?"

Stiles and Scott sat on the couch on either side of Coach.

Stacie and Ari sat on the table in front of Coach.

"Hey, Coach," Scott told him. He stammered. "It's Scott, Stiles, Stacie and Ari."

Coach looked up blankly at the ceiling.

Ari waved her hand in front of his face, getting no response.

"Coach, you're in rehab," Stiles told him. "You didn't have a lobotomy."

"Coach?" Ari asked.

Ari looked behind her to the chess game, looking at Coach, reaching for a chess piece.

Coach reached out to grab Ari's wrist to stop her. "Don't you touch it, Ari. I've got Nurse Gonzalez by the balls of the last three moves." He chuckled, letting Ari go. "And she knows it."

"Let it go," Ari told him. "You're checking out of this place, now."

"Not a chance," Coach told them.

"Okay, Coach," Scott told him. "But we know you're fine."

Coach shushed them loudly. "I have a debilitating disease. It's called 'I'm not going to take another arrow to my stomach' phobia. Look it up. Or what about genius Ari, have you heard of that?"

"Nobody's shooting arrows at anyone, okay?" Scott asked. "We just need you to coach the charity game. Okay?"

Coach scoffed. "Charity? Not a chance."

"How exactly have you been conning them into letting you stay here?" Stacie asked.

"I, uh, I have relapses," Coach told them unconvincingly. "It's--it's serious. I've had seven of them."

"So once a month?" Ari asked.

"Yeah," Coach answered. "You see, uh, every time they are just about to discharge me..." He clicked his tongue. "I relapse."

"And no one's noticed that pattern?" Stiles asked.

"I have phenomenal health insurance," Coach told them smugly. "So why don't you guys get the hell out of here? I hate charity games. They're meaningless."

"I don't think the charities would agree," Stiles told him.

"What's it for this year?" Coach asked.

"Cancer," Scott answered.

"For or against?" Coach asked.

"Against, Coach," Stacie answered in a duh voice, wondering what the hell was wrong with him. "Deeply against."

"Yeah, okay, well, I'm deeply not interested," Coach told them, gesturing for them to leave, whistling.

"Coach, we need you," Ari told him.

"I will never coach there again," Coach told them.

"That's okay," Stiles told him.

Ari nodded. "Yeah."

Scott nodded in agreement. "Because we don't actually need you to coach the game."

"We need you to forfeit," Stacie told him.

Coach looked between Scott, Stiles, Stacie and Ari in confusion, now seeming interested.

Argent Bunker

Lydia and Angel had taken Jordan to Chris and Gerard in the Argent bunker.

Jordan was sitting in a chair.

Angel knelt in front of him, looking at the slashes in his chest. "Ah, he's healing. Slowly."

"Can you tell us what you remember?" Gerard asked.

"Just bits and pieces," Jordan told them. "Moments when I caught up with it."

"What else do you remember?" Chris asked.

"I was losing," Jordan answered.

Lydia looked at Chris and Gerard. "You said you could help them."

"We have an idea or two," Gerard told them.

"We've been wondering if resolving these internal conflicts you're having could help resolve the external one you're losing against the Beast," Chris told them.

Angel rolled her eyes. "And what internal conflict am I having?"

"The kind that won't allow you to access your full potential," Chris answered. "You said that the Dread Doctors did something to you on your birthday."

Angel nodded in agreement. "You think that they did something to me that makes me unable to do everything that I'm supposed to do?"

"Yes," Chris answered. "And we think that we can reverse it."

"It's time the two of you had a proper introduction with your alter egos," Gerard told them.

They walked into another room.

"How are you going to do that?" Lydia asked.

"With this," Chris answered.

They followed his gaze to a machine big enough to fit someone inside.

Angel looked at it in curious shock, not knowing what it could do.

¤•¤°¤•¤

¤•¤°¤•¤

Night - Beacon Hills High School - Lacrosse Field

Natalie and Liam walked up to the lacrosse field.

Liam was already in uniform.

The news vans were setting up to film the charity game.

Students from Devenford Prep, including Brett, walked off the bus.

The lights turned on all around the field.

Natalie and Liam looked around, looking at each other, sighing.

"You know, Natalie, you were right earlier about there being almost zero regular games around here," Liam told her.

"Oh, really?" Natalie asked sarcastically.

Liam smiled. "Natalie, let me finish. I just really wish there would be one normal game around here." Natalie nodded in agreement. "Natalie, with that said... you ready for this, Natalie?"

Natalie shrugged. "As ready as we'll ever be."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Argent Bunker

Lydia, Angel, Chris, Gerard and Jordan were standing outside of the machine.

Chris was explaining what the machine would do. "It'll bring your body temperature down to a level that would kill a normal human being."

"Why down and not up?" Jordan asked.

"Something happens to people like you when the body cools to extreme temperatures," Chris told them. "Everything slows down. The heart, the mind. It lets you consciously access a part of you that's usually unconscious."

"The supernatural part," Gerard told them.

"But that's dangerous, isn't it?" Lydia asked.

"Well, it's far less dangerous than if the deputy and the young Angel here can't evolve to face the Beast," Gerard told them.

"Evolve?" Angel repeated.

"Well, the Beast is not just getting smarter," Chris told them. "Imagine it this way. Each night, the teenage Chimera..."

"The success," Lydia told them.

Chris nodded. "This teenager goes out into the night and transforms. Whether it's a young man or young woman, they become a Werewolf. A very large, very powerful Werewolf the people of Gevaudan called the Beast. Every night it transforms, it remembers a little more of who it used to be."

"It years for its identity," Gerard told them. "Its name. Not just the Beast of Gevaudan, but the man."

"The man of Gevaudan, who wants to live, too," Chris told them. "Who wants to exist. So imagine that one night, the teenager goes out and transforms again. But when the Beast transforms back, the man of Gevaudan stands there instead."

"Fully realized," Gerard told them. "Alive once again."

"That's what Valack meant," Lydia told them. "He said, 'When the Beast remembers, the teenager would be gone'."

"Gone?" Angel repeated. "Like, no longer exists? How's that even possible?" They didn't answer. Angel remembered that all of their lives described the impossible, shaking her head. "Forget I asked."

Chris opened the machine.

Jordan looked at Angel. "I'll go first." Angel looked at him. "Just to know the dangers before or if you do it."

Angel nodded understandingly.

Jordan walked into the machine.

Chris closed the door to the machine, turning it on.

Fog entered the machine.

Jordan looked around.

The fog completely covered him from view.

Jordan put a hand to the glass.

Angel stepped forward worriedly.

Gerard pulled Angel back.

Jordan's eyes started to glow with fire through the fog.

Beacon Hills High School - Empty Classroom

The pack, minus Angel and Lydia, but plus Mason, were meeting in the empty classroom.

Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari, Liam and Kira were in their lacrosse uniforms.

"Mason, you know your part," Scott told him.

Mason nodded. "Cory and I break into the Devenford bus and search their shoes."

"Malia and I take out the TV vans," Tara told them.

"Right before the whistle, Coach forfeits the game," Stiles told them.

"The rest of us are looking for a size 10 with a bloody sole," Natalie told them.

"Just out of curiosity, what if it doesn't work?" Malia asked. "What if we have to go up against this thing? I mean, I hate to bring up bad memories, but Scott's still healing from when Ari killed him."

Stiles and Stacie gave Malia a look.

Ari looked down guiltily, sadly.

"No, he's not," Tara told them.

"Tara's right," Scott told them. Ari looked at him in confusion. Scott pulled up his shirt to reveal that his chest was healed. "It happened that night when we got Lydia out of Eichen." He lowered his shirt, looking at Ari. "When you changed and you told me to fight back. When you roared. Ari, you healed me."

Ari put her hands to her head in relief.

Adriana smiled, wrapping an arm around Ari's shoulders. "Deep breath, Ari." They all smiled. "We're all together again. We're a pack."

Ari lowered her arms, looking at Scott apologetically in relief.

Scott nodded.

"The Beast doesn't have a pack," Stacie told them.

Ari shook her head. "Not like us, Stacie. We can do this, guys. No one dies tonight."

Outside - Lacrosse Field

(Song:) What We Live For - Bass Jackers & Afrojack

The game was about to start.

Everyone who was involved in the game was getting ready, pulling on their helmets, grabbing their lacrosse sticks, throwing practice shots.

Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari and Liam sat on the bench together, all of them not wearing their helmets yet. They looked from the Devenford Prep team toward Coach, looking at each other, nodding.

Stacie stood, walking toward Coach. "Hey, Coach? Now is the time to, uh, forfeit the game." Coach didn't answer. "Now is the perfect time to forfeit the game. You gotta... Coach?"

"Stacie, I've never forfeited a game," Coach told her. "And I never will." He chuckled. "Get on the field, Stacie."

Coach blew the whistle.

Scott, Stiles, Ari, Liam and Stacie looked at each other in disbelief.

Scott, Stiles, Ari and Liam stood.

The Devenford team ran onto the field.

Coach smirked.

(Song:) Shelter - Lyves

Theo was making his way out of the woods, to the treeline of the lacrosse field, watching, obviously thinking that the Beast might show.

Brett and Adriana were talking nearby the bleachers.

Brett didn't have his helmet on yet. "Hey, Adriana. My sister's got the bleachers covered." They looked toward Brett's sister, Lori. Brett looked at Adriana. "She wanted to do this because you saved her life from the assassins."

"All right," Adriana told him. Lori was looking at people's shoes from under the bleachers. Brett turned to walk onto the field. "Brett, wait." Brett stopped, turning to Adriana. "Whatever happens, whatever happened, or whatever is happening right now... I'm in a dark place right now, because of someone from my past." Theo stopped when he saw them, listening. "But only a few people get me to the place in the middle that I was before. That's my sister Ari, my cousin Lydia, my friends Natalie and Stacie... and that's you." Brett smiled a small smile, nodding, turning to leave. Adriana caught his arm, putting her other hand on his cheek, pulling him into a slow, deep, passionate kiss for a long moment. Brett responded instantly. They pulled away after a moment. Adriana smiled a small smile. "For good luck. God knows we're all gonna need it."

Brett smirked, pulling on his helmet, turning around, running onto the field.

Adriana looked dark and contemplative, turning away toward the bleachers, but stopped when she saw Theo by the treeline, knowing that he had seen and heard them. Theo looked annoyed, even a little jealous, rolling his eyes. Adriana sighed, turning toward the bleachers, walking toward Natalie in the stands, so they could help Lori look for the bloody shoes underneath the bleachers.

Theo watched her, noticing that Adriana was resisting from tracing her tattoo, smirking knowingly, turning around, walking away.

(Song Ends)

Natalie saw Theo walking away and leaving, looking at Adriana. "You know what you're doing there, Adriana?"

"Nope," Adriana answered.

"Adri, do you wanna talk about it?" Natalie asked.

"Nope," Adriana answered.

Natalie sighed. "Adriana..."

"I said I don't wanna talk about it, Natalie," Adriana told her.

Natalie nodded in understanding. "Okay, Adri."

They continued to look.

Scott, Ari and Liam ran out onto the field, wearing their helmets, having their sticks.

"All right, it's fine," Scott told them. "Tara and Malia still going to take out the wiring on the TV vans."

"And we have an hour and a half to try to find someone with blood on their shoes," Ari told them.

"One person out of 400," Liam told them.

Stiles, Stacie and Sheriff were talking on the sidelines.

"What if we called in a bomb threat?" Stiles asked.

"You remember the bomb threat at the airport three weeks ago?" Sheriff asked.

"Yeah, of course I do," Stacie answered. "It was all over the news." Sheriff tilted his head. Stacie nodded. "I see your point."

Brett and Scott were setting up to take the first ball.

The referee blew the whistle.

Brett used the stick to pick up the ball, running toward his goal.

Scott followed him in a run.

Devenford Prep Bus

Cory and Mason broke into the Devenford Prep bus.

"Okay, let's just try to do it quiet..." Mason trailed off when the noise from Cory breaking open the door was a loud clang. "Ly. Okay, come on."

They walked into the bus, beginning to go through the players' bags, searching for the shoe. With each bag, Mason marked off one of the players on his phone.

"No blood," Cory told him.

"You see a name on the bag?" Mason asked.

Cory looked around the bag until he found a name. "Martinez, B."

Mason marked the name off.

They continued on.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Lacrosse Field

Tara was kneeling up on one of the TV vans, ripping out the wires.

Malia was kneeling up on another TV van, ripping out the wires.

The game continued.

Lori, Natalie and Adriana were checking people's shoes from underneath the bleachers.

Kira slammed a guy to the ground, having the ball, running toward their goal, throwing the ball past the goalie into the net.

Everyone cheered.

Ari and Stacie were talking on the field.

"You think she's playing a tad aggressive?" Stacie asked.

Ari nodded. "Duh, Stacie." Kira swung the lacrosse stick like a sword. Ari and Stacie looked at the three guys behind them on the ground, writhing in pain. Kira walked toward them. Her eyes were glowing a dark gold. Ari took a breath. "Stacie, we might have a problem."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Argent Bunker

Lydia, Angel, Chris and Gerard were standing outside of the machine, looking inside of it to see Jordan still in the fog inside.

Angel looked at Chris and Gerard. "Is he okay?"

"Talk to him," Chris told her. "This part is for you, Angel. You're the one who can reach him."

Angel stepped closer to the machine. "Uncle Jordan?"

"No," the Hellhound answered.

"Okay," Angel told him. "Who am I talking to?"

"Cerberus," the Hellhound answered. "Garmr. Black Shuck. I've had many names."

"How about Jordan Parrish?" Lydia asked.

The Hellhound didn't answer.

"Do you know who I am?" Angel asked.

"The Valkyrie," the Hellhound answered.

"What about Jordan Parrish?" Angel asked. "Why is it you and not him? What happened to my uncle?"

"Jordan Parrish died," the Hellhound told them. "There is no Jordan Parrish."

Chris, Gerard and Lydia were confused.

Angel backed away from the machine.

Beacon Hills High School - Lacrosse Field

Kira was running on the field, taking out on guy in her way, then another, running past.

The referee blew his whistle.

Coach winced. "That girl is damn serious about charity."

Ari ran up to Kira, taking off her helmet. "Kira, maybe you should ease up on the other players."

"I'm trying to win," Kira told her coldly.

"But you didn't even have the ball," Ari told her.

Kira looked from the guys on the ground behind her to Ari. Her voice was distorted like the fox inside of her. "Stay out of my way."

Kira pushed past Ari, walking away.

Scott walked up to Ari. "Ari. Go with the backup plan with Tara, Natalie and Adriana?"

"Go with the backup plan with Tara, Natalie and Adriana," Ari answered.

Scott and Ari pulled on their helmets.

The whistle blew.

The referee put the ball on the ground in the middle of the field. "Down." Brett and Stacie knelt for the ball, nodding to each other. "Set."

The referee blew his whistle.

Stacie let Brett take the ball.

Brett ran past toward the goal.

Kira ran toward Brett. Brett took her down.

Kira sat up.

Brett turned to face Kira. "Not so tough now, are you?"

Kira stood, hitting Brett in the face with the lacrosse stick, but his mask mostly protected him, making him fall.

The referee walked up to Kira. "You, you're done. Get off the field."

Kira glared at everyone, walking off the field.

Liam knelt next to Brett. "That was perfect. Thanks, dude."

Liam stood, running off.

Brett shook his head, lying his head back on the ground.

Kira walked toward the bleachers, speaking in Japanese. "Dono yo na taikutsuna gemu. [What a dull game.]"

Stacie watched Kira go from the field, talking in her normal voice, knowing they would hear her. "Tara, Natalie, Adriana, you're up."

Natalie and Adriana walked out from under the bleachers, looking toward Tara. Tara jumped off of the TV van she had finished taking out, nodding. The three of them followed Kira toward the school. "Got it, Stacie."

"Adri, Nattie, Tara, good luck," Stacie told them.

Adriana and Natalie looked back as they continued on. "You, too, Stace."

The game continued.

Malia took out another TV van, jumping toward the last one. Someone grabbed her ankle, pulling down, making her head hit the van, and making her fall to the ground.

Malia looked up to see Corinne standing over her, glaring. "Bitch."

"I prefer 'Mom'," Corinne told her.

Malia glared.

Inside - Hallway

Kira walked into the hallway.

Natalie, Tara and Adriana followed her.

Tara was speaking in Japanese. "Daijobedesuka? [Are you okay?]"

Kira stopped walking, obviously not Kira at the moment, but the fox inside her, speaking in Japanese, looking over her shoulder toward Natalie, Tara and Adriana. "Okami otoko wa kinugawa ni nihongo a hanasou to shite imasu ka? [Is a Werewolf trying to speak Japanese to a Kitsune?]"

Kira turned to face the three girls.

Tara tilted her head slightly, speaking in Japanese. "Kono okami otoko wa anata no futsu no okami yori mo haruka ni oku o shitte imasu. [This Werewolf knows a lot more than your ordinary wolf.]"

"We can take you," Adriana told her.

Kira tossed her helmet and her uniform aside, using her lacrosse stick to hit Natalie in the face. Natalie punched her in the face, making her spin away. Kira pulled her hair out of her face, turning to face Natalie, swinging her lacrosse stick toward Natalie. Natalie ducked. Kira used the stick to push Adriana against the wall. Adriana grabbed the stick, running forward, pushing Kira against the lockers on the other side of the hall, using it to spin her around, pushing her into the trophy case, making it shatter, and making Kira and the trophies and the glass fall to the floor.

"Okay, Kira, maybe we can just talk this out," Natalie told her.

Tara chuckled. "Natalie, love your optimism."

"Yeah," Adriana agreed. "Try to keep it, would you, Natalie?"

Kira stood. Tara walked closer, kicking Kira through the door into the girls' locker room. Natalie and Adriana exchanged a look, following them, closing the door behind them.

Lacrosse Field

Malia and Corinne were confronting each other behind the TV vans.

"To be honest, I'm totally up for killing you right now," Malia told her. "But I've got other priorities."

"I can see that," Corinne told her. "You and your cousin Tara got something against the local news? Somebody put out a broadcast you didn't like?"

"Somebody's about to," Malia told her.

Corinne smirked. "Speaking of Tara, where is she? I was hoping she would be here."

"So you could try and kill Tara again too, right?" Malia asked. "You might be willing and able to kill Tara anytime you want, but that's not gonna happen tonight. And since I know you're not going to try to kill me until there's a full moon, get out of my way." She tried to get to the last van. Corinne stepped in her way. Malia glared at her. "People are going to die."

"People die every day, sweetheart," Corinne told her.

"Stop calling me that," Malia told her in annoyance. "You don't get to call me sweetheart."

"All right," Corinne told her. "What if there's a compromise? What if you come with me? We can try to solve our little predicament and maybe I start calling you 'daughter'."

Malia glared at her. "I'm going to kill you."

Corinne smirked. "You're definitely my daughter."

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Waiting Room

While at work, Melissa and Macey were talking over files.

"I thought we'd exhausted all the possibilities," Melissa told her.

"According to Lydia, Valack said there's got to be another," Macey told her.

"Specifically another genetic Chimera?" Melissa asked. "Someone with two sets of DNA?"

Macey nodded. "Someone we overlooked. Someone with blood on a size ten shoe."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills High School - Devenford Prep Bus

Mason and Cory were still looking through the shoes on the bus, marking them out on Mason's phone.

Mason sighed. "25 pairs of shoes. No blood." They heard the door squeaking. Cory grabbed Mason, putting his hand on a bus seat next to them, using his supernatural ability to make them both become invisible. The player grabbed something from his bag, walking out, leaving. Mason and Cory became visible again. They looked at each other. "We should go."

"Yeah," Cory told him.

Mason and Cory started to make out, but Cory suddenly stopped, pulling away.

"What's wrong?" Mason asked.

Cory shook his head. "Nothing. I'm okay. Come on."

Cory nervously led the way to the front of the bus so they could leave.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Lacrosse Field

The game continued.

Ari got the ball, running down the field. A Devenford prep guy ran toward Ari, trying to take her down. Ari rammed her shoulder into his, making him flip through the air and fall to the ground, running toward the goal. Another guy ran toward Ari. Ari spun around him, throwing the ball into the goal, hitting the net.

Now the score was 2 - 5.

Scott, Stacie and Liam ran up to Ari.

"We're getting crushed," Liam told them.

"It's okay," Scott told them. "All we need to do is give the others enough time. Like we said. No one's getting hurt."

Stacie shrugged.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Inside - Girls' Locker Room

Tara pushed Kira face first against a grate. Kira used her lacrosse stick to hit Tara in the stomach, making her let go. Tara backed away. Kira turned to face Natalie, breaking the net off of her stick to use it as a staff. Natalie picked up a lacrosse stick, swinging it toward Kira. Kira used her stick to block the move, swinging it toward Natalie. Natalie ducked, swinging the net toward her stomach. Kira backed away enough to make her miss. Adriana spun to kick Kira in the chest, making her back away. Kira ran toward Adriana, using her stick to push Adriana back against the lockers behind her. Adriana picked up another lacrosse stick to push Kira's stick away from her, making an X shape. Kira's eyes were glowing a dark gold. Adriana let her eyes glow purple, growling angrily, using her stick to push Kira back away from her.

Tara and Natalie saw that Adriana was becoming tempted and overcome by darkness and anger inside of her, trying to take over most of the fight before Adriana did something she would regret. "Adriana..."

Kira kicked Adriana's lacrosse stick, breaking it in half, swinging her stick through Natalie's stick breaking it in half. Tara picked up another lacrosse stick, breaking it over her knee to use in the fight. Kira swung her stick toward Tara. Tara spun out of the way. Kira got her stick stuck in the grate, pulling it out, swinging it toward Natalie. Natalie used both halves of her stick to deflect the blow, using them to grab Kira's stick, hitting them against the grate next to them. Kira tried to pull her stick free. Natalie used one half of her stick to hit Kira in the face, making her spin away toward Tara and Adriana, who both hit Kira with both halves of their sticks. Kira looked at the three of them around her furiously, breaking her stick in half like theirs, breathing heavily, smirking.

Natalie sighed, tilting her head. "Seriously? Can't we just talk instead of fight? No? Okay."

"Natalie, there's optimism, and then there's delusional," Tara told her.

"Thanks, Tara," Natalie told her sarcastically.

Kira swung one half of her stick toward Natalie, and the other half of her stick toward Adriana. Natalie and Adriana used on half of their sticks to block the moves. Kira spun around to swing one half of her stick toward Tara. Tara used both halves of her stick to block the move, spinning to try to kick Kira. Kira ducked, standing, trying to hit Natalie, Adriana and Tara with both halves of her stick in a blur of motion. Natalie, Adriana and Tara used both halves of their sticks to block the moves just as fast. Tara used both halves of her stick to catch one of Kira's. Kira headbutted Tara to make her let go. Temporarily consumed by the darkness in herself, Adriana ran toward Kira, tackling her into the coach's office, making them both land on the desk, both of them losing both pieces of their lacrosse sticks in the process. Adriana stood, grabbing Kira, pushing her through the door into the hallway, making her fall to the floor.

Tara was frustrated because she had known that she was going to lose control but couldn't stop it before it happened. "Adriana!"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Hallway

Adriana walked into the hallway to stand over Kira, punching her in the face repeatedly, in frustration and sadness, not aimed at Kira, but at everything else.

Natalie and Tara ran into the hallway, dropping their halves of their lacrosse sticks.

"Adriana, stop it," Tara told her. "Natalie, help me."

Adriana didn't seem to know what was happening, just continued to punch Kira, in a blind rage of darkness and anger.

Tara and Natalie pulled Adriana away from Kira, using all of their strength combined to pull Adriana off, considering that Adriana was stronger than both of them.

Natalie turned Adriana to face her, holding her by the shoulders to calm her down. "Adri, look at me! Stop, Adri."

Adriana looked horrified by how close she got to actually hurting Kira because of the dark urges inside of her because of the balance being broken between her and Ari, with the wolfsbane shot from Theo clearly having worn off by now.

Tara and Natalie were understanding but concerned and worried.

Kira stood, walking toward Tara, letting her eyes glow a dark gold, trying to backhand punch her. Tara caught her wrist. Kira tried to punch Tara with her other arm. Tara caught that arm, pushing Kira away. Kira started to glow with Kitsune aura.

Adriana turned to face them, shifting partially, letting her eyes glow purple and her canines grow, roaring Kira's name in an Alpha roar to get through to her instead of the fox. "Kira!"

Kira shifted back to human, as the Kitsune aura faded into nothing.

Kira closed her eyes. She opened them. They weren't glowing. She seemed to be herself again, looking confused. "Oh, my God. What did I do?"

Adriana, Tara and Natalie didn't answer.

Tara and Natalie sighed in relief that Adriana had gotten through to her through the Alpha roar, though they were worried by how close Adriana had come to severely hurting Kira because of her own dark impulses now, looking toward Adriana.

Adriana looked down guiltily, coldly and numbly, trying not to feel a thing.

Lacrosse Field

The game continued on.

The referee blew the whistle, waving his hands. "Time out."

Brett, Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari and Liam took off their helmets, walking together.

"We need more time," Scott told them. "We got to get the game into overtime."

"Then you guys gotta keep scoring and catch up," Brett told them. "Try not sucking."

Brett walked away, leaving.

The crowd cheered.

The players ran back onto the field.

"Something's wrong," Stiles told them. "I don't think Malia's got all the vans."

"Then we'll get her more time," Stacie told them.

"How the hell are we going to do that?" Liam asked.

"We'll even up the score," Stacie answered.

"Once again, how the hell are we going to do that?" Liam asked.

Ari looked at Scott. "Just get me the ball."

They pulled on their helmets, running to join the teams.

(Song:) Mic Check - GTA & TJR

Scott and a Devenford player were kneeling for the ball.

The referee blew the whistle.

Scott took the ball, running across the field. A player ran toward him. Scott spun around him, tossing Ari the ball. Ari caught it, running toward the goal, tossing it past the goal, hitting the net.

Everyone cheered.

The score was 3 - 5

Coach smiled.

Stiles pulled off his helmet.

The team congratulated Ari with pats on the back. One hit Ari's ass. Ari turned to point the net at him. The player backed away instantly.

Stacie laughed in amusement.

Stiles ran over to the bleachers.

By the TV vans, Corinne was questioning Malia. "You really think you're going to make a difference, don't you? Who are you trying to save out here? A bunch of random people? Your little high school friends?"

Stacie and a Devenford knelt for the ball.

The referee blew the whistle.

Stacie took the ball, running across the field, past the players. Scott and Ari ran along with Stacie on either side, knocking down two players that were coming at Stacie from either side.

Stacie threw the ball past the goalie into the net.

The score was 4 - 5.

Everyone cheered.

Coach clapped, nodding.

The whistle blew.

Stiles was underneath the bleachers, looking at people's shoes for bloody soles. He was looking at Sydney's shoes, trying to subtly lift her foot up to look.

Sydney pulled her foot away.

Stiles looked up at Sydney through the bleacher seat. He got frustrated, pulling her foot back to look at the sole, hitting his head on the bleachers, backing away, holding his head in pain, walking out from under the bleachers.

Sydney looked under the bleachers, but she didn't see anything.

Stiles fainted.

Argent Bunker

Lydia, Angel, Chris and Gerard were still standing outside the machine, talking into it to talk to Jordan.

Angel looked at Jordan/The Hellhound. "What are you talking about? How is Jordan dead?"

"You both died when you burned alive," the Hellhound told her. "You're bodies. Means to an end. The Hellhound and the Valkyrie are beyond life and death. Infinite. I have no use for your uncle. The Valkyrie has no use for you."

"But we do," Lydia told him. "We need them."

"Your deputy won't kill the Beast," the Hellhound told them.

"Neither will you," Lydia told him. "I'm a harbinger of death, too. I know people are going to die. And if you do not let Parrish in, he will die, too. You'll die! You have a chance with Parrish and Angel. You need both Angel and Parrish."

The Hellhound started to roar and struggle.

Lydia pulled Angel away from the machine.

Jordan fell out of the machine.

Angel ran closer, kneeling next to him. "Are you all right?"

"I know who I am," Jordan told them. "I know what I have to do. I have to leave."

Angel and Lydia looked at him in confusion.

Beacon Hills High School - Lacrosse Field

The game continued on.

Scott jumped into the air, throwing the ball into the goal, falling to the ground.

Coach and the crowd cheered.

The score was 5 - 5.

The last seconds of the game ticked down to 0.

The referee blew his whistle. "That's overtime."

Coach ran over to Scott. "Get up, idiot. We could win this thing."

By the vans, Malia glared at Corinne. "You want to do this now? Fine."

Malia flicked out her claws.

Corinne looked past Malia toward where Stiles was getting up from where he had fainted. "It's him, isn't it? That's the one."

Malia followed her gaze to Stiles. She looked back toward Corinne, but she had disappeared. She jumped up onto the last TV van, ripping the wires, jumping down to the ground, smiling.

A TV man looked at Kathleen Cassidy. "We're back up."

"Perfect," Kathleen told him. "This thing's a nail-biter. Let's roll tape."

Kathleen hit the button on her microphone.

There was very, very loud feedback through the TV vans, making them spark uncontrollably.

Everyone had to cover their ears in pain.

The feedback came to a stop.

Coach cringed. "Should have stayed in rehab."

"Oh, God, what was that?" Liam asked.

"Something bad," Stacie answered. "Very bad."

The players took off their helmets.

They heard distant growling.

Scott and Ari looked toward that direction, exchanging a look, dropping their helmets and their lacrosse sticks, taking off their gloves, letting them fall, letting their eyes glow red, running in the direction of the buses, where the growling was coming from. (Slow motion)

Liam, Stiles and Stacie ran after them.

"Ari!" Stacie told her.

"Scott, wait!" Stiles told him.

The Beast jumped over the bus toward them.

Scott and Ari jumped over the bus toward the Beast, slashing into his chest.

Inside - Hallway

People were running into the school, screaming, horrified, terrified and confused, running past Kira, Tara, Natalie and Adriana.

The Beast ran inside toward them.

Tara grabbed Kira while Adriana grabbed Natalie, both of them pulling the other two girls into an empty classroom before they could be trampled, following them, closing the door.

The Beast ran past the door.

Kira breathed heavily in confusion. "What... what was that?"

Adriana slowly opened the door, stepping out into the hallway.

There were four long, giant slashes in the wall across the hall.

Tara and Natalie followed Adriana out into the hallway. They exchanged a look, knowing that if someone didn't stop the Beast, a lot of people were going to die.
