"Hwa-young ?"

Sooyoung muttered as she stared at her best friend in shock whom she thought as dead. The girl looked quite different from before. Her irises which were once brown were now a mixed shade of red and grey. Her skin had become paler than before and her eyes had lost all the emotions. The bright smile on her face was missing as she stared at her best friend who stood on the rooftop of the school.

Sooyoung broke out of her trance when she saw Namra walk over to the girl. She huffed as she turned around and started running down the stairs of her ruined school.

"Hwa-young-ah please stay...."

She whispered under her breath with tears in her eyes. She increased her speed as she neared the exit of the school building. She quickly ran out and saw Hwa-young starting to walk away with Namra towards the exit of the school premises.

"No...No...You cannot go away like that.....HWA-YOUNG !!!"

She cried out as she chased the two girls, who had stopped in their track. She slowed down as she neared them, her heart was beating out of her chest as she held herself from breaking down. She slowly walked near Hwa-young who was staring at her with no emotions in her eyes.

"Lee Hwa-young....where were you ? Why didn't you come back ?"

Sooyoung said as she hugged her best friend tightly and started sobbing softly in her embrace. Hwa-young stood still as she turned to Namra who stared at her in confusion. Hwa-young sighed before pulling away from the hug.

"I am sorry but...who are you ?"

Sooyoung stared at her wide eyed as she glanced at Namra for explanation. She could hear her heart shatter as she stared at the pale girl infront of her with tears in her eyes.

"W-What do y-you mean ? I-I am your b-best friend...Oh S-Sooyoung."

"I am sorry but I don't seem to know you Ms Oh. Now if you excuse us."

Hwa-young said and turned around while pulling a confused Namra with her towards the exit of the hell hole. Sooyoung was frozen at her place as she refused to believe the conversation that took place between the them.

"SOOYOUNG-AH !!"

Mi-jin shouted as she ran towards the girl. She stopped right next to her with her hands on her knees.

"Its been a while I have ran like this....feels nostalgic."

She huffed and tried to catch her breath but stopped when she saw tears flowing down Sooyoung's face who was staring at the gate of the school grounds wordlessly. Her eyebrows furrowed in worry as she stood up straight and turned towards the younger.

"What happened ?"

"H-Hwa-young d-doesn't remember a-anything...."

"What ?!?"

Mi-jin shouts startling the others who were standing just a few feet away from the girls. They watch as Mi-jin embraces the girl who breaks down in her arms almost immediately. Her painful sobs filling the atmosphere making the others also tear up at the unexpected situation.

"Hwa-young-ah lets go"

Namra muttered as she pulled the girl whose eyes were filled with unshed tears while staring at her best friend break down because of no one but herself. Her mind replaying the memories of their happy times were like a cage making Hwa-young unable to escape from them. Its the truth that...

The hardest prison to escape is your own mind

Hwa-young turned around and walked away pulling Namra with her before she broke down completely. The two didn't talk much and slowly got lost into the darkness of the night with no intention to turn back and reunite with their friends tonight.

"Sooyoung-ah its getting late already...lets go"

Suhyeok said as he helped the girl stand up on her feet. He turned towards Mi-jin and signalled her to follow them and started walking with Sooyoung in his arms. Mi-jin rolled her eyes and stood up as she mumbled a small 'ouch' after kneeling on the rocky ground for so long.

They started walking towards the construction site to return along the same path that helped them meet their friends again and unlocking another bad memory for Sooyoung. They had to return before they would be caught.

"Lets move faster"

Hari announced as she led the group towards the wall of the rescue camp. Everybody nodded before following the elder without much questioning. They knew the sensitivity of the situation and the emotions Sooyoung was facing at the moment.

Hyo-ryung who was supporting Sooyoung occasionally rubbed her back in a soothing manner when she heard the girl sniff from time to time. The others except Mi-jin didn't have any idea about the conversation that took place between the two best friends but decided not to question anything from the sad looks of the girl.

"I'll explain everything tomorrow morning."

Sooyoung muttered when she finally broke out of her trance infront of the door of the dorm that she lived in. She tried to force a smile when she received hesitant nods from the others and turned towards the door, Hari following her as she was her roommate.

"I will be fine....don't worry too much"

She lastly said and quickly entered the house leaving Hari behind. The girl sighed and stared at the group before waving them a goodbye.

"I will take care of her. You all go to your rooms quietly. Do not get caught for god's sake."

She said while staring at Hyunjin and Mi-jin.

"Tsk...Tsk...Just go to your room old woman."

Hyunjin teasingly said and nudged Hari on her shoulder. The girl glared at him and turned around before entering the house as well.

"You know what babe...Hari is the same age as you"

Min-jae said as he wrapped his arm around Hyunjin's thin waist. The boy gave him a side eye and elbowed him in the stomach before walking away to their dorm sassily.

"Find yourself some place to sleep tonight Jung Min-jae because I am not letting you in."

Min-jae's eyes widened as he ran after his boyfriend begging him to sleep at their place. Mi-jin stared at the duo in disbelief as she shook her head in disappointment.

"Today was fucked up. Good Night guys !! See you tomorrow if I survive this hell of a life."

She almost shouted as she entered her assigned room. The others soon dispersed with multiple questions in mind and fatigue in their eyes.

How are you all ?

So...I decided to continue a season two for this book....weird right ? But something just clicked in my mind and I had to work as per my intrusive thoughts 🙂 
Anyways what do you think about this chapter...why do you think Hwa-young denied remembering anything about Sooyoung 👀

Just a snip for this season : This season will be based on Hambies (ig that was already clear) anyways....it will focus more on emotions than any zombie shit and I don't think there will be a lot many chapters for Season 2 but Stay Tuned for further updates.

WARNING : Updates will be quite slow since I also have loads of school work pending 😃 Indian Eduction system sucks...but I will try to be as fast as I can since I just finished my exams 🥳
