Chapter 7

It was Monday and Monday meant school. Kim woke up a little early, it was probably an hour till sunrise. She checked her phone and the time was 4:38 a.m. Kim sighed. She sat on her bed, folding her knees to herself and got up after 2 minutes. She decided to go to the park. She quickly changed into her shorts and comfortable tees which revealed her waist. Her mom was still asleep. Kim didn't want to disturb her so she left her door unlocked. She kept her hands in her pocket and walked to the park.

Kim went towards a familiar area. It was the skater park where she saw Jack. She walked a few steps right from that spot. She saw the same bench on which she had her head over Jack's chest. "Gross." She murmured softly. Even while expressing the words of hate, she had a tiny smile on her face. She walked farther, her hands still in her pocket.

A bright, soft stroke of a sunray hit Kim's face. She lightly covered her eyes with her hand. The scenery in front of her was mesmerizing. She maybe never noticed how beautiful the moment of the sunrise was. She took out her phone to take a picture when she saw the time. It was 6:05 a.m. She quickly takes a pic and runs to her home. There was not enough time for school to start. And no one wants to go school late when you woke up super-early.

"Hey honey, you're back." Her mom said. "There's your cereal on the table." She added.

"I am not a kid anymore. I can't eat cereal." Kim said taking the spoon.

"Quoi d'autre, mademoiselle?" Her mother asked her.

"Nada." Kim replied.

"Good." Her mom patted Kim's head.

Kim swiftly gulped up her cereal and ran outside. '10 minutes for school to start.' This was the only thought circling in Kim's head, unless she sensed Jack skateboarding beside her.

"Hey, Kim. What's up?" Jack said while skateboarding, keeping up with Kim's speed.

"I'm sorry, Can't talk right now." Kim said. Her voice was trembling because she was running.

"Climb on, we'll get there in a minute." He offered.

"No, thanks." She denied.

"Common, if you run that far in 4 minutes, you'll toast your feet." He said.

"Fine." Kim said and hopped on behind him.

"Hold on tight." He said and increased his speed like crazy. "Jack, I think you need to slow down or else I'll puke." Kim said clenching his shirt from the front. Jack had this evil smile on his face. "Don't worry." Jack said. Kim shoved her face into Jack's back and held him tighter than ever.

"Kim you're making me uncomfortable." He complained even though he enjoyed it.

"Kim, you can let go. We are at school." He said. Kim's face was still shoved in his back. "Kim." He said again.

"What?" Kim asked pulling away. "We are at school." He told her. "You can thank me later." He added.

"Shut up. You almost killed me." She told him, fixing her hair.

Jack held his hands in surrender. Kim left in a hurry, she had chemistry. She went to her locker to take out her books and made her way towards the stairs. She noticed a fold in her book which she tried to unfold while walking. Her focus was on her book so she didn't look up.

Before any other second, she found herself on the floor, her feet tangled with another person's feet. Expected.

"I am so sorry. It's all my fault." Kim said reaching her hand to help the guy.

"Not really. I was in a hurry." He said. They were still holding hands.

"Um, sorry." Both of them said.

"I am Kim."

"I'm Blake." He said. The bell interrupts. "I'll see you later, Kim." Blake sweetly smiled at her and left. She smiled too.

The bell for lunch rang. Kim walked to the cafeteria, to the same table where she sat earlier with Grace and all. She couldn't see Jack anywhere. "So, how is your cheer going?" She asked Rachel and Stephanie.

"It's good. But we need one more person. Kim, do you think you can take the tryouts?" Stephanie asked her.

"I don't know, I have never done cheer before." Kim replies.

"Doesn't matter. Come to the gymnasium after school." Rachel told her.

Kim nodded in agreement.

She suddenly saw Blake coming with some football players. She waved at him. He waved too. Grace's face was in deep surprise. "Do you know him?" She asked Kim. Kim nodded.

"Kim, he is the football captain. That's who we cheer for." Rachel told her.

So that's why he is with the Football players. Kim turned at him again and she saw him approaching her table. "Hey, Kim. I have a game tomorrow. Wanna come to watch?" Blake asked.

"I think she will cheer for you." Grace told him. "She is going for the cheer tryouts." She added.

"That's great." He said with a pretty smile on his face. "Well, I should be going now." He slightly kissed on Kim's cheek which made her blush.

"That's normal. He's half French." Stephanie told Kim. That explains the Blue-European eyes and the kiss.

Kim touched her cheek which made her blush even brighter. The whole day, she had her hand on her cheek. She impatiently waited for the day's last bell. So that she could go for the tryouts. So that she could see Blake.

The last bell rang and Kim rushed out of her homeroom to the gymnasium. She spotted Rachel and Stephanie doing some stretches. 'Hey guys" She waved at them.

"So, what do I do now?" Kim asked Rachel.

"What for your turn and blow us off with your moves and energy." She replies.

It was Kim's turn. She did a leap jump, some intermediate cheer steps and finished off with an aerial. She seemed happy with her performance. She could see Stephanie and Rachel giving her a big thumbs-up.

"Kim Crawford, welcome to the cheer squad." The coach congratulated Kim.

Stephanie and Rachel took Kim in a group hug and squealed with energy. Kim's smile grew at the thought that she was gonna cheer for Blake. The girls did some practice for tomorrow's football match.

After the practice Kim went to the football field where she saw Blake and his mates nailing it. He caught Kim's wave at him and he ran to her.

"Guess what? I'm officially gonna cheer for you." Kim squeaked with joy.

"That's awesome." He reached his hands to hug Kim but trailed off.

"I'm sorry." He said. Kim had a smiley-confused look on her face.

"Blake." A player called from the back.

"I gotta go now. I'll see you tomorrow after the match." He told her and went back to the field. No kiss this time.

Kim waved a good-bye wave at him and walked out. She had a perky smile on her lips which wouldn't go no matter how hard she tried. Suddenly her expression changed.

She saw a girl covering her face with her hands standing in front of Jack. What was going on? Kim hid behind a locker. She wanted to listen to the conversation, but only heard half of it.  "Not good enough?", "Not for me, "Stop acting", "I'm sorry." She saw Jack consoling her but she would not hear.

She picked up her bag from the floor and walked away while Jack was stationary in his place. Kim came out when she saw no one around her. She walked her way to him. He was looking at the floor.

'What do you want now?" Jack asks in an irritated manner.
