Chapter 24

2 months later...

Kim was sitting on the white bench with her head in her hands. Her body was restless and she needed to move or walk around ASAP. Another minute passed, then another, then another and another, and now she lost her temper. She got up, finally, and banged on the closed white door in front of her.

"Come out already." She screamed at Grace who was stuck inside the dressing room for the last fifteen minutes.

"Two minutes more." Her fainted reply came from behind the closed door and it annoyed Kim even more.

"That's exactly what you've been saying for the last twenty minutes." She screamed again with whatever energy she had left.

"Fifteen." Grace corrected.

Kim irritably rolled her eyes. She took her fighting stance and positioned herself to actually break the door. Fortunately, it opened before Kim's punch could make a nasty hole in it and the staffs would kick them out.

"What took you so..." She started, but taking a look at her brunette friend, her jaw dropped in astonishment. "...Grace, you look amazing." Kim complimented as her eyes repeatedly glanced her up and down.

She was wearing a spaghetti-strapped dark purple dress that reached slightly above her knees and had delicate, chiffon-fabricated purple flowers embedded all over the bodice. The decorated waistline differentiated the tulle skirt, which was puffy, but not too much, just the perfect amount and Grace's brown hair made everything stand out. She looked amazing.

"You're so buying this." Kim spoke once her impressed mouth closed again.

"I think it's a little loose. Should I-" She pinched the sides of her dress, making some space between the fabric and her skin.

"Buy it? Yes, you should." Kim cuts her off.

They proceeded to the billing counter and Grace was squeaking with joy as the lady behind the counter handed her the dress back. Kim was busy smiling over her friend's excitement.

"Let's find Steph and Rae." Grace tossed the paper bag over her shoulder and Kim nodded in approval.

Both of them walked to the second floor of Victoria's Secret and began searching for their other two friends. Kim went to the left as Grace began her search from the right.

They roamed around the floor with eyes focused as hawks. When no sign of them anywhere on the aisle, they continued their inspection in the dressing room. Rachel was sitting on the bench, probably waiting for Stephanie with a Caribbean blue gown in her hand.

"How's it going?" Grace planted her a question as she sat herself down beside her.

"Nothing. She's taking an eternity." She sighed, folding her hands to her chest.

"What takes you guys so long? You just have to put off some clothes and put them back on." Kim walked across the tiny room, agitated as usual.

The door-knob clicked opened and Stephanie revealed herself in a dress. An elegant one.

The dress was full in length, a ball-gown and it made her look tall. It was bright yellow in color, strapless and the chiffon ruffles and dark brown hair made her look like a Disney princess. The golden sequins were carelessly embedded on the waistline, having no clear seam line, and some golden patterns decorated the bodice. The embellishment was done very carelessly, but it looked fabulous. She looked fabulous.

"You look..." Grace was speechless.

"... just like Belle." Kim completed her sentence and Steph's cheek turned in a bright shade of pink. She exactly looked like Belle.

"You've got to get this." Rachel exclaimed.

"I know. I love it." Stephanie squealed as her joined fists found a way to her chest.

She set off to the billing counter, dragging Grace along with her. It was Rachel's turn to heat the dressing room now. She innocently looked at Kim, and she rolled her eyes. "Go on. But please don't take an eternity to come out."  She narrowed her eyes at the last part, pleading

Rachel nodded and went inside. Kim was alone, left to sigh and roll her eyes in the tiny room, waiting for her other two friends to return.

Kim was on the point of falling asleep when the door opened, making her nearly fall of the tiny bench. She blinked her eyes only to see Rachel in the dress she earlier had in her hands.

The thin straps allowed her prominent collarbone to be very visible and dark blue perfectly contrasted with her light skin. The bodice was decorated with a patterned lace fabric of the same colour. The three-layered, asymmetrical tulle skirt enhanced her slim waist and her black hair curled into ringlets was a cherry on top. If added with a pearl necklace, nothing would stop her from looking like an angel.

It was long, beautiful, and she looked gorgeous.

"We have our Cinderella." Grace said, impressed.

"Totally." Kim and Steph say in unison.

Four of them walked to the billing counter. Once they were done, Kim popped in front of them. "Now that you all have your dresses," She sweetly starts. "Let's get the heck out of here." And she was back.

"No." The three of them sternly reply to her.

"Why not?"

"You didn't buy yourself a dress." Grace pointed out and Kim rolled her eyes at her.

"There's one full week left for prom. We can shop later. Let's get some pizza, I'm starving." She replied only to be dragged by both her elbows, curtsy of Steph and Rae.

Once Kim was back on her feet, she gave a death glare to her three friends and they sighed in response.

They made Kim sat on a small chair and Grace supervised over her, so that she won't flee away. Minutes passed and Steph and Rachel returned with possibly all the dresses on that floor. The mountain of fabric in their hands was so high, their faces weren't visible.

They dropped it, making a huge pile of dresses.

Kim stood up and she had to try on every single one of them under protest. She didn't take as much time as her friends, coming out every five minutes.

She puts on the first one. "Too dark."

The second one. "Too light."

The third one. "Too concealing."

The fourth one. "Too revealing."

The fifth one. "TAKE THAT OFF, RIGHT NOW." They screamed, and Kim recoiled in fear.

The sixth one. "If you wear that, we are complete strangers."

The seventh one. "Too-" Before they could complete, she had already stormed in the dressing room.

Kim sighed in defeat. She put on the last dress and dashed out. Her friends had their heads down, already prepared for rejecting. But when they lifted their heads, no word escaped their mouths.

Kim looked at their blank faces. She turned back to her reflection in the mirror, and her cheeks heated up instantly.

Her dress was a heavenly shade of peachish-pink, reaching just above her knees, being the perfect length for Kim. It was strapless, having a safe v-cut. Silver glitters and sequins decorated it at the top, centrally merging with the similar, indefinite decoration at the waistline. The skirt was magnificent, of the same shade, and had silver-embroidered flowers patterned at the border, perfectly blending with the stylized bodice. Yes, it was puffy, but that's what made it look breath-taking.

Kim's hand traveled to touch the mirror, having a mind of its own, checking that it wasn't a dream and it was not. A sound of clearing of a throat came from behind, and she turned, letting go of her stunning reflection.

"Blake's gonna pass out." Grace smirked at her, making Kim blush harder than ever.

"Why didn't I see it earlier?" The other two frowned.

Kim came out of the dressing room, putting back her original clothes. Grace tried to touch her dress and she scared her away. "Hands off, it's mine."

Kim was back home, and all she did wasidiotically stare at her dress, lying full-length in front of her. It looked evenmore stunning at night and Kim couldn't take her eyes off it. For the firsttime, she was excited about prom. She was excited about putting it back on her.
