Gambon made his film debut in Othello (1965) alongside Laurence Olivier and Maggie Smith. Gambon was Knighted in 1998 for services to drama. He is married to Anne Miller and has 3 children. Everybody went back down to their seats even Neville seemed scared more than usual.
