Kenma didn't fully know what to do with himself after Kuroo left for college.

It felt weird walking to school alone and odd not constantly hearing his nerdy puns at every given opportunity. But in the end, it truly wasn't the end of the world as he still kept in frequent contact with him, he didn't even have the time to miss him since he was constantly texting him.

One thing Kenma figured he would miss about Kuroo was the consistent reminders to feed himself, change, drink water, sleep - all the daily things he'd constantly neglect in pure laziness.

That was, however, one main thing he didn't lose.

Rather, upon meeting Shoyo, he filled his inbox with constant spams of reminders to take care of himself and he smiled at each excited text.

Kuroo still texted him too, sure, but he himself had bumped into a certain pretty setter from Miyagi he seemed to enjoy ranting about, mostly positives, of course.

At first, when Kuroo left, Kenma felt a little empty.

Soon enough, however, Kenma had gotten used to the new lifestyle - one where Kuroo and Shoyo were equally included.

The difference between texting Kuroo and texting Shoyo was certainly notable, though.

Kuroo's side was constantly:

kuroo: GUESS WHAT
kuroo: THE PRETTY BOY GAVE ME HIS NAmE
kuroo: and NUMBER!!

you: cool

kuroo: I KNOW!!
kuroo: we're partners for orientation and njkanepaihj

you: ok

kuroo: AND HE CALLS ME TETSU-CHAN
kuroo: SO CUTE KENMA MY HEARTTTT

kuroo: i think that's the first time you've ever double texted me!!
kuroo: you must be serious about little shrimpy ;)

you: he's cute or whatever

kuroo: LNSD<M W

While with Shoyo, it was more of:

you: uh hey shoyo?

shoyo: hey kenma!! whats up??

you: could you maybe
you: uh
you: come over to my house for a while?

shoyo: yes!!
shoyo: wait but its such a long ride ;-;

you: uh right
you: could i come to miyagi and stay at yours for a weekend?

shoyo: yes!!
shoyo: but only if you promise to take your gummy vitamins for a whole week!!

you: a week is so long
you: and they taste gross

shoyo: pleaaassseee for meeeeeee

you: ugh fine.
you: only because we can have a sleepover though

Each conversation with his very different best friends always made Kenma smile, even if it was just Kuroo ranting about Oikawa or Shoyo reminding him to go on a walk every once in a while.

Kenma sighed, checking the time on his phone.

He finally had a weekend to spend with Shoyo, and he was planning on confessing. (Not that he wanted to, of course, but Kuroo practically forced him to agree so there he was.)

The train pulled to a stop and crowds of people left and entered, Kenma trailing along the crowds and making his way through the busy streets to his best friend's house.

"Kenma!" Shoyo shouted as he swung the door open, enveloping his best friend into a tight hug, dragging him inside. "I'm so glad you're here!"

Kenma chuckled a little, setting his bag down by the entry to properly hug his best friend before removing his shoes and flopping on the couch. Shoyo trailed behind him, laughing a little himself and offering a pair of slippers to Kenma. "I rented Your Lie in April!"

Kenma raised a skeptical eyebrow. "Isn't that movie supposed to be really sad?"

Hinata shrugged, slipping it in the slot and joining Kenma on the couch. "I don't know!"

Kenma braced himself. Yeah, he knew this was going to be sad.

Shoyo sobbed, hugging Kenma tightly. "Whyyy~ Kenma why did you let me watch that??"

Kenma chuckled, whipping tears from his best friend's face. "You're the one who wanted to watch it."

Pouting, Shoyo hiccuped but allowed his sobs to even out. "I think that's the saddest thing I've ever watched!"

"Oh boy," Kenma started, messing with the tangled hair on Shoyo's head. "Just wait until Kuroo sits you down and forces you to watch the entirety of Banana Fish in one sitting."

"Pfft," Hinata giggled, "That sounds like a nightmare!"

Kenma nodded, zoning out of the conversation to fondly stare. A smile graced his lips as he messed with Hinata's hair. "Hey, Shoyo?"

Hinata's laughter slowly died and he looked expectantly at Kenma. "Yeah?"

"I think I like you."

"Aww!!" Hinata shouted, jumping next to Kenma. "I like you too!"

Kenma sighed, turning his head away. "I don't think you understand what I meant by that, Shoyo."

Raising his eyebrows, Hinata took a seat next to Kenma, resting his head on his shoulders. "Poo. I thought we woulda made a cute couple but I'm happy with you as my friend too!"

Kenma smiled. "We would make a cute couple."

"Wooooo! So can we go on dates then? Or am I totally lost?"

Chuckling, Kenma returned his hands to Shoyo's hair. "No, I think you're in the right place."

A smile worth a million cats lit up Hinata's face as he beamed at Kenma. "Yes!! Wait, I need to tell Kageyama!"

"Mmm," Kenma hummed, brushing out a tangle. "Don't get up yet. I'm comfy."

"Hi 'comfy'! I'm 'hoping to be your boyfriend'!"

"...hi 'hoping to be your boyfriend', I'm your boyfriend."
