epilogue

12 years later.

Finney's POV:

"Go to sleep Izzy." I softly whispered. Isabelle has been crying for hours and we're all exhausted. It's currently 4 am and nobody has gotten any sleep. Except for Robin since he fell asleep 5 minutes ago. "Robin wake up!" I whisper shouted at him.

"Huh-wha I'm awake!" Robin shot up in his seat next to her crib. I watched as he rubbed his eyes and yawned. I looked behind him at the nursery with white clouds painted all over the pink walls. Gwen was the person who painted it after she insisted we let her decorate the nursery. It was the first thing she said when we told her we had finally found a surrogate.

"It's your turn trying to get her to go to sleep. She obviously isn't listening to me." I complained. Robin got up from his seat and walked over to the baby and I. He lifted Isabelle out of my arms and started rocking her back and forth.

"Shhhhh M'ija. It's time for you to sleep." Robin cooed. He kept doing this for a minute or so before she finally calmed down. Once she stopped crying she closed her eyes and was sound asleep. Robin smiled down at her while he continued to rock her and it was one of those moments you just need a picture of. I slipped my phone out of my pocket and snapped a photo before discreetly putting it back in.

"How are you so much better than me at calming her down?" I cried.

"What can I say, it's a talent." Robin said with a wink. Just as he was about to lay her down in her crib, our other daughter Grace walked in the room.

"Daddy? Dadda?" She whispered sounding scared.

"Hey sweetheart." Robin whispered back as he finished laying Izzy down.

We adopted Grace two years ago, and she is truly the embodiment of her name. Her biological parents were abusive and neglectful, and she was put in the foster system just after she turned three.  She has already gone through so much at such a young age, but if anything it has only made her kinder. When we went to the adoption agency and saw her there, we instantly knew she was our daughter.

"Is the baby asleep?" Grace whispered. I walked over to the door and picked her up. I quietly waved Robin out of the nursery before shutting the door. I waited until we were out of the room before responding at a normal volume.

"Yeah she is. Did we wake you up sweetie? Why are you awake?" I asked while kissing her forehead.

"I had a bad dream." she whispered while glancing around the dark house.

"Awww baby. Do you wanna tell us what it was about?" I said while hugging her to my chest.

"The monster was chasing me and I couldn't run fast enough." She shivered.

"It was just a dream Gracie. Monsters don't exist." Robin said trying to calm her down.

"Can I sleep in your room?" She asked, still afraid.

"Of course Gracie." I said while carrying her into our room. I laid her down on the mattress and sat next to her. As soon as Robin turned the lights off he crawled into bed on the other side of Grace.

There was a minute of silence before Grace was passed out. "Robin?" I whispered into the pitch black room.

"Yeah Mi Amor?" Robin said through a yawn.

"I love our family."
