Aria's POV

I'm his Personal Maid, this is nonsense... The last thing in my mind is to avoid the king at all cause. I was seriously planning to do so but now... It's all in vain.

That means I'll have to see those handsome faces of his every single day, I don't like this idea at all.

I stared at king Anthony to see he was really okay with it. Maybe he planned it with grandma Annie.

What is her intension in making me his 'personal maid'.

"Aria dear, you may go now". Grandma Annie dismissed me while ma'am Esther shoot dirty glare.

Why does she hate me soo much, I've always stayed away from her. I can't remember doing anything wrong to offend her.

I left the dinning room heading back into the kitchen to see the maidens squeaking with joy. Why are they all be having like little kid? What's giving them such joy?

"Oh M G... Tell me what I'm hearing isn't true Aria?". Sarah asked with a surprised but yet approving face.

"Arh... What did you hear?".

She stared at me weirdly like I just asked the most stupid question on earth.

"Are you kidding me. So it's true... you're the king's personal maid. This is good". She said excitedly.

Is she crazy... What's good about this?

"No it's bad. This is bad... Bad, bad bad. What if I mess up? I don't know anything about taking care of someone on a higher sit personally. There will be a lot of expectation from me... What if I can't leave up to their expectation?". I asked being worried about my current issue.

"Come girl... you can do it. You surprised sir David and ma'am Esther on how you manage the kitchen. Being a personal maid might be a huge responsibility but you can do it, even more than their expectation". Sarah encouraged. She has soothing voice.

"And you have a lot of advantage girl". Lucy spoke up.

"I do?".

"Yes of course". Sarah approved.

"How".

"As stupid as it may sound, since you'll be close to the highness, you can convince him in letting us have a break for once, you can even persuade him in letting us see our parents". Lucy suggested.

"As good as it sound... I apologies I can't do that. I can't take advantage of rare privilege, do you want me to be hanged". I said as wave of fear washed me down.

"I know... It might take time to convince his majesty ... But on our selfish part, we all want to see our parents once more. I haven't seen them for over 4 years and I still crave to see them... even if it's just once. Don't you want to lay your eyes on your family again?". Sarah asked with sadness evident in her eyes.

I stared at everyone in the kitchen to see them with same expression. I also want to see my parents, my family, my home. I want to even go back home.

But it won't be easy. This is the tradition of this kingdom... The king taking a step out of it will cause big confusion to the land.

We can only send messages to our beloveth but you can't see them till the age of 40. But I'll try my luck.

"I'll try". I said silently but Sarah was able to hear me.

"Seriously?". Lucy asked skeptical. And I nodded.

"And oh... Try winning his majesty heart, you both will be so cute and romantic". Sarah said winking at me.

"Just Forget about that". I immediately said trying to stop the conversation.

"Why? It's so sweet to think of". Lucy said dramatically.

"There's no such thing as kings and maids relationship".

"I believe in it". A maiden said.

"That's your believe". I replied heading to my room.

Clara and Maya won't stop teasing me about this topic.

I entered my room and closed the door in the process. Clara and Maya laid on their bed saying nothing. Phew... I think they haven't heard about it yet, I entered into the bathroom and changed into my night dress then laid on my bed trying to catch any sleep.

"Hello... Girl I hope you aren't sleeping". Maya says.

"Yeah... We've got something to talk about". Clara said.

What is that they want to discuss that can't wait till in the morning.

"I'm tired, it can wait till tomorrow". I replied my eyes closed.

"Of course no... It has to be discussed now... Like right now". Clara pressed further.

I sighed... Feeling disturbed.

"Yeah...". I answered.

"We want you to stand up first". Maya spoke.

I hissed out of tiredness, I opened my eyes, sat on the bed to see them standing some distance from my bed. I stood up and stared at them wanting to strangle them.

"So what". I said trying to sound calm.

They quickly hugged me and started laughing. Are this girls okay?

"Pls... Did someone die". I saw myself asking.

If someone died, why will they be laughing?
And they laughed harder.

"You could have seen your face". Maya said caressing my hair. Which I found strange.

"The annoyance on her face was priceless". Clara commented.

"Why are the both of you acting like lunatics". Seriously, I've got ask.

"Because god have blessed us with you". Maya said dragging my cheek with her thumb and index finger.

"I don't understand 😕".

"Of course you won't". Clara said with a smile.

"Seriously get to the point". I said with a straight a face.

"We heard... Actually Clara and I heard the good news". Maya spoke.

"What good news?".

"You being a personal maid to the king". Clara said jumping around.

I should have known... This two had to disturb my rest because of a duty given to me. News or more like gossips spread very fast in this palace.

"What's special about it ?". I asked boringly.

"Oh my god, every thing is special about it... It's so precious and wonderful". Maya said dramatically.

"I hate it". I said as I became frustrated about the topic. What if I mess up.

"Did I here you clearly? Every maiden would want to be in your shoes". Clara said making me confused.

"What do you mean?".

''You being the king's Personal Maid  you've got more respect on you palm... You can win the kings heart". Maya elaborated.

"You can make the king fall in love with you get married to him as I'll be your best lady''. Clara said day dreaming.

"No... I'm being Aria's best lady". Maya refused.

"Looks who's talking I'm old enough so I'll be her best lady". Clara said standing her ground.

"You can be her flower girl and I'll be her best lady and it's final". Maya argued.

This girls aren't seriously. Why do everybody want me to win his heart. He's the king, he can only fall in love with a princess and marry her not the other way around.

I looked at Maya and Clara who were still arguing. This girls are something else. I walked up to my bed and laid down to think about my life.

"Aria... Who do you choose to be your best lady?". They asked in union.

"None of you".

"What?". They exclaimed

"Yes".

"Are you crazy". They said in union.

Well it seems like I'm not sleeping tonight.

Morning came and I was too tired to get up, but what can I do... I got up to see Clara and Maya still asleep. Yesterday night was something else.

After Maya and Clara were done arguing. They entered another topic of how I was going to make the king notice me. How I wish they understand that I want to be unnoticed by him.

I got myself prepared and head straight to the kitchen. The kitchen maidens were done making breakfast as I served the royal family.

Kiran waved at me as Mrs. Margaret and ma'am Annie smiled at me mischievously. What are they up to? I left the dinning room heading to the royal hall to clean it up when someone touched my shoulder. I turned to see it was Joseph and I saw myself smiling.

"Hello". He said.

"Hello there, how are you doing?". I asked.

"Being good but missed your smiles". He complimented.

"Pls... Don't flutter me this morning, I'm afraid I'll fall for you". I joked and he grinned.

"Won't that be lovely". He said prostrating in front me making me laugh out loud.

"Okay I've got to get busy now". I said turning to leave.

"Why don't I hold your delicate hand walking beside you until you start working". He said holding my hands getting me surprised.

I quickly withdrew my hand from him and slapped him at the back of his head playfully.

"Nah... I'll walk on my own... You head to work".

"I'm not busy till in the afternoon". He said.

"Owh".

"So I'll keep you company". He requested.

I thought for a sec and nodded my head in response and he smiled at me warmly.

As I cleaned the hall we talked about minor topics. He told me he wasn't from this kingdom but from another kingdom I couldn't remember. He said he was the second son of his father and he was a noble.

"Then why are you a guard Instead of leaving a honorable life?". I asked now staring at him.

"Well just wanted to live a free life and have a working experience here in kingdom of eternity". He said shrugging his shoulder.

Wow! Human beings are definitely different.

"So how long are you going to work here?".

"For 3 to 4  good years, but since I've gotten my honorable badge I might leave to my home town this year". He elaborated and I nodded my head in understanding continuing my cleaning.

"You know... If I leave I'll miss you".

"You will?".

"Yes... You're the most friendly maiden I've met here in which I like very much".

"You've got feelings for me?". I asked praying that he doesn't.

"Yes I do... I like you". He said making me snap my head to his direction.

"That's new". I replied being surprised.

"Indeed it is''.

"Pls... Don't have feelings for me".

"I know you would say that... Even though you don't have feelings for me I'll keep my feelings for you". He confessed.

I sighed and replied.

"If that's okay for you, suit your self".

"I heard you are now a personal maid to the king". He asked.

"Yes". I answered my shoulder slumping down.

"And you don't like that idea".

"Yes".

"What if I mess up... The elder queen doesn't even like me and if her son is endangered anyway, I'll be blamed for". I said feeling tense.

"Calm down Aria, you won't mess up, I here trust you... You'll do great, I assure you that. Just be careful keep a good distance away from the king. A lot happens in this palace you don't know, a lot of maidens are being framed for one or two thing, some gets missing because of them involving themselves with the royalties, so pls... Be careful". He said advising me.

"What if I fall into those category or eventually get framed and kill... ".

"No you won't... I'll make sure of it. If you're having any difficulties... Just know I'm here for you Aria". He cut in staring at me in the eyes.

"Thanks for understanding me".

"As always dear. Just know I'm here for you, I'm always here". He said now holding my hands.

We were cut off from our discussion when a maiden said.

"Aria... The king seek your presence... While seeing him serve his lunch in his room". She said and left.

I withdrew my hand from Joseph hold and turned to leave as he waved me and I did same.

It seems like Joseph understands me.

"I'm here for you". His words rang in my head and I smiled.

What a good friend he is.

Hahaha, not many of you may like this chapter of Joseph being around Aria but seriously I've got to write this
