Chapter 9

*Aahil Pov*

"What happened to you?" I asked Dileep on his second day of unusual stay here, and he ignored me as usual.

"Did you send her away?" I asked the next question while still waiting for the food to the dining table and even for our parents.

"I wish!" He replied in a whisper, and I heard a snort from beside me.

"Stay away from this, Nipuna." I warned her.

"What will you do if I don't?" She asked back, and I turned to see her already staring at me.

"Why can't you leave me alone?" I asked glaring at her.

"Why can't you leave your brother alone? He is not a kid." She retorted.

"That's right! Mridula in the evening and now you. You both need to back off." Dileep said, shaking his head and Nipuna gave a victory look.

"That's because we care for you, which cannot be known to an outsider." I stated and she stared at me with a blank expression before staring at the plate.

I glanced up to see Mridula frowning at me and looked away when I gestured at her about what happened. I sighed and then glanced at Nipuna to see her still staring at the plate.

"Did you get hurt or what because of my words?" I asked her when we entered our room.

"No! But you got hurt yourself because of your words." She replied turning around.

"How?" I asked her frowning.

"Now, I am sure I will not sign any papers." She replied, shrugging and walked near to the bed.

"You can't blackmail me with them." I pointed out not knowing what to do with this mess.

"I can and I will. If you don't respect me, then I am sure will not respect your wishes." She mumbled lying on the bed.

"I will find a way." I mumbled, but she didn't retort anything to it and just drifted off into sleep.

"Wake up!" I felt someone shaking me and opened my eyes to see Nipuna's face very near to me.

"What?" I asked her frowning, and she rolled her eyes before holding my hands.

I looked down to find that I am holding her and that too tightly. She suddenly smirked, saying, "Looks like you really think I am a bad person even in your dreams."

"Why?" I asked, not understanding her words.

"Your grip is very tight like someone holds a thief or something." She replied and this time I rolled my eyes at her observations before removing my hands forcefully because of which she suddenly fell on me.

My eyes widened along with hers, and I placed my hands around her without my full intention making her lock in my embrace. She fidgeted for a few minutes and then sighed before lying on me like that.

"I got already tired to make myself release from your hold before, and now I do not have any more energy." She whispered before hugging me back and relaxed.

"Do not act like you are not enjoying this." I said mocking her.

"Who said I am not enjoying?" She asked, looking up to stare into my eyes, and I stilled in shock.

I slowly leaned my face to press my lips to hers, but she stopped me placing her hand on my mouth mumbling "You really do not want to do that."

Hearing her words, I released her with which she moved away before getting up and walked towards the washroom. What the hell was I trying to do now? I asked myself slapping my head.

"Will you come with me for my first check up?" She calmly asked standing before the mirror when I finished buttoning my shirt.

"Why should I?" I asked her raising my eyebrow, and she glared at me through the mirror.

"It will be good if you come to the check up." She mumbled again, and I shook my head combing my hair pushing her away a little.

It's been more than a week since she blackmailed me that she will never sign the papers if I don't give her respect, and I didn't care for it. However, from today morning onwards she is behind me asking to come for the checkup, and I am not accepting of it.

"You know what, just forget it." She mumbled stepping outside the room, and I followed her to have my breakfast before I get late for a meeting with other members.

"Uncle, if you don't mind can my dad come here?" She asked Dad in the middle of the breakfast.

"Of course! But why?" Dad asked her frowning, and everyone stared at her.

"I have an appointment today for a regular checkup, and I do not want to do that alone. So, I will ask my Dad to come here so that he can accompany me." She replied and I immediately glared at her face.

"Why do you need your Dad? I am sure Aahil will be happy to accompany you." Dad said, and I shook my head.

"No! I have some important work." I said, staring at him.

"This is also important, Aahil." He said in a hard tone.

"If it is not too much." Nipuna mumbled, turning towards me with an innocent face, but I can see that victory in her eyes.

"Fine!" I said and stood up before walking towards the main door.

"Let's go!" I said through gritted teeth when she stood near the car but is not sitting down.

"I know you have an important meeting, Aahil. Go to that meeting and I can go on my own." She calmly said, making me frown at her.

"Is it some game to you? You were hell bent behind me and even played my Dad. But now saying that you can go on your own." I said in a low tone not wanting to let any staff hear the banter.

"If you had simply told me you have a meeting, and you are busy, then I would have not done all this. But you behaved like I am asking your kidney or something. So, now remember that I can understand your doubts, but it is high time to keep your ego aside and think why would I even lie about the baby." She explained and walked near to her car before getting inside it and drove away.

I stood near the car for a few minutes and then got inside before driving towards the party house. Her words continued to ring questioning me why would she lie, and I shook my head before reaching the party house.

*Nipuna Pov*

I am fine! I mumbled to myself tapping my foot on the floor, but wished someone was here to hold my hand and say that it is fine.

I should have called Chaitra, but I know it is wrong to still dump my problems over her, and she did more than any family did for me. I shook my head and decided to concentrate on my breathing.

I should be doing this when in labor right then why am I doing this now. I started fidgeting with my hands and glanced around to see many pregnant women who are not at all nervous and have someone with them.

Is it how it is going to be with me even when I am in labor? I questioned and immediately shook my head not liking the answer for it.

It is now afternoon, but still my number is not called. I sighed and leaned back closing my eyes only to open them hearing my number.

I stood up immediately and started stepping near to the doctor's room and gulped placing my hand on the door. Then I felt warmth behind me making me glance back only to see Aahil.

"You are here!" I stated in a whisper.

"I should see whether you are really pregnant or not right." He offered, and I smiled before stepping inside the room not feeling that much nervous anymore with him following me.

However, after the check-up, I wish he is not here this moment, hearing the words from the doctor. I shook my head not able to believe her at all.

"That is impossible doctor. I mean you are giving nearly three days later date." I said, ignoring the Aahil's hard expression.

"Every time the date we give is not accurate. It changes like this so you need not to think about it." Doctor assured me, and I nodded getting up holding the prescription.

"Aahil!" I called after him stepping outside the room, but he just walked away not even glancing back.

I shook my head and bought the medicines before reaching the parking lot to see his car already missing. Maybe I should speak to him in the evening when he returns, but now I am hungry.

"How was the checkup?" Mridula asked when I entered the house.

"It was good." I replied, nodding and sat at the dining table to have some food before everyone, and Mridula understood serving me.

"I will also call Aahil downstairs. He must be hungry too." Mridula mumbled, and I stopped before taking the first bite.

"He is here?" I asked her frowning.

"Don't you know? You both left together right?" She asked back.

"I will take the food for both of us." I mumbled, standing up and served his food before climbing the stairs ignoring the protests from Mridula to help me.

I walked inside to see him sitting on the bed, holding his head. I cleared my throat, hearing which he looked up throwing a glare at me.

"Have some food." I mumbled, pulling up the table and placed the food on it.

"I am not hungry." He said and moved to get up, but I sat beside him placing my hand on his shoulder.

"I am just helping Mridula, Aahil. Do not show your frustration on the food." I explained thinking he was not eating because I brought it.

"Fine!" he mumbled and took his plate while I took mine and started having the food.

After finishing it, I moved them away and said, "You heard the doctor, Aahil. They can give the wrong dates too."

"Maybe she is giving the right date. Did your boyfriend say he does not want anything to do with the child fearing because of your dad?" He suddenly asked, making me frown.

"Boyfriend? He is already married, Aahil." I explained.

"Now I understand what is happening here. As he is married you are doing all this." He stated and I stared at him in shock.

"Are you mad? Why can't you believe that this is your baby? It is not like you don't remember us both sleeping together." I said raising my voice.

"I don't know anything." He commented before walking away leaving the room.

"Mom! Is something wrong?" Dileep asked, breaking the silence at the dinner table which I don't mind.

I still can't believe that he is now saying my Ex-boyfriend is the father. Why am I even in this situation with this weird man? I thought, shaking my head.

"Yes! We have a big problem." Aunty replied, making me glance at her to see her anger pointing towards Dileep.

"What have I done now?" He asked her frowning.

"Do you make fun of me before your mistress every time?" She asked back, and everyone stopped whatever they are doing to hear the banter.

"Of course not!" He replied, frowning more.

"One week back when I called your flat, she was sarcastic and yesterday when I called to see whether you are coming or not she laughed at my words." She said shaking her head.

"She laughed at your question to ask about my arrival?" Dileep asked her, and she shook her head in negative.

"Then what did she laugh about?" He added, and everyone decided to hear the answer very keenly while I wished I am sitting at the table in my Dad's house alone without any of this drama.

"I asked her to leave you from her clutches, and I will offer her some money. She replied 'thank you' while laughing." She replied and I sighed, thinking what has that poor girl did to have a discussion about her every time.

"If you had said something like that, then she would have told me, Mom." He said, brushing off her accusation, and I looked at him in surprise for defending her.

At least one brother knows how to give little respect and how to stand up for his girl! I thought, glancing at Aahil my stupid husband and Tajwar, who are definitely weird as far as I can see.
