"-so he sprayed pink glitter all over his head and we still haven't got the guts to face him again", Lexi rambled on as we both walked towards the cafeteria.

Alexis Carter as I had found out was a free soul. Her dad was a high end lawyer and her mom owned a small bakery a few minutes from the school grounds. She was bubbly and cheerful literally all the time and she always had a smile on her face. Honestly,  didn't her cheekbones hurt? Like ever? Anyway, to each their own.

Lexi had one more class with me after the dreadful math period where she invited me to sit with her friends at lunch. To be honest? I still couldn't digest the fact that I had a friend. I vowed to make the best of my newfound friendship and agreed immediately.

We entered the cafeteria which literally looked like every cliche cafeteria ever. It had the jock table in the middle with a few cheerleaders scattered around (it was evident they were jocks by their appearance and talk), I could see the loners in the corners of the huge room. A group of girls with way too much makeup were laughing at a table nearby but hey, who am I to judge? I wouldn't deny that I loved make up too, but I really didn't have the patience to do it in the morning. I could also see a big table right in the middle of the cafeteria which was completely empty. I wonder who sat there. It was obviously reserved for a group.

Maybe the "bad boys"?

Eh.

Lexi dragged me to a table near the huge windows where I could see four more people laughing together. You bet I hesitated. But Lexi payed it no mind as she plopped down on one of the empty chairs.

Immediately the attention was brought to me and I could honestly say that u was freaking out. What if they didn't like me? Would Lexi still want to be friends? Would I once again have no friends? My mind had always been my worst enemy and so I decided to push back any negative thoughts and gave them a small, confident smile ,"Hey, I'm Rebekah Russell."

Fake it till you make it right?1

"Omg! You're the girl Lex has been texting us about all day", a honey blond jumped up and wrapped me in a hug. I flinched on instinct but I don't think he noticed. On that note, this boy looked really familiar.
"-And that is such a unique name."

Evidently I had missed a part of his speech, so I just smiled at him thankfully. What the fuck was unique about 'Rebekah'?
-it would be a completely different matter if I had a Mikaelson to go with it though.

The black haired girl laughed," Don't scare away the poor girl on her first day Theo."

'Theo' immediately let her go," Oh sorry! I was just excited. I'm Theo by the way. Theo Wilson."

"Nice to meet you", I grinned back. I couldn't help it! His smile was infectious.

The girl who had laughed just a few minutes back now looked up. Though she looked a little scary, with the black leather jacket and dark eyeliner, she had a small smile playing on her lips," I'm Sharon Rivera. Call me Sandy."

Next were two twins by the looks of it. However the only distinguishable feature was their contrasting hair colours.

"I'm Michael Anderson", the black haired one spoke up first and he gave me a small smile before going back to the book in his hands.

The blond however had a cocky smirk on his face," I'm Alex, and let me say that you're the most divine creature I have seen all day amongst these dreadful halls."

I stared at him.
He stared at me.
Everybody stared at us.
And then I burst out laughing.

At his dumbfounded expression I couldn't help but let out a few more snickers,"D-Does that usually work-k?"

Sandy snorted loudly earning a few stares but she ignored them. Even Michael had looked up from his book as he stared at his speechless twin with blatant amusement.

"You and me. We're going to be the best of friends", Sandy loudly proclaimed before they all dug into their food.

I chewed on my apple as I observed the group dynamics. It was evident that they were close by their interactions and I couldn't help but doubt how I could ever be one of them.

"Won't you eat?", Michael commented softly as he looked at my lone apple.

I smiled in response and just shook my head,"I had a heavy breakfast, and I'm kinda still not used to having lunch at this time. Jet lag hit me hard".

"Oh yeah, where did you move from again?", Alex questioned. He was a cool guy. I had soon learnt that he was the biggest flirt I would ever come across but I didn't mind. It was fun.

"Seattle"

"Do you have vampires there?", Lexi asked with a dreamy sigh,"Does Forks exist?"

Sandy tightly clutched her ears before dramatically shaking her head. She then looked at me seriously ,"Before you even consider becoming friends with Lexi, you should know that she has a horrible obsession with Twilight and if left to her own devices, she will brainwash you into giving into the dark side of the world."

Lexi spared Sandy an annoyed glance before turning to me. She stared me dead in the eyes before asking,"Team Edward or Jacob?"

This was it. This was my moment. This was what decided my future. This was my past. My present. My existence.

"Team Rosalie. Obviously."

Lexi did a little happy dance as we stared at her in amusement. I was about to bring up my phone and record it when everything  quietened down. Suddenly the cafeteria doors opened with a bang. Damn, what was this? A cliche?

As the group took their seats at the previously empty table the chatter started up again and I could see Theo stare longingly at someone on the table.

"It's Luke", Sandy told me as she followed my eyeline.

At my confused gaze she elaborated,"The person T is staring at? That's Luke Pierŕe. Theo has always had a major crush on him. He probably writes ballads about him in the back of his notebooks. Luke however doesn't even know he exists."

"He will", Theo sighed dreamily," one day he will."

We all let out sniggers at that.

"And the rest? Who are they?", I questioned curiously. I was pretty sure these were the self proclaimed group of bad boys but I wanted to know more about the group i planned to always steer clear of.

I definitely didn't need Ryan getting pissed off by my face in this school too. Where was he anyway?

Lexi began explaining, "Well, there's Luke Pierŕe and Sebastian Rivera", I looked at Sandy who nodded.

"Yes, he's my older brother"

I nodded and motioned for Lexi to continue,"Then there's Samuel Garcia and the rest are the Costa brothers."

At my confused gaze Theo elaborated," The Costa Brothers are the incredibly hot three brothers who are basically the ringleaders of the group. Their elder brother is very influential and many believe they are involved in the underworld or some shit. It's definitely a stupid rumor or something along those lines though. We get a lot of those around here. However everyone just steers clear of them."

Alex continued," The one who looks pissed off at the world is Eraldo Costa. Never piss him off. He has a terrible temper and I can't even begin to count the number of fights he has gotten into. Ercole Costa is his twin brother. He's like much more chill version of his twin but they shared a womb after all, so there's that. He's also one of the biggest players in this school. Marcello Costa is usually quiet, we don't see much of him and he generally doesn't cause much trouble. But once he beat up a student in his year to pulp. That guy ended up in the ICU for months and never came back. I don't know why though. He and the twins are literally ten months apart so they study in the same year."

Sandy continued,"Ercole and Marcello don't usually stir up trouble on their own but it's safe to not mess with any of them or provoke them unnecessarily. Ercole loves playing pranks though. They're brilliant."

"Vicious you mean?", Alex rolled his eyes.

Sandy did not even look up from her food, "Can't blame him. Brandon definitely deserved it though."

A small frown made its way onto my face but I refrained from asking for any explanation. Definitely didn't need the few people who I could become friends with think that I'm annoying.

I slowly absorbed all the information and my determination to avoid the group increased tenfold. I definitely didn't want to piss any of them off.

As I surveyed the cafeteria one last time, my eyes caught Ryan's at the football table. They instantly hardened as he looked at me and his glare spoke of promises he wouldn't utter and i instantly averted my gaze. I just hoped he left me alone here.

We continued our conversation as before with me sometimes sneaking a few glances at Theo. I just-

"Beks, I'm sorry, I know I'm handsome but I'm also very gay. So your staring really won't do anything for me honey", Theo said suddenly looking at me.

I blushed red before quickly explaining my actions,"I'm sorry I just feel like I've seen you bef- WAIT. Your were the sleeping guy on the bus!"

Before Theo could answer I argued with my own sentence ,"But you didn't get down at the school stop."

Alex laughed at the embarrassed gaze Theo was now sporting," Theodore here always dozes off in the bus and usually wakes up two stops further. Hence the reason why he’s always late."

We all laughed heartily and for the first time in a long time I smiled genuinely.

Maybe things wouldn't be so bad anymore.
