Ch.79 Poisoned

I'm gonna try to post two chapters a day now :)

(Flashback) By the time it had gotten dark, Brooke was so close to finishing the tree when a strong wing brushed against her as she steadied herself against the tree. When she turned around and saw what was coming towards her, she didn't hesitate as she quickly grabbed onto her flaming torch and dashed through the woods as fast as she could.

With the presence behind her, she ran with all her might while being careful not to the trip as she came upon Destiny's hideout that led underground where she hurried in and closed the door. After blocking the door, she set down her torch and ran to her daughter who was asleep in the bed and began to shake her.

"Wake up," she shook Shannon "Wake up."

"Hm?" Shannon mumbled as she sat up in the bed "What is it, mom?"

"They found us" Brooke breathed.

"What?" she gasped.

"Don't be frightened. It'll be all right. I'll stay behind, give you time to escape."

"No," Shannon shook her head as she jumped out of the bed "I won't leave you. I'll help you fight."

"No, you can't," she placed her hands on her arms "You have to make sure it stays safe. You have it, don't you?"

"Of course," Shannon nodded as she lifted up the pillow and held up Brooke's book.

"Oh, good," Brooke breathed in relief when the door started to shake.

"Mom!" Shannon screamed with fright.

"Don't worry about me," Brooke told her while trying to stay brave "You need to go!"

"I-"

"I know," she replied, seeing how tears were forming in her daughter's eyes "Me too."

As the door began to shake again and the wind got louder, Brooke placed a kiss on Shannon's forehead before letting her leave.

"Hurry!" she ordered as Shannon took off.

Once alone, Brooke quickly pulled out her sword and got into position to fight. And as the door blast open, she stood still and allowed the dark being to reach her.

________

Following her mother's orders, Shannon hurried to her palace where she spotted her father along with the other adults.

"Dad!" she called out as she dashed towards him.

"Shannon?" Danny remarked surprised, "What are you doing back here?"

"They got her-" she panted, "The Coventry, they got mom!"

"What?" he gasped.

"Oh no," Clara's eyes widen, "We gotta get her back."

"You guys go," Cory suggested, "I'll stay with Shannon."

"Wait," Danny spoke before they could all leave "This is exactly what Shawn wants- to distract us from stopping this curse. And if we don't, nothing will matter. Not even Brooke."

________

Upon a mountain where lightning flashed in the dark skies, the Coventry stood in a circle that represented their symbol. As the group members whispered softly, Shawn took off his hood and unrolled a scroll that had the spell for the curse.

"I have waited so many years to cast this curse," he sneered as he turned to Morgana who was standing next to him "Thank you for everything."

"I can see you've finally found a mother figure," they turned to see Danny approaching with Faybelle by his side.

"You do realize that she's just using you, right?" he put in.

"Hello, Daniel," Shawn grinned, "Miss Thorn. Here to watch the show?"

"What do you think?" Danny snarled.

"Oh yeah," he doubted with a smirk, "Like you two will be enough to stop me."

"Oh, we're not the only ones that came along."

At that point, Delilah and Clara jumped out with their swords as Delilah took hold of Morgana and held her sword to her neck.

"Well," Morgana smirked, "If it isn't Delilah? Still dreading the loss of your mother?"

"Shut up," Delilah growled.

"Ooh," Shawn gave a mocking sneer "An Illustrator and an underrated queen. Ooh, how will I ever defeat you?"

At that moment, Danny used his magic to send Shawn flying back and landing on the stone ground with a thud as he grunted in pain.

"You want a magic fight?" Danny grimaced, "Happy to oblige."

He then held his hand out and used his magic to grip onto Shawn's throat and shoved him into a stone pillar as Faybelle used her magic to transport the scroll from his hand and into hers.

"But as you can see," Danny spoke, "You will not be casting this curse."

"I know," Shawn gasped for air, "That's why you're going to cast it."

"What?"

"Show him."

"May I?" Morgana questioned Delilah who still had her grip on her.

Delilah turned to Danny who motioned her to let the enchantress go as she did so. Once free, Morgana headed over to a hooded figure who was standing still. And after giving Danny one last smirk, she pulled down the hood to reveal a horrifying sight.

Tied to the pole that was holding her up was Brooke. Gagged and with her wrists bound in front of her, what really shocked everyone was how red and sweaty her face was and how weak she looked.

"Brooke!" everyone screamed with horror in their eyes.

As Morgana let Brooke fall to the ground, Danny released Shawn as he and everyone else ran to Brooke's side and cut away her bonds.

"Brooke," Delilah gasped as she held her head up as Brooke began to cough uncontrollably.

"What did you do to her?!" Danny demanded.

"What we do best-" Morgana smirked, "We poisoned her."

Now filled with even more fear, Danny tried to use his magic to heal her as she kept on coughing and gasping for air. But no matter how hard he tried, his magic wasn't working on her.

"It's not working!" Delilah screamed with tears in her eyes as she held onto Brooke's hands.

"And it's not going to," Shawn added, "As a matter of fact, the only thing that can... is a trip to a land without magic."

"Don't do this, Shawn" Danny begged as tears dripped down his face "I can't just- I can't cast a curse. It takes time and ingredients."

"Eight, to be exact. And I have seven of them right here. The only one I'm missing- the most important one, and, of course, the hardest to find- is magic from a magic user who crushed the heart of the thing he loves most."

At that moment, Danny realized what Shawn meant as he looked down at his wife who was getting close to death.

"So," Shawn continued, "Daniel. What will it be? My curse... or her life?"
